Great Dermatologist. I only come for cosmetic stuff. Very knowledgeable and professional. One sign of a great dermatologist is that they tell you 'no' when they don't believe the results will be positive. She will tell you no and explain why. I've had 2 peels, a tiny bit of filler in my tear troughs, and Botox every six months. All positive experiences. Nowhere in the text or email does it say Consultation Fee, 99.9% of consultations are free consultations. What a waste of my time and waste of my money. Here's an idea; Tell people you charge an outrageous amount for a consult instead of blindsiding them. My daughter saw Dr. Kwolek in 2019 and 2020. In 2019 they took her copay and never billed our insurance. In 2020 she was there and Dr. Kwolek was alone in the office and didn't know how to run the copay so told us to forget it she will just bill the insurance. They never billed the insurance for either visit and then came after my daughter to collect $310 in 2022. I told them to bill the insurance and they did not, this practice is a hot mess. She was no help medically to my daughter and her office person that I spoke to yesterday, when I was following up on them writing off this charge, and he hung up on me and would not answer the phone afterwards. So unprofessional and rude, especially because it is their error that started all of this. Steer clear. read more

So very disappointed. After seeing Dr. Kwolek for many years, had the threading procedure done and was left with a "nicked" facial artery, and what another physician who treated it, diagnosed as a "pseudo aneurysm " of the artery. Left a pulsating blue bump and swelling for over a year until I could find an MD who would treat it. Unnecessary if proper skill was utilized during the threading, which obviously was not. And a message to Terry and the doctor, he is clearly an angry individual, and you can do so much better than him. Trust me, your practice would thrive, and so would your life. DETAILS As the first patient of the day, the door was closed when I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment, the door opened at 8:58. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I walked through, I inquired if I should leave the door open behind me or close it (polite question), "Terry" proceeded to explain rudely that "if one walks through an open door one should close it behind them" Really? How about "It would be great if you can close it" something simple[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was ushered into the doctor's office immediately - no need for paperwork (efficient). Dr. Kwolek listened, verified, confirmed, and did it all within 5 minutes as I only had a concern and I was told pretty confidently that what I had was nothing to be concerned with. Then out we go for the paperwork, [[HIGHLIGHT]]"Terry" doesn't bother to even look up, just hands it over and says "have a seat" - mind you it's 9:05 at this point, doctor's don't usually schedule patients in 15 minute increments, so I ask if they have another patient coming soon. He proceeds to tell me again to have a seat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ask - is it really necessary to fill out paperwork as I'm paying out of pocket on this - saving him plenty of time from having to fill out insurance forms and submit for payment etc, "you have to fill it out" is his only response, again without even looking up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't sit down and just filled out the paperwork within 2 min and handed it back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]without even saying Thank you, or anything he proceeds to grab the credit card reader, punch in how much it is - 0 explanation - and then tells me how to use the credit card reader - as if I've never used one before.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came to find out after telling my wife who has been going to Dr. Kwolek for 10+ years that he even once chastised her in front of other patients for being 5 minutes late to an appoint 1 time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Terry needs to be fired so he can work at a sewage treatment plant as the end of the day cleaning crew. read more

Dr. Kwolek is the finest dermatologist I've ever been to and I've been going to her for 20 years! In the past I've always had skin issues, since childhood. All I have to do is see her and I always know I'll be better in whatever the issue is in the shortest time frame possible. Now that I'm aging, she also is by far the most cognizant and genuine about the best way to treat it with care to keep it as natural and glowing as possible, which I truly appreciate. Went to see Dr Kwolek for milia bumps under my eye. I was 1) unsure if that's what they were and 2) concerned with removing them bec of what I had read but wanted to discuss with a doctor as I was really bothered by their appearance. I met Dr Kwolek who confirmed they were milia. She went through the option of removing them- pros/cons. I was a little nervous but opted to try removing one to start. She removed it- wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and when I asked if she could remove the other she was very pleasant and willing to despite my changing my mind of only doing one. As the 'con' she warned me I could have a slight black eye- I maybe had a hint of one but nothing makeup couldn't hide but I appreciated the worst case scenario from her! Payment. I was private pay/out of pocket since I have Kaiser and they won't see you for this type of thing. I was pleasantly surprised that the visit was reasonably priced Regarding the negative reviews: just ignore them. Please don't let that deter you from seeing Dr Kwolek as you would be doing a disservice to yourself. If you look at the negative reviews almost all are related to the front desk person. Here's my take on that: 1) you're going there to see the doctor. You want a doctor that knows their stuff and is good at it. You get that with her. 2) you aren't going there for the front office staff. Who cares if you don't get a fluffy, feel good vibe? The guy is doing his job. When I relocated to the east bay, I needed a dermatologist to see on a regular basis. I am a senior who spent too many years sunbathing. I found the doctor to be very thorough, listened to me, gave me clear instructions and is always cheerful. She also does a lot of aesthetic procedures which are quite good but my concern was medical. I trust her and would recommend her. I do agree with other reviews that her reception person is off putting and having to book only via her website takes away from "that special feeling" but the doctor is well worth it. read more

I have been a 20 year patient - but I'm done. The doc is great but her boy at the front desk is nasty and rude. I've put up with him for years - but no longer. Too bad that he is the first person to rudely greet you upon arrival. I had to cancel an appt. the day before due to illness. In 2 days I received a rude letter stating I would be charged $100 if it happens again. That letter combined with the smart aleck boy at the front desk just pushed me over. 20 years - done just like that. Too many other nice environment offices around - and closer to home for me. COVID-19 keeping you from going to a dermatologist? Dr. Kwolek's office is uniquely suited to these pandemic times. She is a sole practitioner in a single office you enter directly from outside. No big medical building with a lobby full of lots of people running around. No elevator. Just Dr. Kwolek and her receptionist. Even in normal times, you can't do better than Dr. Kwolek for skincare. She is the most straightforward, competent and skilled dermatologist I have ever been to.
