Went for skin cancer screening as it's in my family. Appointment was on time and front desk staff very welcoming. Met with Dr. Ross. Thorough, gentle, even when he warned a "pinch" was coming it was very mild. But my biggest reason for the 5 stars is not once did he try to upsell me on Botox or laser hair removal or juvaderm or lip fillers. My former dermatologist did not inspect one part of my anatomy without recommending some procedure to "fix it". I get that's their bread and butter, and skin cancer isn't very sexy. But some of us are ok with how we look. read more

This was my fourth mohs surgery. Dr Wong was the third doctor I have seen over my many years and he was the best! I was so nervous about my scar based on my previous surgeries and this one was amazing. It was the best surgery/stitch job ever and it was my biggest with 8 stitches. Horrible customer service. Extremely hard to get ahold of, if you were to have any complications with anything rest assured you will be on hold for 30-45 min. The in person visits have become extremely inpersonal and rushed. Seems like they want you in and out and no longer value your time, questions, or concerns. I am very disappointed. I have been a patient of Dr Wong for about 5 years. And I have never had a more capable and caring doctor in my life. He has taken care of every issue that has ever come up, and has always made me feel assured about what he is doing and making sure I feel comfortable. He is backed up by a staff that is extremely caring and capable. George and Allen are both amazing staff with Dr. Wong and make my visits enjoyable. The kind of Dr Wong is one time he was at a family reunion and I had an emergency come up and he left it to meet me at his office on a weekend. I've struggled with Eczema my whole life from scratching my skin raw as an infant to flair ups as an adult. It's more than just dry skin like some people seem to think. Anyhow my PCP Dr. Brian Kim over at Scripps Coastal Carlsbad was unable to properly treat or even identify my trigger or properly medicate it. He gave me a referral to Dermatologist Medical Group of North County which at the time seemed like it was the bees nees. Well after my last 2 flair ups I was referred to Dermatology Specialists Dr. Bradshaw and he is the 1st and only Doctor to properly diagnose and treat me, within seconds he knew more about it than multiple previous doctors spent hours poking and proding. My childhood eczema is no longer an issue, but I now have Dishydrotic Eczema which is treated completely differently. My experience here is vastly different than most and what I thought was good service before with other Dermatologists at other groups turned out to be a shame. Had I been diagnosed correctly all those years ago my life would be much less stressful. Yes my update on previous will be pending. The office is very nice and comforting. Plenty of seating, quiet and the front desk staff is very friendly, even at 7:30am (yes early appointments if needed). My doctor works 3 of the North County offices so my first referral here took a few weeks to get, but after that on my 2nd flair up only took a week. Not too bad. I was both early and late on my visits without issue. I was able to be seen, scraped, biopsied and out the door in less than an hour each time. Co-pay for both PPO and HMO insurance was a breeze (yes I changed methods because my PCP is really easy at giving referrals) The rooms and hallways are nice as are the tools they use, the latest technology. He even was kind enough to work out a mail prescription to save me money, which for the proper treatment is not even an issue. I can't speak to any other Doctors here, but my experiences here have been impeccable. My family is medically inclined (mom RN, dad corpsman, sister doctor, aunt RN, cousin doctor, aunt PA). So our family dinners often turn to medicine. I let me knowledge speak for itself and being a businessman and Accountant I find it easy to navigate the medical world, which I know can be difficult for some. Sounds like many of the other Doctors need to get on Dr. Bradshaw's level. read more

This is the best dermatologist ever. They are very quick to get you in if you have a concern after surgery. They take their time to answer your concerns. My derm here also used cosmetic technique to stitch something up, and I'm so thankful because now there will be minimal scaring. I am extremely happy and never would want to go to another dermatologist. I've met 3 or so dermatologists in their practice, and all 3 were top of the line dermatologists and super kind and professional. I visited the Oceanside office again two weeks ago and saw Dr. Kristen Aguirre. She has now done three biopsies on me and all were benign. I would not be as concerned if the one she did on my arm was not a scar. I told her it was a scar. If she cannot tell a scar from a possible cancerous lesion than she should not be practicing medicine. I am a person, not some animal that she can just hack on. I would recommend going to another location or someplace different from Dematology Specialists. read more

I am about ready to change Derm group. When making my appt. office help was short with me concerning my insurance. Stating she knew what she was doing because she's done this for a long time. Stating that I needed a referral. After numerous phone calls. I spoke to a person who agreed that I did not in fact need a referral. It took 2 weeks for them to call me to tell me my biopsy results. Quite interesting that my Dr signed off on the results one week before the office notified me. Also, they did not return phone calls concerning a treatment that I had questions about. It's now been 3 business days and no call. Even though I feel comfortable and confident with Dr Wong, I feel the office personnel support is extremely lacking in follow up calls and communication! read more

I went to Dr Wong for Mohs surgery, he was excellent. I would recommend him to everyone. Great bedside manners and very personable. I had surgery above my eye and on my nose. I have had many surgeries like this before and plan to go back to Dr. Wong for any future surgeries. He has compassion not always exemplified with all doctors. read more

They've got nerve calling themselves "specialists." I got the distinct feeling they wanted to rush me in and out. They told me that a small wart on my nose could be a pre-cancer and recommended that they leave it alone and that I should just keep an eye on it. I insisted they freeze it off. They did and months later it's never returned. They told me a tag on my right cheek was a hereditary condition, which I knew was total BS. My regular doctor later froze it off and it's never returned. It's a sad situation when the patient knows more than the doctors do. This place is a bad joke and they need to get their license pulled... period. read more

From the start it was a nightmare. I received my authorization in the mail and contacted the office to make the appointment. I kept getting the run around and they said they would call me back, which they never did, so I called again and again. Finally, my primary care office had to intervene and call to get me the appointment, took them two calls. I found the office staff rude, unhelpful and totally unprofessional. When I finally got in, things were no better in person. Very cold and impersonal. A bit of a condescending tone which I don't usually tolerate. I found the doctor cool and it seemed as though I was bothering him by being there. My follow up appointment wasn't much easier. Took a while to finally make contact with the office and get the appointment. I left two voicemails which were never returned. Doc was even cooler and I am happy to be finished with this place. The only reason I went to the first appointment at all is because this is the only option my insurance offered. I know this because I tried to get another referral and was told this was the only one in my plan. If you have another option, I recommend you use it. With this many bad reviews...they are doing something wrong. I recommend a whole new front office staff as a starting point. Incompetent and inconsiderate. read more

They didn't see a skin cancer cell and did not give an accurate facial cancer procedure!...they get you in and get you out for the motivating BUCKS!! This review is about the front desk at this facility, not Dr. Wong or any of the others. Dr. Wong is great. We arrived yesterday at 11:10 for and appointment. We ended up waiting until noon to finally get in. Nobody at the front desk bothered to tell us that we were already 45 minutes behind just walking in the door. And truly, I'm not sure we would have gotten in at noon if I hadn't complained. So what is it, folks? Is it just too much trouble for your staff to let people know what's going on? You can't take the time to let them know what the schedule looks like? Could you even (God forbid!) text us to let us know beforehand hand that everything is backed up before they arrive at the facility? That WOULD be the nice thing to do. It might even indicate that you assign some value to OUR time as well as your own. By the way, this is not the first time this has happened. The problem is not new. read more

The doctors are good, but you have to get through the front desk people first. Good luck with that! We have not choice but to use this dermatologist and are forced to work with the receptionists at the front desk. When you call, they make you wait on hold for 20+ minutes and then hang up on you. When you do get through, they are extremely rude and it's like pulling teeth just to get any information from them. I understand no one wants to work right now and everyone is understaffed, but these people were like this even before the Covid! I'm so glad my daughter is weaning down from having to see them so I don't have to deal with these people any more!!! read more

Do Not go to Dermatology Specialists on Vista Way. I cannot speak badly against their Doctors, but their staff is inept. I was diagnosed with basal cell in early June and the staff of Dr. Wong failed to send a request for my MOH's procedure to my insurance company until July 24th. Twice I called the staff to ask for an update as to when procedure will be approved, and twice the staff was dishonest with me. Both times the inept staff gave me the excuse, "my insurance company is slow to approve." Upon calling my insurance, that is when I learned the staff of Dr. Wong waited over 30 days for my MOH's procedure request. Shocked and dismayed to say the least. ZERO STARS read more

Today was my first ever full skin check from a dermatologist. I saw Dr. Gilboa. To be honest, the tone of the receptionist was cold and unwelcoming. After completing my new patient forms, I returned to the front desk to hand them in. A lady took them from me, and asked, did the nurse do your chart? Seriously? How am I supposed to know? Aren't I the patient? Dr. Gilboa had more of a conversation with my 2 year old than she did with me. When I expressed my concerns, she would just answer with, "Do you wear sunscreen?" Twice she did that. My appointment was at 2:10. She came in at 2:25 and was out in less than 5 minutes. I felt like she didn't care and was more concerned with speaking with her colleague outside of the door. I won't be back and will discourage others from waisting their time there. read more

Might just have the rudest scheduling person every employed. I called to schedule an appointment for an exam; but there office needs a referral from my insurance company. My insurance company approved the referral early last week. The person who handled my call said they did not have the referral yet. I tried telling her that it had been approved last week but she insisted they did not have it, and she flat-out refused to check any further. I'm not sure why my PCP would have the approval and Derm Specialists would not, that should be worthy of further investigation. Yet this woman would not take the next step. It was clear she just wanted to get me off the phone. Looks like I'll need to get another referral to an office with more customer friendly staff. read more

I was initially very impressed upon walking into this office. Aesthetically, it is very nice.. beautiful design and a clean atmosphere. The front office staff seemed OK.. no rudeness or anything like that encountered. Dr Samadi saw me, and did a quick once over and then told me what I would need.. which would in total cost me $1750. I asked if he gave cash discounts.. and he said "this is already cheaper than what i would charge with cash discount" This was the quote for 5 small cysts being removed. Fast forward to today, a week and a half later.. I received a call from an unknown phone number which I don't usually answer, but I did, and I didn't hear a word after I said hello, so I waited.. and heard "looks like Andrea is POOP outta luck" I thought to myself... who the heck is that talking about me?!??! then she said "this is Jenn from Dermatology Specialists, calling to make an appointment for your procedure." Initially I didn't want to burst her bubble about knowing she was talking smack... so I went along and made the appointments... then I called my insurance provider to ask how much they were covering. When I found out that my Specialist copays dont happen until $5000 deductible was met... I decided to call around to Dermatologists with good reviews...I found one in Encinitas... called about my issues.. and they told me they would charge $500 for everything... OK.. that's a little better!!! Needless to say, I called back Dermatology Specialists to cancel my appointments, and the same lady answered the phone... she knew who I was...must have caller ID... or was mortified at the possibility that I heard her, so, maybe I became the talk of the morning in the office. I have a bit of advice for her in the future... A) Not many people answer their phone when its an unknown number B) Leave a message and I will call you back C) Usually when the phone stops ringing on the callers end... the receiving person has PICKED UP THE PHONE. read more

Dr. Gray seemed very knowledgeable about several issues that I brought up and spent time discussing each one. She was very thorough. I highly recommend Dr. Gray. This place is in a new medical center and looks very professional inside. But wait until you deal with the front office there!!! HORRIBLE!! Unprofessional and rude, and the ladies up there all act like you're bothering them! When you call into the office they're even WORSE! They all have attitude (I was passed between the billing lady, appointment setter, and the front desk receptionist multiple times) and act like we're bothering them! They give out false information, and just make the whole experience there regrettable! This does NOT stand for the Doctors or the medical assistants that work in back. They are actually all very helpful, polite, professional, and easy to talk to. I have been there multiple times for a serious condition, and if it wasn't for the fact that I have already started treatment there, I would NEVER step foot in there again! If there was a way to deal with only the back office then I would recommend this place. If there was a no star possibility, this office would definitely get it. One word to describe my visit to this office would be "Unethical" My first thoughts upon arriving were "wow" this office is nice. I had a positive first impression. The staff in the front was nice and very friendly. They collected all of my information in the front including my insurance and other documents they make you fill out. Everything seemed to be going well until I got to the back. Dr. Speelman was suppose to help me with getting cortisone injections on my ears and back. She barely even looked at me before she starting going off about how I needed a "Dr's Referral" to even be serviced in her office. I was confused because her office called me schedule an appointment, so I went in there with the impression I didn't need one. So here I'm thinking "wow" she must have a special type of office because I'm pretty sure I pay for the type of insurance that doesn't even need a doctors referral. Yes folks, I have PPO insurance NOT HMO insurance. So while I was there, (like she felt sorry for me) she said they weren't going to charge me anything because it was a free consultation (The key word here is FREE). As I walked out of the office really confused as to why I was even there. It felt like such a waste of my time. I called my real doctor as I was sitting in my car in the parking lot confused. And of course, I was right and I didn't need a doctors referral. So now I was just annoyed. I called their office and told the first person that answered the phone what had just happened, she had no response, which automatically tells me that she knew that wasn't right. So I'm placed on hold for 10 minutes and finally the office manager answers and apologizes for my visit. She obviously knew that Dr. Speelman misinformed me and pretty much wasted my time with that so called visit. So I decided to not fully give up on them, so I had them reschedule me at their Solana Beach Office. Just when I thought everything was going great, I received a summary and a bill from their office. The best part is when I was analyzing the summary, Dr. Speelman decided to go ahead and charge me for my "Free Consultation." Woohoo for me! read more

Every time that I contacted them for anything, such as scheduling or insurance, they would tell me they needed to call me back, then never did. Inept referral and authorization team - didn't know the difference between my employer and medical group causing delay in treatment for serious condition - required numerous phone calls from insurance company to resolve- the leadership should be embarrassed and spend time educating their team on being able to determine a medical group from an employer when seeking authorization- the provider however was excellent. read more

Negligence with laser treatment. Burnt eyelid. Fried eyelashes. The laser technician, Patricia Sparks RN, was performing hair laser removal and she removed the metal eye goggles away from my eyes so that she can treat an area on the right side of my nose. She said the eye goggles were in the way and she removed them. As soon as she activated the laser on the right side of my nose, the laser beam hit my left eyelashes. I felt intense heat on my left eyelid and can smell burning hair. I loudly said "ouch!" and told her to stop. I jumped off the table to look in the mirror and my left top and bottom eyelid was red, and the inside and exterior of my eyelid felt hot like a burn. My eyelashes were visibly damaged. I was shaken up and Patricia loudly said to me to "Relax!" She gave me an ice pack and placed aloe on the burn. I remained nervous because my eyelid felt hot. She continued to tell me that not relaxing was not going to help and again said "relax!" Before we walked out of the room, she said " I am only going to charge you for lip and chin today and we are good and I'll see you in 4 weeks for the next session?" I was still in shock and now appalled that she thinks charging a fee for 1 area vs. 2 areas makes the experience "all good" and that she expects I will return for round 2! She didn't take any accountability for her huge mistake. She walked me straight to the front desk and said to the receptionist to charge me for lip and chin. I was in shock due to a surreal experience and did pay the fee. I then asked to see a doctor because my eyelid was hurting a lot. I was told that all the doctors at 11:30 am were out to lunch. I insisted to see a doctor and was asked if I wanted to speak to office administrator. I said yes. After just a few minutes, the chief administrator officer, Jane Lisk, greeted me and guided me to Dr Samady. He took pictures and closely assessed the burnt area and my eyeball. He said to treat the burnt area with aloe or aquaphor and it didn't appear that the laser hit the eyelashes follicle and no visible eye damage. He said it was good that my eyes were closed because the laser can't go through the eyelid skin. His primary concern was that there was no visible damage to the eye and suggested to see eye doctor. I did see my eye doctor and thankfully no laser damage to my eye. The eye doctor also said thankfully my eyes were closed or could have resulted in serious damage or eye loss if laser would have directly hit the eye. Lesson: NEVER take the eye googles off for laser treatment. Take away: don't go to this office for laser treatments with Patricia. read more

Ok so I checked the reviews on this office in particular Dr Wong as this office was the only one that my insurance worked with. I had a basal cell and needed morhs surgery, I was scared after reading everything and this surgery was going to happen in the middle of my face;(. Well pan forward a couple of months, I had the surgery with Dr Wong 3weeks ago and I could not be happier. I did have a conversation with the Dr about my fears and he was very reassuring, kind and gentle and I took the band aid off this Monday and there is hardly any mark on my face, nothing anyone else would see. I also had no problems with the front desk or any of the nurse staff. The office is beautiful and I felt very taken care of. If in doubt please give them a try and voice your concerns, you will be looked after. read more

I actually enjoy handing over my cc to them! I was told about a promotion that would save me money and whenever I go in to 'redeem' said promotion, the sweetie there is just as happy as I am to help me save money... then comes my doctor... Dr. Speelman... an angel I tell you ... very gentle, personable, professional... the best... with all due respect to the other doctors there... I think Speelman is the best there! I've currently been going to this office for the past few years. I saw Malia Sering for my annual skin check up on my first visit. She was very informative and took extra time to answer all of my questions. Fortunately, I didn't have anything on my skin to be concerned with so I was good to go for another year. I recently returned for my yearly check up and due to my schedule I had to see a different doctor. I saw Dr. Venkat this time and I am equally happy with my visit. I had to have a few spots removed and he was great at explaining the procedures and made sure I was comfortable. read more

As others have stated, there are several issues with staff. In the last two years, I have had them incorrectly bill my insurance twice (they have my insurance card yet continued to file it incorrectly, blame me, make me pay for the full visit and then only the first time did they even apologize once *I* got my insurance on the phone to show that yes, I do indeed have coverage). They continuously mess up the doctor's orders delaying my medication by nearly a week, which is a problem when you're on a long-term medication that you cannot delay or skip. It's extremely difficult to even get an appointment. I have to see the doctor every 30 days like clockwork to fill my prescription but they are booked 45 or more days out. They are hard to get ahold of on the phone. Their messaging system says to leave a voicemail and they will call you back because they are experiencing staffing shortages but they never call back. I had to call multiple times to get my son's biopsy results days after they were supposed to call me with it. read more
