Out of all the restaurants at CHS, I think this spot has the best food. DeSano serves Neapolitan-style pizza that honestly isn't outrageously priced for airport food. Funny enough, our cocktail tab ended up costing more than the pizzas. We always order the same thing: the DeSano with pepperoni and sausage. The crust is the standout -- beautifully charred from the brick oven with that perfect hand-tossed chew. Good sauce-to-cheese ratio and solid toppings every time. Service wasn't overly friendly, but the staff was clearly hustling and working hard to get orders out quickly during the airport rush. read more

I mean. What is this. For $17 a personal pizza has half no cheese or sauce on it. It's cooked bread on one side. It tastes ok but absolutely not worth it. Not a hairnet in sight either. You would be better off at Burger King. I didn't find anyone to be at all happy to be there. The seating area is small. The pizza was really delicious and the crust was thin with an airy crust. It did have a layer of oil, so if that is a problem be sure to grab extra napkins to dap it off. The wait was within reason for an individual pizza baked to order. The staff were friendly and efficient. They had enough seats while I was there, but it is an airport terminal and can be noisy. Delicious! As a garlic lover, I thoroughly enjoyed the Desano. It combines my favorite toppings, pepperoni and sausage, and fuses it with my love of garlic. This pizza was amazing. It was fresh and piping hot with a nice char from the wood fire oven. The cashier that took my order was all smiles and very friendly throughout the entire transaction. The employees preparing the orders were also very friendly when calling out people's orders and took their time preparing the orders. I spent a little over $30 and ordered the Desano pizza and meatballs. The toppings were fresh and tasted like quality ingredients. The crust was airy and crunchy but soft in the middle like an Authentic Neapolitan pizza. The meatballs came in a nice size order and tasted fresh and super cheesy. The oregano sprinkled on top made the perfect finish and the fresh bread that accompanied the meatballs made it the perfect dish. The place felt inviting and had enough sitting in case you want to dine in rather than wait at your gate. They also have a selection of prepared sandwiches and salads and a bar area located inside the restaurant for anyone who wants to sip on a cold drink. read more

DeSano's pizza is very good. For a quick serve pizza at an airport, it's shockingly good. The service is friendly and fairly efficient. And they're located, with seating, near the end of the terminal, convenient to a number of gates. If you're on a very short time crunch, it could be unideal. Since the pizzas are made to order, it takes a few minutes before they're ready, though they're ready faster than you'd expect for a pizza as good. The pizzas also come out very hot, so if you were planning to get the pizza and immediately wolf it down, that could be challenging. But, the pizzas are a fairly authentic Neapolitan style, made in fiery ovens right in front of you. Good crust, good cheese, very good meats, etc. read more

Surprisingly decent pizza from an airport. I typically don't engage with eateries at airports because I stalk the lounges but also they tend to be expensive and not very good. We had a short enough flight where there wasn't hope of getting anything to eat other than a mini package of cheez its (which, let's be real, wasn't going to cut it) but long enough that we wouldn't realistically be able to eat for quite a while. The food in the lounge was just meh and pizza literally always hits the spot. I was actually expecting more of a restaurant vibe but this is an order-at-the-counter-and-good-luck-finding-a-seat situation. You also can't do slices but rather an 11 inch pie or calzone. We weren't dilly dallying so just ordered a margarita. As luck would have it, some people were literally getting up the minute we were looking for a seat. You will have to wait for a little bit but I prefer that rather than getting some premade garbage. Considering that this pizza literally came from a place in the airport, it tasted very good. The crust was thin and so thin in fact, that it was a bit soggy and flimsy. The flavor was good, pretty fairly sauced, adequate cheese. It was also steaming hot when it came out and I had to give it a minute before digging in. Surprisingly solid and a decent option while waiting for your flight. read more

Some of the best service me and the family have ever received. Can't even remember the name of this super delicious pizza. They make it right in front of you the flour everything, the staff was super wonderful and I feel that it's crazy that this TASTING of pizza is only in the airport. Not wanting burnt pizza but I opted for a Chicken Ceasar salad thinking this will be quick and easy while I wait in the airport. Think again. I stood by a register where the cold sandwiches, salad, convenience drinks were while the 1 girl slowly making a pizza and another were just chit chatting away. They don't acknowledge you and they just keep conversating. Probably stood there for a good 5 minutes. Eventually the one making the pizza tells me I have to go pay at the bar. Not a "hello", "be right with you" "oh you can't pay here you have to go walk over to the bar this way". Nothing. It felt more like she was telling me to go away don't stand near them while they chatted some more. Okay sure. I walk to the bar and I'm standing there. 1 worker is on break just sitting at the bar. He turns around looks at me. Then minds his own business. That's cool....am I at the right spot?? Then guess what? One of the girls chit chatting to the one making pizza finally comes over and rings me up. Are you for real? This is such horrible customer service and buying a salad shouldn't be so hard. For an airport pizzeria, this is a good spot, especially when your flight is delayed. The bartending staff is super friendly, and the service is fast. Pours of wine are generous, and they have a good variety of adult beverage offerings. They also have two Marra Forni ovens and quite a lot of seating for such a small space at a smaller airport. We got the Diavola pizza and it was tasty! Spicy, covered in a lot of cheese (which I love), came out quickly, and had ample toppings. Funny to find this spot at the Charleston, SC airport, but honestly was the best option we could find and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Was it indicative of other DeSano Pizzerias we have been to previously, no, but it was still a good spot for dinner and 1/2 the pie came home with us on the plane for breakfast the next morning. Try it out! But do know the Diavola does get oily after baking becuase there are a lot of meats and salamis on it. It is messy, but good. read more

Sadly last night after waiting hours for a delayed flight I went to DeSano's in Concourse B of the Charleston International airport and ordered a Desano Pizza and Apple Juice . I was shocked that the pizza was by far the worst pizza I had ever experienced in my life . I am 69 years old and have had a lot of pizza but this pizza first all was flooded in grease . I tried soaking up the grease and 8 soaked napkins later it was still full of grease . I tried to take one bite but the meat tasted terrible . I couldn't even teel if it was from the grease or not but I totally lost my appetite . I had eaten at Desano's in Charleston proper years ago and it was great and so I am not certain what has happened at this location but it made my sick to my stomach. For an airport pizza joint this place is LEGIT! They have brick ovens and make each pie to order. The dough had a great chew and the perfect bit of char and the toppings were perfectly balanced! 2 people can share a pie (it's not a mini pie but rather the size of a medium pie) but since I'm greedy I devoured 3/4 of it all by myself lol! This review was elevated from a 3 star to a 4 star based on service alone. I feel like I sound like a broken record when it comes to airport food. There is just not that many places that fall in the "good food" category when it comes to dining in an airport. Prices are high and quality is lower. But the things that the staff can do to improve your experience can make the difference in a review like this. Desano's food fell right in the middle of airport food experiences I have had. That is why they started at 3 stars. But the lady behind the bar was extremely friendly and attentive. I originally was going to get a calzone, but she warned me on the wait time. Nothing else really stood out that could be quick since my flight was boarding in 15-20 minutes before I came. She had the quick solution of being able to get meatballs asap if she went and got them herself... which she did. The meatballs were decent, but the bread was hard. But this friendly bartender is what put my experience a little bit further. read more

Their quality is consistent, tangy San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh cheese blends, and crisp and chewy, lightly charred Neapolitan crust. I often get this for lunch on the way for long flight as it beats not only airline food, but most restaurants where I connect. I equally recommend the Desano and the Lasagna pizza. The Diavola is good too when you want a spicy pizza . It's worth carrying on the plane for the next meal. Okay so Desano is due for an update. It's strange that the amazing downtown location has since closed its doors and this sub par version is still trucking. Obviously they have the traffic of the airport so it would be difficult for them not to be successful. I will say that I've been to Desano here in Terminal B a couple more times since my last review and have had significantly better experiences. Not to say they were great as they still have plenty of room for improvement but it does seem they've worked out many kinks from before. They honestly need to work on their portion sizes which would also help with pricing. Sometimes you don't need a whole meal or giant sandwich when you're traveling solo. I would go here more often if they would make some more menu updates. Instead it drives me to other locations in the airport. read more
