Not sure why they rave about this place. No menus posted so when you order something you don't really know how much would your check be, no prices displayed at all. Ordered a pie and I think it was a big mistake, the crust was cooked at the bottom but raw where it meets the toppings. I should've ordered by the slice since apparently they bake a pie, sliced and when you order your toppings your slice goes back in the oven and bakes again fully cooking the crust? Included in the order there is a 2 litter soda, prix fixe but it all comes as a surprise when you pay and had no choice but to take it even after saying I didn't care for the soda. Sometimes you just gotta stick to what you know. Take one thing and do it really well. They just sell pizza and they only have 7 toppings but the pizza is excellent. Whenever I'm nearby I call in an order for a half cheese half pepperoni. The pizzas all come with a 2 liter of soda which I don't usually need but I feel like the price is reasonable with or without it. They also do slices which is nice too if you just want a quick bite. No atmosphere as there is only a couple tables but it's pretty much a takeout only spot. read more

Antonios is the best pizzeria in Charleston. They started with only one topping (pepperoni) and now they have a few more including meatballs, which are hand-made in house. The service is quick and always attentive. This is part of my families weekly routine, perfect for a family night. One large pie feeds our little family of 4 and sometimes we have extras. I didn't want to give any stars but I thought I would be neutral, after browsing the menu, it seems you can't just order a pizza with 4 toppings. The menu says if you're getting a 3 top or 5 top it's required to pick 3 for the 3 top pizza and 5 for the 5 top pizza, what if I want 4 topping? To say the pizza you pick is required to have a certain number of topping is wrong no one else does that. read more

Was craving some pizza one Sunday and stumbled upon this place. It was a bit out of the way for me but the reviews indicated it would be worth it. I walked in, was greeted immediately and able to order. I got two pepperoni slices and they are the closest I've had to NY pizza since living there. This is a place in Charleston's suburbia that lines the highway leading to the rest of civilization, a handy stop for those of us that often drive out of the city around dinnertime looking for a quick bite. The menu is about as simple as you'll ever see: you can get pizza by the slice or whole. For me, the only option I could eat was cheese (and if you're vegan or gluten-free this is not the place for you). They have no vegetable toppings and no salads. This is a pizza slice place. My two slices were ready quickly, and the taste was on point. A rich cheese menu with an extra zing that you rarely find outside of the Northeastern states, a crust with a delightfully browned exterior, and high quality sauce. What more could you ask for? They had a combo with drink, but it was a bunch of sugary soft drinks or water, so I just got water. Given how much bottled water I carry, I wish I'd just stuck to slices. But I try to rate places on how well they do what they're claiming to do, and for a NY-style pizza by the slice, they do it right. Note: The shopping center turnoff is very close to another turnoff that leads to a separate parking lot that doesn't connect to the one with the delicious pizza you came for, because whoever designed this complex with two unconnnected parking lots is a moron. But that's not the restaurant's fault. The correct turnoff is the second one. read more

The talk of Dorchester Road the last couple of days has been nothing but Antonio's! Everyone I know who had tried it, said it is amazing. Everyone I know who had not tried it yet, made plans to go. We got word Saturday afternoon that as soon as they opened the line was out the door. We started to go, then said no, then said absolutely YES!! The shopping plaza parking lot was packed with people waiting out their time for their pizza. We got in line and as soon as you walked up the smell was amazing. When pizzas previously ordered were ready the owner started calling out names. John B., Jeff T. Once the person heard their name and grabbed their pizza we got everyone cheering and clapping in excitement for what they were about to get to eat. When it was our turn to order we knew from other friends who'd been there already that we could order by the slice. One cheese, one pepperoni please. They really wanted us to get a two liter of sodi pop but neither Diane or I drink it, so we passed! The owner could definitely feel our positive energy and joy and came around front to take a picture with us. How cool is that!! Everyone is correct on this one. The pizza is amazing. Fresh, great cheese, pepperoni, sauce and the best crust. This is so close to my house and will be in the local restaurant support rotation. Don't walk, run! Full disclosure: I hail from Detroit and have never been a New York pizza aficionado. I can't say with any authority what makes a great NY-style pie. But, I am a lover of all pizzas. Antonio's has good pizza. I knew I had to try this shop when I learned that they only serve two toppings: cheese and pepperoni. I am always intrigued by restaurants with a limited, take it or leave it approach. It usually means they're doing something right. We tried a pepperoni pizza, ordered to-go. There is some seating inside and a small amount of seating outside (Antonio's is located in a strip mall with a few other restaurants and shops). Our pizza was ready on time and came with a two liter of soda. The pizza was good. Slices were large and foldable. The flavors were solid. The crust was chewy. As a VERY picky New Haven native, it is impossible to find what I consider to be *good* pizza down here in Charleston. Until now, I would head down to La Pizzeria in Mt P for the nostalgic experience of pizzerias back home. A New York transplant friend of mine told me about Antonio's, and then I saw the dozens of positive reviews on Facebook and HAD to get there. My sister and I went on Friday and ordered a pizza just to ourselves. If I did this again, I would ask them to slice it twice so the slices aren't as large, but otherwise would not ask them to make ANY changes. This place not only reminds me of home, but the pizza is absolutely the closest I've found to the pizza I crave and only get to enjoy once or twice a year. I love that they don't hide behind toppings and sauces and instead only offer cheese and pepperoni pies. The price was fair for the gigantic pie. My only suggestion other than asking for a double cut would be to call ahead! We waited about 30 minutes on Friday night, totally worth it! read more

The best NY style pizza in the Charleston area. I grew up and lived in NY (LI) for 62 years and this matches the best pizza I've ever had in NY. Pizza in Rome is the best I've had so far but I haven't been to Napoli. I live in Mount Pleasant and it's about a 35 minute drive for me, but my wife and I drive out there every few weeks and pick up a few pizzas to take home and freeze. It's just past AFB Charleston, so the Air Force people have a great pizza place to go to! They also keep a NY pizzeria tradition going by giving you a 2 Litre bottle of soda with each take out pie! On the plus side, the pizza was absolutely enormous and fairly priced, as well as ready quite quickly after calling in an order to pick up a pepperoni pizza. The restaurant itself had a few tables, and was very clean and tidy. That said, I found the cheese to be pretty mediocre and a little sparse, and I would have liked a little more chew to the crust. I was happy to find that the sauce was not overly salty or very heavy, though. I think in the future I might like to try a plain cheese pizza and dine in to see if the quality is better without a 20 minute drive home. read more

Pizza in Charleston is hard. This was a much better option then a lot of pizza I've tried. I'm originally from Chicago and saw a ton of New York natives say how authentic this is.... I'm really not sure I can compare it to anything. Cheese and sauce were good, crust was more chewy (I like the crispy outside and soft inside) so def depends on your preference. I thought price point was absolutely fair because the pizza is GIANT. Owners SO SO nice, so go support this small biz over any of the pizza chains out there! read more
