I received quotes from 5 companies for a new AC unit to replace a 20+ year old one. I ended up going with Desert Diamond Mechanical for several reasons. I felt like several of the companies who came out to give estimates gave me a marketing pitch. They had high-gloss brochures and explained basic installation procedures as if they were some highly technical process that ONLY their company uses. Some made fancy computer models of our home in order to see if the current unit size was sufficient (though all of the companies did this even without a computer model and all had the same conclusions). Many of the costs were somewhat hidden in the estimates in the sense there were many back-end costs in order to keep the warranty valid with those companies. Some required 2 maintenance visits a year while others only one, however the cost of these visits varied greatly. Over all, all 5 of the companies I had come out were reputable and offered a quality unit. Jeff, from DDM, came out to our home to give an estimate for a new unit. He was straight forward and was not a salesman. He seemed to be an experienced installer who knew what he was talking about. No fancy brochures, no Costco cash card gimmicks, just an honest review of what needed to be done and what my options were. The estimate was just as thorough as the companies who had the glossy brochures, and I received an itemized email with everything that would be included- installation methods, parts, supplies, etc. DDM's price was just slightly less than a couple of other companies I was leaning towards. What really sold me was they included a 5 year warranty from the start with this price, when others were only giving a 2 year. It was going to be over $1000 more to get the 5 year warranty with these other companies. In addition, their yearly maintenance costs were less-so that saves $ in the long-run too. Several of the installation costs included with DDM were extra with other companies (for example if you needed a crane, this was included while others charged over $150). DDM offered the best value from all 5 companies I spoke with. Some of the other companies called me and said they would price match DDM. My thoughts on this were, why wouldn't you just give me the best price up front? When you know 4 other companies are competing for the job, it would make sense to give the best price up front instead of having your potential customer have to take the time to call you back and wait to see if you will meet another's price. DDM had great reviews, as did the other companies, but the value they were giving set them apart. I appreciated the honest, straight forward, and practical approach Jeff provided. Our neighbors were also pleased and we both used DDM to install our AC units. Mine was installed within a week of giving them the go-ahead. The installation was quick and everything was exactly as they stated it would be. Every time I had a scheduled appointment or visit with DDM, they were very punctual, polite, and efficient. I am very pleased with this company thus far, and so are our neighbors. My advice to anyone looking to get a new AC unit is obviously to research the companies, make sure the equipment you are getting estimates on are similar or the same (apples to apples), pay close attention to the back-end costs such as warranties and yearly inspection costs, look closely at what is included in the installation and what may be extra, and dont fall for gimmicks such as the 10% cash back offers like they have at Costco (the estimate from that company was over $2k higher!). Like one sales person from another company jokingly said, "if you want a $1000 cash card from Costco, we can charge you an extra $1000 and you can get one from us!" My last piece of advice is to make sure DDM is included in your list of companies to get an estimate from. read more

I knew my old air conditioner was soon to go. I noticed my electric bills from last summer were higher than normal. I called Desert Diamond as I found an ad that offered a reasonable price for a tune up. Cody came out for my tune up and I must say he was very professional, knowledgeable in his job, and honest about what he was telling me. He did not feel threatened by me being his shadow and asking lots of questions about my unit. He explained what parts were and what the readings should be and showed me the results as he checked them. After all was said and done my unit had 2 non working parts and the compressor was ready to go. It would cost me a third of what a new energy efficient unit would cost to repair. Cody did not pressure me into buying anything. He gave me all the scenarios and options and the decision was mine to make. No pressure involved. I asked him about the units they sold and got the information I needed to make my decision. He even called another knowledgeable service man (Steve) from their company to talk on the speaker phone with me and explain the unit I was considering. I got all my questions answered and my mind was made up. They gave me a wonderful price d/t being a first time customer and I received a special deal going on with the Trane company at this time (before the hot summer months). I also purchased their extended service warranty. My new unit was put on 3 days later. Ben and his apprentice (also named Ben) arrived on time. They too were very professional. The Smiley Crane also arrived on time. The work was done beautifully and smoothly. Ben took many pictures of the installation and showed them to me after the job was done. Clean-up was awesome. One would never know they were there. Lots of fine points I appreciated such as protecting my stucco wall from the ladder and using booties to cover their shoes inside my house. They included a programmable thermostat and Ben taught me how to use it. He had no problem answering my many questions. I will be trialing my new unit now and Desert Diamond will return in a week or so (what works with my schedule) to recheck the unit and make sure it is running to specifications. This company and its employees were AWESOME from the get-go. Jeff was extremely professional and spent a long time reviewing different options with us. He even put on booties when entering the house. He was clean and dressed with a company shirt. We were shopping for a new a/c, but did not plan on having it installed until cooler weather in the Fall. Jeff recommended minor things that would make our new a/c function to its full capacity. After trying to get 2 other estimates, we realized that Desert Diamond was our choice. One of the others could not fit us into their schedule for an estimate. The other company arrived with the owner and 2 workers. We couldn't get them out of our house fast enough. They were back woods characters, although they had some very positive reviews and wanted to give us an exceptional deal. There were too many negatives and our vibes told us to get rid of them. FOLLOW YOUR VIBES. Well, our a/c died and we were unable to wait until Fall. We called Desert Diamond and they were here installing a new unit the following day AND completed the installation within 8 hours. The 3 installers encouraged our questions and covered everything in the utility room, where they had to access to the attic. They totally cleaned up the yard, garage, and utility room. David, the lead installer, was patient in educating us with the new thermostat and answered all of our questions. After a long tiring very hot day, he was patient and in no hurry get on the road until he was sure that we were content, satisfied, and had all of our questions answered. All 3 of the employees were respectful and hard workers. Ask about AeroSeal. We are so appreciative that this was recommended. They did not give a sales push; they just provided information. No other company would have mentioned this because not many companies offer it. I had not 1 but 3 companies come out and check out my unit-- all sent my my AHS home warranty place... one even said we cannot replace your unit under warranty unless you take a unit we had left over from another job, all you have to do is pay for the other parts." So as a "Hail Mary". I called the top AC companies on yelp got a few quotes all within the same range (a couple hundred dollars from each other). Now Desert Diamond was the only one that told me, then showed me on their iPad, and SEND me exactly what they will be doing. They included each line item and the parts. They even gave me a website to look up each part. Then they guy (whose name escapes me) plainly said if I was not ready and had to research it he would leave and wait. Yes I know that is a partial sales tactic but it was not high pressure. He was not trying to up sell me or force me to make a decision (albeit he was hoping I would say yes). I was impressed. The install guys were great, did a quick job, left everything clean, I even had a home energy audit by APS and they said the installation (without doing a full system check) seemed to be "very well " done. My only annoyance was the install guys kept forgetting the fully close the garage door so cold air kept getting in. They follow up was great, they sent someone to check out the work. Of course the first 95s of the year and my a/c breaks, after reading some reviews I contacted Desert Diamond. Within a couple of hours Ernesto showed up in my door step, he went straight to work and found out we had bad rusted indoor coils and our system was leaking Freon, he gave me a repair estimate upfront and I was very impressed that he dint go straight into trying to sell me a new unit wich I was afraid of. Our unit was a Old 1992 Trane and after I requested we then compared the cost of replacing versus repairing. I decided not to throw bad money after good money and just replaced the whole unit. He helped me fill out all the financial paperwork right there in his tablet and got me approved in a matter of minutes, after i tough I couldn't be impressed anymore by this great company which I was already grateful to have chosen them. I scheduled an appointment with Desert Diamond Air Cooling for a routine long overdue air conditioning check. I picked this company based on their reviews and I was not disappointed. Ismael called within the scheduled time window and sated he would arrive in 30 minutes. He and his coworker arrived on time and were very professional. They had to figure out which air conditioning unit as mine since I live in a condo complex because the original air conditioning company who installed them did not label each unit with our unit numbers on them. Such a small thing that should have been down, but they figured out which one was mine. Ismael was very knowledgable. I had Kevin, with Desert Diamond, come out for a tune-up of my system today. This was the second time he has been out in a month's time frame. The first time was because I installed a new thermostat myself and found that it was cycling too often. I couldn't figure out why. Keven determined that nothing with the system was wrong and that the giant hole behind the thermostat was causing the problem. He suggested I get the entire system looked at and tuned up at some point in the future. So, I finally got around to having that done and Keven showed up again. He only found a few minor things that I could easily take care of myself. He didn't try and oversell me or convince me to let him do it which I actually really appreciated. Bare in mind my unit is 22 yrs old and while he did mention that fact to me, he didn't try and sell me a knew unit. He just suggested I keep that in mind. I was so impressed with their level of service that I purchased a service contract with them that gives me service with any breakdown within 24hours. I recently woke up and my AC had quit during the night. It was already late in the day on a Friday and I began to panic because I had to work and I had dogs! Desert Diamond is the best most trustworthy out there! I had multiple issues with my AC unit and had other contractors out (sent by my home warranty company) that couldn't fix the problems. Desert Diamond fixed it fast and were awesome to work with. So when the condensation line on my unit broke I called Desert Diamond to fix it. I called at 4:00pm and they had someone out here at 6:00pm the same day! My service tech was Steve Schilling and he was incredible. I trusted him to fix whatever he felt needed to be fixed. He was very honest about what really needed to be done without trying to up-sell me on anything. Cody and Jeff are dynamic! I had Desert Diamond come out to my house to repair some items found on my home inspection ( I purchased a new home). Prior to their arrival, the previous owner had already repaired the outstanding items but failed to inform me. When Cody and Jeff arrived to do the work they informed me that it appears the work had already been completed. We looked at the home inspection pictures against the pictures he took and what do ya know....the previous owner did repair it prior to our move in. It began in January 2018. I got a crazy idea to move our kitchen to give us an open floor plan. Our home is a John F Long home built in 1977. It was a very difficult task to find a competent HVAC company to do the difficult re-engineering of our system. I finally found Desert Diamond Mechanical. When I called Desert Diamond I requested that an AC technician troubleshoot a recurring problem with my AC unit. As the outside temp increased to 100 deg , the compressor would shut off intermittently and the air handler would continue to work. Mario, the AC tech, arrived yesterday afternoon and most importantly he LISTENED to my description of the problem. When he tested the unit's capacitor he noticed an irregularity that was only visible for a few seconds and then its functioning was back to normal. With no pressure placed on me to purchase a new capacitor, he indicated that it could be contributing to the problem. I authorized replacement of the part. The result was amazing.
