We found one of the only spots open at 8am on a Saturday for a quick breakfast. Our waitress was very nice and personable. She took our order and our food came out pretty fast. She kept our coffee topped off throughout our meal. I had the "Cruisin' Together" 2 eggs, 2 bacon, with gravy on top of country & hash browns. My partner had the French Toast Breakfast. We had a very large group of 15 people and she was completely on top of everything and remained calm and friendly the entire time. A great find after a long day of hiking. Friendly and attentive service and good value. We got the rib special, chicken fried steak and brisket. The ribs were delicious, fall off the bone. The brisket (though not fatty) was great (flavorful and not dry). The chicken fried steak was a good sized and tasty. My favorite was the ribs, then brisket then chicken fried steak. My husband heard good things about this restaurant which used to be an old classic. We weren't impressed with the quality. Most things were frozen and just warmed up--institution food. I ordered chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy plus corn. Not much flavor. He got a side salad with a little iceberg lettuce, brisket with bbq sauce, and baked beans. I feel like maybe we ordered on a bad night after reading some of the other reviews .. we made an order to go of a cheeseburger with fries, spicy cowboy burger with fries and a kids chicken strip with fries. Good things : it's literally the only place in this town open on Sunday! And the service was fast. Only 10 minutes from the time I called until we picked it up. Things that need work: the food just wasn't good. The actual hamburger patty itself was great which means the burger has potential though. The cheeseburger was bland, I came home and added my own toppings. It literally had one very small piece of lettuce, 1 tiny tomatoes and a sprinkle of 4 diced onions on only one corner of the sandwich. The sauce was minimal and only spread on one tiny part of the burger also. The bun was soggy. There was no flavor. The fries were way undercooked. Just an overall bad meal. As mentioned, I wonder if the cook is just having a bad night or something ... My husband had the same feedback about his meal. My one year old ate her chicken strips pretty well but her fries were also way undercooked. I guess my feedback is overall pretty negative - we may possibly try this place again hoping they just had a bad night, but if it wasn't in my home town I probably would only give 1 star, so take that as you wish ... read more

An Oasis in the desert! What a surprise to find such a fantastic diner in Panguitch, UT of all places. It's easily overlooked but definitely worth a stop! Just North of Bryce Canyon, it's the perfect place to stop at any time of day. It's reasonably priced and very good. We were a party of 5 and we tried two different versions of the smoked brisket sandwiches, a quesadilla filled with *burnt ends and cheeses, and a crispy chicken topped salad. It was all fantastic! Our waitress Thali was attentive, gracious and helpful. She recommended a sauce she likes to make for the quesadilla when she has one herself. She made it for my daughter's quesadilla and it was AMAZING! Most of us had sides of fries which were battered maybe? Extra good in any case. The rest of us had the mashed potatoes and gravy- also really good. I saw homemade giant cinnamon rolls on the desert menu for $7 which seemed a bit steep but I wanted to try it. Because who doesn't love a good cinnamon roll? We all split one and decided it was well worth it! If you follow my reviews, you'll know that even though I live in CT, I'm from Houston, TX and I'm picky about my bbq. Thali assured me that their meats were actually smoked- (yes, I asked- we are in Utah after all). The brisket was pretty solid and the sauce was tangy. It was especially good for what it was - a bbq sandwich in Panguitch. Overall it was a terrific meal at a reasonable price with great service. Excellent food, excellent service! The GPS took us off the interstate to US-89 and to the town of Panguitch, UT. Glad we stopped. My wife and I both had the King Brisket sandwich. The brisket in the sandwich was tender and flavorful. The tea was *brewed* and good which is a rarity outside of the southeast. And, for you truckers out there, there's PARKING! Not sure if you can overnight here. But, if you can then I bet they have an outstanding breakfast. This restaurant has been here 70 years and gets great reviews. Well worth the stop. read more

The Desert Grill-Barbecue was located across the street from our hotel making it convenient. The grills outside seemed like a good sign. The young waiter who served us was great. The food on the other hand was a little underwhelming. I don't know how you can have Barbecue in your title and two grills in the parking lot but the menu options that fit into that category are pork or beef brisket. No ribs of any kind anywhere on the menu. On top of that it was just okay. The brisket was not even served particularly hot. The zucchini strips were tasty. Ate here when visiting the Utah "Big 5" national parks. It was a little out of the way from Zion to Bryce, but was worth it and we wanted to escape the standard tourist spots. Happy we did. We sat at the bar (lunch counter?) and had the Brisket King sandwiches with a house salad (we try to get some veggies when travelling!). The sandwiches were great, brisket was a bit dry, but BBQ sauce on the sandwich fixed that right up and taste was good. Salad was a bit lackluster, but was fine.
