    Curry Goat & Potatoes
    Bronson S.

Best Caribbean food I've had in the valley! I got the curry goat and potatoes with rice and peas and cabbage. My dad got a side of johnny cakes to share. Everything was very fresh. The johnny cakes came out steaming hot and were so soft with a crisp skin and just slightly sweet taste. The curry goat was super tender and full of flavor from all the herbs and aromatics. The potatoes absorbed all that flavor and tasted amazing too. The portions were generous, so I was able to have some for lunch the next day. I would definitely come again, the food and service were amazing!

Best Jamaican food in the valley! The curry goat and beef patties were incredible. Finished with the refreshing pineapple and ginger juice. Can't go to any other Jamaican spot, this place is the best!

If you're searching for an authentic flavor escape, you have to discover Desert Island Eatery! This family-owned cafe flawlessly captures the vibrant, tropical essence of the Caribbean islands, delivering a true flavor party with every bite. Their diverse menu is a dream come true for everyone, boasting an absolutely HUGE selection of mouth-watering vegan options alongside fantastic choices for meat-eaters. Honestly, this is some of the best food I've ever had! The jerk tofu was to die for, and I still don't understand how they made the cabbage in that dish taste so unbelievably good - it was mind-blowing! The dining area is small but incredibly comfy, and the friendly, welcoming vibe makes you feel right at home. I've already been twice this month, and Desert Island Eatery has instantly jumped into my top 5 favorite restaurants. Seriously, do yourself a favor...please come eat here! You won't regret it.

The food was very authentic. Vee was real cool and patient. This might be some of the best jerk chicken I've had in a while. This is definitely my new go to spot when it comes to Jamaican food. Thank you!

Vibing joint, Caribbean music fills this place. Food is on point, jerk chicken is authentic in taste with rice and cabbage. I'm not a cabbage person but this cabbage was special. The chicken was falling off the bone with so much flavor. Definitely coming back and recommending this out of the way Jamaican food joint.

The menu as of March 2026

The owners are very welcoming, down to Earth, and great cooks, it's a comfortable place to order and eat in, I brought my family & all 5 of us had no complaints or critics other than the fact that everything we tried was FIRE! The jerk chicken was soooo good, they have that charbroiled taste under that authentic jerk seasoning- so good! The oxtails were tender, flavorful and delicious! The cabbage and rice and beans were soooooo well seasoned and they're the default side items, they let you switch out the sides if you choose to, but you can't go wrong with some rice and beans with cabbage! I will definitely be commuting to this spot for my dining experience A LOT :)

I first was introduced to this spot through their stand at a farmer's market and the chicken patty was absolutely delicious. The owner informed us that they had a store front and gave us the cross streets. Today we stopped by to order take out. While the store front is small, there is an outdoor area where you can enjoy your meal. I ordered the chicken patty as well as the Carribean BBQ chicken meal. I was made aware that in addition to the standard yellow rice they offered as a selection for the platter, they had "fiesta rice as well so I decided to try that. I loved the flavorful rice which included beans and other veggies. Everything was delicious. My nephew's girlfriend ordered a side of the vegan Mac n cheese and I got to taste that and thought it was good. They also have collards. I didn't order collards this time but plan to try them next time I order from them. Absolutely enjoyed my lunch.

Updating my review. We've loved this place for so long, but we went after they moved buildings and all of the food tastes different. Plus the portions seem smaller. I'm not sure if they changed recipes or just an off night with re opening the store. The Mac and cheese had green things in it, the tofu had a more orange appearance and a bit more spicy, the lentil balls were dry and the sauce was not great and the plantains were dry as well... I will give them one more shot because I really like this place, so I'm hoping for a better experience next visit!

This place is so cute! Me and my husband came to try this spot due to the vegan options! It's family owned and love that it has a homey feel to it. Very friendly family. It's small inside but there's a table where you can enjoy your food inside and plenty of outdoor tables. I decided to try the bbq tofu with potato salad, and vegan Mac and cheese. I was happy with the Mac and cheese. It doesn't taste vegan and it's made really well and the taste is delicious. The potato salad is sooo good! I loved how flavorful it was. The tofu is nice and I enjoy the flavor and love the amount they give. My husband loved his food! He doesn't like plantains, but this time he ordered oxtail, plantain, and yellow rice. He was enjoying everything he had and kept complimenting the plantains. Overall the flavors were delicious. The service was good and pretty fast for getting all the food out for us. Definitely recommend trying this place.

    Jerk Chicken

Phenomenal!! The chicken was so flavorful and moist. Cabbage was well seasoned. Everything complimented the chicken extremely well. Must try the drinks as well. The Island Mix was very fresh and was refreshing with the entree. Customer Service was great as well. Incredibly friendly and inviting. 10/10 recommend. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Food is INCREDIBLE. This was my first time trying Caribbean food, and I will definitely be back for more. I'm vegan so I was really excited to see all the options for me on the menu. I had the curry chickpeas and tofu, which was so flavorful and delicious. The sides of cabbage and rice and peas were excellent as well. The restaurant is to-go only so there's no indoor dining area, but the interior where you pick up your food is really inviting and pleasant. We called to order ahead since I heard the food takes a while, and our order was ready right on time. Everyone I interacted with during ordering and pickup was extremely friendly. This is probably one of my new favorite spots in Arizona, and I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu!

It was just cabbage. The rice and peas were yummy! The minus one star is because I didn't like that there were four small oxtails. For the price of $27 I was expecting at least one big one. I also didn't like the amount of bones in my brown stewed chicken lunch plate and the little amount of meat given. But then again, it was a lunch plate so I get it. Cue a brief episode of delivery confusion, a few phone calls, and me standing there hungry but trying to keep my cool. Here's the important part, I didn't want a refund. I didn't want credits. I just wanted my food. And this place made sure I got it. Was there a slight delay? Yep. Did it require some chitchatting? Sure. But the care, patience, and follow-through were genuinely above and beyond... and that matters. And oh my GOODNESS, the food. The jerk chicken wings (spicy) were sweet, warm, bold, and fall-off-the-bone tender... beautifully seasoned and downright addictive. That jerk sauce had depth and balance that kept me going back for just one more wing until suddenly... no wings. The chicken curry? Maybe not the exact version I'm used to, but still absolutely delicious. Comforting, flavorful, and perfectly paired with peas and rice, festival on the side, and a Jamaican ginger beer that sealed the deal. This was my first substantial meal in my new home, and it honestly couldn't have been better. A million out of ten. A bazillion out of ten. I'll be ordering again, and next time I'm going in person. If you like Jamaican food, or even if you just like food made with care, do yourself a favor and try this place. Next time I'm not holding back: patties and cocoa bread are happening. Thank you for turning a potentially frustrating moment into a warm, delicious, unforgettable one.

What we didn't know was Sundays are limited menu but that was ok. We had already decided we had to try the Jerk Chicken and Mum's fried chicken which are part of Sundays menu. We were served in to-go boxes which I also believe is because of Sunday limited service. But that's ok because it did not change the fact that the food was outstanding! The jerk chicken was probably the best I've ever eaten. Huge flavors with a hint of spicy. I ordered it with the Caribbean slaw which was amazing (I'm a slaw snob). It is slightly sweet but really crunchy. Mum's fried chicken was delicious as well. Fresh and juicy. It came with steamed veggies which were, well, steamed veggies. I'm not knocking them but they are what they are. We washed everything down with a rum punch and a cucumber margarita. Both were tasty. The more I drank the rum punch, the more I liked it (coincidence? I think not). Both meals came with a small cup of sauce. I'm not sure what it was, but I am as sure it was really tasty. From the moment you walk in, it feels less like a restaurant and more like you've been invited into someone's home for dinner. The cocktail program deserves its own shoutout. Every drink was thoughtfully crafted and easily some of the best cocktails I've had in the area. The service was warm, attentive, and genuine without ever feeling forced. As for the food, everything we ordered was excellent. The standout dishes for us were the goat cheese appetizer, the oxtail entrée, and the pound cake dessert. There wasn't a single dish that made us think, "we shouldn't have ordered that." At the end of the day, plenty of restaurants have good food. What sets this place apart is the overall experience. Great food, great drinks, great people, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. We'll definitely be back.

Starting with the appetizers, I'd say these two were my favorites of the night. The chicken wings (5 pieces) were tender and flavorful, featuring a very unique spice blend. The whipped goat cheese wasn't overly gamey, it was perfectly creamy and paired well with the black garlic honey, which tasted a lot like fig jam. The homemade chapati was great too. However, the ratio of cheese to bread was a bit off. We heard a server asking the next table if they wanted more chapati, so we assumed an extra piece was complimentary. We later found out we were charged $6 for it, which was a bit of a surprise tho. As for the entrees, the oxtail barbacoa was the biggest oxtail I've ever seen. It was packed with tender meat and rich gelatin, and the radiatori pasta with gouda was wonderfully creamy and delicious. The lamb griot was a unique dish I hadn't tried before, while the portion of lamb wasn't huge, it was very good. The plantains were amazing and slightly sweet, making the whole dish incredibly flavorful. Overall, it was a really cool experience. The food is highly seasoned and flavorful without being overly salty like most restaurants, though it is definitely on the pricier side. Our server was very busy that night, so checking out took quite a bit of time. The atmosphere is awesome with great decor, merchs, and live performances. ps. A Hidden Gem Worth the Drive!…read more I had the most amazing chicken dinner at Caribbean Palms! The chicken was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, with just the right amount of spice. The rice was absolutely delicious, and the plantains were cooked to perfection. What truly made the experience exceptional was the outstanding customer service. We interacted with three different staff members during our visit, and every single one was warm, welcoming, polite, and genuinely kind. You can tell they take pride in both their food and hospitality. I drove over 30 minutes from the other side of town to dine here, and it was worth every minute of the drive. There was a steady stream of customers picking up to-go orders, which speaks volumes about the quality of the food. While takeout is clearly popular, I highly recommend dining in and enjoying the full experience. I will absolutely be back and will be recommending Caribbean Palms to everyone I know!

The woman kept checking on me, and I actually liked that the cook brings out the food that's a nice personal touch you don't see everywhere. That said, the portions were underwhelming. I understand it leans more toward a dine-in experience, but the oxtail serving felt small. The presentation almost plays tricks on you it comes on a large plate with separate bowls for the sides, which makes it look like more than it actually is. On top of that, having to choose between cabbage or plantains felt a bit limiting for sides. The rice was a little dry and slightly hard for my taste, but I will say the plantains were really good sweet and done right. I couldn't help but compare it to another Caribbean spot I recently tried in Glendale, where the portions were generous and the oxtail was big, tender, and full of flavor. Here, the flavor was good, but it didn't stand out. I've definitely had better, so my expectations were a bit higher. Overall, it's not a bad spot it just feels pricey for what you get. I spent around $60 total: two cocktails at $15 each, plus the oxtail at market price (which can run $30-$40). The biggest plus is convenience it's close to home, so it's an easy option when I'm craving Jamaican food. But if I'm being honest... next time, I might still find myself making that drive back out to Glendale.
