The biggest issue was the attitude of one of the front desk staff members. Instead of being welcoming, professional, and helpful, the interaction came across as rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily unpleasant. I understand that medical facilities can be busy and stressful environments, but patients (especially when kids) should still be treated with basic courtesy and respect. The front desk is often the first point of contact, so having someone with a consistently bad attitude can negatively affect the entire experience. The medical care itself was very good, but customer service matters too. I hope management takes this kind of feedback seriously and addresses the situation so future patients are treated with the professionalism and respect they deserve. read more

The Desert Ridge Medical Campus housed two large medical buildings in the same parking lot. Today I visited Building B for two appointments. The building has three floors with an elevator to take you to your destination. There are signs in the hallway directing you to your place of business . The building is clean and tidy. Amazing care. My 8 year old daughter needed surgery, and it was seamless from start to finish. The office experience was clean, efficient, and felt calm. We had a hiccup getting narcotics for her after, and I felt cared for through the whole process. I would highly recommend for a seamless, caring experience. read more

I recently had surgery at Desert Ridge Outpatient Surgery Center and I had a great experience. Check in was fast, and there were plenty of documents to sign. Bring your ID and health insurance info. Preop prep was done professionally with questions about your meds, vital signs were taken, IV started. The nice touch is the warm sheet as blanket and the legs massage (by machine). The surgeon and the anesthesiologist met with me and answered my questions. I was then brought to the OR. Oxygen cannula was inserted in my nose and I was out. Completely! I woke up in the Recovery room with a nice bandage on my hand. The whole thing was painless. Amazing. read more

I had an endoscopy May 29, 2025 at Desert Ridge Outpatient Surgery Center. I was never asked about any teeth issues and never told I was going to have a plastic Bite block put into my mouth during my pre-op check in. Prior to being sedated, it was placed in my mouth. As I woke up from surgery and being rolled into recovery I noticed my front tooth was very loose. It was a crown on my front tooth, There was a female and male nurses or technitians by my bed and they both acknowledged my tooth was loose and said yes its loose, Don't touch it. Neither of them documented it and I was groggy so I didn't think to ask them to document it. When I called them the next day and further followed up about helping to cover the costs of the bridge I had to have they denied any responsibility. The attending Dr also denied responsibility because it was not noted. So if they don't write it down, it didn't happen. Shame on those nurses, employees of the Surgery Center, for not putting their patients first. I am now stuck paying a $5,000 dentist bill that couldve been avoided with a few simple up front questions. My Insurance has paid these Drs and Surgical Center plus they have E&O Insurance for times like this. However, they refuse to even negotiate a settlement with me. I highly recommend NOT using this facility and Always be sure to have anything that happens noted on your chart. read more

I called to make sure my time coming in they told me an hour earlier then what my time was . Called at 6:30 am they told me to get to the office at 8 or I'd be late if I got there at 9. too show up and the ladies ignoring and rude didn't help at all . Then I'm told my appointment isn't till 10 even tho I called and asked . The lady gave me false information and they still gave me attitude when it was there mistake . The nurse in charge or whatever she was comes out saying I could've took my daughter to school that I decided not too . Then goes to tell me that they do a pretty good job , while I'm telling them how they messed up. She had her attitude and didn't care about my situation . This review was from when I went in to get my tonsils removed in 2017. Facility was nice but my after surgery nurse was nothing like the nurses that are in these other reviews. She literally shook me awake and had me in the car within 5 minutes of being woken up. I didn't get a popsicle or was asked how I was feeling when I was moaning about being in pain. As soon as I was put in the car, my fiance had to carry me into the apartment we were living in at the time because I wasn't fully awake. I wasn't fully awake intill a few hours later. It seems like now they give you time to actually be awake before rushing you out of the surgery center. read more

Although no one enjoys a surgical experience, we were very happy with our experience. My husband needed a procedure, and the staff was very good about communication before, during and after the surgery. My husband received great care, and although I wasn't allowed in due to pandemic protocol, I received texts about his status throughout. I appreciate that very much! read more

I had a tonsillectomy here in May and was very pleased with my entire experience. All the staff was so friendly and informative. The nurse called me a few days prior to my surgery to verify my surgery time and set all the expectations for my surgery so there was no surprises. The day of my surgery the facility was very clean and taking great precautions due to COVID-19. We checked in, answered some health questions, and took our temps before even entering the doors. Made me feel safe they were being extra cautious. We sat down and discussed payment options before the surgery even started and then they brought us back to change and get ready for pre-op. The nurse was so nice and friendly that got me set up and comfortable before surgery. My surgery was very quick and when I woke up I had some trouble with the anesthesia and the nurse was there by my side the entire time making sure we were taking it easy. She was the sweetest. Kept calling my husband to keep him updated for pick up and asking me questions and getting me whatever I needed. She made sure I was completely woken up and better before they let me leave, there was no rush. I was so pleased with my entire procedure and the friendliness of all the staff I encountered. They called both me and my husband for a few days the days following to make sure I was doing well on post op. I highly recommend this surgery center. Thank you! read more

My surgery was 2 hours behind schedule, yet I had to be there 1.5 hours ahead of my scheduled appointment. I wasn't too happy about having to wait that long to finally have my procedure, especially since we live almost 2 hours away. I am sure some of that is scheduling issues or maybe doctor running behind, but either way 1.5 hours is not needed to register, check in, and get your pre-op stuff done. Not to mention the person who is waiting for you has to wait extra long because they are running behind. About 1 week after surgery I noticed a lump on my forearm where the vein is, it hurts pretty bad. I chalked it up to the IV, sometimes you get bruised (usually no big deal). However, it is now almost 3 weeks after surgery and I noticed it is not going away and I am starting to show signs of a bruised vein. I have a appointment with my Primary Care Manager, hopefully they can get it figured out. The recovery process made me feel a little rushed. I wasn't even coherent yet and I was being wheeled out and put into my car. I only remember bits and pieces of that night. I couldn't even open my eyes yet, I could only hear the two Nurses talking (most of it is a blur) as I was in and out of consciousness. I have no idea how I got dressed ( I assume) the Nurses dressed me, but I have no memory of it. I was so sick, I remember with eyes still closed, moaning and saying I need to throw up, then it goes blank again. I was literally knocked out in the car for the entire 2 hour trip home. I woke up briefly when my husband was taking me out of the car when we got home. He put me in bed (I have no memory of this) and I slept another 4 hours before being able to open my eyes. It was super scary, I think they should have other avenues for people that do not do well with Anesthesia. My husband later made the comment that he felt like this place is worried about making money, not the welfare of people. From the bits and pieces I do remember my recovery Nurses were super friendly and helpful (Sam and Linda). I am sure they are told to hurry up and get patients woke up and out of there. In my case I think I was the last surgery of the day and they were trying to go home. FYI: Most of the staff I encountered were very friendly and professional. There were a couple of interactions I had that could have been better. Receptionist was great, my pre-op Nurse was friendly (but she is the one who gave me my IV's and I am now having issues), I had two OR Nurses I only met one of them very briefly and she was not the friendliest. I know the Anesthesiologist is not part of the hospital staff, but they really need to use another LLC (horrible bedside manner). read more

I've had 2 surgeries here now and I absolutely love all the staff. They make it very easy for the patient. They call prior to surgery and the day after surgery to follow up. Everything was very well organized from what I saw and post op instructions are given prior to patient being medicated (this is important after). read more

This rating is for the billing department. The actual surgery center was great. On 10-9-19 my wife had outpatient surgery at this facility. We were told the amount due at check in was $1880 so we paid that amount prior to surgery. On October 23 I received notice from the insurance company that they paid their portion of the bill and our portion was $880.20!!!!!! We were overcharged a thousand dollars!!!! I immediately called the billing department and It was confirmed that they over charged us around a thousand dollars. The woman said the refund had to go through "Corporate" so it would take about ten days. As of 11-14 we have not received our money back so today I called billing back and she gave me almost the same answer, telling me it would probably be sent out by corporate next Tuesday!!! I told her that wasn't an acceptable amount of time for a refund and she tried to blame United Healthcare. I'm no mathematics professor but ten days from the October 23 would put the refund at my home around 11-2-19... It's 11-14-19 and no refund. Let the buyer beware!!!! read more

10 stars - Absolutely great place Desert Ridge Outpatient Surgery Center is a competent, people centric and good humored medical center, and I highly recommend. Wowser! 3 months after my visit, and I'm still relaxed, and actually smiling about the experience here, which is a huge, huge support in overall healing and well being - Thank you Desert Ridge, and very well done as a complete patient team. Lol, there's always room for refinement at any establishment at any given time, however, the above high standard of personable care and positive interaction I experienced at Desert Ridge Outpatient, deservedly earns full, top marks. I'm predisposed to high levels of anxiety and discomfort in some medical settings, so this positive experience was a double delight. From the greeting I received at front desk, to initial check-in and paperwork walk through with Karan (warm, friendly, professional and super competent), to pre and post op, the staff were, across the board, lovely. Moving into the pre surgery area (a little older looking, but comfortable), with warm lighting, lighter colors and a nice air of cleanliness (obviously clean and fresh, yet without the soaked-in-disinfectant aroma), set a good tone. The medical staff were warm, focused on the other patients, and exuded a sense of belonging and competence. This, coupled with the gentle friendly work atmosphere that permeated the rooms, contributed to taking down stress levels, notch by notch. At all times I felt grounded and comfortable - and less inclined to hunch up mentally inside, or bolt from the room, which is no mean feat! An air of ease and professionalism permeated the pre/post op area. As staff carried out their duties, they interacted alertly and nicely with each other, listened to me effectively, and overall, really made me feel safe and comfortable (noticing without my saying, that I was getting chilled, and cheerfully and kindly remedying that with a couple of warm blankets!) at every given moment. Several minutes after I was escorted in, I noticed not only was I at ease, but I began to calm down each extra second I was there. Laura's explaining things in clear people-speak (not rote, memorized points), what was to happening and what to expect, with warm reassurances, was much appreciated. I honestly felt calm, attended to, and as at ease as I could be with my upcoming procedure. The same goes to the waking up period - I was already primed by the staff and overall environment to feel good, and I awoke easily, with very low level disorientation, to easy on the eyes lighting, a comfortable and a genuine, friendly and welcome greeting, letting me know where I was, and additionally that all was well. Throughout, my visit, competence, caring, empathy and compassion gently interwoven in a natural way, were front and center. Laura T. and Laura B walked me in, kept me company, and counted me down, and then back to consciousness in a wonderful way. Specific and abundant kudos for awesomeness to Brian who encompasses everything we hope a nurse should be - I highly commend and recommend him. He's an honest to goodness person, who should definitely remain in the medical and healing arena. He was alert, gentle and upbeat with a great, tuned-in to the patient bedside manner, and he went fully above and beyond, just by being his natural self, with pre care. From initial introduction by both nurses and himself, and right up to the very second I went under, his grounding, reassuring and extremely kind persona, resulted (for the first time in my life) in non full-on, last minute surgery room procedure panic. I went under easily and stress free, and came out equally easily. He is a terrific example of good human interaction, and top surgical care. Thank you to my anesthesiologist Dr.Michael James who checked in on me, and gave me just exactly the right amount of anesthesia to keep me under and still avoid all nauseousness post surgery - very much appreciated! *This all round, truly positive experience at Desert Ridge Outpatient, contrasted rather starkly with North Valley Surgery Center, where my husband had his own, similar procedures, just a couple of months before. I cannot speak to the atmosphere in the recovery room, as I was not there, however, overall, the staff there were cold and unwelcoming at the front desk, the waiting room felt like a train station, and the medical staff milling around outside exhuded a cold, clinical feeling after, appearing harried and visibly wound tight. My husband woke up towards end of his procedure, and although he's pragmatic and easy going, he really didn't care for the place. To be fair, this is understood, and to be expected at times, however, given the option... I'd very comfortably choose to return to Desert Ridge Outpatient Surgery Center environment as needed, and have highly commended them to others, including my primary physician. read more

I recently had surgery at the centre from a car accident. I was told it would be a positive experience and I would be looked after. Prior to my surgery I had to sign standard medical forms but then !!! I was charged $400 on the spot and had to pay it outright! I was never told this and was not prepared for this. It was unprofessional and really annoyed me. The nurses came into where I was prior to going into surgery and were extremely rude and didn't put the IV in properly. They treated me like I wasn't even there. Extremely unprofessional behavior on all parts. Be careful when you go there, they will charge you and treat you like crap. Pathetic treatment and experience especially for someone who is looking to live in Arizona. Really annoyed. read more

I was super nervous as this was my first surgery. They called me a week before to confirm I have gotten my covid test and answered some questions. And they called me a few days before to set up my payment plan and they called my the day before again to answer all of my questions. Very on top of everything. When I got there I immediately was greeted outside and signed some paperwork. I got taken inside and they let me use the bathroom before I sat down and completed the rest of my paperwork. Then I waited for maybe 20 mins in the lobby and the nurse took me to pre op. She was super nice, answered more of my first time questions, distracted me with other conversations and was able to get my IV in the first time! Thank you Karina! Deanna and Colleen took me to the OR room and both were so friendly as well. Laura from recovery helped wake me up nicely and brought me a popsicle and helped me get dressed and made sure I was okay. I took my mom to Desert Ridge outpatient four a bone marrow biopsy today. They were so good to her! She was cold and they got her heated blankets. They had a system that notified me every step of the way what was happening through my phone which I loved! The nurse Patty was very helpful as was each and every person there. They're quick to collect the service fee, but trying to get a refund for a credit balance they owe have been long and ridiculous. Two months and still going! Apparently there's only one individual in the Billings department and I can only imagine the work load but I would appreciate some accountability, such as follow up when you say you would. read more

Had my 2nd ankle surgery here and I can easily say that they took really great care of me and was very thorough throughout the entire process. The nurses were great, the doctor was funny and the anesthesiologist answered all of my questions I had before being sedated. Not recommended: I would not recommend this place to anyone. It felt like a meat market and you were the meat. It's a money making machine. They tell you to come in an hour before your procedure, even though it takes you 2 minutes to change and believe me, 2 minutes for them to collect your money. This does not work if you're in pain. Then you learn the doctor is not even there yet. Then you're pushed out the door for the next person. Never go there, pick another place. read more

Everyone was wonderful. Pre op they follow up with you and set the right expectations. On the day of the surgery they were prompt and organized. They are all friendly and the nurses are amazing. Of course my Dr is amazing hands down. Their equipment are nice and the place is sparkling clean unlike in some hospitals. After the surgery they take care of you. The entire time they keep you posted about everything. I know they have to but they do it a special way showing they care. Post op. They call and check on how you are doing. This review is mainly for the billing department. Prior to my surgery I met with the billing department to take care of payment. During this process they go over the break down cost. I was never informed that I would be receive a separate bill from the anesthesiology Department. After we met, it was my understanding that I was all good as far as billing. The anesthesiology Department, claims to have sent me a bill which I never received and now months later, it seems to have reached a collection agency. When I spoke with the billing manager Hope today at Desert Ridge out patient, center, her response with little compassion, was "our staff is instructed to inform all patients of the cost breakdown and that she has listened to them before and knows they do this" . Also, that the anesthesiology Department is a separate agency and has nothing to do with us. Rather than an apology for whatever could have gone wrong ,indirectly, the message that I received from Hope today was no different to, "oh well, there is nothing I can do for you because we did nothing wrong!". The surgery was bill was very costly and my deductible was something that I felt was a priority to take care of. It's unfortunate that I was NOT treated as a priority today. read more
