My friend and me tried the float tank for the first time. The instruction was clear and watching the video beforehand me helped understand what we were to do in once in the float tank....which is nothing, but relax and release. The float tank soothed stress in my neck where I have a little degeneration and helped from all my long distance running. Forced me to unwind and relax while floating in salt water. Highly recommend this for those who need to take time to slow down and decompress. Or anybody wanting a quiet hour of reflection time. I was curious about trying a float tank for a long time and was excited to discover this place. I was a little hesitant at first, as this was a brand new experience for me so I stopped by to check it out before booking a session. The owners and staff were immensely friendly and welcoming and I was given a full tour. I was immediately impressed by the newness, cleanliness and overall super-relaxed vibe of the entire facility. The atmosphere is as mellow and comforting as any higher end spa. While the concept of floating may be unusual, anyone who has treated themselves to a therapeutic massage elsewhere would not find the setting at all unfamiliar. They do, in fact offer massages as well, but of course I was there for the float. I was so impressed that I enthusiastically returned for my first session, bringing my wife along with me. It was her first time, as well. We booked two different tanks in two separate rooms, although they do offer a float room that's like a big walk-in shower that can accommodate more than one person at a time. The tanks are gorgeous, glowing space-pods. Smooth and pristine white, curvy and futuristic. The water is warm and inviting. Each private room is equipped with its own open shower stall, complete with glimmering LED shower heads. The rooms are dim and quiet and as I rinsed off I was immediately at ease and eager to float. More softly glowing LEDs are found in the tank, which eventually dim. There is relaxing, ambient music playing inside the tank which gradually fades as well. Stepping into the super-salinated water is a novel experience in and of itself. I've never been to the Dead Sea, but I can now see how it attracts thousands of visitors. Laying back onto the water and feeling it support so much of your weight is an odd and amazing sensation. You feel your body stretch and tensions release. And then...nothingness. Almost. The lights are out, the music is off, the water and air match your body temperature, you feel weightless. There's only the sound of your breathing and you. Now, I'm an anxious person by nature and definitely claustrophobic in certain situations. But in the tank I felt safe and comfortable. It did take me a few minutes to adjust to my new surroundings, or what appeared to be the lack thereof. But considering how strange it is to give your brain so little input, that's to be expected. I knew I could end the experience at any time by simply exiting the tank. But I didn't want to! An hour-long session seemed a little daunting for the first few minutes but once I allowed myself to surrender to the experience, it was awesome! What a cool sensation to feel no sense of walls or borders. My surroundings felt limitless and my body and mind, expansive. There's certainly a nice "floating in space" thing that happens in there. Very cool and very relaxing. With no sensory input, I thought I would be left to dwell on the stresses and anxieties of life. But fortunately, it felt like a much-needed break from all of that. This is the perfect setting to fast-track you to meditative state. Even in one session, it's apparent that the possibilities are endless. It's just you and your mind. Your thoughts, your feelings, your imagination, your sense of self...all more readily accessible with complete freedom from distraction. Floating is a deceptively simple process, yet amazingly empowering and completely addicting. We are so excited to go back. HIGHLY recommended. read more

I really did not know what to expect since I am not a fan of not having my feet on the ground! But this was amazing! Upon check in, they give you a five-minute video to watch so I felt a little better. I was shown to a private room with a shower in the corner. It took me a while to stop bumping into the walls of the "pod," but once I settled in and managed to relax, the experience was great. Sleeping or not, I was definitely out of it! An hour went by too fast! I got to relax and come back to my senses in the "post-float" room where there was water and hot tea. I also had an hour of Swedish massage after the float which added to this relaxing and re-energizing experience. I will absolutely "float" again! read more

My fiancee and I came to Palm Desert to relax this past weekend. What better way to relax than getting a couples message? Desert Serenity was easy to book online, and sent an email confirmation with price and instructions. They sent another confirmation the day prior to our appointment as well. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. The facility is very clean and we felt comfortable the whole tome. We got the couples massage for an hour and appreciated them asking us if we had any spots that needed more attention or we wanted to them to avoid. We also appreciated them asking if we preferred male or female masseuses. Overall, the messages hit the spot and were very satisfied. I had SUCH a great experience at Desert Serenity Float! I floated (alone) in the "couples room" which is big enough for two. The water temperature was great, nearly indiscernible. The room was absolutely silent and pitch black, the music they play for 5 minutes was spot on. The shower afterwards was nice and hot. Omg! A friend recommended this place and I end up booking a couple floating session at their floating cabin for my husband and myself, It was amazing!!! The place is inviting and it is all about luxury. Their floor is made of porcelain and it is so shiny. They have a relaxation room where you can drink tea and just relax. Ahhh!!! They also have a vanity room too! The best part was the floating session. The room we got the floating cabin was big and had it own shower. The shower head was awesome had lights on it. Towels were provided,shampoo, body shower gel, and conditioner. Floating was soooo relaxing, I felt asleep. My skin after The floating was Feeling so smooth.The staff was great over the phone and person too!!!We were on a mini vacation in the area and this place just added the cherry on top, Husband and I will never forget this experience!!! You cannot beat the surroundings; peaceful, clean, with an accommodating staff that wants nothing but the best experience for you. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed; there are showers in the rooms with lovely soaps, shampoo & conditioner. Ample privacy and towels etc. My reason for not giving it 5 stars, is all personal, salty water baths in darkness are not for me. I'm more of a sunshine and surf kinda gal and an hour in darkness being careful of getting the salty water in my eyes or drowning if I fell asleep doesn't calm me down. Plus those pods are so big that small little me just floundered in all the salt water and when up became sideways, wasn't exactly sure which was the best way to orient to the fresh towel put on a small shelf for eye safety because that salty stuff does manage to get into the eyes once or twice during the experience. Perhaps with further use I could get better at it, but there is only one get acquainted discount treatment, so that isn't going to be possible. If you'd like to try it, remember to mention the First Time Float deal, it's a good one! read more

First time float and first time massage here. The floating experience was interesting, but I didn't have any amazing life insights unfortunately haha. What I love about this place is the moment you walk in it whispers "tranquility" to you in it's surroundings, decor, lighting, and deadening of sound and light (even in the lobby). When I was in the tank (I used the large one) I didn't feel claustrophobic or grossed out. The facility seems very kept up and clean. The massage therapist (whose name I forgot ) was wonderful. Well worth the trip and money! Celebrated my husband birthday this past weekend in Palm springs and booked this experience. I paid for a couples float. Zack was awesome and accommodating. The float experience was pretty awesome. As soon as your body toured the salt water you got instantly. Be sure to wear ear plugs (which were provided). You can come your eyes, rest, and float. Overall the experience was great, the location seemed far for a non local like myself but worth the travel. The shower indoors the glider room was clean and supplied shampoo and body wash for before and after the float experience. Definitely will visit again. read more

Me and my partner recently had an hour of floating and then a massage.I've never felt more relaxed, the whole experience was perfect! After being greeted by the friendly staff and touring the spotless facilities we opted for a float in the couples tank. You have a private room to shower and then float for about an hour... it is so easy and effortless and therefore totally relaxing. The waters salinity rate is so high it is impossible not to float... not like a regular pool at all.(& the float tank is only about 2' deep) After floating for about an hour we relaxed even more in the meditation room, had tea,and then it was time for the massage that lasted about an hour.Angelia and Shannon were true professionals! They exerted just the right pressure, and in just the right spots. Quite possibly the best massage I've ever had! Total tab for two people for everything (with the tip) was $300. I am from Germany and these tanks are very popular in Germany and throughout Europe. So my 2 cousins and I made appointments to check out the float tanks. OMG - all of us were surprised and it was a totally relaxing experience. The facility was very clean and all rooms had their individual showers. This makes it nice because your floating experience is so much more enjoyable when you don't have to run down a hallway to make it to your tank. They have a tank for 2 people, it is large and comfortable and has no lid.....which I favor. You hear music for the first 10 minutes and the light are very low....and we left the lights on the whole time. My other cousin favored the traditional tank. All 3 of us enjoyed our experience and we loved the way it made our skin feel, so soft. This place is on the "Must Do List" when in the Desert.
