Went to deSha's at 5 on a Wednesday night. No wait at all and we got to choose our dining location: dining room vs bar room. We chose the dining room and it was huge with a pretty view of the pond and fountain. It is $5 burger week in Cincinnati so my boyfriend and I both ordered the Garret which is a burger with onion marmalade, herb goat cheese, and arugula served on a toasted brioche bun. This is definitely one of the top burgers I have had in Cincinnati. My boyfriend loved the herb goat cheese so much that he was eating it off of everything he could find. He got Saratoga chips with his burger while I got an order of fries. The fries are nothing spectacular, I would honestly just not get them at all. 4 stars because their fries saddened me but other than that everything was amazing. Great burger. Great service. In the past two weeks I have eaten at deSha's twice. Both times the experience was fantastic. Our waiters (Curtis and Gabrielle) were attentive, friendly, and kind. The food was delicious, too! The food at deSha's is average tavern fare, not bad but nothing I'd be excited to order again. My ribs were tender but not that flavorful and the accompanying potatoes were overly salty; my wife's Maker's mac & cheese was fine but not great. The beer selection is respectable but has fewer craft and local options than many similar restaurants in the area; my beer was also served warmer than I'd prefer. They seemed to be understaffed and service was a bit slow, not an uncommon challenge for restaurants these days. Well, I was talked into meeting a colleague here for dinner. I saw they had a haddock fish and chip dinner on their menu and was of course intrigued. After starting out with the buffalo shrimp appetizer and a house salad, my fish and chips arrived. Unfortunately, the fish and chips we just so so. The batter was a hard and flat tasting - almost like they may have been pre-made and frozen until ordered and readied for the dunk in the deep fryer. I've had much better and fresher tasting fish and chips at the local VFWs on a Friday night during lent. I really wanted to give this place more of a 2 star rating but our server was excellent. If I did happen to return to this place one more time, I would probably stick with something simple like the burger. I really wanted to like this place but the food was really just so so... Even my colleague's piece of grilled salmon that came with the smoky/spicy barbecue sauce looked like it was just barbecue sauce with maybe some Cayanne pepper or something else mysteriously added to it. He scraped the sauce off the salmon and muscled his way through finishing it. I'm sure the owners and others at this establishment put their heart and soul into it...and I hate leaving review like this, but if I were them I would seriously sit down and take a strong honest look at their menu and the way certain foods are prepared. I went on date here, and I really like how the dining room we were in is set up. There is a big window opening out to the pond; each row of tables is set on a ever higher level so that no matter where you are, you can turn your head and look out that big window. We got to see ducks munching away on some scraps kids were tossing to them. The food was a bit on the pricier side, but very tasty. The corn bread and brown sugar butter they have was decadent. I then ordered their buttermilk chicken dish. Met a friend here for drinks after work today. The weather was gorgeous for sitting on the patio. This place has one of the best outdoor spaces in the area. The deck overlooks a pond full of ducks, geese & includes a pretty fountain & lots of greenery. Today's fare came from the Happy Hour menu, good till 7:00pm :) We chose the nachos & some bacon, spinach & cheese flatbread. Drinks included some very good sangria, a glass of Chardonnay & a mojito. The only thing that was not great was the mojito. It was pretty much just sugar-water so I switched to wine (a bartender can't mess up wine!) Lol. The space is great with the outdoor seating, large bar area, and ample restaurant seating with small private rooms. These days, I usually go for happy hour in the bar or on the outdoor patio. Both are lovely, especially the patio on a nice day. You can sit at the pond, watch the ducks, and pretend for a moment you're not in the middle of the burbs. Appetizer specials during happy hour are decent. Chopped salads are my go-to for dinner. Overall, I liked the space - kind of a large country cabin feel. Between the four of us, we had Stuffed Banana Peppers, Fish & Chips, Mushroom & Goat Cheese Flatbread, and Smoked Gouda & Chicken Rotini. This is a very classy place to take someone to dinner. Although it is a very casual place for people to come together it does have a fancy feel to it. It has two bars and a lot of seating with live music. Some of the seating is overlooking a pond which is pretty relaxing. The beer selection is good with rotating seasonal taps so you're never getting the same thing. They also have a variety of house cocktails to choose from. The menu is a variety of food from something simple as wings to more elegant like Salmon. Everything I've tried is delicious. The pricing is also fair. I highly recommend this place for anyone just wanting a casual evening out with friends or a date with a loved one. Service was also great. We are foodies! We decided to have our business dinner over drinks and chose reservations at deSha's. Our experience was not pleasant at all. There were flies and gnats flying around us and drove us crazy. Almost as soon as we received the food, they eventually landed on it. We notified the waitress and brought a new plate but in a to go container. Finally we asked the server if we could relocate to a different part of the restaurant because we wanted dessert. The waitress said we could but we would have to cash out from her to another server. No biggie. We were aggravated at this point. She brought the check and we noticed we were charged for both meals. We asked for the manager. Her comments was "We paid for one meal, we are not gonna pay for two. I will take it all back and pay for nothing" Then she had the nerve to say we can not control the flying insects inside their restaurant. First, she wasn't paying for anything we were. Second, Im positive the health department will disagree with the flying insects inside their restaurant. The kicker is when we tried to move outside to have dessert our current waitress told us we could head outside she would let them know we were coming. The new waiter walks up to us to say "go ahead and see if you can find a clean table, seat yourself. For the location and the pricing of their menu we should never have to deal with insects, bad service or uncleaned tables. Our experience was just altogether BAD. read more

I visited deSha's for the first time today after attending the nearby Bastille Day events in Montgomery. It was in a big beautiful building and had a great atmosphere with some live music. The place was really packed so if you visit it's probably a good idea to make reservations beforehand. The staff was great! We started with a few appetizers to try things out. The spinach dip was fantastic (and I'm typically not a fan!) The spring rolls with andouille sausage and chicken were also a really interesting fusion dish that came with a sweet sauce that complimented it perfectly. They also serve complimentary corn bread which was extremely tasty and not something I typically see. For our main courses we had the recommended fish and chips and (since they ran out of the recommended prime rib) I chose the jambalaya. The fish and chips my date had were fantastic (I had to try a little myself!), but the jambalaya was... not so great. It didn't have a good texture and seemed like it may have been prepared before hand, refrigerated, and then reheated? Something was definitely off with it. It's a favorite dish of mine overall so I've had quite a few takes on it. I really only picked at my meal and left hungry. The crowd seemed mainly composed of older and retirement age folks (not that there is anything wrong with that!), but I personally felt like we were a little out of place. read more
