I came to deSha's with a group of friends for brunch on a Sunday morning around 10:45 and we were the only customers (it opens at 10:00am Sundays). We ate at the outdoor patio space, which overlooks a pond area and we enjoyed the atmosphere. At one point, the wind picked up and caught under the umbrella of a table beside us, blowing it over sideways. The servers were very attentive and courteous. I ordered the French Toast Casserole and while I was impressed with the size of the portion, I wasn't too impressed with the flavor. It was a little soggy and tasted like it was soaked in syrup throughout. The rest of my friends ordered Country Breakfast Bowls and it looked like more of the same - hearty, heavy comfort food without much unique flavor. Dear Yelp, please undo reviews from people whose only complaint are based on their made up allergies or claim they require gluten free or vegan options. Love, love, love deSha's. They have come a long way from a couple of years ago. I used to not be a big fan- but things have changed a lot for the better (mainly in the way of food) and I now love coming here. They have a small bar off the entry way called the Polo Bar if you want a more intimate bar experience, there is a big bar in the back if you want to watch the game or socialize a bit, many different dining rooms and a patio for the spring/summer- something for everyone! The food is really great. Have not ordered anything in the past 1.5 years that I haven't really enjoyed. Menu is varied and has something for everyone- my go-to fave is the quesadilla (any of them are great), but really love the shrimp and grits or the prime rib sandwich if I'm there for dinner. Also a solid draft beer selection- rotating taps with seasonal craft brews. Service is way above par at deSha's. Whether you are at the bar or seated in a dining area, you will have a great service experience. Have had many different servers and have never been disappointed. I also hosted my company Christmas party here this year, and everything went very smoothly. Tina coordinated the event with me and Jamie was our server, everyone had a great time and I got a lot of good feedback on the event! Awful. The WORST restaurant in the burgeoning Tavern Restaurant Group empire (the Pub, Nicholson's, Polo Grille), they somehow found a reason to make more than one of these (Lexington and Maysville om the 'tucky side). We ate here on the way home for Costco one evening and it was like we had been transported into the Twilight Zone of bad food and service. Our waiter appeared a bit stoned as he struggled to keep up with the four tables he had and somehow managed to drag us into the weeds as well. What should have been a short stop on the way home, turned into a 2 1/2 hour affair that left us feeling like they should have paid us for our meal. My head hurts thinking about our experience. The saving grace is the nice outdoor deck, but even that wasn't enough to pull this place outta the ditch. I've driven by this place for years and never bother to stop in, but one day my boss stops by my office and says let's go to lunch. He said I hope you don't mind, but I want to go to my favorite restaurant. Next thing I know we are in deSha's. deSha's has a beautiful wooden entry way. You are greeted by a hostess who will have you seated. You have the bar area or the dining room which overlooks a pond with a water feature. The decor is pretty nice, gives you a feeling of being in a tavern. The food was actually pretty good. At first glance, this would not be a restaurant I would go to normally, but the menu is very surprising. The fried green tomatoes, crab stuffed mushrooms, flash fried calamari and Maryland crab cakes are awesome. I'm not a salad person, but the buffalo chicken salad is awesome. When we go to lunch it is my first choice always. But if you go for dinner, please try the steak deSha. It is pretty yummy! read more

I really like DeSha's. This is a great location as it is close to work and we visit here often for business luncheons. I would describe the menu as American pub food with comfort flare! They have everything from great salads to steak to fish to grilled cheese and tomato bisque (which is awesome by the way). The restaurant is spread out so you can sit in the open bar area, the main restaurant or outside when the weather allows. Even in the dining room you can request a table by the small pond and watch the ducks. The service here is wonderful and they take great care of you. They will make recommendations and you can always customize your order anyway you like without any problems. We have always got great service here and our food has always been wonderful. Okay this is a review specifically for Desha's Thanksgiving Buffet. We decided that it was high time to break the tethers of someone else's idea of family tradition and create our own traditions. So this year we ditched the silly fake family dysFUNction and all the mediochre food and took the kids with us to eat out. For $30 per adult, the Thanksgiving buffet at DeSha's is really hard to beat. Prime rib - awesome Salmon - fantastic There were tons of sides... I hit the cornbread stuffing, which was excellent, and the garden veggie medley. Bottomless chilled shrimp cocktail and chilled thinly shaved smoked salmon. Lots of salad stuff. They had some other stuff... of course traditional turkey and gravy, ham, and some fried fish. Mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, spinach artichoke au gratin... man the list goes on and on... They broke out the table cloths and fine china as well. The place was as packed as I've ever seen it. Not an empty table in the house, and the staff was really moving. But it was really great. Even though we had 2:15 reservations (which I HIGHLY SUGGEST making if you decide to do this next year), we still sat in the bar area... which was fine with me. Jamming to some White Stripes on the radio (they still had the normal bar background tunes spinning). Just the wife, the babies, and myself... After being told deSha's was known for their 'Kentucky Hot Brown,' three out of our party of nine ordered this dish. Unfortunately for us, while deSha's might be known for their 'Kentucky Hot Brown' they most certainly don't know how to make one at this location. Additionally, when I requested steak fries with my hot brown, the waitress informed me only traditional French fries (not my favorite style) were available. So, I ordered a baked potato with... Before I could finish, the waitress said: "We don't serve baked potatoes here." So, I settled for a house salad. This last part I found out after-the-fact: This deSha's serves the same portion size 'Kentucky Hot Brown' at lunch as they do for a dinner entre; with no sides included. Suggestions: 1. As a dinner entre, increase the portion to at least fill the plate it's served on. 2. Lose the overly salty bacon bits and replace them with two strips of real bacon. 3. For the price ($13.50) serve this dish with one side as a part of the meal. Even if the side is just a small serving of French fries, it would be an improvement. By the way, all three diners who ordered the 'Kentucky Hot Brown' at this table were not satisfied with the dish. However, as we were never asked, we did not offer our opinions on the short comings of our dinner. On a positive note, the other six in our party of nine enjoyed their dinners. So, with a score of 66.666%, deSha's earned a "Gentlemen's D" final grade for this evening. read more

I've driven by this a million times and never bothered to stop in until one night I got hungry and "rediscovered" it looking stuff up on the internet. I've been to almost every other restaurant that this group owns, so we decided to drive up here and eat. It has a kind of confusing feel to me. On entering, it felt kind of fancier, with it's large entry way. But then it felt like an older crowd's bar with it's live music and large bar. It wasn't truly my cup of tea, but I still liked it. It's a pretty interior with some of the same decor/tables from their other restaurants. One thing I was kind of disappointed with was that they serve a can of strongbox for 6.50. It's expensive, especially for not on draft, and all the other restaurants in the tavern they have it on tap. I dunno, it's a bit sad. The food, though, was excellent. We both ordered the french onion soup, a very good one too, not the best in town, but I would come back for it for sure. I really, really enjoyed it! And the "cowboy quesadilla", a quesadilla with bbq pulled pork, white cheddar, and caramelized onions, was a delicious dish. I'm a fan of deSha's for numerous reasons: excellent ambiance overall; extensive variety of excellent draft beers in the bar; very good food with a wide-ranging menu; happy hour special pricing; very good to excellent service. Lastly, an exceedingly comfortable main dining room with overtones of a wooded great lodge make this place special. Somehow they've managed to keep a certain lightness to the whole affair that makes it semi-chic; unusual to pull off with so much paneling and dark wood floors. Well done. Now that I think about it, I like deSha's for all the above, boiled down to this: deSha's is a major cut above average in every single category. I knew there would be plenty of lower Yelp ratings, as I've been an on-and-off patron of the restaurant for 10 years, and have noticed through time that DeSha's gets more than its fair share of sniping. It's unwarranted, as their food and service and ambiance are way better than average. It's not perfect but it's better than 95% of the restaurants in the local Cincinnati marketplace. Food: Prime rib is excellent, Hot Brown, chicken dishes, burgers, soups, appetizers (many to choose from), all tasty items and all priced what you'd expect from an above-average restaurant in Symmes Twp./Loveland that seeks to elevate itself. I've found their dishes to be well-conceived; many are creative, and the presentation is generally outstanding (and they don't skimp on their food). Layout: The main Dining Room is fairly elegant with lots of wood and cozy booths, low lighting; very comfortable design and seating layout. The bar dining area is not quite so elegant but highly functional, large, and comfortable, (much nicer than your average bar area). Note that the main bar area has live music on the weekends, also has numerous TV's. There are numerous good wines, 15 (approx.) drafts, plus many bourbons and scotches. Again, very comfortable bar seating, nice ambiance. One note: I really miss not being able to sit in the Muirfield Pub anymore, a sweet little sidebar seating about 25 off to the left side of the restaurant, replete with its own fireplace. (They open it for special rentals only nowadays). Bottom line: Come here looking for very good food with a wide-ranging menu; good to excellent service; great beverage/beer selection. Don't look for perfection. If you keep that in mind you'll come away pleased. Note: Large outside deck overlooking small pond open 3 seasons. read more

The food was delicious and the presentation was very nice. Staff was friendly and very efficient and helpful. It was nice to have both the Polo bar and the patio for all to enjoy the event. Our office holiday party was at deSha's this year. We had a private room for our employees and their significant others. We are a small group so it wasn't a huge room. The service was fantastic, and serving a group that size (15) can be taxing, but they made it look like a breeze, and it was a busy night at deSha's. The decor is gorgeous. My husband commented on the exposed beams and how cool it was to see that. He is a carpenter, so he really appreciated the aesthetic, as did I. It is much more upscale then I had assumed prior to my first visit. I don't know in that we could go often on our own due to the prices. My choice for dinner was the Kentucky Hot Brown. It was my first Kentucky Hot Brown, and I do not have the original at the Brown Hotel in Louisville to compare it to, but it was delicious. My husband got a burger which he said was great as well. As far as I heard everyone enjoyed their meal, and said everything was very nice. I would recommend deSha's for a company dinner, taking out a client, romantic occasion, or to celebrate an event. It is definitely not your everyday type of restaurant, but perfect for a special occasion. The food was awesome, and service was outstanding - that is why deSha's gets 5 stars from me. read more

This is a very nice restaurant in a nice neighborhood. The interior build out is upscale and inviting. The menu you was simple and straight forward. The food was pretty good and frankly the waitress was excellent. She was attentive and appropriately interactive and engaging. I had a very nice time with the business associates I met with which was aided by the relaxing environment provided. This place is worth of a try. I haven't eaten at deSha's since high school prom... and I'm not admitting how long ago that was. But when I saw a recent LivingSocial deal for it, I knew it was time to go back. The food was terrific. You start off with a plate of warm cornbread, included (bonus!). I had the special of the day which included pulled barbecue pork (a unique sweet barbecue sauce, verging on too sweet for my taste actually), homestyle garlic mashed potatoes, and 2 prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloins which were amazing and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is great, an old style lodge/tavern feel. And the view over the pond outside is an added treat, even in the winter. I was also pleased with the variety. We enjoyed Mother's Day 2015 at deSha's. The interior is a bit dated but quite cozy and laid back. We absolutely loved the view of the lake and ducks swimming around. The food was nicely portioned and filled with flavor. We were a party of 6 and tried everything from the prime rib, to jambalaya, to salmon including salads and soups and were not disappointed with any of the selections. The prime rib taste like chipped beef on toast .. with still red peppers even after they got me a new sandwich and supposedly took them out.. the food is very substandard... I went to DeSha's last Friday for dinner and to listen to music. The food was very good. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and Maker's Mark barbecue sauce. My friend had the French onion soup and chicken salad croissant. The down side was the NOISE. Every now and then we would hear a bit of music. The choice of acoustic music on a Friday night was not a good one. We left as soon as we finished eating we left - my friend had developed a migraine. I hestitate writing this review as the manager and server attempted to rectify the situation. However, the food was awful. The appetizer was disappointing but edible. My two salads, dry overcooked steak and two sides were completely inedible. (She brought a second salad when I was unable to eat the first one. The second one was worse. ) The corn bread was delicious though. The server wasn't rude but seemed uninterested in our experience right from the start. Throughout our meal she failed to check in on us and we had to flag her down to complain. At that time she apologized. The manager came over to apologize. They both offered to bring me something else but by then my friend had finished eating and I didn't have much faith that anything they had to offer was going to be good. Cozy comfort food. I am not often in the mood for that type of cuisine but this place satisfies when it comes up. The Fried Green Tomatoes were quite good. The Meatloaf Stack was surprisingly a hit. The sauce and fried onions really made it. The short rib Mac and cheese was a little much for me but a couple bites were good. I hosted a bridal party at deSha's back in August. I was a little nervous, because I had never been to this restaurant before scheduling the event, but I wanted a private party spot with the option of outdoor dining. DeSha's ended up being the perfect spot! We rented the polo bar/patio area, which was very nice. There was ample time offered for decorating and cleaning up. I thought the pricing for a private event was very reasonable. All of the pricing information for private events is readily available on their website, which is super helpful and not very common! I liked being able to offer guests a limited menu. The food options and the drinks were great. The best thing about deSha's was the customer service! Tina, the event manager, was very helpful and responsive. The server who was assigned to our group was extremely friendly and accommodating. Many of the guests commented on the friendly service and good food! I would absolutely throw another event at deSha's. read more

Went her from my Grandmothers birthday. The one good part was the service was very good. Also, the bill for our large group was much lower than expected. Down sides: When making the reservations we asked if it would be quite as it is my grandmother's birthday. They assured us they would put us in a quite area of the restaurant. For about 20 minutes it was just slightly louder than normal then the band started playing in the other room. Most bars I have been to don't play music this loud. My grandmother could not enjoy conversation with anyone at all which was the point of the whole dinner. It was one of those restaurants where being veg means eating side salads and fries.This is probably one of the reasons our bill was so low. French onion soup as well as the tomato bisque tasted like it came out of a can, and wasn't even hot when it arrived. I was very impressed when we arrived. The inside of the establishment is absolutely gorgeous, and the service staff was as good as it gets. Of course (as hoped) they had a large selection of local craft beers, so we ordered drinks and the Goetta Fries ($7.95). They were so absolutely incredble that I still often think about them and crave them. I would go again just to even smell the fries, that's how good they were. I ended up getting the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and it came with gravy, green beans and gouda macaroni and cheese. So delicious!
