I am so glad I started this new year right at Shagan's. Ambiance: They have few tables inside this restaurant and I also see this could be a popular pickup option for people. Menu: Staffs are incredibly kind here & you can take all your time in ordering your food because the menu offers a lot of good combo options. They have chaat, appetizers, entree & combo options (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian) My personal favorite is 2 entree combo which comes with jeera rice & bread. Bread can be a plain roti or paratha or naan or garlic/butter naan. You can also request Stuffed parathas for an up charge. What we ordered: - Vada Pav - 2 entree combo plate (Moong dal & Butter paneer) - Mango Lassi Both Moong dal & Butter paneer was served hot - perfect for a cozy/cold night. Spice & masala level was just perfect and I personally don't prefer too much overdose of color or masala in my butter paneer which messes up my gut. Vada pav was great too with a good amount of green sauce/paste (spicy & tangy) Just the perfect way to end the dinner with freshly made mango lassi. :)) Hopefully, will get back again to check out non-vegetarian entree options.

The server was nice, attentive, and quick. I saw there's some variations of Lassi. They had Mango Lassi, Salted Lassi, and Sweet Lassi. Salted Lassi tasted almost like ranch dressing and it wasn't that good to me. I like the Sweet Lassi, it's just a yogurt drink but way better to drink cold. Tried a few items that I like: Raj Kathi Roll Bite, Crispy Paneer Fingers, Honey Cauliflower, Chili Paneer, Prawn Pepper Fry. It was all delish and fulfilling. Pretty good.

We tried... - the happy hour menu (4pm-7pm) onion pakora and ragada pattice [each $3.99] - from the curry menu Malai Kofta(A delicious dish of fried balls of potato and paneer in a rich and creamy (choose from spicy level) gravy made with sweet onions and tomatoes). ) and lamb korma (lamb stew meat is cooked in a creamy coconut sauce, seasoned with toasted Indian spices and cooked to a melt-in-the-mouth perfection( you can choose your spicy level).) Each of the entrees came with a container of rice which made it easy to take leftover homes or for takeout. - for dessert jalebi (made from all-purpose flour, gram flour, and sugar syrup. The batter is poured into spirals or concentric circles in hot oil, fried until crisp, and then immersed in sugar syrup.) We sat outside at the picnic tables since we had brought the dogs with us. While we were inside ordering and looking at the menu, we spoke to the staff who were quite friendly and helpful when we needed anything. The interior of the restaurant was busy with constant line of people who came to sit to eat or grab their takeout orders. If it didn't come across the food was melt in your mouth delicious.

They have a vast menu with tiffin options, entrees, Biriyani options & desserts. We ordered Podi idli, chicken kothu parotta & kumbakonam degree coffee for the table. It took about 10 minutes to get the food. About Chicken kothu parotta, I really liked the fact that parotta (bread) was made fresh, soft instead from a readymade bread like other restaurants in our metro. Spice level was perfect and I didn't feel any burn the next day. Only suggestion is to serve the food in a different plate instead of a paper plate. Paper plate didn't connect well with me. Hopefully, they can address that. Podi idli was served warm & we loved it. Ended the night with degree coffee. Just the right way you should end every South Indian meal.

Not sure if I'd go hot but that's a me thing. Even though we ate in, the food comes out in To Go containers and I'm okay with that. They gave paper plates and plastic forks. Again, I'm okay with that. Over all of eat there again. There is currently construction going on to the outside of several stores fronts so you do have to walk through a passage to get to any of them right now.
