    Aloo & Paneer Kathi Roll
    Ash B.

The Kathi roll was smaller than I would've liked but tasty nonetheless. The chutney was perfect. What was really good though was the desi poutine. It's very rich so definitely recommend sharing with at least one other person. Overall perfect fast casual place for lunch!

I stopped by this cute restaurant before catching a flight from JFK. It looks tiny from the outside, but there's lots of seating on the floor below. The interior was decorated very nicely for the Christmas season. I dined in and got their chai, which had a unique ingredient: fennel. I picked up two kathi rolls to-go: one paneer burji & one aloo/paneer. Relish them in my flight later! The green chutney was also very good. When I entered, I had a couple suitcases with me, but the servers were very nice and accommodated everything.

Absolutely loved this delicious Indian food and Kathi rolls, chaat, biryani and curries in this no frills joint! The food was authentic and tasty! We also tried the mango lassi, frooti and limca (my favorite). The service was quick and the staff was friendly and made some great recommendations. There was amazing soothing Bollywood music playing in the background! You can also purchase some great Indian snacks and spices here

We have been wanting to try this place for awhile. We finally made it! We went inside but the Indian music was a bit too loud and it was warm so we chose the outside/ street dining area. Utensils and napkins are on the table. There was literally 1 napkin and two forks. We had to ask for knives and more napkins. Tony ordered a glass of wine which had to get returned and for a second, we thought there was going to be an issue. It didn't even look like wine. He said it was warm and tasted like it was left out. When we asked our waitress about it she said he can change it for something else but he would still get charged. Long story short, it got resolved and they decided to take it off the bill but I can't believe we had to go through explaining it all. Now to the food. The samosas were ok. I've definitely had better. My Aloo Gosht was perfect. It has just the right kick and the flavor was amazing. It was also a great portion. Tony ordered the vegetable biryani not pictured. It didn't say it was spicy but it was a bit too spicy for him. After having to go through what we did for the return/ exchange of the wine, he didn't want to bother w/ his entree being too spicy. We decided to take it home and I would eat it another day. The vibe is meh but the food was good enough that we would try it via take out again.

Ordered the beyond kathi roll and it did not disappoint. I liked that it was spicy and had some veggies in it as well. The chutney they gave on the side was . The size of the roll itself was a little small given the price point. The place is pretty small but the service was quick. So no complaints! Overall I would definitely recommend this place

THE BEST chicken tikka! So incredibly creamy, flavorful, and the chicken is well-cooked and perfectly portioned. Don't miss the buttery and pillowy fresh naan or the Pani Puri either! Very welcoming and a great spot that I never miss when I visit the city.

It is the best Indian food I've had in the city by far. I live out of state now and every time I visit I make sure I eat here

So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

In short, amazing…read more Service was great, friendly, and very cognizant of allergies. - Ghee Whiz - smoked cocktail, really good, flavorful, smooth, unique - Paneer - on the one hand, $20+ for two pieces of paneer seems crazy but on the other hand that paneer was so melt-in-your-mouth texture maybe it's worth getting again, but probably not - Beef pepper fry - amazing, my favorite dish we got. Definitely a bit on the spicier side but incredible flavor, beef all cooked well, great presentation on the skillet, so worth it. - Makai Lamb - the lamb itself was incredible; imagine a giant lamb bone with meat falling off into a thin soup-like sauce. The sauce was delicate in flavor, allowing the lamb to really shine and it was delicious. So filling too, a ton of food. Only weird thing, the two chunks of corn cobs felt out of place. Will definitely return, delicious and best done with more people to try more dishes.

They've passed that torch to their sister restaurant, Adda. Not only has their menu changed, but so has the staff. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, but in this case, it was. We were recently served by someone who admitted himself that he's only been there for a week. No big deal. Except our first dish took 30 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile the folks to the left and right of us kept getting their food and they ordered after us. When we were done with our first and only dish, I asked our waiter where the rest of the food was, only to find out he didn't fire any of it because he was waiting for us to completely finish. The service was not good. And the food is not nearly as fun and delicious as it used to be. I don't know if I'll be coming back to Dhamaka anymore.
