The service was super enthusiastic and friendly! Restaurant is colorful and clean! Not too busy for a later lunch on the weekend The food was really good too. Loved the mango lassi, it had the perfect level of tartness and a hint of cardamom. Tried different breads and also a popped chickpea dish that was so flavorful and fun. The saag, butter chicken, and korma were all great too

We had a fantastic experience at Veeray da Dhaba. It was a Sunday night walk-in for the five of us, and we were lucky enough to be seated right away by Shivam. We got straight to ordering our food from their very reasonably priced menu, which included appetizers Achari Paneer ($10), Samosa Chaat ($9), and Achari Chicken Tikka ($10). Our mains included Goat Biryani ($20) and an extremely delicious Jackfruit Biryani ($17) - an absolute treat for Vegetarians or prior meat eaters who turned Vegetarians like me. The Dhaba Dal ($16) was delicious and was thoroughly enjoyed by our little one. Specific shoutout to Sanjeeda who was very friendly, accommodating and interacted with our little one and made it a pleasant experience for all of us. Also to our host Shivam for being kind enough to waive off our corkage fee!

Amazing home style cooked Indian-Desi food. My friend and I came here to get some dhaba style food and Veeray definitely did not disappoint. Our servers were excellent and catered to our every need. We started with their aloo tikki chaat which was so flavorful and filled with chutneys, chole, and all the toppings that make up the perfect chaat. For our main course we got the dhaba dal, bhindi, chili garlic naan, and a gobhi parantha. We asked for onions and chili on the side which added more flavor to our meal and was so good, it definitely gave Indian dhaba vibes. Can't wait to come back and try their other dishes!

Bhel Puri: super small portion.

Food is decent. Portions are super small, especially for appetizers. Service is good. They accept walk-ins but if you're a bigger group, I'd recommend to give you a call for sure.

Doesn't seem like much from the outside, but the food is excellent! Had the butter chicken, sag paneer, daal, and a bunch of appetizers. The butter chicken was so tender and creamy, definitely one of my favorites. Lots of vegetarian options for non-carnivores. Service was great, the staff are helpful with recommendations and quite friendly. Music is very loud though. And the air conditioning was blowing at us pretty hard.

Food was great and service was wonderful! Went here on a Friday night and it was comfortable sitting there for a long time chatting with friends and eating good food

Chicken Korma Butter Chicken Garlic Naan

came at around 6pm and was fairly empty until 7 when people really started filling in! waiters were super attentive and gave great recs. my friend got the butter chicken with chili garlic naan and I got the chicken korma with garlic naan. we split the rice which was more than enough for the both of us! this was the first time I've ever had korma and it was def different than tikka masala and butter curry. this was a lot more gravy like, and wasn't as tomato-tasting. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but wish there was more chicken in there! I only had like five pieces in there.

I have no idea why I had a review sitting here with a mere 4 stars; Veeray deserves every bit of the five full stars for just about every single order I've ever had. This place in on top of the list when it comes to talking about my favorites in this city. I order it monthly, it's a good deal, it's delicious, and delivered hot. I absolutely love them. Kind staff, good food, affordable Indian... can not got wrong! Onion cheese kulcha for the win. Everything is good, check my pix for some of what I've had, it's all been great.

The butter chicken.

A month later I'm back across the country and I cannot stop think about the butter chicken.

One of the better indian restaurants I've been to in the city. Started with the samosa chaat, decent flavors and textures were on point. Lamb seekh kebabs paired with the mint chutney was also refreshing. Personal favorite was the bhuna goat, the depth of the curry was unmatched compared to other curries I've had. Some of the goat pieces were a little tough though. Bhindi masala was ok, different but also unique. Naan was also done well here. Waiters were attentive and friendly, and nice vibes at a very reasonable price point.

Goat biryani. Too many bones. Order lamb/jackfruit instead.

Short review: Would recommend the kabobs the most of the appetizers (such as the chicken bukhni.) Ludhianvi Lamb Curry is a wonderful curry as a main while Shalgam Saag is one of my favorite interpretations of this dish in the city. Would recommend the Teekan Murg also for spice heads. For biryani, order the lamb or jackfruit. Goat has too many bones. I have been to this excellent Indian restaurant a few times bringing a group and having joined others. The food here is excellent overall. In general I would say that their most successful dishes are anything involving the Tandoor but there aren't many faults in their mains either. As per normal, they gave some papadum and the normal assortment of chutneys after we ordered. They have wine and the usual lassi along with a homemade ginger drink which is essentially a less sweetened version of Limca and it it's quite refreshing. The review below is based on my most recent experience where I essentially ordered for a group of five people with the only doubling of any dish being the chicken bukhni and it came out to around $35-$40 a person with some leftovers. For appetizers, we went with the achari chicken tikka, chicken bukhni, and bhel puri. I've also had their lamb kebab (excellent) and Amritsari Macchi (aka fried fish) which is also very good Achari Chicken Tikka- Tandoor grilled boneless chicken cubes marinated with pickling spices, served with cilantro & mint chutney ($10) This is an excellent moist chicken dish with my only complain being that maybe the pickling spices could be a bit stronger. While I would say that Gazab has a better version, this is pretty good as well. Chicken Bukhni- Tandoor grilled blackened chicken cubes marinated in mustard oil, dry red chilies, Indian green chilies & jalapeno peppers, served with homemade pineapple chutney. ($10) This is a more fiery tandoor dish as per the description with a much stronger char. The chicken is coated in spices and I prefer it over the achari version. The pineapple chutney they make works wonderfully cutting down the heavy spices. Would highly recommend. Bhel Puri- Crispy rice puffs tossed with chopped onion, tomatoes, mint and tamarind chutney, sprinkled with chickpea noodles. ($7) Alright cheap version. I think the chutneys could be a little bit stronger at least in comparison to other bhel puris I have had. Fine. For mains, I went with an assortment of dishes. I've also had their butter chicken which was fine and aloo gobi which was very good. Shalgam Saag- Mustard green & spinach cooked with turnips, flavored with ginger-garlic, onion & tomato. ($16) This is probably my favorite interpretation of saag in the city. The extra vegetables cooked in add a delicious extra flavor while the turnips work for texture. Would highly recommend. Ludhianvi Lamb Curry- Sonny's hometown favorite, boneless lamb cubes in a rich gravy flavored with ginger garlic, fenugreek leaves, bay leaf, and cinnamon sticks. ($20) This is apparently a tribute to Punjab and what a wonderful tribute this is. Very tender lamb in a rich delicious curry. This is my favorite of the meat mains. Teekhan Murg- Boneless chicken cubes cooked in Jamaican peppers & red pepper gravy. ($18) If you are in into chili, this is a very spicy dish (I presume said peppers are Scotch Bonnets or something similar.) Nice tender chicken and the spice helped elevate other dishes but I'm not sure if I would order this solely. Goat Biryani- Steamed basmati rice, layered with goat on the bone, flavored with saffron, rose water, plum seeds & fragrant spices. ($20.) This was probably the only just alright dish we had. The spices of the biryani were wonderful but there are way too many bones. Would instead recommend the lamb (which is boneless) or jackfruit as you're getting the same wonderful spices but you're actually able to eat everything. For breads, we got the Aloo Paratha, Chili Garlic Naan, and Spinach and Cheese Amritsari Kulcha. All three of the breads are delicious with my favorite being the kulcha due to the filling. The paratha could use more potato while the chili garlic naan was excellent. All three were good and they all arrived with four pieces. We also ordered a side of rice which was $4 what is the expected price for the area. The food here has been delicious every time I've been here. While I potentially would not recommend the goat biryani just because there were too many bones, the rest of the food has been amazing with special notes going to the dishes I listed in the mini review. Staff is nice as well. Will go back again (and again.)

As someone natively from South India, I was genuinely thrilled to find a South Indian restaurant on…read morethe west side of Manhattan -- these spots are almost exclusively concentrated around Murray Hill and the east side. So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

The interior might not be up to HGTV standards but we can't all be the property brothers. Some of us need to just go with the flow and that's exactly what the owners did here. The furniture is cute, inoffensive, and nothing special. The service? Immaculate. Mostly because they gave our table a free mango lassi. That's how FREAKING kind and friendly the staff are!! They are tremendous. Best place ever.

After an hour of waiting for our food, the three tables around us who arrived after us already got their food and were nearly done with their meal. We ask about this twice, and each time the owner says all three tables "pre-ordered" their food. I was confused and asked every table if this was true and obviously it was not. Before leaving, we confront the owner about the inconsistencies in his story, but he just double downs on his lie, alleging that we don't understand how a restaurant is run. For some reason, he even started to yell at the busgirl who was trying to get him to apologize? In addition to holding us hostage for an hour and continued lying, he tries to make the racist point that Indian food is more sophisticated and takes longer to prepare than other types of Asian food. I feel there are certain standards in the NYC service industry given the competition, and this was a confusing and unacceptable experience. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.
