    Lamb with Rice
    Eugene C.

While New York is a city with great food sometimes trying lots of new different restaurants can lead to trying mediocre places. While in East Village one Thursday night, I wanted to try a spot that was only found in the neighborhood. In the East Village there are smashburger spots that can be found elsewhere, same goes for pizza, bubble tea, and sloppy bowl places that are littered everywhere in New York. From this, I decided to give Kebabishq a try. I ordered the lamb with rice. It was okay, not very noteable. The rice was not very flavorful and not much above the quality of a mediocre halal cart, especially for the price. I've had better food at places like Kati Roll. The service was a bit slow. For a fast casual spot, it took about 20 minutes to process.

Its a tiny take out shop with a few seats for dine-in but the food and its taste will surprise you!! Food is legit and loved their bowls. Their chaats are nice too. Do try their bowls with loaded fries!! Great for quick bites. MUST try!

This place is great. I love the variety of kebab options they have, the meat is really well done. I doordashed the ghost chili kebab loaded fries and the malai tikka roll. I think they may have accidentally given me malai on both because the chicken in the loaded fries wasn't spicy at all. It was a hearty meal with fresh lettuce toppings, green chutney and thick fries. I really did enjoy the roll, the paratha was perfectly flaky and the malai tikka with the crunchy onions made for the perfect bite. I also did get the garlic habanero sauce but I was just okay. Overall, I'd recommend this place especially for quick bites, lunches/picnics and grab and go!

Amazing new fast casual kebab spot, from the nearby also great Indian spot, Ishq. They've spared no expense on the branding and the packaging here, which is all gorgeous and very elaborate. Luckily the food is good enough to warrant the lengths they've gone to on design. Get any and all kebabs in any preparation - on their own, in a paratha roll, over rice, or with loaded fries.

I was actually loved this place! I was just looking for a place to grab a quick bite and sat down. I got the skewers combo with chicken and lamb. It took a while to come out but both were so well marinated and juicy.

Really delicious! Good flavor, quality ingredients and friendly service. I got the paneer and malai chicken and both were great.

As someone natively from South India, I was genuinely thrilled to find a South Indian restaurant on…read morethe west side of Manhattan -- these spots are almost exclusively concentrated around Murray Hill and the east side. So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

With that in mind, I don't say this lightly: this restaurant delivers the best Indian food I have ever had. The highlight of the evening was, without question, the lamb chops. Perfectly cooked, exquisitely spiced, and unbelievably tender--they were quite simply the best I have ever tasted. Every bite was a masterclass in balance and flavour, elevating a familiar dish into something truly unforgettable. What makes this place exceptional goes beyond the food alone. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful--striking that rare balance between professionalism and personal connection. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, every detail was handled with care and pride. The ambiance only added to the experience: elegant yet welcoming, with an atmosphere that encourages you to relax and fully savour the moment. It felt less like dining out and more like being hosted. In every respect--food, service, ambiance, and that all-important personal touch--this restaurant operates at a world-class level. A truly outstanding experience and one I will be returning to again and again.

After an hour of waiting for our food, the three tables around us who arrived after us already got their food and were nearly done with their meal. We ask about this twice, and each time the owner says all three tables "pre-ordered" their food. I was confused and asked every table if this was true and obviously it was not. Before leaving, we confront the owner about the inconsistencies in his story, but he just double downs on his lie, alleging that we don't understand how a restaurant is run. For some reason, he even started to yell at the busgirl who was trying to get him to apologize? In addition to holding us hostage for an hour and continued lying, he tries to make the racist point that Indian food is more sophisticated and takes longer to prepare than other types of Asian food. I feel there are certain standards in the NYC service industry given the competition, and this was a confusing and unacceptable experience. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.
