There was a lot of take out and delivery orders but, that kitchen kept up with everything. Friend ordered a lime iced tea which they made and sweeten perfectly. We started with the chicken samosa and steamed lamb momos. The samosas are huge, tasty, and filled to the capacity of shell. The lamb momos were delicious alone but use the spicy dip it comes with and the dish is a flavor bomb. Entrees were Tandoori chicken which comes with a huge bowl of rice. The chicken was fine by itself but put the yogurt sauce on it and it is like a totally different dish. So tasty and delicious. Lamb biryani...Plenty of lamb throughout this dish the spices and flavors blended well and were spot on with just that hint of heat to break a sweat. Garlic Naan... when you first bite into it you get a hint of garlic then you get a nice pop of garlic. They start you with a courtesy flat thin bread with 2 dips...very nice. Recommend ordering from their pre-fix menu, which comes with a appetizer, entree, and side/dessert. We opted for the pre-fix menu with an additional order of garlic naan and jhol momos. Started off with a piece of lamb samosa - super flaky and plenty of filling. Chicken tikka masala didn't look like a lot of food, but trust me there's a lot of protein. I ordered the mango lassi which wasn't too sweet or thick. Please try their jhol momos! It was served in a light broth that was so flavorful. Friends and I were looking for an inexpensive spot that serves quality Indian food near the union square area and we found Sathi. So happy we came here because for less than $20 per person we managed to get some of the best Indian food! We started with the dinner special and got a chicken biryani extra spicy and it was so good. They also serve papad and kept refilling it for us! The chicken tikka masala was also really good but the biryani was so delicious. Four star food, five star service. This has been on my list and I'm so glad I could eat here. We got the vegetable curry and chili mushroom entrées. The chili mushroom was truly fantastic. The sauce over the mushroom is to die for and such a delicious spice. I'm salivating as I'm writing this right now. The vegetable curry had a lot of good greens in that are healthy. Not very saucy though, as far as curry goes. We got this cheese, chickpea appetizer that our server recommended. It truly taste like Mexican salad, but it's Indian. And so much better. After splitting chicken& vegetable samosas with my husband, I ordered the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan (my go-to Indian order) & it was delightful! It ends up being a lot of food (and I'm a big eater) so I had some leftovers for the next day. Our server immediately brought us menus and water and gave us some recommendations. We each opted to go with the All Day Prix-Fix Menu ($23.95) so that we could try each other's dishes which was a great idea. Some of our favorites were the: -Pakora app - a crispy fried onion fritter which came with a nice little mix of dipping sauces -Vegetable Samosa app - so good! Crispy on the oustide and packed with a yummy potato filling. Still a good value, it saves a few dollars compared to ordering off the regular menu. I'll say you can skip the prix fix and get the regular menu if you don't really want the three course. It ended up being a good amount of food. Service was really good. They refilled our water frequently and asked us how we were doing. It also wasn't busy so we didn't feel rushed at all. They also started us off with a complimentary dish which I don't know the name of. It was like a lightly fried large chip with two different dips (a spicy green sauce and a sweet tamarind sauce). Personally, I loved the sweet tamarind sauce. They were even better mixed together. We got the vegetable and lamb samosa. The samosa skin was a little thick and more doughy than we liked but still good. The vegetable one was better than the lamb. The lamb had a very gamey flavor that I didn't really enjoy. The entree we got the chicken korma and the butter chicken. The chicken korma was delicious and creamy. The butter chicken was just alright to me, the tomato flavor is strong. The chicken though was pretty dry for both dishes but more noticeably the butter chicken. We also got the plain naan as a side and it was huge! It was cut into four pieces which I liked, it wasn't too bready and was a little crispy. My friend really enjoyed the naan. Personally, I thought the naan was okay, not amazing but not bad either. They almost forgot my kheer but ended up giving another kheer for my friend on the house. I thought that was very nice of them. The kheer was very flavorful and I would say that flavor wise, it was more unique compared to the other kheer I've had. I liked the little pieces of fruit(?) seemed like some sort of berry. Complementary chip with dips was served and it was really light and crispy. For appetizer, started with chicken samosa which was part of the prefix combo ($25.90) and was solid. We came here for a meal before a show at Gramercy Theatre and it was great! There's seating for about 20 people inside, with an area for outside seating as well. It got full while we were there, but not a line out the door. The servers were nice and very attentive (our water cups were never empty). The prix-fix menu is a great deal and extremely filling. They give you a starter at the beginning of the meal with two dips. It's like a big chip, the green dip was spicy, and the dark brown dip tasted like tamarind. For my appetizer, I ordered the pakora which I had never had before. I have no basis for authenticity, but it tasted great! It added a textural difference to my meal since it was crunchy. While not stated on the menu, the prix-fix appetizer is a half-serving so this came with 4 pieces of pakora. For my entree, I got the butter chicken, which comes with rice. It was great and came with lots of chicken. Lastly, I decided to get a side of naan. There's not much to say about that, but it was much larger than I expected. The food was fairly good and more than substantial but there wasn't much of a choice. Oddly enough, the lunch special included the choice of a second entree. We ordered off their All Day Pre-Fix menu for $24 and it was such a great value for the dishes you get. You get an app, entree, and then a side OR dessert. Thankfully I went there with a friend, where I got the Plain Naan Bread side and they got the Gulab Jamun dessert (a very sweet donut ball). I think this area by Flatiron, Gramercy Park hosts lots of great Indian food options, and Sathi is definitely one to check out! We came here with a Yelp reservation, which is recommended, because a continual trickle of patrons filled the space throughout our weeknight dinner experience. The service is fantastic, one of the best I had in a while. They checked in on us, allowed us to take our time when eating, and made sure we had enough takeout containers and bag to go with our leftovers. We opted for the All Day Prix Fix ($27.90), which is a convenient answer if you're looking to get the most out of the Indian food classics. The Lamb Samosa taste was more rich and lively than the Chicken's, but the sauce they came with made both easy to devour. I'm sure there is a slight difference, and we really tried to distinguish, but their Lamb Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken had a very similar creamy tomato sauce. That is not to say both were equally as delicious! Their meat cuts were chunky and not dry at all! The Garlic Naan, I honestly expected a small piece since it's suppose to be for 1, but it was actually this huge piece that played a contributing factor in getting us full. It wasn't as flavorful or aromatic as I would have liked though. One of us picked the Gulab Jamun for dessert in hopes we could share, and maybe it would have been one piece, but the waitress was nice to offer us another one! First, the lamb samosa, was delicious. I made the mistake of using my fork with this one because it crumbled when I stuck my fork into the crisp dough. That said, the crisp outside was awesome, and the inside was flavorful and juicy. So good. The Lamb Curry was really good as well. The meat was so tender and just perfect. Shaky, poorly built wooden floors that creak and shift the entire set-up as people walk in and out. We all did their 3 course prix fix, which is one hell of a deal. You will not leave hungry and may end up taking leftover with you. If you pay with a credit card, make sure to double check that they give you your card back. Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike will find themselves Sathi-sfied here. We ordered the aloo gobhi, bhindi masala, chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosa, onion kulcha, and naan. Chicken tikka masala was delightfully rich with a reasonable amount of chicken (there could've been more; I'd say this was a small-average size). The aloo gobhi was just fine; flavors could be more developed, but there's a good ratio of cauliflower to potato. Bhindi masala had superb flavors, but the texture of the okra was a bit tougher than other bhindi masalas I've enjoyed more (this might just be personal preference). The onion kulcha was the star bread; I prefer naan on the thicker/fluffier/softer side, and this one was just a bit too thin for my taste.
