I can definitely taste a frozen meatball when I eat it. I used to love this place and I can't help but feel like they've gotten lazy. Meatball kofta was always my favorite. It is a little more pricy for one entree here than my favorite Indian buffet for unlimited which is the only reason they lost a star. Indian and Chinese cuisines are my favorite, and Desi Wok makes it... well, decently. The restaurant has a decent, clean atmosphere(the chairs were kind of run down), and I cannot complain about the polite, patient staff. I ordered the curry chicken kharma for my main, spring rolls for the side, and gulab jamun for dessert. I only had to wait for about a quick 10 minutes. The spring rolls were crunchy and good, along with their sauce. The kharma was tasty, although the rice was a little bit hard. I liked the spinach naan that came with the meal, it was flavorful. I can complain about the gulab jamun, though. The fried balls were more chewy than soft, and they had a really strange aftertaste, almost as if they were burnt. I have had much better gulab jamun, I must say. Overall, I liked the restaurant and my dinner, but the dessert kind of tipped the scale for me. read more

I'm a little confused as to what exactly influenced the other reviewers to praise this place. I'm sorry, its a disgrace to Indian Asian fusion. We ordered the Manchurian, Chicken Tikka Masala, the Vindaloo, and the Manchao soup. The Manchao soup was good, everything else was disaster. Way too watery, not enough spice and flavor, the Manchurian is honestly nothing near what typical Manchurian should be. The chicken that was in there were pretty tiny pieces. The so called "Cumin Rice" literally had 4 seeds of cumin in it in a plateful of a batch. The rice seemed like it was leftover from another day, aka, clumpy and dried up. Even the Naan had no flavor whatsoever, and tasted like that was microwaved, no crisp and way too soft. Take it from someone's whose had good fusion food, this is not worth getting. read more

I had the tikka masala with tofu for my first visit here. It was quite good with the sauce how I like it. The only thing I'd say is the tofu was not quite firm enough for my tastes. Perhaps it was not pressed long enough, I don't know. It certainly didn't ruin the meal or anything though. I was surprised by how modern and trendy this place was. The drinks/cutlery display was very trendy with spoons in buckets, etc. Also, Coke and Pepsi do not reign here. Instead, an unheard of (to me) brand called Stubborn supplied the beverages. This is my favorite restaurant in Tulsa! I order takeout here pretty often and stick with the Chicken Tikka Masala. I get hot and its not really all that spicy to me. This is definitely not super authentic, it's more of a "bastardized" American version of Indian food but that's what I like about it. It's fairly priced and consistent. The staff isn't always that great or friendly but has been better since they reopened. I prefer takeout since the seats are pretty hard inside the restaurant. So we ordered dinner to carry out from this place. I live 2 blocks away. My wife picks up the food and comes home to find out they didn't include her dish. Just a pile of rice. So, picks up the phone and calls and tells them that they shorted us on our food. The employee proceeds to tell her that she wouldn't make the food because they close in 10 minutes. Well, this isn't right. Then the employee goes on to say that they would would make it for our next visit. WTF? So, she said it was unacceptable and after some more convincing , they finally relented and said they would make it. So, she picked it up and got home to find they didn't include the reita. This place is a joke and I nor my family will darken the door of this place again. The food was so so at best. Save your money and go to a real Indian cuisine restaurant. Ordered a Lamb Curry (carry out). No lamb in the curry. A few pieces of chopped up seekh kebab in the sauce. Was not a lamb curry. Really was extremely poor. Taste was awful. Desi Wok is not the most authentic Indian restaurant. I got the lamb vindaloo and the samosas. The vindaloo came with kabab meat instead of chunks of lamb. The vindaloo tasted like marinara sauce. There was no hint of the Indian spices that I was expecting. They give you pita bread instead of naan and the rice was instant rice, instead of a fragrant basmati rice. The samosas filling tasted bland like unseasoned mashed potatoes. The best part about desi wok is that they give you good portions for the price but for anyone who is looking for Indian food, I wouldn't bother coming here. This is my first choice for Indian food in Tulsa. I also usually get the same thing every time but its only because I think its so good I'm scared to venture away even though other people I go there with get and love other meals. I love the Chicken Tikka Masala Hot. (you can choose from mild, medium, hot). It comes with two pieces of yummy naan bread and basmati rice. My brother lives in Norman and eats Indian food a lot, he ordered the Khorma Medium and loved it. Another friend ordered the Chicken Biryani, I tried it too, and we both really liked it. Never before have I been disappointed by Indian food. The chai is made from a powdered mix, the naan seems Costco bought and the sauces are simply not good. Plus is REALLY expensive considering the quality of the food. Everything in the menu is $9. For bad indian food. I would not charge more than $5 for these plates. I started eating Indian food while living in Boston. When I visited my family in Tulsa I asked some of my friends where to get Indian food in Tulsa. They said Desi Wok is the best. I walked in and noticed it was very different than all of the Indian places I was eating at in Boston. Here, you walk up to the counter and order your food, fill up your cup and then sit at a table and your food will be out shortly. All of the Indian restaurants I eat at in Boston are very fancy with fine china and stemware glasses. Desi Wok is not fancy but it doesn't have a fancy price tag either. I got the chicken tikka masala and paid half the price I would anywhere in Boston. The food was just as excellent as any other Indian place I have been to. I like paying just for the good food rather than good food and extra for a fancy atmosphere and service. I have since been back several times. read more

The chicken was nicely cooked and plentiful, there was a cup of Masala sauce in the middle that was nice but not flavorful enough for me (lacked a kick..) the basmati rice that should be fragrant was dry and frankly, tasteless! The food here is decent. Good for Tulsa, would be just mediocre in another city. It's on the bland side. Next time I go I'm going to ask if they can make it hotter. The menu is strange. They really should stick to just Indian. The "Asian" side of the menu is random and not very good. I've been twice for takeout, and both times I got home and one of our dishes (something big, like a curry, not inconsequential) was missing. Lesson learned: always check the contents before leaving the parking lot. Twice out of two times isn't encouraging. Desi Wok has to be one of my favorite places to order food from. Usually I stop and pick up a order on the way home from a photo session. We always get the Lamb Tikka Masala Hot (my favorite!) and the Blazing noodles medium. I love to save the noodles for left overs for the next two days. The lamb never lasts that long cause we love it so much! One meal comfortable feeds two people. I can't seem to get my parents to try the Indian food but they really like the sweet and sour chicken. Desi Wok is a great restaurant to grab some Indian food. I usually get the chicken tikka tandoor plate or the masala. The naan is always delicious. They ask what spice level you like and I usually get the hot which isn't too bad. You can ask for extra spicy but be prepared, it's not for the faint of heart. I've had my fair share of Indian restaurants in Tulsa, and I always find myself coming back home to Desi Wok. The Tikka Masala is so wonderfully creamy, and no matter what meat I get it with (chicken, lamb, shrimp, tofu - yes, I've had them all!), it's better each time. Also, I've been to so many places where you have to pay extra for naan and rice if you want it. Like, whaaaa? Thank goodness Desi Wok does not practice that, cause their naan is to die for! However, unless you like Tikka Masala and only Tikka Masala, I recommend searching elsewhere. Every time we've gotten something other than that it has fallen short. Lastly, I will say that I am extremely disappointed by their progress since the fire they had in February of '17. I know remodeling takes a long time, but they seem to be in no hurry. I went here on a Friday night and it was busy. I ordered the blazing noodles because it was "fan favorite." 30 minutes later, my families food came out. Another 30 minutes I went to ask a employee he said they were making it. 10 minutes later, I asked another employee and they said the noodles weren't even being made, meaning the first employee didn't bother to check.
