THE BEST MOVERS IN SAN DIEGO. We recently moved from Little Italy to Del Mar, and hired Designer Delivery for a 2nd time, and they did not disappoint. Their communication before the move was great; they confirmed both addresses and the start time. They showed up 10 minutes early to get their moving equipment and truck set-up, and were ready to work. These guys rock. They wrap almost EVERYTHING. Basically anything that's not in box gets wrapped with moving blankets and secured with moving tape so nothing ever gets damaged. This includes everything from the bed, couches, artwork to smaller things like office filing cabinets and side tables. They even bring a bunch of mobile hanging clothes boxes so your hanging clothes stay clean, safe and secure the whole time. For the larger furniture, and mounted pieces like art and the TV, they bring their own power tools & equipment to take everything apart & down. After the move, they reassemble everything in the place you'd like it. We can't thank them enough. The fact that we used them twice should be a recommendation by itself. I sent out an inquiry for a few quotes a week before my move, and Designer Delivery (Pat) was the first to respond. Shorty after, a handful of other moving companies provided hourly rates that were lower than Designer Delivery's, but I saw that they had contingencies like "3 hour minimum" or "$45 extra" for this and that. I went with Designer Delivery because of the convenience, and also because I'm pretty reliant on reviews as a consumer - and they have 5 out of 5 stars on Yelp. Brock and Pat showed up right on time (10am appointment yesterday) with their huge white truck. I am super low-maintenance: moving from a 1-bedroom to another 1-bedroom down the street in the same neighborhood. Both apartments are on the first floor. I only had 3 major pieces of furniture: a bed, a dining table, and a couch that would need to be taken apart to fit out the door and put back together at the new apartment. Everything else, I had packed conveniently into boxes, and expected the move to take no more than 2 hours total. Last time I moved, it took those movers about 2 hours, and that was an even further drive. The reason I'm not giving 5/5 stars? I was shocked that they were still bringing stuff in my new apartment at 2pm. 4 hours. $440. Do I think they provided good service? Yes - they seem like super chill guys and we had friendly conversation, they wrapped everything carefully and nothing is damaged. Do I think it was worth almost $500 to move from one small place to another down the street? No. I also realized today that they took apart my small book shelf and re-assembled it at the new place for no reason. The book shelf is small enough to fit through the front door no problem. They also drilled the shelves back on upside down, so now the screws on the bottom are showing at the top. Totally unnecessary, and now it makes me question why the move took as long as it did. read more

Wow! These are definitely the right guys for the job, couldn't have asked for better service. I saw all the 5-star reviews on here when I was searching for a company and now I'm happy to add my own. Aaron and his two guys Patrick and Scott showed up right on time at 8am. They quickly and efficiently loaded both my 3rd floor apartment in UTC and my girlfriend's 2nd floor apartment in PB into a single truckload and moved us into a tri-level townhome in Mission Valley in 5.5 hours without the help of a single elevator. They didn't break anything, they wrapped all the furniture quickly and neatly in blankets and shrink-wrap, they hustled the entire time, asked where to place the furniture in the new place, offered to help move existing furniture and disassemble other furniture, and when the invoice came there wasn't a single extra fee or charge other than the hours worked. I certainly appreciated that. I would absolutely hire these guys for a move again and I would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking to move in SD. Few tips, be sure to have everything boxed and organized as much as possible before they arrive, it really helps them stack things efficiently and safely in their truck, and maximizes their truck space and saves you money on delivery time. This is the first time I've hired movers and boy was it the right decision!! I've been without my stuff for about a week (and it was all sitting in a pod in Carlsbad) and found out that Pods wouldn't be able to deliver my pod for another few weeks. Aaron was an awesome guy and he totally saved half of my vacation. I flew in from Texas and our vacation plans were to drive from San Diego to Vancouver B.C. and the Passport agency told me I could get my passport completed the same day. Well as my luck would have it they said it would be ready for pick up on Monday and it was Friday. I was able to meet up with him, give him my money and three days later he went to downtown San Diego in afternoon rush hour traffic, picked up my passport and other documents, and then had them shipped to Washington to the hotel we were going to be staying at. I was very nervous about the whole process and was hoping I wasn't being scammed (since I'm not from the area and I was not coming back) but Aaron totally came through for me and I was able to make it to Canada for the second part of my vacation. In short, these guys are great and I would highly recommend. I just stayed out of the way and they handled everything. I was worried about moving a sleeper sofa that's extremely bulky and heavy. They wrapped it expertly, fit it through the screen doors at my prior place, lifted it up and over a fence, and then somehow fit it through the front door at my new place. Pros: - Were quick to respond to Yelp quote request and stuck to the rate they originally quoted - From my little research, Designer Deliveries seems to be one of few with a two hour minimum instead of a three hour + minimum which came in handy. And to be sure, they prorate the hour so won't try to charge for a full hour if you go a bit over which some might try to do - Arrived on the earliest end of the two hour window and kept me in the loop beforehand to let me know when they expected to arrive - Aaron and Patrick were friendly and good natured the whole time despite the inconvenient furniture - In addition to the sleeper sofa, they also wrapped and moved a surprisingly heavy dresser and high table - Packed a bunch of fragile things including artwork and nothing was damaged in the slightest - Did not waste any time.
