We had a GREAT moving experience with Grizzly! A 1 bed 2 bath, ~700 sq. Ft. Apartment was moved in 6 hours for $940. We had a lot of stuff and our new place has stairs to get up, so it took longer than anticipated and was difficult, but they did a great job. They were extremely nice, helpful & cautious with our items. While it was expensive, it was very worth it! I'd recommend them and use them again. read more

Do not use Grizzly unless you want your belongings and your home damaged. Wish we'd read all the 1 star reviews. As soon as they arrived they told us we had to pay them $100 more for each piece of "heavy" furniture they'd included in the original quote. From there the experience only got worse. The foreman wasn't organized. My wife had to tell his crew what to move where and how to move. As an example she had to tell them how to move a sofa bed into one of our rooms. Our furniture was broken and they damaged our stair rails because they're so inexperienced, incompetent and careless. They didn't read where each box should go, instead asked us about every SINGLE box when the boxes were clearly labeled. Exhausting. The moving crew was argumentative throughout the entire move, didn't listen to direction and told us several times they weren't responsible for things the person who gave the quote said they'd do and the reason we went with them. We had them pack our kitchen and it frankly looks like a kindergartner packed the boxes so we'll see what other damage we have as we unpack tomorrow. We paid extra $ to have our dining table crated. None of the crew knew how to uncrate the table so now we're waiting to see when this can be resolved. After all if this they actually asked us where their tip is and then got in our faces when we didn't give them one. We felt threatened. They then sat out in front of our house unnecessarily longer than they needed to. We tipped and provided lunch for the San Diego based crew who loaded the truck. Because on the sub par job the crew delivering our belongings did, we did not offer to buy them dinner or tip them which we would normally be happy to do if they had done a somewhat decent job. Not the greatest of experiences with these guys. Movers were nice but arrived late even after giving me a time window between 1-4. Their time of arrival was exactly 5:48. There was no communication whatsoever on time frame and I had to reach out to ensure they were still coming. When they arrived, two of the 3 movers had lunch while one was beginning to start wrapping the furniture, which isn't a big deal but it isn't great when they're already almost 2 hours late. They ended up damaging a peloton cord during the process (stuff happens but it's how they respond and take care of it that matters to me) but everything else came out fine. Their warranty/claims is slow and it's been over two weeks since this issue was brought up and a fix still hasn't been delivered on their part. The biggest issue for me has been the communication. Very communicative and efficient. I couldn't lift anything heavy after surgery and had to haul 600 miles from southern to northern california and they made it a breeze. Even though my furniture is cheap they took amazing care of everything and even helped take extra items I ended up not having room for in my own car. The Grizzly team (2) were on time, moved items efficiently, and were so careful. They did not scratch one wall or piece of furniture on other house, even my plants didn't lose a leaf! This was my first very big move in my life which was very nerve racking for me, but Yaroslav and David made my move so stress free and easy. They both worked so hard, had excellent problem solving skills, and never batted an eye at any hurdles that came their way. I will never go back to moving myself again. We had the pleasure of hiring Grizzly for our last move. They were very careful with our furniture (wrapped everything up in blankets and plastic wrap) and super quick. We had a pretty full 2 bed 2 bath that they loaded into their truck in the quick span of 1.5 hours. Our smaller items were pre-packed in boxes by us, while the larger items, like bed frame and office desk, were dis-assembled by them on the spot. The move in process was even faster and took about an hour. They brought everything in and re-assembled everything again. On the day of the move, there was scheduling mix-up that could have caused me a lot of problems, but thanks to ARTHUR taking charge personally to make things right and the kindness of a wonderful employee at the storage facility who went above and beyond to make sure things went smoothly with the move-out, everything worked out fine in the end. My family hired Grizzly in early Nov. 2025 to move numerous large furniture items (and other stuff) from an apartment to our remodeled house. The phone contact was very helpful and set us up with a confirmed date. On the morning of the move, the 3 movers arrived promptly with their professional large moving truck. They were very friendly and professional. They wrapped and padded furniture to make sure it wasn't easily damaged while carrying or in the truck. They worked quickly and efficiently. They were done in the amount of time we estimated, and there were no hidden fees. The price was totally reasonable and worth it (my back can't take moving big things anymore). I hate moving. So much. But Grizzly made our recent move out of our 3-bed 2 story home so delightful. We booked them just about a week prior to the move and they still had availability. We asked for "partial packing" where we packed most things but they helped pack any remaining items or things we found to be too big for boxes. They came at 8:30am and were done by 1:30. They got our boxes and furniture and got the rest of the items packed up in just over an hour, and took about 2 hours to unload. We were doing a local move. They put moving boxes and wrap around our furniture that 99% of our items were in the same condition we had them picked up in, with the exception of small wheels on some furniture falling off in transit. They were really transparent with pricing and there werent any unexpected costs in the end. They included a few boxes, moving blankets and wraps as part of the price. When they were packing our stuff, they needed a few extra boxes and asked us first if we wanted to purchase them. We declined and decided that the items were small enough that we could personally move them after. Overall, would 100% hire grizzly again if I was moving. It was definitely a bit pricier than self moves, but the reduced stress and speed made it So worth it. read more

Did NOT have a good experience with Grizzly recently. I booked 2 people to unload 3 Uboxes for me, to unload my items into an approx 1,000sqft single story house. Uboxes were in the driveway about 15' away from the front door, so it was a very simple and straightforward unpacking. The older mover (in his 50s) became very rude with me and argumentative when they were moving my vintage, irreplaceable desk. I asked them to place it upright so I could get the legs out of the drawers before needing to tilt it on its side again to screw in the legs, and the older mover told me I was treating him like he was stupid. He had a bad attitude for the rest of the move, and quit working early to sit in their truck while the younger mover finished the job. Their levels of English speaking seemed rather varied, so while the younger mover asked me to repeat myself several times, it appears the older one understood English better. It made the job very difficult. The boxes were clearly labeled on 3 sides, and the younger one asked me where to put every single box. They were not efficient at unloading and it didn't seem like they had much experience moving. Even with the inefficiency, it only took 2.5 hours- a half hour less than their minimum booking requirement. Proficient movers could likely have done it under 2 hours. I knew it would not take longer than three hours to unload 3 Uboxes as I have moved cross country several times before, but I was happy to pay for the minimum requirement. While making the booking over the phone, they gave me an estimate of 4 to 6 hours that they put on my quote. I asked him to change it to the minimum number of hours, and he said the system would not be able to do it, but finally he was able to manually override it. So be on the lookout for being overcharged. They also did not put my bed frame together correctly. I kept placing one part of the bed frame in front of them (it was wrapped) and they kept moving it aside. Long story short, they never unwrapped it and right now it's just sitting off to the side of my bed. Hopefully I don't fall through my poorly constructed bed in the middle of the night. Before booking the job, I asked what was the policy if the movers damaged any walls or parts of the house (and not the furniture itself) as that happened to me the last two times I hired movers. They told me they have a handyman they could send and also an insurance policy if need be. I asked them to put that in writing and they refused. If that's your policy, why will you not put that in the contract?! Unless you're lying.... Very sketchy. So when they showed up, the older mover thoroughly videoed and photographed my house before moving any items to make sure I wasn't going to claim damages from them. It was not a nice way to start off the interaction, acting like I wanted insurance claim money when I simply wanted peace of mind to repair any damage they may accidentally cause in the process. Overall, it's no secret moving sucks, and this company/these employees made it unnecessarily stressful. read more

Of the numerous moving companies on Yelp I've tried, Grizzly moving is definitely the most friendly and hardworking people. When they state no hidden cost, they meant it! Honestly, I've done plenty of moves with different companies on Yelp. So I know when someone quotes you low to get your business and start charging you everything from gas/boxes/plastic wraps. All of a sudden your $100/hr quote becomes a $1,000 invoice. They provided a large truck and even uhaul boxes that helps with moving clothes, I know that those things are usually pretty expensive to buy but it make moving clothes on hangers so much easier to transport without stuffing it into a random box during a move. Poor customer service. would not recommend this business to a friend. We felt no accountability was taken for the time was wasted. We scheduled a move at 0800 a week in advance for Saturday. A couple days later (Monday) we received communication that our time frame for our movers to come was moved from 0800 to 1 PM (without explanation). Not our ideal time frame, but we were flexible and agreed so as long as these guys were good. We were promised arrival of the movers from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday Saturday comes-- our boxes prepped and packed as agreed. 12:30 -- we contact them asking when to expect them. No response. After doing back and forth with customer 2:30-- still no response. We call back, we were told they were "30 mins away" 3:30 comes -- no guys come by. 4:00- still no guys. They're late.. We call and they say they were up in Carlsbad which is least another 30-40 mins away. At this point we are upset. Our entire day planned to move and unpacked was wasted waiting for these movers. We ask for a compensation for time loss. Best they can do is take of $5/hr for a 3 hr job. So $15 off a $400-$500 service after rescheduling us later AND having us wait for your guys to be 8hrs late? My burrito for lunch was $15. After asking for the manager (who refused to talk to us directly and hid behind the customer service rep, Roy), the said they could take off $50 out of the entire service. At this point, it's 5 PM. The sun is already down. We wasted our time waiting for YOU. And the best you can do is comp $50 for a $400-$500 service? No thanks. TLDR-- 8 hrs of our move day wasted due to their poor scheduling and communication. Their idea of compensation was $15 off of a $400 service. Manager refuse to speak to us directly, passes the buck to the service rep (who was great btw, thank you Roy, this one star is for you). There are a lot of moving companies in San Diego you can pay over $400 for. You're not missing out with this one. read more

DO NOT HIRE this fraudulent and unprofessional company. They damaged my furniture and refused to reimburse me the .60 cents per pound that is legally required by California law. They will look for EVERY reason to deny your claim. In Jade's response below he says that I declined the blankets. Why would I do that as a customer if it's not to my advantage? He also falsely claims that I declined going into the second day which is untrue. I called the day before asking if I needed to reschedule. See below for the full story, email screenshots and photos. I contracted Grizzly moving on Sunday, December 4th to move furniture from an apartment into a storage unit. On Saturday I called and let the admin (Ari) know that the storage unit would close at 4:45pm. The admin told me that if they couldn't finish the whole move by then that the movers would just keep my furniture in the truck and finish in the morning. The two movers got to my apartment around 1:20pm on December 4th and said that they wanted to look at all the furniture/boxes first before contracting the move for that day. Once they took a look at everything they said that it would be doable to do the move by 4:45pm and once again assured me that if they couldn't finish on time that they would deliver the rest of the furniture in the morning. Unfortunately the move took longer than expected. The movers didn't get to the storage unit until 4pm. Once they got there they took everything out of the truck and put by the elevator. They then proceeded to rush everything to the 6th floor. They were in such a rush that everything was put every which way inside the storage unit and dragged onto the floor. This caused damage to my sofa, a dresser, a lamp and they cracked a bed frame that wasn't wrapped or protected by anything and was dragged on the floor. Because the movers rushed everything inside the storage unit, the sofa was left standing vertically which would cause structure damage in the long run when stored like that.  I had to hire someone to get everything out and organized in a way that would leave space for the couch to sit horizontally. On top of this, they are refusing to pay me the .60 cents per pound in damages that is required by California law. They are saying that I'm not eligible because the movers didn't wrap my furniture in blankets. The movers themselves said that it wasn't necessary for the move and that the furniture only needed to be wrapped in plastic. Save yourself a huge headache and do not hire this company. read more

Don't use. They were two hours late to my reservation I made two weeks in advance. They show up and don't listen to instructions, e.g. I told them not to pack certain items, they did so anyway and that stuff broke. Some of it contained water so all my stuff was soaked by the time it reached my new home. They broke my lamp and it is now over a week later and I am still not reimbursed. It's personal to me, so do with that info with what you will. One of the guys used the dolly on my set of 5 stairs and decided to lift the box off his equipment as he is right at the edge of the 5th stair after I asked him to wait so I could back him up to make sure he didn't damage my brand new floors, idk why but he decided to do so but he ignored me. Dolly goes right into my wall chipping it. Literal shit show, don't waste your time. One could argue that some mistakes could be somewhat excused, but the audacity to ask for tip after it all was icing on the cake. 1/5 at best, do not recommend. read more

Grizzly has just completed my second move into our apartment in Little Italy.They were able to store our furniture for two months at a very fair storage fee. I had to change the dates a few times and they were very accommodating. The crew was very hard working and professional. No damage to my furniture and building. Damien and Max were incredible! They moved my entire 1 bedroom apartment in three hours, which is the minimum amount of hours they charge. It was super quick, efficient, and they handled all items with care. For fragile items they would even bubble wrap them before putting them in the truck. 4 years ago we used Grizzly moving & storage for my parents' move and had a great experience, so I referred my friend, a single mom, to use them for her move. The movers worked very slowly in order to make more money on their hourly rate. In the process, they broke her treadmill but didn't notify her. (She discovered it a week later but didn't have mover's insurance.) At the end of the very late evening, they told her she owed far more than the original estimate. She had to speak to a manager to negotiate the rate. Only after promising not to write a review, they agreed to the previous quote. I am so disappointed that they took advantage of a single woman.
