The flowers Victoria, Riane + Team DBA put together for our wedding were absolutely spectacular, stunningly perfect in concept and execution. The colors were gorgeous, the flower choices inventive and beautiful, and the amount and scale of the arrangements generous. Also the bouquets were exactly what was called for- beautiful blossoms assembled with a feel for the lightness of flowers. They also picked candles that were perfect. This review is long overdue but my friends asking me for recommendations for flower places, we could not recommend this place. They delivered everything on time and the flowers were great but they had taken back two very large arrangements for our ceremony on a penthouse terrace to also be used for our after party. We had arranged for the pedestals the arrangements to be taken but not the flowers (after all we did purchase them). When we returned with our guests after dinner to the penthouse, the flowers were all gone. It even says on our invoice "pedestal rental." If they have been in the wedding industry that long and do this day in and day out, something is fishy about taking back flowers when it clearly says on the invoice that only the pedestals are rentals I tried calling but no one picked up (a Saturday night of course). They apologized on Monday, did not refund the money and sent a small bouquet to make up for it but it was too late. My guess is that they reused our flowers for another wedding on Sunday. The moment was gone and we will never recommend this company. There are better places out there, it is just not this one. read more

My husband and I decided to do a somewhat last minute small elopement since our wedding was postponed due to COVID. I really appreciated Jay's communication with me as I inquired about their bouquets and boutonnieres. And I especially appreciated his patience and understanding as I kept on making revisions to my order. However, it didn't occur to me until much later (when I decided to move forward with Designs by Ahn) that I didn't even know what the color scheme of the bouquet they were planning on designing for me. I had to ask, which wasn't my experience with other florists. I don't believe I was asked if I had any specific flowers in mind either. Upon receiving the flowers, while they looked beautiful and the color scheme was correct, they looked wilted when you look closer. It was a bit upsetting considering I had paid $200 for my bouquet alone but tried to not let it get to me since it was my wedding day. I can't say enough good things about Designs by Ahn. They took care of my flowers for my wedding this past December (a small affair). I needed a bridal bouquet, boutonnieres, and a bouquet for my maid of honor. I didn't book anything far in advance. I met with Victoria to go over what I wanted only weeks before the day, to go over what I wanted. I brought a couple of photos to show her, and was assured that she could create something similar. I didn't have to say much, she seemed to just know what I wanted (read my mind? Photos were helpful? Either way). The flowers were delivered to my hotel suite the morning of, and they arrived right on time. I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. By far the worst florist I have dealt with. After ordering from them a couple of times in the past I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a nice arrangement this past weekend. I chose a delivery window between 12:00-3:00pm. When they didn't come in that time I contacted the store to see what was going on and spoke with Jay, who was very nice and told me they had a large event in the Hamptons and some orders were not able to be delivered. Mine being one of them. Unfortunately, rather than them reaching out to let me know this - which would have been a much better way of handling the situation, they just decided to not reach out at all and I had to be the one to contact them. Jay apologized and told me that he was not involved with the order, they had dropped the ball and it should not have happened. He then offered to send an extra "special" arrangement on Monday when they got their fresh flowers delivered. Monday came and when I didn't hear anything by 4:00pm, I once again had to contact them to see what was going on. Again, communication would have been key here. Perhaps a heads up on when they were going to be delivered? Shortly after, my girlfriend was contacted by the delivery person who was very nice and wanted to deliver the flowers but she was not home. So, after all of this and wanting to surprise her; she never got the flowers, I was refunded the money, and it just ended up being a huge disappointment. Not to mention a waste of time. I am a chef and have worked in the service industry with florists for over 35 years. I certainly understand things happen but not communicating what is going on to the customers who are supporting their business is not a good practice. If they had the courtesy to reach out and let me know what happened I would have appreciated that and been ok with a later delivery. And to also have my 200.00 order overlooked because they had a "large event" is totally unacceptable and also not a very good excuse. Don't take orders if you can't handle them. Needless to say I will not be returning again and will take my business elsewhere. read more

I found designs by Ahn on yelp and decided to use them based on all the glowing reviews. They were extremely easy to work with and created a GORGEOUS bouquet based on a few inspiration photos, brief descriptions of what colors I wanted, and they even added seashells because I told them I was wearing a seashell crown. Wow! They delivered! I didn't know what it would look like until it arrived (and I honestly I wasn't worried) and I was FLOORED. My bouquet and the boutonnière that accompanied it were the perfect (and to my surprise necessary) final touches to my gown and husbands suit. I'm giving them one star because, although the flowers are gorgeous, they die in two days. I've had flowers delivered by them at least six times (my boyfriend keeps getting them here even though I tell him not to), and they've died after 2-4 days EVERY SINGLE TIME. Its actually infuriating, and becomes more of a hassle because they then need to be discarded and they're heavy. I'm finally leaving a review because this is simply unacceptable - especially given their prices. If you order flowers from them, know that they'll die almost immediately. Sometimes the ends of the stems aren't even in any water - they're just shoved into the side of the vase sitting between two other flowers lol. read more

WOW! We arranged a wedding with only 7 weeks' time and had a modest budget and even less time for flowers. The original florist we looked at seemed to have gone out of business and other florists didn't inspire confidence that they could do what we wanted for our Indian-Italian wedding. Armed with my Pinterest board and a panic attack, we contacted Designs by Ahn and met with Marisa, who was friendly and helpful. We're SO glad we spent more on flowers than planned because they were so gorgeous and really brought our simple ceremony space (in a conference room at our office building! That simple!) to the next level. A gray January wedding was transformed into a tropical oasis. I had hoped to not have to give up on having the flower garlands we wanted, and was so glad Marisa and her team realized it. It was more beautiful than I imagined! Everything was bigger than I had imagined, too. We had a small altar arrangement and it was plenty big for us. The aisle flowers -- I had been expecting a single flower and some baby's breath -- were full-on mini-bouquets which we brought to our reception site and gifted to our friends. My bridal bouquet was stunning, just what I had hoped for. Everyone kept complimenting the flowers. This company is truly run by artists and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We used Designs By Ahn for our recent April wedding and the bouquets and personal flowers were everything I've ever pinned/instagrammed and hoped for! We've only went to their studio once and everything else we communicated through email. We opted for only personal flowers (bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres) and no centerpieces or flower decorates for our venue. I sent them numerous pictures of my ideas, as well as color scheme, my dress, my bridesmaids dresses etc. Every time I contacted them, it was usually someone different who replied to my emails, but everyone was on the same page and responded very promptly. I was searching in the area for a flower shop that would be willing to create a cute and colorful flower bouquet for a friend that was getting her marriage license that day. My friend wanted the gathering to be very casual, and knowing her she wasn't going to prepare any bouquet for herself...so I went ahead and decided to get one for her! There was nothing that caught my attention in the area (I walked into 4-5 flower shops in the neighborhood), so as soon as I found Designs by Ahn, I decided to give it a go. Once I got there, it was obviously an office space (beautiful and full of flowers) with clients ready to discuss and plan for an event. I felt self-conscious because I only wanted a bouquet...however, they were so welcoming! After I made my request, they happily agreed, asked me for a price range, and asked for a general impression of the bouquet. All I said was: "$50 and bright colors! My friend is getting her marriage license :)" The bouquet my seem pricy, but come on, my friend was getting officially married! I waited for 10-15 minutes and out came a stunning bouquet of flowers. I had a great time meeting with Victoria to discuss wedding flowers. She was professional and really inspiring. You could tell she was thinking about everything I said. She helped me understand more about flowers and think about what kind of look I was going for. She's great at thinking on her feet. Her studio was also fun to meet. You could see all her vases and all the vessels she works with on her pieces. Victoria also had one of the best prices for wedding flowers, which was a nice surprise given how beautiful and intricate her arrangements were. A huge disappointment. I ordered the large arrangement online for my upcoming engagement party. The photo in the image online said it was the large so I wanted this same look. When I received my arrangement it was definitely a small arrangement, not the large that I had purchased for $250. It was clear, my arrangement had 16 flowers total. It didn't use any of the greenery that I had loved from the image online, it almost looked as if they gave me someone else's arrangement. I'm wondering, did they think they could give me something and pass it off for a large, thinking I wouldn't notice the difference? I called and sent photos and they said they couldn't replace it regarding the time constraint so I was left empty handed for my party. Really very sad. This review is long overdue, apologies! Victoria made the tabletop centerpiece arrangements for my parents' 60th Anniversary dinner January 2017. It was very short notice, just a few days, and we had a tight budget .... Well, Everyone was talking about the exotic flowers and simple dramatic arrangements! Even the special events caterer at the upscale restaurant (Thalassa in Tribeca) was impressed. Gorgeous, romantic, and so memorable! I drove Victoria nuts with endless questions and much hemming & hawing (how to choose??!!), but she patiently hung in there. And they hand-delivered the flowers to the restaurant, each glass vase individually packed in its own cardboard box. I interviewed 5 florists for my wedding, and ended up with Designs by Ahn because Victoria immediately understood my vision when we met. I showed a couple Pinterest photos and inarticulately explained what I wanted, and somehow Victoria just got it! My husband and I could not be happier with the choice. DbA made stunning, flowing, ombre arrangements for our long dinner tables and a gorgeous asymmetrical, bright, yellow and purple wedding arch. My bouquet was also absolutely stunning and as luscious as I asked. Note: DbA has a very small (though incredibly sweet and thoughtful) team and space. They're not one of the NYC machine-like institutions though, and that's what makes their aesthetic sense and arrangements so unique and special. After meeting Victoria at her studio in midtown (which i have to say was a spitting image of my floral aesthetics) I booked her on the spot. She turned my vision into a reality for our wedding day at the Foundry. It was so easy working with her since she knew the space so well. I had a very specific look I wanted and even created a spreadsheet of how things should look for each room. Victoria probably thought I was neurotic but she was always super sweet, composed and flexible. She worked with my budget and provided suggestions. She knew I wanted a very natural simple garden-esque look and suggested creating a simple arch in place of two arrangements for our ceremony. So glad I listened to her since it provided as a beautiful backdrop for most of our photos. Victoria took my idea and created something more than what i dreamed it would look. I had a beautiful spring wedding reception and the highlight was definitely the flowers. My guests commented left and right about them. I really enjoyed working with Victoria at Designs by Ahn and found her taste to be impeccable. I think she goes for a classic clean look with a modern flare. If you are budget conscious, make sure to present it to Designs by Ahn - they will do their best to work within the budget. If they recommend something that goes over, they will make sure to tell you and give you options. I used a mix of short arrangements and tall to give the ballroom some variety. For the short arrangements, she arranged some real color bombs that popped on the table. For the tall, she recommended the cherry blossoms because they were in season. At first I was resistant because I thought cherry blossoms were so cliche for asian weddings. But then I was SO happy with them because they were exquisite and extraordinary. They were so lush and full, with glass lanterns hanging and the base vases were gorgeous and perfect. Guests joked that I had hacked a small cherry tree for each table. After the reception, my mother-in-law was so in love with them that she tried to chase them during clean up to save them. Victoria also recommended gold candleware (rented from Ahn as well) that went perfectly with the chiavari chairs. She went with me to the Party Rental showroom to pick out linens to complement the flowers. She helped me choose a gorgeous champagne chantung that really picked up the subtle hues of the room and gave off a gorgeous sheen. She also helped me try to pick a good purple for my napkins to go with my Vosages chocolate favors without being too matchy-matchy. At the end I almost couldn't make any decision without Victoria! Designs by Ahn might have been my favorite wedding vendor. Victoria made the wedding look STUNNING with her centerpieces - huge, cherry blossom boughs at each table adorned with hanging candles. Absolutely breathtaking. I also LOVED my bouquet of soft pink calla-lilies that were so striking and gorgeous in the photos! My bridesmaid bouquets of pink peonies were also incredibly spring-y and i LOVED them. She was really flexible, and dropped off our bouquets early at our hotel so we could take photos before the ceremony. She also set up our aisle runner for us, even though we didn't purchase the runner through her. She was also really understanding about my budget and was able to work with me to make sure I didn't go over it, and allowed me to rent vases from her and to re-use centerpieces for the ceremony. Ahn's people set up a flower arch, did flower centerpieces for two long tables and 5 round tables, bouquets, wrist corsages for the moms and bouts for the men. The wedding was in a farm house and the flowers were outstanding and worth every penny; they added as much to the ambience as did the food, the liquor, the band, the photo booth and the gorgeous bride in her fantastic dress.
