    Cinnamon roll
    Carlye M.

We stopped here for some morning treats during a recent stay at a local AirBNB. This place has lots of small-town goodness. An older gentleman came in and the staff recognized him and chatted with him, and I just love the charm it lent to this bakery experience. We settled on a delicious slice of chocolate chip bread and a cinnamon roll. The bread was really thick, heavy like a pound cake, and studded with chocolate chips. What was not to love? The cinnamon roll had crunchy edges, but someone has to eat the rolls that line the outside of the pan. After that outer layer, there was so much cinnamon goodness, and it was thick and plentiful. The roll itself was the perfect blend of chewiness and dough, not too bread-like at all. The cream cheese frosting was generous and delicious. All in all, I'd come back in a heartbeat for more treats! They do have an ATM in case you need cash. Street parking was easy to find.

She was such a lovely person to work with for our wedding cake! Not only did she deliver a cake that she had never done before... It came out beautiful... And to feed about 100.... The cake was only charged at 245!!!!!!! ( We tipped big time).... She also put together beautiful tasting cupcakes for my husband and I before... On VERY SHORT notice. She delivered to the venue for no charge ( we were in Santa Cruz though) All of our guests LOVED the lemon and raspberry layers we picked. Amazing, Buttercream done perfectly...

Beautiful Chocolate Ganache cake from Dessert 1st Bakery

I ordered a special cake for our Mother's Day celebration for 20. Lori came through with a classic chocolate ganache cake for us...smooth dark chocolate chilled perfectly, silky, rich, cake baked light and all the chocolaty goodness you would expect...we all enjoyed it to the last crumb! There were 4 birthdays among us too, the decorations were fun!

Beautiful baby shower cookies with hand painted bees as well as fondant honey combs

Lori is fantastic! You can't go wrong with any thing she makes- savory or sweet! She is very accommodating when it comes to flavors/designs. Great prices for quantity of what you order. She does wedding cake tastings in house that never disappoint. Give her a call!! You'll be glad you did

    a wedding cake and cupcakes

We ordered desserts from Lori for our Roaring Camp wedding in November 2021, and everything was amazing! We chose a small two-tier cutting cake, as well as mini cupcakes, eclairs, mini pies, and brownies. The cake flavor we chose was orange, which was THE BEST cake I've ever had. Sadly we left the very next morning for our honeymoon, and I wasn't able to save some for our return, but I brought a big chunk of it with me on the way to the airport and just sat there in the car eating cake for breakfast - refusing to let it go. We'll have to order a small one someday soon! Lori was super sweet to work with, and set everything up beautifully with the dessert trays I'd bought. She was also very reasonably priced, which we appreciate living in the Bay Area. (And came highly recommended by the Roaring Camp staff!) Please do not hesitate to schedule a tasting with her for your wedding.

    Naked lemon cake

After calling other bakeries for my destination wedding, I was able to find Louri. She was the most nicest, sweetest, and helpful person I have ever met. She was able to make my dream came into a reality. I loved my cake and all who I invited loved the cake. Her cake was very affordable and she even delivered which was what I needed. I would recommend this place 110%.

We ordered cupcakes, along with berry breakfast bars for our daughter's birthday last year. Needless to say, it was all delicious and there were no left overs. Lori was easy to communicate with and made the pick up super convenient.

    Dessert bar for our wedding
    Lillian H.

My husband and I hired Lori to make a cutting cake and a dessert bar at our wedding for 120 people. From the moment we stepped into the kitchen to do our dessert tasting, which was amazing by the way, we knew she was the best one out there. At the time, our wedding venue did not offer cake cutting, so we were only interested in having a dessert bar and a small cutting cake. She went above and beyond in curating our menu and gifted us our small cutting cake. Amazing customer service and even more amazing desserts! Our guests loved all the desserts! My only regret is that I didn't stuff my face with dessert at the wedding. Good thing my husband and I decided to order a cake from Lori for many years to come!

Lemon elderflower wedding cake with lemon curd filling and buttercream frosting.

Lori did a fantastic job with our wedding cake! Everyone said it was one of the best cakes they'd ever tasted -- a lemon elderflower cake, with lemon curd filling and buttercream frosting. She reached out to ensure the design was exactly the way we wanted it, and she incorporated our wedding flowers so beautifully. Lori was such a pleasure to work with - clearly a very kind soul and it meant so much to have our wedding cake made by her.

The passion fruit filling was absolutely amazing--fruity, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The white chocolate topping was the perfect finishing touch and complemented it beautifully. I planned to eat only half and save the rest for later, but it was so good that I couldn't resist finishing the whole thing. I first visited during their soft opening in 2023 and have stopped by occasionally ever since. After this visit, though, I think it's officially become my go-to spot for all things delicious. Solid 5 stars for these two. Now, on to the pastries... I purchased a French baguette, an apple tart and chocolate chip cookies. The French baguette was flat, soft, and didn't have any flavor. There was no crust to it, no crackling. Nothing against plain white bread, but it was like plain white bread... when I wanted a baguette. Maybe it was an off day, but I would pass on the baguette. 1 star. The apple pear tart was pretty sweet. And the crust was dense without any layers. It was alright, but nothing special. 1 star. The chocolate chip cookies were the best part of my purchase. Although not a full rant, these were your basic chocolate chip cookie. Slightly better than what you would get in a package, but not the cookie you would come back to. 2 stars.

They got me at chilaquiles. So hard to pass them up on a menu. I was a little disappointed when I got my plate, however, mostly because the serving size of the star of the dish, the chilaquiles, seemed small for this dish. They come with a "side" of beans, which I expected to be in its own bowl, but they were not, and took up most of the plate. No big deal. And they were very good. As were the chilaquiles. Tart and not-to-spicy green sauce that covered the thick and crispy-soft tortilla chips. The eggs were perfectly cooked over-easy and I popped one right on top of the chips so the yolk would spill down. I was happy despite the size. W ordered the portabello sandwich, which comes with blue cheese. He expected it to be served on their home-baked bread, but it was served on a soft brioche bun (the menu is unclear on this point). He didn't like the sandwich at all. Said it tasted like it was basted in butter. Since he had only a couple of bites, I swapped with him so he'd have enough food. I thought the sandwich was good, but think the blue cheese was a bit strong. Maybe that's why he didn't like it. The side salad was nothing to write home about, and seemed like they used bottled balsamic vinaigrette. It had the thick texture from a bottle. Service was just ok. Barely got a smile out of our server. So, knocked a star off for that. And average meal, knocked another star. Ambiance is nice. If I were only reviewing the baked goods, five stars!
