Edited for typos: Dessert Gallery cakes are already delightful to look at out the case. I ordered several cakes for delivery for our wedding using their online site. I asked for setup as I saw in a previous review that if instructed, they could do so. Cakes were delivered a few minutes ahead of schedule, no complaints. However, when i told the driver I'd let him up to set up he said he was only there for delivery. Didn't let that ruin the moment, I took the four boxes of cakes and signed for delivery. Fast forward to cake cutting. The lemon was the star of the show. The cut slice stood up perfectly and photographed well. We ordered four different flavors (lemon, strawberry, german chocolate, and French vanilla). I have been getting text for the last three to four days asking about the cakes and where we got them. Everyone seemed to enjoy the flavor or flavors they picked. Sure, we could have gone all out for the prettiest most elaborate cake, but nothing beats a MOIST AND GOOD TASTING cake. We are still munching on leftover cake as are our friends and neighbors. Lol I would dock a star for the delivery, but the taste and praise made up for the hassle. read more

We were looking for something sweet and The Dessert Gallery was ready to meet our late night craving. I'm still in the search fir the best bite of cake. The dessert bar offers a large array of baked goods from cakes, cookies, brownies, and other treats. They are also known for their specialty award winning hot chocolate! Service was excellent especially for being late at night with still a line of customers. The interior is extremely well decorated with plenty of seating and Pefect for couples and girls night. They have many custom options for your special occasion. I decided on the moms chocolate cake which was moist and flavorful and a great devils food chocolate cake, there was a lot of buttercream maybe slightly too much for a good cake / icing ratio. I also tried their best seller old fashioned diner cake which is yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, it was not as good as the other cake. The Dessert Gallery has exactly what you want if you have a sweet tooth. All kinds of cakes and cookies. Whenever I am craving something, I know I can always find it here. Last night it was chocolate mousse. Under normal circumstances, it is an awesome spot for a date night or to catch up with a friend. They have board games available, have an espresso machine, and they are open until midnight on Saturdays. Currently with coronavirus restrictions, The Dessert Gallery is not permitting indoor dining. They are doing a great job of adhering to social distancing regulations, and we felt very safe inside. Key lime pie - very good Banana pudding-not to my taste too much like banana pudding and whipped cream blended together and the bananas were few small and turning dark. Million $ bar / brownie had a good flavor and with the gold leaf on top looked devine. Service was very good. I would stop in again for the Key Lime pie and perhaps try another dessert. read more

We tried this place late on a Thursday night (9:30 pm) and it was pretty nice. I ordered a chocolate cupcake, red velvet cake balls, and a milk. For that, another milk and a big cookie my spouse got was $19.00 We made our way to the sidewall elevated couch/cafe nook and enjoyed our treats. The black club chair bottomed out when i sat in it which was a little scary but that just means it is well loved. Staff was super friendly and the place was really clean, which was also very nice. We would return and try more things, but not the cake balls. They were way too sweet, saccharine kind of sickly sweet and i was glad i had the cupcake because that was the good part to eat. Getting the cupcake out of its paperboard cup was a little challenging but it was very worth it. Moist crumbly cake with generous buttercream whipped icing topped with chocolate shavings. After dinner, my friend and I thought it would be great (and convenient) to grab a quick dessert here, as it was few doors down from our dinner spot. I really liked the layout and atmosphere, so I was excited to try their desserts. There wasn't space to sit, which was fine since we had always planned to grab and go. Ordering was not *initially* a problem and I got my order quickly. In retrospect, I probably got my snickerdoodle and brookie cookie TOO quickly. When I got home, my heart sank. What I thought was my brookie was actually what looks like an oatmeal raisin cookie. Oatmeal. Raisin. Cookie. With WALNUTS. This might be dramatic, but I was VERY excited for that brookie! It also does not help that I hate raisins and walnuts, so the cookie is useless. As for the snickerdoodle, I liked that it was not overwhelmingly sweet, BUT it was SO dry! I had to make some tea to swallow it down. Definitely not worth $3.50 especially considering the size. Ultimately, this spot was a complete letdown and a waste of my coins. I'm assuming the hype has to be for the cakes, and that you can go there if you have a random late night sweet tooth. 1/18/24 UPDATE: If I could, I would give this spot 0 stars. This is my second time at Dessert Gallery and I can confidently say it is now one of my late night Houston dessert staples! Easy access from the highway makes it a perfect detour on the way home to enjoy some decadent sweets. I got the Mom's chocolate cake after a strong recommendation from a frequent visitor and it was FANTASTIC. Chocolate cakes can sometimes be overpowering and dense, but this was moist with the perfect balance of sweetness and bitter chocolate. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves chocolate! Our friend had to go here for dessert on her birthday. She had to go on Saturday evening when everyone else was hankering for sweets. Note to self, go during the week midday but not lunch time. My friend brought me here on a whim and I'm mad she did because my cake was so good and now I'm addicted!! I got a slice of the toffee cake and at first I was thrown off at how much the cake was (a slice was approximately $10) but it's a pretty big slice and well worth it. For tres leches only. It's hard to find a good tres leches cake, even in our diverse city with Latinx representation. Too much lechera, too fake an icing, too sweet the cake, etc. etc. I then came across this place because my friend who did the tres leches search this past year brought one for us to share yesterday, and wow. The cheesecake here is good, too (NY style but denser, like a non-singed Basque cheesecake), but the tres leches is the one to write home about: not too sweet, sweet enough, no icing, whipped cream on top, and moist and light while decadent - checks all my boxes. read more

The bundt cake was interesting looking, it had cream cheese and candies ginger topping - very christmassy- but.. dry. Got slices of the lemon blueberry and The Big O cake. Slices were on the more expensive side, $10 per slice, but the portion was huge. Cake was moist and decadent. Definitely on the heavier side. Only downside is that the parking lot can be full and they only have 2, 15 min spots in front. read more

The cake part of it was so dry I spit out one of the bites I took it wasn't worth it... it's not at all bc it's a vegan cake... I have had at parties this exact cake but the difference was it was an ordered whole cake picked up by the host of the party (on the day of the party). I have a dangerous sweet tooth! I can just eat cakes for a meal. This was the first dessert spot I visited after I moved to Houston and it did not disappoint. I love their chocolate euphoria and the tres leches cake! You must try these two cakes. If a cafe or a restaurant has cheesecake, I gotta try them.
