My friends and I rented a cabin for a group trip to Big Bear for a yearly tradition that we've all had for 10 years now. The cabin was booked a month in advance and Destination Big Bear emailed THE MORNING OF our reservation at 10am - check in was 3pm- to say our reservation was cancelled because of double booking. The blame was put on Air BnB for a calendar that wasn't synced to the property management's rental calendar. I'm sorry, but what PROFESSIONAL company waits until the day of a reservation to discover that there's an overbooking? Destination Big Bear offered no help in finding a new reservation for our group or refund for our inconvenience/displacement and we ended up paying an additional $500 for a cabin that didn't have adequate accommodations. This is the second time we have been unfathomably and financially inconvenienced by this company and we will not be using them in the future. read more

Very disappointed with this company. Would give zero if I could! Have used twice before without any problems. This time we stayed in a nice home, but, kept finding damaged items daily. The downstairs toilet leaked,broken cane chairs, broken blinds, dog scratches on several doors, broken gate outside, broken window to name a few! Would be impossible to tally in one hour! When we left, all was in same order. Then we get a notice that there were 2 broken items, one we never saw or used, and scratch marks on the refrigerator.I asked for pictures, and the scratch marks were adult height. We had 4 children under 5 who could not have reached that high, nor did we use the refrigerator as it was downstairs! You had no recourse other than deny it and still get charged. We were told we wouldn't get charged for one item, and today the email said they were charging us $50. We waited 2 weeks for the refrigerator person to repair the scratches. This cost was $287.50! I guess I paid for travel time and gas! It is difficult to dispute items when we are no longer there. We depend on the integrity of the company! I am appalled as I called them within 24 hours to report multiple broken, scratched items that were in need of repair! This house was definitely a rental. I realize when you sign on with a rental company you are at their mercy, but, I never expected such extravagant charges! Need less to say, we will not be using Destination Big Bear again! It's not about the money, but lack of trust and the fact that you have no control over the costs!They have had my deposit for 3 months! By far the worst customer service i have ever had to deal with. My family and i were quoted a cabin by this company, and after getting ready to make payment on this cabin they call me asking me if i had paid already and i just said I am on the computer now and they responded "that cabin is not available anymore because a family that was in one of our other cabins is having plumbing issues so we need to rent this one out to them. instead of trying to accommodate both parties they left me out to dry without a call back or help trying to find my family a cabin for the weekend to celebrate my mothers 60th birthday. After getting their hopes up and bags getting packed they literally did not do anything to help. I called multiple times after that and they just kept saying we will call you in an hour with an update and this still do not call back. This is by far the worst experience i have ever had. I have never left a bad review on yelp for any company but this one i felt deserved it. read more

Couldn't have ask for better customer service! I highly recommend the company and their employees. I rented a cabin for my wedding weekend. I was devastated that I forgot to bring an iron to straighten up the mens shirts... one of the employees, Donnie went out and bought a brand new iron for me to use at the cabin!!! We had booked a 1-bedroom place thrpough Destination Big Bear, and were on the way when we received a call from them. Apparently, they discovered a problem with the unit we had booked, so they had already made arrangements for us to stay at a 3-bedroom cabin at no extra charge. They gave us the new address and access code, and the place was ready when we got there. Lights and heat were already on. While the location wasn't quite as good as the smaller unit that we had booked, we were impressed that they had acted so quickly and gave us the larger unit at no extra charge. We'll check back with them next time we're headed up to Big Bear. read more

Have stayed with DBB on multiple occassions and always been a great experience. As with anything, the negative experiences are more likely to generate a review on Yelp. But I literally have no complaints and have loved the cabins. Take your time to look at the photos and call to talk to DBB about the cabin you are interested in. Don't be afraid to pay for the pricier ones, they are worth it. We will continue to return to DBB cabins and I will continue to rave about them to my friends and family. THANKS DBB! read more

My Fiancé and I, were searching for a cabin to book our mini away vacations on April 24 till April 29, 2016 After countless days of hesitation and not really finding what we were looking for we called Big Bear Destination. We ended up in the stunning Grand on the Shore, after our original lakefront rental (through a competitor) became "uninhabitable" the night before we arrived. We had booked the original lakefront home 9 months earlier and had our hearts set on a lake view for our big family get together. The Destination Big Bear team was extremely accommodating on a moment's notice, thank goodness. They prepared the paperwork as we headed to their office and had the home ready to go, upon our arrival. (The cleaning crew was just wrapping up.) We were so grateful, since we did not have a place to go when we drove into Big Bear that day. The home was absolutely beautiful with an equally beautiful view. It was on the water and was also within walking distance of the village. 16 of us spent 5 days there and we all agreed that we could not have vacationed in a more perfect lakefront house. Plenty of room to spread out, yet it had some fun, community spaces like the game room and the great decks (4 decks total). If ever we find ourselves in Big Bear again, we will most definitely go with a Destination Big Bear rental. I forgot my engagement ring at the property and didn't realize it until we were driving to the airport. Just returned from an AWESOME weekend at the Hunters Lodge cabin! The cabin was wonderful, super clean and really easy to locate. The Wi-Fi at the cabin was awesome, i was able to stream from Amazon Prime without any issues. The cabin had more than we needed and was just the perfect location to stay. We booked through AirBnb and had a great experience there was no lag in communication and every time we had a question, we received a response right away. Kenji was great in getting us up to speed with what to do there, making sure to remind us to check our propane and hot tub when we got to the house. Even the method for checking in so to speak was smooth and hassle free. the house was just amazing. and the service was great. our propane tank finished just as we were getting ready to grill even though it had gas when we first got there and Chuck was great getting it out to us. For my husband's 40th birthday we wanted to rent a large NICE cabin in big bear for a group of friends to celebrate. Looked through what felt like endless websites and cabins until finally thankfully we found destination big bear. Everyone there was beyond helpful always friendly very professional. We booked with them and stayed in Waterscape Estate. There was nine of us and it was absolutely awesome! When we arrived one of the TVs was not working we called the office and I would say not even 20 minutes later an awesome maintenance guy named Chucky showed up he was so friendly and professional and made sure all was as asked. Bill from Maintenance was a great sport and a big help. we had an issue with the gas grill for which the management provided us with a propaine grill and a small charcoal grill. but that was not enough for the amount of people we had to bbq for. bill bought us a new charcoal grill and assembled it before bringing it to us. eventhough property did not provide the charcoal for the grill, bill went out of his way to buy us charcoal so we wouldn't have to leave the property to find charcoal. read more

I was incredibly skeptical about booking with this business. I looked at the reviews and they were 50-50 , either way. My biggest concern was that it was a fraud because of all the internet fraud out there, and they wanted me to pay via pay pal, which I wasnt familiar with. I looked at other cabin rentals with different rental agencies prior to my decision, they were older and run down and much, more expensive so I went for it! I rented the "place in the woods" maybe it was "in the woods" at the recommendation of the staff at Destination Big Bear. We loved the place and while there were minor things wrong, it was worth way more than we paid! I think the property looked even nicer than the pictures and the process was extremely painless. My suggestion to the people that wrote less than favorable reviews is good luck finding a better place for the cost. I will rent with Destination Big Bear again, my family and I had a great time! It was our first time up to big bear and we booked through airBnb when we got to our designated cabin no power or water was working we were really cold. I called destination big bear to see what the situation was and they said they'd have to move us to another cabin. We paid for an older 4bed 1pullout sofa cabin and nick bumped us up to a cabin that even though had one less bed it was way more spacious and updated. He even refunded us for 1 night due to all the problems we encountered which is awesome. In our new cabin we were literally a 5min walk from a big park that had sledding going on for free and hiking trails. If we drove 10min alpine slide magic mountain was there and that had way more snow activities. The dump site was a 4min drive. Morning star cabin was in the heart of everything. Although we had a rough first night, thanks to nick at destination big bear we had a warm place to sleep/stay and hot showers. We're definitely going to come back! read more

What an awesome experience! To start the booking process was a breeze, the communication and directions were great. Upon checking in, we were greeted by friendly upbeat management. We got a free snowboard rental which was helpful. We went to big bear all day then only had to drive 6 minutes to our cabin, talk about location! This is the best resort rental company I have ever used and I will now use them exclusively in the future. We arrived at the business office at prime check-in time with a load of people there and so we expected the process to take forever. However, there were so many agents checking in everyone that we breezed in and out of there. We were given detailed instructions for the stay with a 24-7 # to call in case of need. We originally rented a condo in the village but right before we left, they called us and said it was unavailable. They did upgrade us so no complaints there though the cabin that we upgraded to was near the Summit ski slopes and not the village. We weren't planning to ski so that was an inconvenience. The cabin was pretty badly dated but very spacious. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable except a wine opener. And it was very nice that they turned the heat up before we came in so we were nice and warm. The one pet peeve I had was the bathroom. Every time you stepped in the middle of the tub, it would indent and then when you took your foot off, it would make a popping sound. Also, there were some spiderwebs (complete with spider) and they really are stingy with the toilet paper. We were left with HALF a roll. Not even a full roll for 3 days... One other note: it really is not convenient to have your guests haul their garbage to a dump a couple of miles away. I can understand stripping the bed and doing the dishes and turning the heat down. I can understand emptying the trash to take to the door since there is no cleaning fee. But to have to dump it somewhere off premises is kind of annoying. read more

Do not do business with Destination Big Bear. We rented the Grand Mountain Retreat ( 1148 s Alameda). It looked nothing like the pictures they use to advertise it. One of the main reasons we chose this place was because of the play structure showed on the pictures ( our group included 10 kids under 12). We inspected it before allowing the kids to play on it, only to find that it was unsafe for them to use. It was missing planks and felt unstable. We were also told that propane would be provided. The tank was empty! We had to drive all the way down the mountain to refill it ourselves. The grill was filthy. So much so that we had to unclog the burner to get any flames to come out. Needless to say it took us way longer than we expected to get dinner ready. Before we departed we cleaned and put away all the dishes and took all our trash (since the girl at the office told us that's all we had to clean before leaving) and they do charge a $300 cleaning fee which I would think would cover the sweeping, and picking up that we would normally leave behind in a hotel room. Hours after check out they're messaging us telling us that they're holding $1000 because they found grapes on the floor, game pieces left outside their boxes and a spill on their wood floors (which were completely scratched and beat up to start with). Our mistake was not taking pictures upon arrival, and during our stay to prove that 1. they did not give us what we paid for and 2. The house was clean when we left. So if you decide to do business with them, take pictures of everything!! read more

When we arrived at the "Luxury in the Woods" rental, we were completely blown away by the house! It looked so much grander than the website photos. We moved quickly from room to room discovering a new wow factor with each location. The thing that struck me most was the attention to detail. It was clearly well thought out and nearly everything was thought of and carefully considered. I am a professional Interior Designer and owner of a company that specializes in hotel design. Our primary focus is always on the guest experience and really thinking through every possible interaction they might have, then designing a space that anticipates each need and function while delivering a creative punch. Home run on a fabulous guest experience! The accessories, throws,games, extremely well stocked kitchen, individual thermostats, heated floors, and on and on made the entire experience an awesome one. We had planned to buy a Christmas tree in town and even brought our own decorations. We were so happy to open the door and see the home already decorated for Christmas! You could really feel the thoughtfulness that went into the property and this really made it stand out from all of the others. Add to this the location, the architecture, the new and modern vibe and it was just breathtaking. The cherry on the cake was fresh snow just in time for a White Christmas. Kevin at Destination Big Bear helped us plan it all and we could not be happier. It was a 5-star experience all the way and we will absolutely recommend it to others. Booked a Eagles Nest North for the weekend. Looked at the pictures online and it was exactly how it was described. One of the nicest places my friends and I have rented ever since we have started going to big bear for 7 years. Easy reservation and a lot of parking and space to play around. Had a problem with one of the toilets but we called right away and they came 30 minutes later to fix it. Then when we were already getting settled, another group came saying that they also rented this cabin. Called right away and there seemed to be a little mix-up on finding the payments for the cabin but the workers were very helpful and told us that they were very sorry for the double booking and that they can give us another cabin right away better than the one we had. At first, we weren't sure what to pick so we asked for the name of the cabin, Lakefront Manor, looked at their website and saw what they would give us instead. We immediately said yes, headed to the office to get the new information and went straight to the cabin. If I thought the first one was nice, this one was amazing. Had everything from the first cabin plus more. It was right next to the lake so we were able to walk around in the backyard. I would highly recommend booking with them. The booking process was very easy. All the information about the cabin was online. We have been renting cabin for about 7 years and the place we booked/rented was one of the cheapest and nicest we have seen. They fixed the mix-up right away and not only gave us another cabin but upgraded it. They really want you to have a good time during you getaway. My friends and I were able to check-in earlier than planned and check-out later than what was stated in the rules. Usually, we had to leave and clean everything up by 10AM in the other places I've been to but, here it was at 11AM and we were able to stay till 1PM. I can't wait for next year when we come back to big bear. Definitely booking with you guys again. read more
