    Yummy dairy free tuna!
    Arinne B.

My biggest complaint about this place is that there isn't one closer to me. Service was very friendly-jovial even. It was a super cold day when I visited and I asked for a coffee. They let me know that they didn't serve it, but blew my mind in telling me that I was welcome to get some elsewhere, and bring it in... which is exactly what I did, while they made my totally fantastic tuna sandwich. As someone with a dairy allergy, I appreciated that they knew exactly what was in their food... even down to whether their multigrain bread had any milk in it...it delightfully did not! I love mustard and the tuna had a strong mustard base, so you should just know that flavor will be present before ordering. I really liked the community vibe in the restaurant and the ambience... If this place were closer, I'd be a regular.

Hippie vibe with outstanding food and wonderfully friendly service. New England Clam Chowder and Wunderkind Salad were both delicious. We shared them and were full. You can see in the photo how large each half of the salad was. Highly recommend! Note: Unfortunately, I don't think it's open on the weekends.

A true destination and gem in New Bedford! Soups are mad fresh and are delicious!! Everyone was chowing down when I got in and had to get the legendary portuchese (grilled cheese with chouriço and peppers). Quick service and friendly staff. Great spot for lunch and such cool decor of New Bedford and surrounding areas as well! Definitely a place to check out next time you're on Union St.

Perfect 10/10 on the chicken Caesar wrap!!! I honestly am trying to think of anything I didn't like but the chicken was shredded and moist and very flavorful, the dressing had to be homemade because it was VERY tasty, just enough croutons to give it a nice crunch and the lettuce MAYBE could have been a tiny bit crispier if anything. All around a great sandwich, they said to try the Beast roast beef is their claim to fame I didn't try it it was the first and only time I've been but would definitely come back if I'm the area. Check it out quick friendly service and great food

I absolutely love finding these "hole in the wall" local gems. They had a great menu with lots of tasty sandwiches, sides, and soups. We weren't starving and just wanted a small something to hold us over til dinner. My mom got a tomato soup and I got half a sandwich (the buffalo chicken grilled cheese). I was impressed by the size and price of the half sandwich. I liked the pulled chicken, buffalo sauce, and bleu cheese inside of a perfectly toasty and melty grilled cheese. My mom also liked her soup. We would both gladly eat here again. Service was friendly. Prices were great. I wish this place was located in my current state/city because I'd be here often. If you're looking for a great spot to grab some food on a day of antiquing, this is it!

Tomato basil soup and grilled cheese.

The soup had great flavor but wasn't very hot. They were both really thick. Chicken and vegetable and tomato basil. Servers were super friendly. A decent quick bite.

Really enjoyed this little spot for lunch! Parked at a parking meter a couple blocks away. The workers were very nice. Lots of soups, salads, and sandwiches to choose from. Very fair prices! Split a salad, sandwich and soup and I loved them all! The curry peanut soup was very good and filling, ~$7.50 for a large. The large was very filling and came with bread. The salad was delicious and had lots of fresh ingredients. Loved the grilled cheese to dip in the soup as well. Overall a delicious lunch and I left very full!

We stopped here on one of our antiquing adventures and were not disappointed! Everything was made from scratch and super delicious! Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Nice sunny storefront; a clean and cheery spot for lunch! I had the Santa Fe grilled chicken 1/2 sandwich. There were so many tasty ingredients stuffed inside and a huge portion! I stole some of my husband's chicken veggie soup to have with it (Just like grandma would make). It was absolutely delicious! On the way out we couldn't help but grab a slab of their incredible lemon cake, bursting with lemon filling. Wow! Pre Covid prices made this a wonderful pick!

The best. Simply. The best. So good! Every time I go they hit it out of the part! They chop pup the salads perfectly and rolling into a wrap! Great flavor and quality of food! Only open for lunch so plan accordingly!

    Wunderkind salad.

Get the wunderkind salad. It's not only the best salad in town, it's the best I've ever had and I've had it MANY times.

    Grilled cheese and bacon

Even though I thought this restaurant would be primarily soups I ordered a delicious grilled cheese with bacon. It melted in my mouth. My husband enjoyed his sandwich as well. Place was clean staff friendly!

I had the buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich and the vegetable and chicken soup. Both were quite pleasant. The grilled chicken was seasoned beyond the buffalo sauce and the bread was a good crispy and chewy. I'd suggest giving it a try, but would like to see the buffalo sauce less watery and cheese melted a bit more than what I was given.

I was going to purchase the store brand soup in the deli section when I came across this new brand. There was a promo of BOGO. The price was not listed. The brand was Blount Clam Shack, all the way from the east coast to the west coast (Massachusetts to California) There were only two kinds of soup available - gumbo and New England clam chowder. Okay, why not go for the promo? It doesn't hurt to taste the soup. Drawback? The gumbo is high in sodium (2320 mg if one eats all 24 ounces [3 servings] of it at once). Thirdly, I had some of the gumbo soup with a piece of garlic French bread last night for dinner. The soup was delicious and tasty. This afternoon I had another serving of the soup for lunch. The seasonings must have settled in the soup because it tasted better as leftover. The clam chowder soup is even higher in sodium, so I will put it aside for a few days before eating it. Finally, will I buy it again? Might, then might not. It's pricey like everything else in the deli section.

My only suggestion would be to serve it with a spoon so you can mix the cider into the Prosecco a little more. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Mozambique and it was really good. The flavors were amazing, although I do wish there was a little more sauce. My friend got the chouriço and cheese roll, split and toasted on the grill, and it looked just as good. We also grabbed two coffees to go and tried the pumpkin fluff special. Both coffees were delicious and honestly didn't even need any added sweetener. The restaurant itself is really cute and has a cozy feel. Parking isn't the easiest, so just be prepared for that. The bathrooms were okay, but I'd give them about a 3/5. Our waitress was very attentive in the beginning, and I think she could tell we were there to catch up and weren't in any rush, which I appreciated. There's also some outdoor seating, which looked really cute on the cobblestone street. It was wet and a little too early for us to sit outside, but I could definitely see myself enjoying it another time. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Tia Mariah and will be back to try more of the menu!
