Dinner with a group of friends from work, we had the trash can nachos with pulled pork, boom boom shrimp and hangover bacon which were amazing and great starters. I would like to give this place 3.5*s. I guess it is very slightly more towards 4* than 3*, but not by much, and only if you judge it by local standards. In Georgia, this place would be out of business in a few months. I ordered ribs and my wife ordered brisket. We both found the meat dry, but the brisket had a better than average taste. Brussels Sprouts were good, Mac & Cheese was average. Wine was over priced. We were given one small piece of cornbread each and were not offered more. I'm not impressed enough to go back unless I'm desperate for ribs. If you are a real BBQ fan, this is not what you are looking for. read more

We had a big group and they did a great job with friendliness and service. It took a little bit to get the bill but overall the food made it out quickly. I came to SE Mass to visit family and had an open night to look for a good meal in the Dartmouth Area. Found Cask & Pig on Yelp and thought it looked like a great local place! Got to the parking lot and it was JAMMED! Thought about baling until I rolled down my window and caught a whiff! Damn! The aroma of BBQ was the clincher! Had to give this place a shot. Walked in and there wasn't anyone in line, but it was clear the place was hopping. Then, it began....... Young lady at the hostess station stood there scrolling on the iPad and not looking up. I tried to wave and cough, but no response. "Excuse me...." yeah that didn't seem to work either. What seemed like a long time, probably 3+ minutes ended when another young lady appeared and asked if I needed to be seated. Told her I was a single and wanted to know if the bar offered full menu. Got "lucky" to snag the last seat at the bar. Well, two young ladies working the bar and........you guessed it, my cloak of invisibility was still working. One, that I think had my side of the bar walked by me several times not really seeing my finger up or that I was a new customer. Couple next to me, said they'd just had dinner and food was decent but lest just be nice and say "staff is not very attentive!" Ahhh, not just me..... The second young lady finally made eye contact and saw my desperation and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Asked for a list of beers and wines they serve and got that straight away. She actually returned in a couple of minutes and I ordered a Guinness. Paydirt! Well.....the clock began to run.......bartenders certainly were doing stuff, but it wasn't really that frantic thing where you see folks understaffed, it just didn't look like experience at play. A young man then joined the crew behind the bar. Offered the guy next to me a refill on his water and then asked me if I needed to order anything. I said "ordered a Guinness but nowhere in sight." The guy next to me chimed in "he ordered it 10 minutes ago" I ordered Mac N Cheese with brisket and finally got my drink. Couple next to me got up to leave and said, "good luck! Hope you fare better than we did with the service. Food is solid, but hard to come back when it's like this." NGL....it didn't get better. The young ladies who took the place of the couple ordered loaded nachos, they came out "ice cold" and had to be remade. They got both shots at their food before my order came out. A guy next to them had to have a mixed drink remade as it was wrong. Getting the check, well....that gave me lots of time to watch and look and chat with the folks next to me. One of the girls told me the young man who came behind the bar is the owner. I asked, "does he know the restaurant business?" It wasn't a joke, I just thought, a nice looking place, a hypnotic smell to bring you in, and decent food but absolutely wiped out by nonexistent service. I get it when the staff is flying around and the are playing prevent defense, but this was more like no one realized that anything was wrong and just doing what they do. It's a bummer to write a review like this. I love to have nice local places like this in my rotation when I travel, but this one......it's a hard pass for my next visit. Went here recently after having it bookmarked on my Yelp account for what seemed like five-ever. It was definitely worth the drive and I would go back, however, I would probably try something barbecue centric next time. The restaurant is spacious and super clean, and as I was there on a weeknight, they only had one part of it open. I can imagine how busy it must be on the weekends! I sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and fun- you can tell it's a neighborhood spot where everyone knows your name and your drink order, and you can't fault a place like that. They have tons of drink options, I opted for one of the seasonal Sangrias, which was fabulous. I would surely recommend Cask and Pig at the very least for a drink and appetizer. The Pretzel Sticks were buttery and yummy, and a great way to kick off a comforting fall meal. Comfort food is the watchword of the menu, with items like Shepard's Pie (pretty good), burgers, chicken and waffles, etc. They also have an ample selection of house smoked barbecue items and the side fixings. Some of the items we tried skewed a little bit too close to salty, so I'd order different things next time, however, I will certainly be back! We were in the area and found Cask & Pig Kitchen instead of quick reservation. We're able to walk right in at our assigned time. The staff were very attentive and worked very hard. We counted 13 TV screens from our vanish point. I think there are closer to 20. Chicken and Waffles - 5 stars - the chicken was done very well. The very juicy. The waffle was passable. Overall is when we would get again. Sirloin Tips - 5 stars - by far the best thing we had. Came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We all sampled off the plate. Chopped Salad - 3 stars - a decent looking salad. It was extremely heavy on the blue cheese. They don't feel like there is much to it. We did not get the protein on top of it. We felt it was needed after we received it. We might've felt better with some of the sirloin tips on there. Half Rack Ribs - 3 stars - they were OK. Probably should move them to a four-star. I smoke a lot of ribs myself and have become a bit of a snob. They were OK but I would not order them again. The bacon maple sprouts made it worth it. WHAT WE WISHED WE ORDERED Trashcan nachos. They looked amazing. I wish we would've got them just for the show. They shove it all into a bottomless can and when they take it to your table, they removed the can and let the nachos fall. It looked amazing. Shrimp and grits. We saw other another table had ordered them. They looked amazing. If we come again, we will for sure try them. Trashcan brownie. I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times! I honestly don't know why I don't go more often because I love the ambiance, food and beverages. They do some of the best local BBQ in the area and if you don't believe me, just drive by the joint---it's always packed! We have given Cask and Pig more chances since our last review. We truly did have disappointing service during COVID, and that is taken into account for this review. Recently we have come a few times just ourselves, and other times with some friends. I appreciate that there are always new beers and ciders on tap. They always have games on the bar tvs so you'll never miss out. Recently the food has been really tasty. We have our favorite choices. My husband has celiac and hasn't had any issues with the gluten free choices. His favorites include the burger, salmon and steak tips. French fries are cross contaminated so he chooses another option. Chili and fries are my go to, and I'm never disappointed. Service is hit or miss depending on the day. We arrived for dinner and were seated fairly quickly. The restaurant was very noisy with rock music far too loud to not have to speak very loudly. Two of us shared the ribs, baked Mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts. One had fish and chips and the other kale soup and Mac and cheese. The last two meals were fine. A good kale soup. The bbq ribs were definitely fall off the bone but so dry that pieces were almost like toothpicks. Delicious baked Mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts were great tasting but appeared to be the dregs of the pot. Service was a bit slow but satisfactory. Wanted to try new placed around UMass Dartmouth. We were seated right away with option of indoor or outdoor dining. While we chose indoor the deck seemed shaded and also had heaters for evening chill. The menu had lots of options for everyone. We started with the sticky ribs and savored every bite they were so delicious and tender. My son got the brisket grilled cheese. The brisket was very flavorful but the cheese wasn't a type we enjoy. It was the perfect crispy crust on outside. I had a special salad that had blackened chicken with pineapple, coconut, guacamole, pico de gallo Not common combo but complimented each other very well. I absolutely love the vibe of this place! Definitely giving old country barbecue. I went in and the staff were absolutely amazing and got a sat right away. I never been here before and I can say my first experience was amazing. I believe I ended up getting their pulled pork mac & cheese that I would absolutely recommend. The pork was tasty and flavorful, and the macaroni was absolutely perfectly cooked. I also ended up getting their Twinkie tiramisu which also even though it sounds a little weird was absolutely delicious. One Star -- Would Give Zero if I Could I spent $75 on takeout tonight and ordered scallops. Unfortunately, they were extremely fishy and chewy--clearly not fresh or properly prepared. I called the restaurant and spoke with the owner, Owen Rivera, to see if I could return the food. He told me not to waste my time and that he wouldn't do anything about the poor quality. I've never been treated so poorly by a restaurant before. The high prices are bad enough, but to have an owner who completely dismisses customer concerns is unacceptable. First time dining at Cask & Pig and it was mediocre at best. The service and ambiance were great. Our waitress was excellent. My son and I got the brisket - the seasoning/flavor and BBQ sauce was great but the meat was tough. We both enjoyed the taste but our jaw actually got tired from chewing. We were disappointed but we didn't say anything. (I never send food back). My daughter got the short rib Ragu. It had plenty of tender short rib; the pasta was cooked perfectly but it lacked flavor. All you could taste was plain tomato -no salt, pepper, garlic, or yumminess. My husband got the BBQ platter with ribs that were great. The pulled pork was dry. His brisket must have been from a different piece than mine and my son's because it was way more tender than ours. The food is reasonably priced and if our brisket wasn't so tough, it would have been delicious. I was a bit baffled and disappointed because this is a restaurant that specializes in BBQ -it should have better way better. I am only an amateur smoker and I must say, all my briskets have turned out better -way more tender. Maybe this was just an off night (Wednesday 6pm), so I may give this place another chance. Or waitress was very pleasant when she arrive and took our order. We had the starter which was a roasted corn and cheese dip and it was fantastic. I am glad we didn't wait to put in our main dish orders because it took a while for them to come out. The place is comfortable with a sports bar feel with lots of viewing everywhere you looked so we were entertained while waiting. Our mains came out and the food was great and we all enjoyed it very much. My only complaint was the slow service and it was mostly due to being short staffed. The food was good however I was really upset with how the end of the lunch went. I asked for my bill to be split in half. The bartender ended up charging my card the whole bill and then when she realized what happened she voided the transaction and charged it for half. She then came and explained what happened and asked the second person I was with if she could charge her card. Honestly she should have came to me first instead of almost tripling my payment and my guest and I could have figured something out. Now i'm out about 100$ and have to wait business days for the amount to clear, mind you tomorrow is saturday. Frustrated that my guest was asked if it was okay to proceed forward but charged me a second time and couldn't ask. Not all of us have 100$ extra dollars to be on hold. Usually I have great experiences here but I was really dissatisfied today. Being a past bartender and now working at a bank I know how the process goes and I get mistakes happen but it would have been appreciated if I was told prior to the additional charges the situation since we do not know what is pending for the other person. The food, for *me*, was really good. However, some of my family's food wasn't quite as good as it would've been were it just a bit hotter. It is understandable for the time of year though, as we came during a pretty busy night (the night before Thanksgiving). Despite this, our server was very sweet and attentive even though it was so busy! As I have a hearing disability, we made reservations ahead of time and requested a quieter table if possible; they did their best to accommodate this and we were seated in a very good spot given the environment (booth close to the corner, next to a wall). We had some of the complementary cornbread, which was okay. The portions here are a bit on the larger side, so we opted to just get entrées (given the date). For my entrée, I got the Crazy Good Scallops which were, true to their name, crazy good. The wasabi and soy sauce added a really nice touch and gave a nice contrast to the heavier parmesan risotto and the delicious seared scallops. I honestly wish I got more of that wasabi and soy sauce, it was so good! Overall a nice place, but the food could have been a bit hotter. read more

Mr. B and I went out for an early dinner (at 4:45pm, we're such old farts now..) to a place we'd been before and loved. I had seen a post from their Facebook page and had to race to Dartmouth and the Cask & Pig Kitchen and Alehouse. The photo was enough to catch me but the description did me in. I had to have it. Baked haddock topped with chorizo-cornbread stuffing sitting on maple-bacon brussels sprouts surrounded by lemon aioli and topped with french fried sweet potato strings. It was a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Man, it was delicious! The last time we were there, it was also in the afternoon and quite busy. We had fried pickles, deviled eggs, barbecued burnt ends and a delicious pulled pork mac & cheese. Really, this place is a keeper! Make a reservation though. It was mobbed! read more

Ok; I come here a lot. I love it here. I rarely sit at the bar. I just wanted a glass of wine and a salad to go. I sat and waited and waited and waited. Finally the bartender noticed me after 10minutes when she brought food to the people next to me. I should have left but I stayed. Her name is Beatriz. I'm sure she's a lovely young woman but.... I asked for the check and that took forever. I've worked in restaurants my entire life (I'm 60). Servers need to constantly do rounds to check on their bar. Obviously I'll be back. But I think some employees need a reminder. read more
