If you're anywhere near Detroit Cookie Company, do yourself a favor and stop in. What started as a quick cookie run turned into one of the best bakery visits I've had in a long time. The owner took time to share the story behind the business, explaining how each cookie recipe ties back to Detroit's history and culture. I loved hearing about the creative inspiration behind the menu, especially learning that several cookies feature local Michigan potato chips (one even includes Fritos!) It's clear that every item is thoughtfully designed and tells a story. The fresh cinnamon rolls are apparently legendary, and after hearing how they're made fresh daily and regularly sell out, I completely understand the hype. The cookies themselves were phenomenal and honestly, some of the best I've ever had. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the quality was obvious. Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. The staff was welcoming, passionate, and genuinely excited to talk about their products. The shop was spotless, inviting, and had the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. Delicious cookies! Great service! I've been to the Ferndale location countless times and I am thrilled to have another location just down the street from me. They rotate between special cookies every month or so, but DCC also has original cookies that remain on the menu daily. My favorite has always been the s'mores cookies. Toasty marshmallow goodness on top of a chocolate chip cookie. It never lets me down! They also offer cinnamon rolls every weekend that are equally as delicious. They've been here about 2 years now, but sadly I don't stop in as much as I thought I would. The cookies are delicious, but somehow they all taste similar? The price is higher, the quality is still fresh though. The parking lot is empty more often than not and I wonder how they stay afloat. Stop in here if you'd love to try a delicious sweet treat. I visit this location once a week, typically, it's a good experience. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Today that changed, and now I am unsure of returning to this location. The MOD on duty was very rude when we asked for a simple request and one we have received during past visits. As someone who has visited this location since it opened in SCS. I am not writing this to future customers as you will probably have a good experience, but more to the leadership, if this is a new hire, be mindful, if not, i would worry about other customers being turned off due to a bad attitude. read more

We've been meaning to try this cookie place for a while, and while I'm happy to see cool, small businesses in the neighborhood, I was hoping for more flavor from the cookies themselves. The woman behind the counter couldn't have been nicer, she was very friendly and patient as we picked out a dozen cookies, and the inside is cute. They have a wide selection of cookies, flavors that sounded interesting, and everything was very fresh-tasting, but to be honest, out of all of the dozen cookies, they mostly tasted the same. The flavors sounded more exciting than they actually tasted. Even the cookies with BBQ potato chips crushed up inside tasted like every other cookie from the dozen. And that flavor was just pure sugar in every bite. I was expecting more of a contrast in flavor and texture within each individual cookie too, but because they are those super soft baked cookies, it was just kinda mushy sugar flavor. Unless it had an M & M or something in it, there was no contrast in texture at all. Admittedly, maybe those kinds of cookies just aren't for me. I know some folks like a soft-baked, almost raw texture cookie, but I like a cookie that is slightly crisp on the edges and softer in the middle, with nice browning along the edge and underneath, to give that depth of flavor that these cookies lacked. Further, even with salty mix-ins, there was not enough salt to balance the sugar overload in each bite. They have some good ideas, but it just becomes kind of dull after a few bites. read more

My family is bug fans of the cookies from here. They have such a large variety of unique cookie flavors and are not as massive or sickly sweet as that chain (you know who I'm talking about). The even offer some miscellaneous brownies, cinnamon rolls and ice cream. I personally appreciate that they have a gluten free option that is packages and wrapped separately. So glad this place is near me and I don't have to drive to Ferndale to get delicious cookies. Since they have opened in both locations, I've been a fan. I don't think I had a flavor I didn't like that I have tried. I think the summer/spring flavors are the best, but overall favorites are the Blue Moon and Raspberry Oreo Cheesecake. I don't even like Oreos, but that cookie is divine. These cookies are definitely a once in a a while treat, but worth it. You won't be disappointed. read more

Biggest disappointing cinnamon roll ever! My husband stopped at this location after 3:00 on Saturday and was happy to find they still had cinnamon rolls. What turned out to be exciting quickly became disappointment! We have had cinnamon rolls from Ferndale for years - they were always wonderful. We've gotten them from this location a few times and they were also delicious. The two he bought yesterday were hunks of stale rolls. They were tragically over baked and hard. They had very little filling inside and they did not soften up or ooze even when heated. They seemed like they were left over from last week and not baked this morning. They should have been embarrassed to sell these as they were not up to their usual standards! Too much money for cinnamon rolls we threw away! Krogers we're better than these! read more

And SO many choices of cookies to choose from! We went on Saturday, so I got a chance to get one one of their cinnamon rolls & I'm sure glad I did! I got mine while it was still warm, didn't nibble on it till I got home tho. Loved the 8 Mile Mix, Mad Mix, Browned Butter Pecan & the Peanut Butter Volcano. I agree with Cesca's review from 1 month ago. I bought a dozen of these cookies for a movie night with friends tonight because I didn't have time to bake myself (I consider myself a baker and a foodie of sorts :-)). There were 4 of us and we each tried 1/4 of each of the 12 different flavors. We all said the same thing: The cookies were doughy inside almost like they weren't completely done. The chocolate toffee coffee cookies were stale. Each cookie basically tasted the same even though they were all different flavors. We all felt like they tasted "fake", like it might be possible they contained preservatives. Krumble, Insomnia and Vitos (Italian market-Sterling Heights area) cookies are SO much better. Also, these cookies were super expensive......definitely not worth the price. I gave it one star only because the girl at the counter was sweet and helpful. I won't be coming back. I have sold some of my own cookies for parties around the Holiday season and could taste right away and tell that these cookies were not made with quality ingredients. Too bad.....the flavor "names" are pretty cool....but they just don't measure up. read more
