Up until about 2008 or 2009, Bonus Tire was a great little auto service center. Work was top notch, and staff friendly and accommodating. And they did repairs right. I took my vehicles there all the time for repair work because they were close to home and a good local shop. I don't know what happened, whether there was a management/staff turn-over or something, but service quality dropped noticeably in '08 or '09. Attention to detail became virtually nonexistent and overall quality of diagnosis and repair was not the Bonus Tire I remembered from about 2003 or 2004 when I started taking my cars there. I knew something was wrong when the last two major repairs both had to go to the dealership down the road to correct or even detect (a steering problem that I knew of for 3 years strangely went undetected by Bonus Tire yet the dealership agreed with me and found the problem right away....) AFTER my car had been at Bonus for days or in one case, months. Only when I got sick of waiting and getting no helpful answers whenever I called, and finally asked to take my car back whether it was repaired or not did they miraculously find the part they needed within 2 days. And even then, the repair wasn't done correctly and I ended up having to go to the dealership anyway to correct the overlooked errors. It was almost like Bonus Tire didn't WANT to fix problems anymore, and that distinct lack of give-a-damn was probably what disappointed me the most, more than the amount of money and time I spent. They may still be good enough with routine maintenance jobs, like oil changes, but with something as critical as a commuting vehicle, I can't afford to mess around. I take my vehicles now to the Speedy across the street or to the aforementioned dealership's service department when I want my major repairs done correctly because my confidence in Bonus has been shaken. And that makes me sad because I like to support small local businesses whenever and wherever I can. But if they no longer have the skill or management to do things right the first time (or even the second time; I get it -- cars are complex), I can't take my chances anymore, especially with a vehicle that spends a lot of time on the highway. read more

We've been back here several times for breaks and tires. They do great work and are very honest. They told my wife a few years ago she didn't have to get a new starter even though it sounds horrible because it would probably last a lot longer than the dealership said. It still starts with no issues. He said he would gladly sell her one if she insisted but recommended she save her money. Got a flat tire a few miles down the road and after putting my spare on, continued on my trip and saw bonus tire. Figured I'd just swing in and see if they could patch my tire for me (I was well into a 4000 mile road trip that began in Washington, DC, did NOT want to continue without a spare tire). They quickly took the tire in the back and within a few minutes gave me the bad news: the damage was severe and not repairable. They showed it to me, and sure enough a large gash on the sidewall from a detroit pothole didnt leave much hope for that tire. They checked to see if they had a used tire that would work, found one in great shape and sold it to me at a very reasonable price that included mounting and balancing. Back home in Virginia and the tire is still doing its thing on my car. I am thankful the great folks at Bonus Tire were able to assist me so quickly and honestly. I would not hesitate to use them in the future! (I travel to Sterling Heights a lot!) A+ in my book! read more

The owner is rude and condescending. When I asked him questions about the repairs my car needed, he was so disrespectful. I have never been talked to/treated this way by a business owner in my life. He then told me what he would fix and what was "probably" the problem. He obviously didn't need/want my business so I picked up my car and took it some where else. When I picked it up, I quickly learned that "rude" seems to be the business culture. The woman behind the counter had zero people skills and was snarky with me even though I hadn't even indicated I wasn't going to have them repair the car! Final straw? Paid for a front end alignment that was never done. Was told nothin was wrong and they did the alignment, Picked my car up and it was still pulling the the side. Took it to different shop because I already waited four days at bonus tire for this so called alignment. was told from other shop I needed ball joints and the sway bar link was broke. Other shop said they don't see how anyone could of did alignment on my car with the state the ball joints are in. read more

People must have been reading Yelp reviews. My best kept secret is out and the place is packed with customers. The secret was that I found a great place to get my car fixed. Honest, integrity are just a few ways of describing Mark, the owner. He greets every customer with a smile and a sunny disposition. Today, he went beyond what was expected. We have a 2005 Dodge Caravan. I love that car, but the wipers on it are a pain. They keep slamming into each other and I continuously have to get the wiper blades changed because they get damaged. Hate them. Anyway, my husband explained this problem to Mark. Being the smart man that he is... Mark decided to try something to see if it would work. He put a 28" blade on the driver's side and a 26" blade on the passenger's side and "Voila" ... it was the perfect solution. There is now an extra inch between the blades when we use them and they never slam into each other. read more

They are trully great and honest people. They won't lie to you. If you don't need something fixed and can get by without it, with no risk to your safety they will tell you! I had my struts looked at and they said it needs work but I didn't need to get it repaired. Where most places will convince you that you should. I got an oil change.. and the car feels great! After sending them an email request, I got a quote at lunch time the next day for a set of winter tires. The price was extremely competitive. The staff ordered the tires immediately and got them by the next business day. I dropped off my car at 8 am and everything was done by 9:30 am. These guys are a rip off. I purchased a set of tires from them with a 60,000 warranty. After 400,000 miles the treads were gone. That was with tire rotation every 5,000 miles and alignments every year. When I went back to have the tires looked at the first thing they said, without even looking at the tires, was there was nothing they could do. At most I would have to buy a new set of tires and they could have the old ones sent out but chances of the manufacture covering them was zero. Then they tried to tell me the tires only had a 50,000 mile warranty and who ever wrote 60,000 on my invoice was wrong. After I told them the web site for the tires even showed 60,000 warranty they still said there was nothing they could do. They are great folks for when you purchase the tires but don't stand behind or support what they sell. read more
