I was in the area looking for a quick bit and stumbled upon this restaurant on the main road. There is plenty of parking and inside also has plenty of tables with some booths. Its a low lit place and what you would expect of a tavern. A nice little bar in the back with football games playing. Not too rowdy so i was able to enjoy my meal peacefully! The staff is very friendly and simply suggest to allow to sit wherever you want. I ordered the wings as an app and french onion soup. 10/10 loved the flavor of both and coulda ate double the amount as the full entree! Price is reasonable no complaints but I can see from other reviews its on the borderline of "pricey". Only complaint from me is that usually for the price, these meal include some french fries but the this restaurant opted to include a bag of potato chips. My cheesesteak hoagie was topped with plenty of meat and tomato/onion, unconventional, but i knew what i was ordering. It coulda used a bit more sauciness but overall was a good satisfying meal. Went to Detzi's to grab a cheesesteak and wings which were both suggested to me heavily in the comments of some of my videos. The dining room is plenty large and they had outdoor tables as well. Our server was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. I somehow never got around to writing this review, we were in 2021...eek. I was excited they had Peroni. Solid Italian beer that most places don't carry. It was also around $5 a bottle which isn't bad for import at all. The cheesesteak was not bad, but not great. Large onions just laid on top with American cheese. The roll was unremarkable. I enjoyed the wings but I thought they were heavily overpriced. They have since taken their prices down but a dozen was $17 at the time. It was around a time where there were wing issues as far as distribution, but that was high even for that time. $1.42 per wing is wild. The fries were crisp and tasted good. Not bad, not great. I know a lot of people who absolutely love it here so maybe I'm due to give it another shot and see if this was a day on the lower end of their capabilities. read more

Classic place to hit in this area. They're known for their wings and burgers, so any variation of those are a great choice. This place is more spacious than it looks from the outside. Their outdoor seating has heaters so even as it gets chilly you can comfortably sit outside. We were seated outside right away and as if they read my mind and knew that I was getting chilly, they came over and turned on the closest heater without me even asking. Started with an order of onion rings, two orders of fries and mozzarella sticks. All of these appetizers came out quick and hot. Everything was delicious and crispy. Located in Wind Gap originally settled by Dutch and German immigrants, "Die Wind Kapf", this Slate Belt landmark establishment has been here since 1960 off of Route 512. Formerly a family business, Detzi's Tavern is now under a new owner. It's a basic local sports bar and restaurant, accommodated by surrounded TVs serving comfort food. Upon entering without reservation, local sports history is displayed throughout the two dining rooms, with plenty of tables filled with patrons. There's also outdoor patio seating available when the weather is agreeable. Despite a short wait, my partner, his family and I were seated at a table for four. There was a nice variety on the menu, consisting of burgers, wraps, salads, cheesesteaks, wings, pizza, and entrees. A separate menu featured the specials of the day. We decided on Veggie Wrap, California Burger, Black Bean Chipotle Burger, and Trattoria Burger. As a side, we ordered the sweet potato fries and onion rings. All entrees were well prepared, tasty, and of nice size. It can get very busy and noisy, but it is a sports bar after all. We can continue to recommend this place. read more

Stopped for early dinner. My husband got spaghetti and meatballs. Salad was incredible, his entree was good. I ordered the roast beef dinner. DON'T ever order it, was totally awful. Paper thin pieces of beef that was probably heated under a broiler turning them totally dry and tough as leather. Had gravy that tasted good but had black chunks of undissolved gravy maker in it. Place is about as mediocre as you can get in a area that lacks real sit down restaurants. Anything that isn't from a fryer that's hard to mess up is a pass. The pizza is especially awful, you would assume a place like this would be sell personal sized bar pies, but they have an entire menu page dedicated to pizza so you would assume it might be halfway decent, instead it's a greasy mess, complete with halfway cooked flour under ever slice, a sauce that's obviously from a can and a crust so hard it's not even edible. They would be better off just dropping pizza from the menu. The only thing stopping this place from getting 1 star is the servers are always pleasant. read more

Detzi-licious!!!!! A definite local vibe potentiates this family owned establishment. We sat at the bar, and was immediately welcomed by Joe who remained attentive, friendly, & efficient. The food was as good as the service. We had their "award winning" wings extra crispy....the award was well deserved. An honorable mention was the special app of the day... roasted garlic platter ... phenomenal!!! Then we shared the chicken cheese steak hoagie. It was spot on. Food is good bar food, the Buffalo Chicken CheeseSteak is excellent. I like the hometown pub atmosphere and service is good. I thought the quality of the Turkey on the club was lower grade. The main problem is the place is very pricey. Sandwiches are $10 to 12 dollars, wings $20 a dozen but I have never seen anywhere a $4.50 charge for a side of fries with a sandwich. I ordered a sandwich, fries and a beer for lunch and it was $30 with tip. I get inflation but gauging customers on potatoes that cost 30 cents a pound? read more

Detzi's is your typical American pub. VERY average food with ok to decent service, and it's a local hangout. They make a good burger and fries, but that's about it. The Bangor/Slate Belt area leaves a lot to be desired as far as restaurants are concerned. I visit and stay in the area on a weekly basis, and I think Detzi's is one of the better places to eat; although, it's still only average, so not saying much there. American pubs in the neighboring areas of Easton and Bethlehem are generally better in terms of the quality and range of food they have to offer. read more

I have been going to this tavern for at least ten years, usually on a Wednesday. Why? Because it's wing night in which wings are discounted and you have a choice of over 7 different sauces. Now on Fridays they offer the best flat bread I've ever had. The servers are polite and competent. They have fantastic pictures of sports stars on the walls, three huge tv sets. My wife and I were here for dinner on our way back home from the Poconos. This was relatively close to Tolino Vineyard that we had visited earlier in the afternoon and when we asked the staff for what places would be close by, this was one of the places that they suggested and looking at the great reviews we came here. The place was relatively easy to locate from a moving car - certainly a positive. During our meal here, we found the staff to be friendly but as far as the food itself was concerned, it wasn't anything that would stand out. My wife got a Trattoria burger with a turkey patty and I got the steamed clams and Shrimp-in-the-Basket. They were all reasonably well prepared but is nothing that we would categorically remember for being great. In terms of things that could have been better, something that seems a bit odd in hindsight is that while all dinners come with a house salad and dinner rolls, I don't recall having received dinner rolls with our meal. Also, while our server was friendly, we didn't get our waters refilled and the check did take quite a bit longer to come out that what we would have liked. We had an infant with us and were getting a bit antsy and wanted to leave as soon as we were done with our food, but it took us some signaling to the other servers before we could get our checks. To wrap up, while there was no major negative and the atmosphere at the place was very relaxed and friendly, in my view this isn't a place which is worth much of a detour. I wouldn't hesitate to stop by this place if I was in the area and getting hungry but if that wasn't the case, I would try my chances elsewhere. read more

This is the THIRD time ordering from this place because it's local and convenient. The first time I ordered a Cobb salad and said several times no blue cheese because I'm allergic and they put blue cheese in anyway. I kept giving them a shot because like I said there's really no where else to order from around me. But now I've had enough.
