I was really excited to try this place in the Veranda since I've always seen long lines out the door. Their ice cream is more a soft serve style, and the flavors are pretty average. The only thing that was disappointing was that they don't really fill the cup. In this picture it looks like a decent amount, but once we took one bite, we noticed the inside was completely hollow, leaving us with only a few more bites till it was finished. When we went up to one of the staff members (who ended up being the manager) who said "this is how it comes." Finally made it here to try out their popular black sugar fresh milk tea while strolling through the Veranda one evening. The space is a total photo op dream! Super colorful with fun quotes on the wall. Every accent wall poses as the perfect backdrop for pictures. This place specializes in ube soft serve and black sugar milk teas. I haven't tried the ube soft serve, but people were lining up for it when I came in. Ordered the black sugar fresh milk tea, and while the flavor was good, I found it to be way too sweet. I usually like my milk teas on the sweeter side, but this was overkill. Also, the cashier that rang me up didn't ask me what size that I wanted, the sweetness level, or if I wanted boba or not. This was my first time here, and I had no clue that any of these things could be adjusted until after I got my receipt and overheard another customer behind me specify these things. Make sure to specify what size you want and if you want boba. I couldn't believe that she didn't ask me any of this. It's kind of like a common courtesy, especially for people who've never been there before. Maybe I should have been proactive and asked, but still. And by the way, this place isn't cheap by any means. You're looking at a $7 milk tea without any additional add-ons. I know it's more of a fancier milk tea, but that's just too pricey for everyday. There is no denying these drinks are made to perfection. This was my first visit ever here but I've had boba many times. I saw the Dubai chocolate sign upon entering and after viewing their menu saw they had several Dubai flavored drinks. I was so excited since this is a very trending flavor right now and I looooovve pistachio. I walked up to the cashier. I ordered the cracking Dubai chocolate drink. I also asked if there was sugar free drinks, the cashier said no. My husband needs a sugar free drink. My husband then asked for ice water, the cashier said no it wasn't something they had to offer. I asked if he could accommodate and if there was a manger I could speak to since there was no sugar free drinks. He said no again and that the manger was on break and proceeded to point outside. Ok, not a problem. I continued with the rest of my order as my daughter got a drink and their candy coated fruit stick thingys. I completed my transaction. I then looked over and saw they sold water bottles for 2$. As i noticed this the girl making the drinks (I asked for her name later, her name was Mara) reminded the cashier (forgot his name already but nice young black gentleman) that there was no more pistachio for the drinks. The cashier handed me a $1 bill as the Dubai chocolate is and extra dollar. I asked him why he didn't suggest a water bottle when I asked for ice water? He just kinda shrugged his shoulders and didn't say anything. I stood there and waited. He kinda just stood there uncomfortably until I then asked "so do I just wait here for my drinks? I've never been here." He pointed to the far counter where the glass display was and said they would come out over there. I walked over and got my drink. I explained to Mara that I was frustrated the cashier didn't offer me the water bottle when I asked for the ice water as an alternative. Asked if I just wanted one and She gave me a water bottle. My family sat with our friends and we enjoyed the seating area. It was busy but a fun experience. There is a Photo Booth in the dining area. As we are sitting there my husband noticed several people with the Dubai drink that they had advertised. He asked one of them if the drink they had was the Dubai chocolate. It in fact was. After I drank the strawberry drink I got instead because they were out I walked up to the cashier and asked if the manger came back yet. They then told me they were off that day. I said wait a minute the cashier I had said the manager was on a break. Mara said yes, today was their break. I explained to her that it was completely unacceptable. The kind of Customer Service I received today that I did not think it was fair that I wasn't able to get the Dubai chocolate. She then communicated that there was a post at the register that said there was no pistachio And that's what everybody assumed until after I got my drink, they found some. I asked her if there was a shift leader I could speak to and she said no that there was nobody there like that. I then asked why I had that experience, I asked if it was because I was older than most of the people that were in there. I'm only 41 but many teenagers and young adults were there enjoying the space. I spoke to the employees and asked for the managers name and number. They made an excuse as to why they wouldn't and couldn't give it to me the managers name or number. They said that the manager gets LOTS OF SPAM and doesn't like them to give it out. They asked me to give them my name and number and the manager would call them back. I said no, I'm not giving them that information just so that some random people can call me pretending to be the manager as they would not give me their name even. I told them it wasn't fair that they are making these amazing and delicious drinks and they had no shift leader or manager on sight to help lead the team in keeping them organized. But clearly I have been young with a job such as this, clearly they are avoiding and dodging me having the conversation with the manger about my experience. This isn't a new tactic guys. My strawberry frap was super yummy even still. I just wish it would have went I whole lot differently. I won't be returning as I can get boba anywhere. Well who knows that chocolate was fun to crack inside the cup. I hope they figure it out. Oh and they did offer to make me a new drink with the pistachio but by that time I finished the strawberry one they originally made as my replacement before i discovered they in fact had the pistachio. I first came on a Monday night after finding out about this place through Doordash when it suggested some new places to try. They close at 9pm though so be sure to get there on time. My friends ordered the swirl ice cream with two taiyaki cones and fruity pebbles, and I had a Black Sugar Royal Milk Tea with boba - thankfully they have have an option to use Almond Milk! I enjoyed my drink and wished I actually ordered a larger size. Their current Yelp check-in offer is 5% off your order if you're a new customer so I'd suggest taking advantage of that while it lasts! My only complaint is that i wish they were louder and more verbal about which order belongs to who - they lost the ticket for my friends' order and weren't calling out numbers for it since they didn't know it, come to find out it was their ice cream order that was sitting on the counter for five minutes or so just melting. A little confusing, but I'm sure it doesn't happen often. I'd also like to add, pick up your ice cream where it says ice cream pick up, but if you order a drink you have to pick that up at the counter closer to the front of the store. My second time here and this time I wanted to try the milk teas specifically! I saw on their menu that they make dalgona milk teas in a few different flavors which looked so cool and unique! I got #5 which was Taro peach dalgona milk tea and I ordered #4 which was the dalgona royal milk tea for my sister. Both added boba and in the large cup. I checked in on Yelp and got 5% off my total order! Don't forget to check in for the discount! :) Taro Peach milk tea with freeze dried dalgona bits on top ($6.95): this was in the size large and I liked the first sip I took! It was sweet and the brown sugar boba was chewy and sweet just the way I like it! I thought this would be a coffee drink but after the first sip, I didn't taste coffee so I was happy. I'm not a coffee drinker and not a huge fan of the taste. I could taste the taro and hints of peach from the peach bits in the drink. The peaches tasted like canned peach so would've been nice if they opted for fresh peach for the price of the drink, but not a huge deal breaker. This drink will for sure be too sweet for most people, but I don't know if you can adjust the sweetness. Very attractive store front and a great location. Everything was clearly marked and was simple to order. Due to COVID the indoor seating was closed and they utilized part of the store as storage for their inventory. While the place is Instagram worthy, the boba milk tea I had was not to my liking. I ordered the Royal Milk tea with boba with whole milk 100% sweetness and with no ice. Compared to other boba places, the boba tasted undercooked as the middle was still somewhat firm. The tea they used must be jasmine based because it had a very floral aroma and taste. While I'm sure others may like this taste/flavor, it wasn't for me. I'm an old fashioned black tea with milk boba kinda guy. I will go back and try the soft serve as it looked tasty. Maybe that will be a bit for me. Devil & Angel Ice Cream is located in the veranda very close to the theater with tons of parking. However, it's a busy plaza so you might have to park a bit away. I absolutely loved their signage for Covid-19 safety restrictions and very clear guidelines. Everyone wore masks and it made it comfortable to grab some sweets and relax. Their menu is visual and super helpful for making the perfect treat for you! I loved the Angel's Ice Cream Cone with the adorable fish cone. That cone is so fluffy and buttery! The ice cream was ultra creamy and flavorful. Ube and pistachio mix was delicious and the fruity cereal topping added a nice crunch. My friends and I randomly stumbled into Devil & Angel after leaving Barnes and Nobles and decided to give it a try. We had just finished some KBBQ but wanted to try their ube ice cream. We ordered three angel's cones with ube ice cream. One of them had no filling, one had red bean filling, and the third had strawberry cream cheese. They were all absolutely delicious and we loved the taiyaki. The taste of it sort of reminded me of an Eggo waffle but it paired perfectly with the ube ice cream. I honestly would've been happy with just the taiyaki alone. My only issue with it was that it is a bit pricey considering the portion size, but I would still return for more. My boyfriend and I also decided to share a black sugar royal milk tea with boba. I didn't like it too much and we both agreed that we'd rather get boba elsewhere. As a Filipino, I can honestly say that the ube-milk swirl here is one of my most favorite! If anything, I'm very impressed with Devil & Angel -- the menu has a lot of personality! I thought that just by looking at the pictures, many of the treats here would be super sweet (but I've been proven wrong -- it's just right)! I personally think that that the Angel cone is an incredible deal! Delicious soft serve with some extra toppings? LOVE IT. It's a wonderful choice and affordable as well! The shop's ambience is bright, welcoming, and of course a good catch for Instagrammable photos. The staff work quickly and efficiently, and are super friendly. I feel like this place was not so great. Their drinks were so sweet and the flavors tasted very artificial. Not fresh at all. My SO and I got their thai tea and royal milk tea. The thai tea tasted off, not the best. It was too sweet and my husband mentioned that he had bit on some sugar. In the cup, I noticed Dalgona, but we didn't order it. We asked them if they could do anything about the sweetness, they just poured some of the drink out and diluted it with more milk, but left a big hole on the lid. Need to mention, when we ordered, there was no option to change the sweet level. My royal milk tea was just tooo sweet. My husband and I couldn't finish our drink after two or three sips. We also tried their soft serve as they had an interesting combo of ube and pistachio. The flavors were ok, but the ube was too overpowering. It wasn't that soft. Pretty icy. What got to me was that, they didn't have a cone wrap to hold the ice cream to prevent dripping. I had to grab a whole bunch of napkins to make up for it. After attending my best friend's funeral, we needed a temporary fix to cheer us up. I love the super cute decor inside the creamery. Being that this location is in the beautiful Veranda, surrounded by other restaurants, you would expect the lines to be extra long. That wasn't the case at all. But then again, we were here on a Thursday afternoon. You get to choose your topping. I ordered the Ube and milk ice cream sundae with the biscuits, boba, and fruity pebbles. The biscuits reminded me of cookies and cream pocky sticks (which is normally found at the Asian markets). Our order didn't take long at all and we were able to find outdoor seating in front of the creamery. Highly recommended whenever you're in Concord! read more
