Devil's Club beers were enthusiastically recommended from our bartender at Alaskan Fish & Chip Co. We grabbed the Signature IPA and a Belgian strong golden. The latter was good the former was Fantastic. Very hoppy, very fresh very technically sound. Beer Snob here, impressed. I sampled a couple more while having a solid chat with the beer tender. Chose a hazy ipa which they pulled off well. There was a coffee stout which is like batting 4 for 4 so I'm super pumped. Nice taproom. a bunch a wood tables. Nice menu board. Clean restrooms. Merch. I can say the visit was a pleasure. The staff was friendly as well as on point. The prices are okay but the quality is good. The lite wood on the walls from recycled pallets gives a nice feel as well as bringing the room. The Cubano is on point and well made but the slaw just isn't my cup of tea. The slaw is not too wet or dry and the ingredients were fresh. The salmon plate is where things drifted a bit. The salmon spread is nice and lite in flavor with ritz crackers to pair. The salmon in the can is good but why the mountain of pickles? The salmon already has a salty end and by pairing this with pickles it will wreck your palate. I would suggest rethinking the pairing and giving something that brings the taste buds back to neutral with a variety of more than a salty ending. Two words... palate cleanse. read more

What a great place! We had Gabe and Jack as our bartenders, they were very knowledgeable and helped us pick the right beers to try try out. We even bought merchandise because we love breweries. The beer and the atmosphere were quite pleasant. The bathrooms were kept clean and the restaurant was very clean as well. Which is very unusual since breweries are pretty messy. These guys were completely badass and should be promoted. Here is a couple of things for visitors like me. Please order yourself some Tin Tackers so your customers can a piece of you home with them. Your shirt selection needs more attention due to missing sizes. Highly suggest this place. If you attend this part of Alaska then I suggest you attend this place one hundred percent. Another stop in Juneau after a day of cruising. Again, cruise ship eating experience: once you get into port, the idea of actually eating something more is a little too much. (Honestly, the same with drinking something, but you can rationalize it with "But this is a microbrew...") Definitely recommend this one, although (rather unusually) their flights were 3 beers. Had the cocomocho, the silt stout, and the jellyfish. The jellyfish was probably the least of the lot. A bit of tang (it's essentially a fruit beer, and what was nice about this is that it had a bit of tang, as opposed to the more generalized sense of sweetness that you get with a lot of the berry-styles). The silt stout was good, but the definite hit was the cocomocho. A bit sweet, a bit dark, and in general everything I'm looking for in a dark beer. read more

We walked past the jam-packed Red Dog another block or two and found this amazing local brewery.... they've got the best grilled cheese sandwich you'll have in your life ($12), and lots of beverages to choose from (both alcoholic and non). We got a Thai Iced Tea and a Rootbeer to try, as well as a flight of 3 of their local brews to go with our lunch. Super relaxed atmosphere, no busy crowds to deal with, and amazing food and drink. Great beer with plenty of indoor space to chill. Flight options so you don't even have to make any hard decisions. Although the best thing on the menu is the Nitro Thai iced tea IMHO. Don't ignore the no -alcoholic menu. That Thai iced tea is not to be missed! Light and refreshing, a little sweet, slightly creamy, entirely dreamy. I downed two in like 20 minutes and can't wait to return another one before I head back home to Texas. They have an upstairs area with all their taps plus food (sandwiches were great!) as well as a quieter downstairs area with a smaller selection of taps and no food service (but, you can bring food down - just ask for a beeper instead of a table flag before you start ordering). So I think this is actually my very last review from our Alaska trip last year, a place we visited, at this point, about 9 months ago. We were *originally* scheduled to leave, for our first Alaska cruise ever, in the summer of 2020, but well, it was a cruise, and presumably everyone remembers what happened in 2020. Well, I'm a huge beer nerd and a huge planner, so I'd been looking forward to trying the beer here since 2019, haha. It definitely actually did live up to the expectation, too! They had a sign up with the price for 3 tasters, but I asked and they could definitely add a 4th, which was good, cause at the time, there were four on the list I really wanted to try - 3 sours and a pastry stout, my two favorite beer styles. (Though I'm sure the specific beers have changed numerous times since, seems like that sort of place.) Totally reasonably priced for the quality and craft that went into them - and, in the case of one of the sours, *time* (one of them was aged for 18 months). All three of the sours I tried were wonderful (at the time, a guava sour, the extra-aged one, and a "milkshake sour ipa", cause they get that beer nerds love weird beer experiments, haha.) And the pastry stout, designed to replicate a hazelnut macaroon, beat the pants off the also-pretty-good similar beer a local brewery makes. Just incredibly balanced, the sort of beer, despite being pretty sweet, I *could* drink all afternoon without feeling gross after. Again, I'm sure all those specific beers are long-gone, but given all four I tried were great, I'm sure their current beers are, too. They also had plenty of seating and no waiting to order (despite it being a cruise day, obviously, so the town was full of tourists like me.) My only complaint about the space was, we just happened to be there on a day all the locals were commenting constantly was "unseasonably warm", and it's Alaska, so they didn't have AC. So it was pretty warm - but I have a feeling that's not a problem most of the time. read more

My hubby had the cubano, I split the grilled cheese with a friend and we also shared the bratwurst board and pretzels with cheese. Yummy! After walking around we stopped by for drinks , on the beers we tried Tube creek , prime time , couch beach , convict soirée they seem to change the beers these were the ones available all were pretty decent. They had a limited food menu, we got some popcorn which was good , the Pretzel bites were great with the dipping cheese sauce nice & warm too very good & my friend had the pickles, she enjoyed it. You are limited to 3 drinks per person not sure if this is always or it changes? but it was the case when we visited. In port from a cruise ship and wanted to try local craft beer and Devil's Club, a very old and small converted movie theater, didn't disappoint. They also serve appetizers and sandwiches, but we didn't partake because after all, we just stepped of a cruise ship. I started with a flight of beer (choice of 3 beers, 4 oz each), their Signature IPA, Board Walker Belgian Ale, and Cocoroon, an imperial dessert stout. I enjoyed all three, but Cocoroon was by far my favorite, a wonderful dessert stout brewed with coconut & hazelnut. In fact, I liked it so much I had a 10 oz glass for my second round before heading back to the ship because we were only in port for a few short hours. Devil's Club was another brewery we went to when we were in Juneau. I believe the name comes from a flowering plant called the Devil's Club in the Juneau area. Steve and I kind of had trouble deciding what we wanted to have at this brewery. We don't often run into this dilemma but when we do it's time to get a flight of beer so you can try a little bit of everything. We tried various beers from the taster flight and enjoyed it fairly well but no beer particularly stuck with me to pursue for a pint of. The brewery goes for a different kind of beer from our observations than other breweries in town. They kind of have a farmhouse spin to them when I think about it. While preparing this review I see that they have a carrot ginger sour beer which would have immediately gotten my attention since I don't believe I've had a beer involving carrots and if I was in Juneau at the time (which would be at this present time) I would definitely pursue it! read more

I've never been lucky enough to be there on pizza night, so I can't speak to that, but the rest of the food and snacks are fantastic (try the popcorn with yeast!) and the beer is always superb. In my opinion, being a lover of IPA's, the Devil's Club IPA is in the top three I've ever had. Lunch was great! We went here on a suggestion from the locals. They have a limited menu because it's a Brewery, we were so tempted to get a beer, but it was a businees lunch, darn! You walk up to a counter place your order, then they give you a number and bring your food out. They have a small menu, with limited shareable plates and a few sandwiches. I got the Cubano served with a Basalmic side salad and both were delicious. It was on an authentic Cuban bread, which drew me in immediately! Others got the All Cheese Grilled Cheese with a side of Beer Cheese. She loved it! LOADED with CHEESE! My coworker was stuffed with no room for diner LOL! She had us all drooling. The other 2 ladies got the Gyroscope, which looked amazing and overflowing with goodness, served with tortilla chips and a kelp salsa and the World Famous Pesto Chibatta, the Chibatta is her favorite sandwich, which is why she recommended this place. Got to come back with Richard when he tags along on one of my trips to sample their beers. We saw so many tables with the beer flights. We try to stop at all the breweries we can find in the ports we visit. Devils Club was about 50 yards off the beaten tourist path. The vibe is good and they have a good selection of beer. If you want something else like wine you're out of luck. We learned that breweries can only sell what they make so most do not make wine! For food we ordered pretzel and cheese for a quick bite. It was very good and seemed the most popular appetizer from scanning other tables. If your in Juneau Devils Club is worth a visit. read more
