I live in the neighborhood and was excited when Devrim's opened up. Happy to say that it is a great place for dry cleaning services and basic tailoring needs. I agree with others that Figo is a wonderful person and really tries hard to keep his customers happy. Go in a few times and everyone there remembers you and your laundry ticket is no longer necessary. I never remember to bring mine but as soon as I walk in they start going to the racks to retrieve my clothes. Figo might be the nicest/craziest human being on the planet, so for sheer entertainment value (and who doesn't want to be entertained when dropping off/picking up dry cleaning?), this place is great. However, if you are surly and don't want to have a conversation with a genuinely nice man, you might want to go somewhere else for your dry cleaning endeavors. My only negatives are that it's a bit pricey ($20 for a coat, $18 to fix the hem/clean a suit), and takes a few days to get your clothes (they don't actually clean the clothes at this location). However, it hasn't deterred me from continuing to take my clothes to this location. read more

I have lived in the 'hood for 7 years now. I was happy to see Figo open up only a block away from me. Which is good because when I get off my lazy ass and bring my shirts to him, the minimum is usually 15 or 20. And I always take the good natured ribbing from him for that. I told him that he should have a t-shirt ready for me and I'll just come straight from the train and drop off that day's shirt and pick up tomorrow's. It's a flawless plan and he's down with it. Now if I could only bring that t-shirt to him. All kidding aside, he provides a great service as does his wife. Wait, that didn't come out right. You know what I mean... Really, all kidding aside, this is a wonderful place to go. Prices are prices. It's a business, get over it. The only way it gets better is if they delivered to my closet, But then I'd have to give them a key. It's only been a few years, the trust has to build. I had a bridesmaid dress that was so ridiculously made the entire bodice needed to be taken apart to take in EACH seam. I took it in to Figo, who assured me he'd do a better job altering it than the bridal shop that sold me the dress. He was so sweet when I was there.... introducing me to everyone who came in. He took his time to make sure it was pinned right..... lots of examining and thinking to figure out his best course of action. I brought the dress in the beginning of the month, needing it for the wedding only 3 and a half weeks later. He got it done with plenty of time in case it needed tweaking (of course it didn't because he did a PERFECT job). I was so pleased with the way my dress felt when he was done. And I really enjoyed being treated like a long-time loyal customer. It was my first experience here (recommended to me by a friend). Now I will be a loyal customer!!! read more

My wedding dress alterations done by Figo were FANTASTIC! Seriously. I had less than three weeks until my wedding and the dress that I had bought over a year ago had been butchered by the alterations department at retail bridal store where I had purchased it. Long story short, it was rendered unfixable. In a state of panic, I was lucky enough to find another dress off of overstock.com that was still within my budget. The problem; however, was that it still needed to be altered (too long, too big in places). Many alterations places said that just over two weeks was not enough time to allow for the alterations. Figo at Devrim cleaners said they would be able to do it. Not only did he do a great job, but he had it in two days early, which was such a relief since I had been pretty worried that something would go wrong. My dress fit PERFECTLY, and you would never know that I had alterations done (no visible seams, clean even hems). I recommend this place to anyone in need of good alterations. In addition to the great work, Figo is very friendly and personable. I will honestly never go anywhere else for alterations. read more

Figo is a character for sure, and they clean things just fine. However, pricing is very high and inconsistent. The costs here is about twice as high as expected or is customary at other cleaners. When you ask, the price you get depends on when you ask - and you'll likely pay a different amount anyway. I don't know why everyone jumps up and down with accolades for this place. Their prices seem to change every time I go in there, and there is no price list posted in the store. I bring my husband's dry cleaning in about every 3 weeks, and it's usually about 20 shirts and 5-7 pairs of pants. When I pick it up, I'm given a total, and then usually ask how much each piece cost and I swear, I'm given that 'doggie head tilt' from the woman, as if to ask, 'why do you want to know?' Then it takes her a minute or two to reconstruct on a calculator the amount she just gave to me. What usually winds up happening is they've dry cleaned a few shirts (at 4.50, or 4.75 a pop, depending on the day) instead of laundering them at 1.75 each.... So, now when I bring in shirts, I have them launder everything - and I still seem to get an amount that doesn't seem to add up. Oh, and I brought my daughter's uniform skirt in to have 2 buttons moved and they wanted to charge me $15 - when I laughed and said it was too expensive, they lowered the price to $10. And this was after I pointed out to them the hem they had sewn in the skirt had fallen out after only a few months. The only plus for this place for me is its location. However, I'm happy to drive somewhere else to get better prices that don't change visit to visit. read more

If you need your clothes cleaned, pressed and tailored there is no better business than DeVrim. Figo is one of the warmest shop owners that I've come across in this city. It took him less than 2 of my loads to learn my name by heart. I'm extremely happy with the job they do. I work on Southport and live in Albany Park. Sometimes I'll have him take my clothes on Rockwell and have them dropped off at the other location on Southport. He doesn't charge extra for fast service either. I would recommend this place to anyone in the city. Definitely worth your time and money! read more

I've been to a few different dry cleaners in the area and this is BY FAR the best. The owners are so friendly and professional, they actually take pride in what they do! So, it goes without saying that when we moved and it was no longer the most convenient cleaner to us, I was a bit sad. I took my husband's shirts to a cleaner near our new place and it's sort of hit and miss. The new place isn't consistent with starch (sometimes your shirts will stand on their own, sometimes they look like they just came out of the dryer in your apartment) and the new place left some weird gunk of two of my husband's shirts, the trouble is that he wore one before he noticed it (it was on the back) so I took them in to be re-cleaned and pointed it out and they actually charged me for the shirt my husband wore even though it had gunk on it because, technically, he wore it! That would NEVER happen at Devrim! Devrim would have apologized and fixed it up especially well and given me a tootsie roll and a smile! They're worth going a little out of your way if you have to, they are simply the BEST cleaners in the neighborhood! read more

I had a pocket re-sewn and two waist length wool coats cleaned for a cool 49.50. They may be nice and bend over backwards to please some people, but for their prices, they should be! read more

Devrim and owner Figo are awesome. We found out about Devrim when we needed a last-minute alteration to a dress. Figo came through and it was clear that he cares about his customers and has a great attention to detail. Since then, we've been taking all of our dry cleaning here. I virtually NEVER complain online. I have a Yelp account, literally never use it, but this experience just has to be shared. I generally don't make time to write or state complaints about things that don't matter. BUT this morning, my boyfriend & I attempted to drop off 2 jackets & 1 hat here. "Have you been here before," the man at the counter asked us. We told him we had not been there before, although we have been to other dry cleaners in the past. He proceeds to tell us that the hat will cost $85 to clean. That seemed pretty ridiculously steep for a hat that was nowhere near worth that much money, so we decided to skip it & asked how much to dry clean each jacket. "$75." We both gasped as this is by far the most expensive dry cleaning quote we've EVER heard of. He then proceeds to rather snarkily say, "We don't do bulk laundry here." We promptly left after that uncomfortable interaction, deciding against dry cleaning at this place, & were thoroughly shocked at how rude the experience was & how insane the cost was going to be for dry cleaning 3 simple items that have hardly been worn. We used to go to a New Kedzie Cleaners at Armitage & Kedzie when that was our local dry cleaner & spend $5 - $7 to dry clean individual items. In Wilmette, where my boyfriend works, we've paid around $11 to dry clean individual items. So I am genuinely curious, HOW ON EARTH DOES THIS PLACE CHARGE $75 - $85 TO DRY CLEAN INDIVIDUAL ITEMS, BE RUDE TO THEIR [POTENTIAL] CUSTOMERS, & MANAGE TO STAY IN BUSINESS?!?!?!? Seriously, do we get a bag of coke with each item we bring in for dry cleaning??? If you're spending that much money on dry cleaning, let me please recommend driving or Uber-ing a few miles south to New Kedzie Cleaners at Armitage & Kedzie, where you can get your clothing perfectly dry cleaned in an EXTREMELY friendly, hospitable environment for virtually next to nothing. I felt so unwelcome, uncared for, & just completely foolish for even trying to walk into Devrim Cleaners & inquire about a very standard, simple service. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!! read more

although, the bill can get up there - I don't mind paying for piece of mind. They're such sweet people and give great advice about caring for your clothes. If an item needs a little more attention and isn't with your finished order, they'll fix it without an extra charge. I've been going here for a little over 2 years, and I they're excellent with alterations, dry cleaning, and laundering. Believe me, I've had my share of bad experiences with cleaners, but @ DevRim they've always remembered my face and gone above and beyond to take care of me -my dog loves the milk bones too. I want to like this place because the proprietor is so friendly, but my last experience was pretty horrible. I dropped off a dress on a Wednesday to be altered for a wedding, and was told it would be ready a week from the following Friday - I made it clear I would be picking it up in the morning and heading out of town, and I was assured it would be ready. She even told me I could pick it up Thursday evening. She estimated the cost as $25. When I came to pick it up around noon on the designated day, she couldnt find it. She finally called Figo at his other location, and told me it wasnt ready yet. I left town without the dress, picked it up today, and they initially tried to charge be $35. When I said I had been quoted $25, Figo waved his arm and said, "ok, 25". The pricing seems completely arbitrary! I would respect them more if they could back up their pricing at all - like if he had said, the charge is 35 and this is why...it would have made me more comfortable than him just waving it off. To top it all off, the dress doesnt fit after the alteration. I will not be returning to Devrim, and no amount of Figo's flattery will change that. read more
