My husband and I were experiencing an issue with fleas in our house just before the July 4th weekend. We tried some over the counter methods of eradication before I suggested we get help from a professional pest control company. What made this situation even more frustrating is that we don't have pets ourselves but neighbors a few doors away are feeding pets that wander onto to our property and like to sun themselves on our porch area. We figured the fleas traveled into our house by jumping on our clothing as we entered from our porch area. There was also an uptick in the flea population in general due to the very hot July weather. I made an appointment with Dewey Pest Control in Windsor Hills; Ken came to inspect and we set an appointment for him to return. There was a mix up when he arrived for the first eradication appointment--my husband was waiting for him but didn't hear the doorbell. Not Dewey's fault, though--Ken offered to come the very next day and start very early in the morning which he did. The eradication started with spraying the perimeter of the house, yard, deck, entrance stairs, porches and even under the house to insure there were no sources of infestation. The spraying continued inside the house at the baseboards and rugs-every corner. Ken returned to follow-up and inspect results of the eradication effort as well as stated in the contract. I'm happy to say the fleas are finally gone. I'd recommend Dewey Pest Control and Ken again. read more

At the recommendation of neighbors we hired Dewey for a big rat and mouse problem, and Eric Merlos came out to service the house. He is courteous, efficient, and takes pride in his work. I would not recommend using this company for any reason. They told me I had subterranean termites and bed bugs. I paid $250 to have brown recluse spiders exterminated outside my house. I paid $2500.00 to have my home treated for subterranean termites by having chemicals shot into the ground around my home, and eventually having my home tented. On 9/28/18 I gave this company the keys to my home so that it could be tented. They hired a sub-contractor named Mega Fume. My house is very small and the original quote was for $2,400.00 and included my garage. When I finalized the service the price was $2,500.00 and did not include the garage. I received a call on 10/1/18 at 8:30 a.m. in the morning informing that there had been a break in. I was scheduled to return home at 12:00 p.m. not 8:30 a.m. and when I was finally able to arrive at 10:15 a.m. I found my house abandoned, my windows and doors open, and my keys taped to the kitchen counter. No one would come from either Dewey or Mega Fume. All they would say is pay my bill and call the sheriffs department. They have refused to give any information to help with the investigation. No one from their corporate office has called me to discuss the issue and as far as they are concerned it is not their problem. I still have bed bugs in my home, and ants outside my home and around my door. I spent around $3,000.00 and the only thing I got for my money is my home robbed, and no help in trying to find out when or how it happened. I strongly believe this company or its subcontractor are responsible for the break in and that is why they are not cooperating with the investigation. I met Eric Merlos yesterday for the first time and was immediately impressed by how professional and friendly he was. I could tell he was a bit tired and had a long day but, nevertheless, he gave me time to explain all my concerns and did not rush me off. He went above and beyond to investigate a possible rodent infestation problem, took his time to look everywhere inside and outside of the condo. Climbed into the basement that was a good hike around the condo complex. All of this while being cheerful, enthusiastic and very informative. Very excellent experience with Eric! I live in a condo building in Westchester and we have had an ant problem since the day we moved in. Eric began working in our building a couple months ago and after more than a year of dealing with ants and assuming it was normal because of construction nearby, he found the nests and exterminated them. Brian Herstine, the manager worked to make things right and regained my trust and loyalty. I had subterranean termites about 3 years ago and had a Dewey take care of the problem for me. Anthony came and did the work and I was very happy with the fantastic level of customer service and knowledge that Anthony Raya possessed. Fast forward 3 years later. I was cleaning out my closet and noticed subterranean termite tubes inside the closet. I called Dewey and asked them to come out again to do an inspection to make sure that I don't have a new infestation (unfortunately Anthony Raya was no longer there so they were going to send out another person). They sent out a "Pest Management Specialist" named Jeremiah Jaramillo. He came out and performed an inspection. I explained to him that I had termites 3 years ago and it was in the crawlspace under the house, just below the bathroom. I said the tube I saw in the closet may be a remnant from the infestation I had 3 years ago. I asked him to do a through check by going under the house and see if we have an active live termite colony. I asked him several questions about the infestation, the chemicals that were used for treatment, and how long it should last. He was very evasive. Now I my trust level is falling fast. My thoughts were this: the area was treated about 3 years ago, so the chemical called Thermidor should still be active (it supposedly lasts 5 years), The chemicals were put under the house in the crawlspace so it couldn't have been washed away by rain or water, when I broke the termite tubes no live termites crawled out, I didn't want to spend more money to treat if there is no live termite infestation. This is what got me so angry: without going under the house to do an inspection to determine if the termite are still there, he said that he recommends retreating the area again. I said to him, shouldn't you go under the house to determine if the termites are still "live" before you try to sell me the treatment service. His response was: "I'll have to charge you $175 for me to go under the house". So I thought: SO YOU WANT ME TO PAY FOR A TREATMENT WITHOUT FIRST DETERMINING FOR CERTAIN WHETHER I EVEN HAVE AN ACTIVE TERMITE INFESTATION. YOU ARE NOT ACTING IN THE INTEREST OF THE CUSTOMER; ALL YOU WANT IS TO SELL ME A SERVICE I MAY NOT NEED. I called the manager of the branch and spoke to the manager, Brian Herstine. I explained to him that I was very dissatisfied with the service I got. I explained to him that I used Dewey several years before and at that time Anthony Raya did an outstanding job; but this time, the service level was terrible and that Jeremiah Jaramillo was not acting in the best interest of the customer. Brian Herstine apologized and said he would make things right. So he personally came out 2 days later with another tech named Fili. Brian was very professional, helpful, and commendable. They suited up and crawled under the house and did a thorough inspection to see if the termites are still alive. They discovered that all the termite tubes are old and inactive. There were no live active subterranean colony to worry about. I was relieved to hear that. I thanked them and said that I was very satisfied with how they made things right. I am a very satisfied customer again and they regained my loyalty. Thank you Brian and Fili for doing what is needed to make things right and making this customer happy. You have regained my trust and loyal to Dewey. I will be calling you guys again next time I need pest/termite service. read more
