My first time here ever! Stopped in because most reviews said great burgers. They were right, to a certain extent. Awfully thin patty on mushroom burger! Like McDonald's regular burger patties. But yes, the mushroom burger was delicious! Was happy to find out they have Swiss cheese, although you have to ask. Burger was obviously freshly cooked, and was hot and juicy! The grilled onions were a nice touch. Could have left the lettuce and tomatoes off, but easy enough for me to remove. The curly fries were perfect! Cooked the ultimate temperature and crispness. All in all it seems like I'll be back for sure! What I didn't like was how cold it was inside, how dark and dreary it was due to half the lighting burned out, and the gnats flying around my meal the entire time. Having napkins and ketchup at each table was great! Another concern was the obvious lack of cleaning the ketchup and mustard dispensers! When I'm the 4th person to order just after opening and the dispensers were crusty and gross under the caps is disgusting. But I'll live to post more reviews! A great meal for the price! $10.99 for a mushroom burger and sidewalks of curly fries plus tax was a bargain! Probably half what I would have paid at Big Bubba's. The food was amazing but it made my stomach hurt a bit. The soda was not the best and tasted weird but when the food came out it ended up good. The service was mid and we got a fish basket and a burger and fries and it came out in like 10 minutes. The bathroom was tagged up and kinda nasty but I still used it. The interior is informal, which gives it a relaxed though not luxurious feeling. Orders come out reasonably quickly. I last had a double burger, quite good and definitely plenty to eat all by itself. Served with no condiments or napkins in sight. And this is one messy burger; it fell apart as I was trying to eat, which was annoying. read more

Tricky borderline rating. Food is pretty decent--fries are a good texture and flavor. Burger was pretty good too. The "chicken strip basket" is three small pieces of fried chicken on top of some french fries. Hardly worth $10. $21 for a burger, 3 chicken strips, and some french fries--and no drinks. The staff was friendly and efficient, the seating area was clean and nothing fancy, just right for a drive-in. Dexter's soda fountain needs to be replaced. Every soda from the fountain has a sulfur/boiled egg taste. That is due to bacteria growing in the feed lines. I know this because I handled the same problem at a restaurant that I managed when I was younger. read more

Exceeded my expectations on the burger front. A bit lacking on the fry front (skinny, somewhat limp fries aren't my jam.) Milkshakes were pleasing all around and I spied some soft serve on the menu I'll have to keep in mind for future cravings. There was a more legitimate "drive-in" in my childhood hometown and I am happy to proclaim Dexter's melty cheese, onion, grilled burger flavors are reminiscent of that former life. Our phone in order was made efficiently and correctly. Be careful if using the photos of the menu to order because the combo numbers are different. Burger was on the same level as a public school lunch burger. The fries were ok, just tasted like frozen fries. They were crispy so that is a plus. The bathroom was not very clean and there were lights out in the sitting area making it dark. The pricing is fairly decent for what you get. read more

Good food and worth the wait. It's by the bay. There are birds in the parking lot like HEY OH WHAT UP IM A BIRD IN PARKING LOT and this guy and this girl are working here they're like "phone order number 28" but nobody came up to get the order until somebody did. She was kinda a nasty Karen looking lady and she was just sorta rude but I guess that's ok. Then she left and we were all happy and then the birds were like OH HELL WE BIRD THO and sometimes really weird political demonstrations happen on the corner near here but this weird sicko with a Kermit puppet on his hand and a stupid sign, he wasn't there so that's good So here's a picture of the pillar and brick work outside of the order window I like it because it's good to lean against and be like right there. All the high school students come here too but that's fine too. Dexter's is a good burger. I tried both the BBQ Burger and the Avocado burger & enjoyed both but have to say I preferred the BBQ Burger more with the bacon & very good thick BBQ sauce. The shoestring fries were good too. The Avacado Burger had to much mayo so the burger kept slupping off the bun. I tas good except for that so ask for light on the mayo if you order one so you don't have the same issue I did. I asked for some extra BBQ sauce to try with my fries & they happily gave me some. It was just as good on the fries as it was on the burger-BONUS!!!. When I return next time, I'll stick to the BBQ burger but there were some other burgers on the menu that looked worth trying too. I ordered and BBQ burger and it turned out pretty good the bun was a little soggy but I thinks just to do to how much BBQ sauce they put on it I would rate the burger 8/10.... I will say the girl working the cash register was rude and didn't seem to care at all. Didn't put bacon on my burger even though I paid for it. Then, they took my burger back, and when it was ready, they gave me the same burger, and i know it was because it had a bite taken out of it with soggy bacon. It was now soggy and smashed like they were pissed they had to make it right. Which means they threw a fit and refused to make another one. I'm pretty sure that's a health code violation...My daughter's burger was made perfect. I guess that's all that matters. That's what you get when you tip before you eat... I've had better. The bad reviews are 100% valid. $3 onion ring order with only 6 individual small crappy rings and the owner stood by it was worthy. Dexter's is a place we will keep going back to! It does take a while sometimes, but we think it is worth the wait. Sometimes it seems like they are short-staffed so waiting a little bit longer just comes with that. The first time we came, they forgot one of the drinks (and we didn't notice until we left, but I'm sure if we did and told them, they would have gotten it quickly). But we didn't mind! The fries are pretty good- hot and crispy. My husband loves the burgers here, he says they are better than most burgers he gets and they're big! The tenders in the chicken basket had a very crunchy breading and came very hot. I think the little dining area is really cute, fitting for a small town. We haven't tried the ice cream, but they seem to have a good selection of flavors. Overall, yummy food and nice service. We happily come back here to support this local business. read more
