This place is a gem! Some of the best Indian I've ever had! Cute little place that is clean and comfortable. We had chicken Tikka Masala, chicken vindaloo, dal and Gobi Meeka. Garlic naan was perfect. Also tried the turmeric wellness drink and it was light and tasty and you can get it with or without honey. We'll be back whenever we're in the area. I stopped midway through my lunch just to write this review, because of how compellingly delicious this mutton (goat) curry lunch is! I have now had this for about 5 times in the last couple of weeks and I just keep coming back for more. Whatever it is that they are getting right I hope they keep at it. The Best North Indian food I've had in Stamford! Firstly I'm very critical when it comes to food especially indian. I have dined numerous times now and can't stop coming back with excitement to try as many of the dishes as I can on each visit! The owners are so friendly and cater to your needs. Being of punjabi indian heritage, I sure do know my flavours and hands down this is the best indian I have had in CT and even compared to the few I have tried in NY!! Very disappointed. We have eaten here a few times in the last year and the food was good every time. Ordered delivery last night and the chicken tikka masala looked like they had poured water into the sauce. Very watered down sauce and not good at all. Super disappointing. Will never order from here again. Updating review- the owner called me to apologize and gave me a refund. This was a good gesture and he's trying to fix a bad experience. I was very eager to try this place due to their claim that they serve authentic Indian street food. We stopped by for a take out order when we were on the way home from New York. It was around 8:30 PM and the place was literally empty. I ordered a few chaat options and none seemed close to what I had expected. I am not sure if I will try the place again. read more

Tl;dr: undersized portions, overcooked dried meat but with a few good dishes. Pleasant low key restaurant with plenty of parking in front and side. Friendly servers. Food was a mixed bag - loved the briyani, but the curry dishes were below average. Meat was way too dry and overcooked, made it hard to enjoy the dish. Portions were disappointingly tiny (about half the size of other places I've been to) especially for the price point compared to other indian restaurants (esp the curry). We saw another table that ordered the tandoori / kebab and it came out sizzling hot and smelling good. The lassi was overly sweet, prepackaged, and watery - skip it (though a dining companion thought it was a unique flavor). read more

We found this gem on our way back from Boston to Jersey City. The restaurant doesn't do dine in between 3-5 pm and we arrived at 4:30, even then the restaurant manager was very accommodating and suggested us to order the starters. The starters were served right away. The food was amazing !!! We ordered paapdi chaat (re-ordered a second helping because it was so amazing!) , Aloo tikki, vada paav and bhel puri and everything was so fresh and tasty. For the main course, paneer tikka masala, dal tadka and dal makhani were our choices and we didn't regret ordering any of them. Wish this restaurant was near our home, we would have tried everything on its menu. Will definitely come back again if we are in Stamford. read more

Great food. I really like the butter chicken -- very similar to the chicken tikka masala (obviously), but more flavorful and less sweet. I'd also recommend the boondi raita, which is basically like normal raita but with some puffed chickpeas (almost like rice crispies), which is a nice addition. Good okra as well -- not the absolute best I've ever had, but far better than average. All in all I'd say this place isn't quite as good as the absolute best Indian places in NYC, but it's very close and more than fills the need for good Indian food. Solid local spot! I really liked their garlic naan and samosa. It was unlike any other samosa I've had; thin and flaky like a pastry and buttery like it was made with love and ghee. The filling was delicate like a mashed potato consistency rather than the big chunks some places do w/carrots and full peas. We ordered butter chicken which is hard to find authentically in this area. Taj doesn't do it. It tasted more like a tikka masala with strong spice but still very good. We ordered a great dinner last Friday from Dhabewala. The samosas come two to a pack and with plenty of sauce on the side. The briyani was flavorful and the goat delicious. I had the Pani Puri.
