On a whim, we decided to try Dhabewala. I placed an order online through their website for pick up - the process was easy and there's an option to select a time in the future for your order to be ready. Our order included Samosa Chaat, Papdi Chaat, Pani Poori, Naan, and Malai Kofta. Everything was fresh and delicious, the food was ready within 15 minutes, and pick up was easy. Everything I have tried here is delicious. The butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and gobi paratha are what we tried tonight. I'm looking forward to trying more items from the menu, as these were all delicious. Service is fast, friendly and convenient. I had a toddler in my car both times and they never hesitate to bring it out to me. We've also eaten in here and had a great experience. The aam (mango) lassi is delicious and refreshing. Came here for lunch. Heard that they opened a few weeks ago. There have been few Indian restaurants at this location but this looks like the best of the lot. Food and service was great! I got the goat biryani, which was very well made. The meat was tender and it was a good level of spice(not too spicy, not too mild). The price was 13 for lunch (menu said 16). I've ordered takeout from Dhabewala and have also eaten at the restaurant. The restaurant is pretty unassuming from the outside, located in a small strip mall. The inside is very nice and homey and definitely family-run. Staff was very attentive and helpful. The food is really good. The portions are definitely on the smaller side compared to other Indian restaurants, but really how much food do you need??? I'm more interested in quality... The only issue I had with the takeout is that one of the cartons was not filled all the way, which for an already small portion is problematic. Also, when eating at the restaurant at night be wary of sitting in view of the window as you'll be blinded by headlights! When this place opened, they had the most amazing aloo paranthas and authentically spiced Punjabi food. It was freshly made and you could tell. Sadly, since then it's taken a nosedive and the food is frozen, fat thick dough of paranthas - can't even see a layer of aloo anywhere, disgusting food that doesn't even taste like Indian food anymore. Went for lunch take-out. Annoyed online menu hosted by Grubhub didn't show they had lunch specials. Spent $21 for lamb curry and naan. It was fine though a bit small consider it was a $17 entree. Amazing new restaurant! We arrived around 7, restaurant was pretty full, we only waited about 5 minutes for a table though. Decor: loved it. Mix of contemporary with an Indian flare. Note the repurposed metal cups used as spotlights, the rustic wall hangings, tasteful colors. Indian music I don't care for but it fit the vibe (although I did notice another family ask them to turn the volume down a bit). This place is super clean!! Food: this is where they really shine. The food is a little pricey than typical Indian food but it is well worth it. Appetizers: We tried the samosas (with 2 large pieces) - thin crispy exterior with perfectly seasoned potato stuffing. We also tried the paneer pakora, which wasn't what I expected but it was essentially paneer and another filling, which was wrapped in some sort of pastry and fried, and then cut into 5 small portions. Entrees: we tried the chicken tika masala, palak paneer, and paratha. Everything was bursting with flavor, perfectly seasoned, creamy.. ugh so good. Definitely some of the best Indian food I've had and coming from NY and growing up around tons of Indian restaurants I've had my fair share of Indian. Service: this is where the place loses two stars from me. We were there for the dinner rush and it was clear that the restaurant needed more than one waiter servicing all the tables AND the take out orders. Dude is playing real life Diner Dash, preparing to go orders, taking dine in order, servicing drinks/food, cleaning tables, and seating new guests. I've never seen a waiter hustle so hard. But as you can imagine the individual service takes a hit. He wasn't able to check up on us during the dinner, a drink order was forgotten, and in general you will need to wait for him to catch you eye to flag him down if you need anything. What bothered me the most was that the it appeared to me that Caucasian guests didn't seem to have the same Issue. A family that was seated about 20 minutes after us had their entrees out immediately, which was the same dish we had ordered which made me suspect they have given them our order. They were waited on hand and foot and were out the door so quickly. We had to sit around twiddling our thumbs waiting for our food and eventually check. I don't think it's a race issue... but as the bulk of guests are Indian I'm assuming the restaurant wants to attract a wider demographic so they focus their services on those tables.. but as a first time guest I was hurt by the disparity. All in all, loved the food. Can't wait try other dishes. Probably wouldn't return for table service but might pick up food to go. read more

One of the worst meals we have ever had. We ordered samosas and onion bhajia for appetizer and they both arrived uncooked. When we pointed this out to the waiter he apologized and brought them back a few minutes later charred on the outside, raw inside and extremely bitter taste. The rest of the entrees were unseasoned and all ahead a funny bitter taste. Avoid this restaurant as they have no clue how to serve even a barely edible meal. Horrible experience. read more

This is a great little place for North Indian food with some variety from the standard fare most Indian restaurants offer. The food is freshly prepared and they can accommodate your spice tolerance which is great. The food wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't very good either . It lacked flavor and depth, and I was longing for more. The consistency and texture of the food was also very watery/greasy. We live in Stamford and have been ordering from this place very often and today while ordering we specifically asked whether naan has egg in it as my daughter has egg allergy. The person who was taking our order said that there is no egg put in naan. But my daughter had that naan and she developed allergic reaction. This could have been fatal. Next time please make sure that the front who is taking orders knows what goes in the food. read more
