A hidden gem of a find just outside downtown. Dharma Blue is also a regularly visited spot for the locals. My favorite thing about Pensacola is the readily available fresh seafood. I'm in heaven every time I'm here. Please note you have to call to make reservations. We booked a late reservation out on the front patio. The neighborhood is quite charming. I enjoyed one of the signature cocktails and watched the world go by. The wine and cocktail list are well curated pairing well with a sushi date or the seafood menu. Thomas was our server for the evening. He was professional and friendly. He made excellent suggestions which made for an enjoyable experience. Dharma offers an extensive sushi menu. They have the standard fare along with some specialty rolls. The standard sushi appetizers including miso soup and edamame, along with ginger salad and seaweed salad. The appetizer list is an eclectic mix of delicious dishes. We opted for the pork belly and this was quite possibly the most interesting interpretation I've ever had. Rich tender pork belly served in a ginger coconut sauce. It was absolutely delicious. For mains the catch of the day was Cobia. This was my first time eating this particular fish. I went with the semolina crusted with basmati rice and creamed spinach. The fish was meaty, flaky, and tender. The rice had an essence of coconut and the spinach was perfectly cooked. The cheeseburger was also very good. A thick juicy patty on a hearty brioche bun. The meal was lovely, the service warm and hospitable, and the ambiance was relaxing. Arrived on a Tuesday at 5pm when the restaurant opens. Sat at the bar where I was greeted by a bartender who obviously knew what she was doing. The mule I ordered was perfectly made. This place is very cute, comfy, and homey. Great place to chill out and have a nice meal. I just wish the food was not so disappointing considering it is a bit pricey. At a lower price point, I might be more forgiving. I had a small salad that consisted of merely greens, sliced almonds, and mandarin oranges. The fish special was good, but nothing special. I wasted calories on the key lime pie that was, again, ok but nothing special. Within 45 minutes the place was packed so be sure to make a reservation. We arrived about 25 minutes after opening, and didn't realize this is the kind of place where reservations are typically necessary to get a table. I've worked in hospitality and always try to be considerate of staff in a restaurant and go with whatever option works best for the functionality and flow of the establishment! The hostess as soon as we came in began looking for a place to seat us. Initially we wanted to sit outside, but they were already reserved in advance-the hostess was incredibly accommodating and so kind, we got a comfortable booth/table seat and began taking in the space. It's an eclectic restaurant, so much art and unique characteristics throughout and is truly such a beautiful space. The hostess brought my kids some coloring sheets and crayons, made small talk while waiting for reservations to show, she was so kind to us and made us feel so welcome. The menu is so straight forward and clean, something we really love as we have a neurodivergent child! We went with the sushi menu, and every item we ordered was delicious, from the rolls, to the salads and miso soup-we come from a Japanese background and the sushi was excellent. So fresh, made very well and with much care. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and also so welcoming to us! The desert (key lime pie and crème brûlée) was so, so delicious and finished off our experience wonderfully. Not too sweet, very balanced and the fresh fruit was perfect! As we left, the hostess made a point to say good bye to us and gave a very genuine smile. Especially when there are other great sushi places that are similar rolls hitting around $17. Also dessert was $10... probably $6 at best. Cocktails were good priced around $13 and up. Miso soup $6... seaweed salad $10... It was nice to try once but I'm not sure I'd go back unless it's for a weekly special. Service was the best part!! Also the inside was small but cute. My wife and I stopped in with friends last night, Thursday, for dinner at approximately 6 PM. We were happy to see that the place was not fully packed. That said, however, it was much fuller when we left after 8 PM. We open with adult beverages and their bruschetta. Must say that they do know how to make wonderful cocktails there and the bruschetta was huge And delicious! For our meals, my wife went for their steak while I decided on getting a couple of their rolls. All the meals were absolutely perfectly presented and delicious! Located in one of Pensacola's historic districts, I was really excited to go. Arriving inside, the decor is a mix of blues and a hodgepodge of pictures, mirrors, etc. with a bustling staff. I was seated quickly, but the service was slow - very slow. I ordered two sushi rolls, which took over 25 minutes to receive. I was very disappointed as the rolls had zero creativity in plating, and the cold rolls - being more room-temp than cool or cold, which sushi should be served at, as a standard. Street parking is available, and seating is a little tight in certain areas. It was comforting to see that the hostess was fastidious with her Covid precautions - mask with frequent antibacterial cleansing. Avoid the smoked tuna app, it tastes like store bought canned tuna with too much mayo. Crab cakes were no better than red lobster quality and I made the mistake of getting some wilted spinach and black eyed pea side that did not complement the crab cakes whatsoever. We tried for the Monday special ($2 off rolls when you dine in) and were not disappointed! The rolls are a tad more expensive than most places in the area but they are very unique and delicious. I recommend trying the sunset roll - so different! The drinks were great too - they have a huge "mule" menu. The restaurant itself is in an adorable, walkable little area full of historic homes. My only recommendation would be that they play some soft music inside or outside as it was very quiet. But that may be an ordinance for the area because we noticed that most restaurants nearby didn't have music. read more

Well here's another hidden gem here in Pensacola I'd say. I was definitely looking for a good sea/sushi place and this one was amazing!! I had the Dharma salad to start and it was simple but very tasty, then I had the chiefs special that was Mahi Mahi with pork belly black eyed peas and a crawfish gravy . Highly recommend this if it's on the menu then my friend had the crunchy shrimp roll and the surf n turf roll. Everything was very delicious! The service was spot on very friendly and helpful on all our questions and also attentive we didn't have to ask for any drink refills! The ambiance was hip but laid back very cool spot to have a nice dinner and drinks. I also had a Jack n Coke that could of used a little more Jack but still wasn't bad at all. read more
