THE KICKER IS THEY CHARGE YOU $2 FEE FOR ANY CARD WHETHER DEBIT OR CREDIT. I RECEIVED THE RECEIPT AND THERES AN ADDITIONAL "SURCHARGE." IN ADDITION TO THE CARD FEE. They are one of those stores when you call and ask about an order they pretend like it's on the way and will be there in five minutes and they don't know what you're talking about. The food is good but certainly not great oranywhere near worth waiting Over 90 minutes for and then for them to do nothing about it and make GrubHub cancel the order, even though they deliver their own orders according to the app. I will never order from here ever again. I know says the smart one , lets go get Pizza. Pizza places are always open in Chicago. So , we end up driving to Di Vita Pizzaria. The place was relatively empty , only one couple seated in the back. After driving the waitress crazy with our futile attempt to convey to her just what we wanted on our Pizza for four, we settled on cheese and sausage. But that was on 3/4 of the Pizza cuz the fat guy in the group wants vegetarian pizza , on his 1/4 of the pizza. uuuffff , vegetarian , who let him into the group. He says he's dieting. After a long wait the Pizza arrives. It's the "Football" size pizza. We dive in and consume most of the pizza. The left overs we gave to "Fatty" , you know , for his midnight snack. Yeah , i know , he's dieting. Okay , the pizza was very good. It was filling. It did it's job. I've had Di Vita's a few times now just by merit of living in the area, and I gotta be honest, it's pretty consistently bad. I think a lot of the people leaving positive reviews are stupid out-of-towners who don't really know what they're talking about. Posting a bad review of this place feels like punching down because I know they're struggling, but I think a lot of these reviews are pretty misleading. The thing is, I really wouldn't mind the quality if they weren't also expensive on top of it. If I could get some cheap shitty Italian food in my area that'd be great! But here's the thing, they aren't cheap. You're gonna be paying at least like $20+ if you come here, guaranteed. And don't get me wrong, the portions are generous! A lot of their entrees are like family-sized, like 1.5-2x the size of a normal dish from anywhere else, which would be great if it wasn't also so expensive. AND it sucks. So then you just have a bunch of this shitty food that you feel bad for throwing away since you paid so much for it. If I could just get some cheap Italian food for like $12, I'd be fine. But this is like $20 after tip and tax, and the quality is legitimately bad. Some tips for Di Vita's that would legitimately help them: 1. Make the menu smaller. It's far too big and too much to manage! That's money you're losing 2. Lower the portion sizes and price them accordingly, or at least give people the option between family and single-serving sizes. 3. Use fresher ingredients, everything tastes like it's from a can or jar. 4. Give people cheaper options! $8 for a slice is INSANE. And from what I hear it's not even the same pies you make when someone is ordering an entire pizza. read more

Have to say, The perfect neighborhood Pizza Joint near my place of work...a long time ago; would frequent before, but usually after work and enjoy a sit down with friends & employees. Crust was just the right amount of 'crackle' around the outside...gooey cheese with the proper amount of pull. Sauce was tangy without being spicy. No. Ordered a small, thin crust pepperoni pizza. Too much grease. Sauce is non-existent. Cheese is deflated and not even stringy (you know what I mean, when you take a bite and pull away from your slice and that cheese just doesn't want to let go). Pretty sure it's just grease in between the cheese and crust. I'll even upload a pic for ya. Total with delivery was $12.15. I just gave the guy $15. That's how much it costs to get a GREAT medium pizza from Coluta's (on Diversey). I always order from them because they have really tasty sauce that has a hint of sweetness. But I wanted to try other businesses in the area. Would I get Di Vita's again? No. They're better than Sarpino's. That's about the only good thing I can say. P.S. 3.5/5 Ordered a single slice, but it looks like they hooked up 2 and had to place it in a small pizza box. $4 well spent. I was told it would be fresh and would take 15 minutes. It was more like 25 mins. Luckily, I had to wait only the additional 10 minutes in their warm, cramped carryout waiting area. I felt like I was suffocating, as the waiting area is completely walled off. The most important part: the taste. I got the slice late night as a result of my wife's pregnancy craving. It hit the spot for her. And with (technically) two slices, I snagged a couple bites myself. Pretty standard quality, relative to all pizzas. But for the neighborhood, it was above average. Pizza places are aplenty in Avondale; I still have yet to find one that is as good as any of the south side spots -- thank goodness for Giordano's on Milwaukee. Sauce could be sweeter (possibly personal preference). Toppings were fair. Crust was meh. Cheese was standard. Two slices for the price of one (value) made this a good overall purchase. I ordered linguine with white clam sauce, which I've ordered many times before along with other items. The clams were rotten and smelled up my house within a minute of opening the container. I attempted to resolve with the restaurant and the woman claimed that I must just not like the cook's way of making this dish because the can showed an expiration of 2020 (and also 2022) apparently. I told them again that it had nothing to do with the preparation, that the clams were rotten. She kept going off phone to discuss with someone else. I also told her that I order from them all the time and have never had a problem. I will never order from them again. They basically handled me like I was lying to them. Perch dinner was a decent price so I ordered that with coleslaw and fries. To meet the minimum order price, I added cheesy garlic bread. The perch was noting special. Seriously, it could have come from the grocery store freezer aisle. Was not impressed. Maybe I'm used to different coleslaw but it was just 3 large hunks of lettuce with a couple tomatoes thrown on top with dressing. Not good. I have been a long time fan of Di Vita's pizza and have regularly recommended them to others in the area. That ends tonight, as they just gave me the worst customer service experience of my life. I placed an order on Grubhub for delivery. I paid to add meatballs to my pasta, and requested the sauce to be substituted with vodka sauce in the notes. When the order arrived, there were no meatballs and the pasta was doused in alfredo sauce. It was completely different than what I had ordered. I didn't really want to eat it, so I called Di Vita's to ask if I could have it replaced. We live right down the street, and I'd rather have the correct order than a refund. I've worked in customer service my whole life, so I never treat workers poorly or make a big fuss. Accidents happen. I handled myself kindly on the phone. The girl who answered kept putting me on hold for minutes at a time to check with someone on my request. At one point she read my order to me with the notes included, and I had to explain again how different the order I recieved was. Eventually she said they could send a new one, but I had to send the old order back. I was a little taken back by this, as it seemed really out of character for a restaurant to do - but I said that was fine and was honest enough to let them know I had taken a few bites while waiting because I was hungry. She then gave the phone to her manager without any knowledge to me, nor reason to do so. He started hounding me about sending the food back, which I was not arguing about - regardless of how strange it was. He said multiple times "I can't let you get double food." I just relayed that I had no problem with that, but just gave a heads up that I ate a little while waiting. He then said "That's fine, as long as it's not half. Then I'd have to put your name of a list." At this point, I was really repulsed by the way I was being treated. I told him to forget it, and that this was horrible customer service. He replied in a smug voice, "Oh? Why's that?" They messed up my order. I only wanted what I paid to recieve, that they clearly had record of. That it's really rude to treat a customer that way for your own mistake. I have long time supported them and now will take my business elsewhere. He told me "Good. I wouldn't want your business anyway." before hanging up. I am still astonished by this experience. Now I'm without dinner and left in a sour mood. I've never been treated like a con artist for a restaurant making my order wrong before until tonight. Absolutely ridiculous. read more
