Really, really tasty food, but a bit overpriced for the pizza. The cheese curds were delicious and the small order was perfect as an app for 2. Both the garlic aioli and red sauce were perfect and the right amount to also be able to dip our pizza crust in. The hot honey pepperoni was excellent. It was not spicy, and the perfect amount of sweet. The fresh basil was a great touch and the ricotta made it pretty to boot. read more

I have to say this place is not overrated! It got a lot of social media hype so it's always a feat but it held to its reputation. We got the vodka sausage and the hot honey pepperoni and both were delicious. It falls between a NY style and a hand tossed crust I would say. All pizzas are one size. I loved their pizza, but stopped ordering from this place. If you pay with a card, they charge you extra 2.9%, to offset the fees they get charged by the credit card company. Passing on to the consumer those fees is not kool. A pizza is already 30 bucks, and you want to pass more fees onto consumers?... that is not a business I want to support! I'll skip! read more

In a city with a lot of pizza places, Zazas definitely has a positive impact on the list. Ordering online is beyond easy and the service is fast. There are only one size whole pizzas unless you're eating in and you order by the slice. There are plenty of options to choose from and you can modify a few pizzas and add some toppings to your order. The pizzas are HUGE and you won't go hungry. We went with the Gold Medal Pie and weren't disappointed! Between two people, we had about 2.5 slices each. I definitely will never order here without adding on the garlic knots. It's a bit frustrating you only get a few, but they are very filling and just buttery garlic goodness. They're so delicious. If you are eating in the restaurant, I highly recommend ordering some of the by-the-slice pieces so you can try more of the menu without committing to an entire pizza. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. read more

I think I almost cried when I opened the box. Ordered the hot honey pepperoni with pork-free pepperoni instead of the regular ones. It was delicious- sweetness from the honey, umami from the pepperoni and cheese, creaminess from the ricotta, and earthiness from the basil! I will say though it is not spicy at all which was disappointing, but we just loaded up on red pepper flakes. Overall, 9/10. read more

Great pizza, but expect to wait over an hour for carry out. All i ordered was one pizza on a Monday evening. That should not take over an hour. I showed up after 45 minutes and the hostess said it'll be ready in 15 minutes, and she'll call my name. 30 minutes went by so I asked again and they said it was ready. Got home and had to microwave it. Experience had been terrible twice, but the pizza is so good I'm willing to give it another shot. Won't be showing up until 75 minutes after i order though to be safe read more

This pizza immediately satisfied my hot honey pepperoni pie craving. It was so tasty! Not very spicy but you can always add red pepper flakes. The garlic knots were good as well but the marinara was off to me. It was too watery and sweet for my liking. Overall a great spot with easy online ordering/takeout. read more

Zaza's Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza is amazing and their most popular pie. It was perfect for 3 people. I've also liked the Caruso Special and Truffle Mushroom which gave us a great and unique variety of pizzas. The pizzas are nut free and note if they have sesame which is great for those with allergies. The cheese curds were yummy (love the sauces) and the salad was fine but helped break through the heaviness of everything else. The wait time is pretty long - they're quite busy so order in advance. I think they are opening a new location soon near the Apple Store in Lincoln Park which is very exciting!! read more

Just a quick update to confirm that three years after opening, Zazas remains the best thin crust pizza spot in Chicago. This time around, since we don't get down there as much as we'd like, we grabbed two pies to mix and match, and then to freeze the leftovers to enjoy down the line. The white pie is excellent - it's a tough pie to execute because there's nothing to hide behind, just fresh ingredients and skill. It's delicious, and the sesame crust is a nice, unique touch. It might be fun to brush a little olive oil and salt on the crust for some added flavor, but that's a personal touch. The dough remains perfectly done, light and chewy with a great undercarriage, just the slightest flop. I have never had the opportunity to grab their grandma pie because it's usually sold out, so I was thrilled to be able to try it. It's somewhere between a free form thin, a sicilian, and a Detroit style, and it's damn great. The sauce is right where you want it (I just added a touch of salt), and the crust is so good. I have never seen my wife eat two slices of pizza faster than with this pie, she's a total convert. And that cheese - it reminds me of the way Lombardi's in NYC does their cheese in that 120 year old coal oven. So good. Being two people who grew up with east coast pizza, I mean it with the highest praise that Zazas is up there with the absolute best pizza I've ever had, in New Jersey, in New York, anywhere. Excited to go back in a few weeks to try the Windy City Pie. Until then, though, those leftovers will do just fine. read more

Delivery was really quick and the food arrived pretty warm (can't fault them we ordered from far away lol). The cheese curds were so good that they didn't even last long enough for a pic. Generally they get 5 stars. They have a new phone ordering system that is TERRIBLE! The restaurant sends out weekly emails touting $15 Tuesday Cheese Pizza! Their new system had no idea of the Tuesday special and would not accept it as an order. I Asked to be transferred to a live store clerk and it would not! It kept repeating its regular options. I asked if the restaurant was a BYOB. It said it Wasn't. I asked if I could bring beer and it said no you cannot. I finally placed an order for a truffle mushroom pizza and it told me the pizza would be ready in about 30 minutes. We got to the restaurant 30 minutes later and the store Clerk could not find the order. After 5 minutes she found the order under a misspelled name. She confirmed that they are a BYOB, and that they do have a Tuesday special and "no" she hadn't tried ordering on their new system. No apologies from her. And to top it the pizza was COLD because it had been sitting for about 15 minutes. Their automated system gave me a bad wait time. They weren't willing to reheat the pizza. I overheard the cashier relaying my issues to someone making pizzas and that was it. Looks like they have 4 locations now. So they're growing fast but not trying to take care of their existing customers. Customers have choices too. This company will not be getting the benefit of my money. I will have to think twice before going to their store. read more

Zaza's is definitely in my top 5 pizza spots in Chicago. I loved every single slice we tried here. The whipped ricotta with pepperoni is delicious and the crust is perfectly crispy while still having a great texture. Both the NY style large slices & the square were amazing. Finally got to try Zazas after hearing so many good reviews! We can definitely see why. First off, if you're planning to eat your pizza fresh made there, plan to wait a little for a seat. Seats are limited, but there are a good amount of tables. We ordered our pizza there and it was out within 20 minutes, given this was on a Sunday evening and it was packed inside, while still making to-go orders as well. The garlic twists were a great starter, super warm, fluffy and garlicky. The dipping sauces were also tasty, particularly the white sauce. For the pizza, there are so many great ingredient combos, but we decided to keep it simple. We tried the hot honey pepperoni and that was a perfect blend of pepperoni and ricotta. The crust was super crispy and light - the slices themselves are nice and light so you can eat a bunch without feeling guilty! The team was super nice and welcoming and the vibes were typical of a local pizza spot. Up next for us, we want to try one of their vodka pies. This place is amazing. I have gone in to get their regular NYC style pizza and we got the gold medal pizza. I love their sauce. I most recently got their grandma pie with pepperoni and hot honey and it was the best square pizza pie I've had!! Their service is quick. I ordered online and drive up a little early. Full disclosure I'm from NJ and am a pizza snob. My go to place for a NY slice in Chicago is Jimmy's. We're a little late to the Zaza's party. We were in the area on a Saturday right at noon - five min later the place was packed. We got a NY classic pie with pepperoni and then couldn't resist trying a few slices. My husband and I stopped in here yesterday for lunch with our toddler. Everyone was super welcoming and as a bonus they were handing out samples! I got the vodka pepperoni grandma slice- a touch thicker than the super thin crust they have but nice and chewy and crispy. Perfect cheese and sauce ratio and the sauce was so flavorful. This is our favorite NY style pizza place in the neighborhood. They have an excellent variety of styles and toppings that we have never disliked. My typical go-to is their traditional pepperoni slice. Always very crispy, cheesy and the curled pepperonis are so flavorful. I also enjoy that they have Mike's Hot Honey in packets. It allows me to control how little or a lot that I want (usually a lot). I'd also like to give kudos to their service. The place is not very big and can get busy. The host / cashier is always very friendly and prompt when your order is ready. read more

Get your name on a seating list and yeah. Worth it. The girl was young, cute, and so cool but still so sweet and kind. The food was really, really good. Really loved the Mike's hot pepperoni pie and the bacon jam - really nice that you can split flavors with the same sauce if you get a large pie. New York style pizza is my favorite type of pizza, and hard to find a joint that meets expectations outside nyc. However, I can say Zazas meets and exceeds expectations! I've only had carry out so far, but even then, their pizzas are delicious. Perfect sauce and cheese ratio, with a great undercarriage. Toppings are great and pies are adequately priced. Service has been great and online ordering is easy. Will have to dine in next time. I've also heard they sell by the slice on certain days, so will have to keep an eye out for that. Zaza is our fourth pizza restaurant to try from the Chicago magazine's top 25 pizza places in Chicago! ZaZa's pizzeria was a tiny place that did a lot of takeout and delivery service. People were coming in and out the whole time we were there on a Sunday night. There are very few seats inside and we were lucky because it was a Sunday, so the four of us were able to sit down at a table. It's definitely no frills with paper plates and desserts wrapped in saran wrap, but I will tell you that should never discourage you from coming to this place! The people that work there were so nice and really proud of their pizza. We had such a nice experience with a young man that works there that manages their Geneva pizza place so if you live in that area definitely check it out. He will for sure take great care of you! We ordered two pizzas between the four of us. The truffle mushroom pie which was simply amazing and definitely my favorite, and the bruschetta pizza. Let's talk about the truffle! Whoa! Amazing flavor with a nice stretchy and perfectly salted crust. My husband usually likes red sauce on a pizza, but he did not mind that this did one not have it because it was jam packed full of flavor. While I enjoyed the bruschetta pizza, it had a thinner and floppier crust than the truffle one, but don't get me wrong. It was still great. The balsamic glaze on top was definitely a plus! We also shared the funky Caesar salad with a creamy miso dressing and sourdough croutons. It was also fantastic. We loved those croutons! We finished with a Nutella fudge brownie and a giant chocolate chip cookie! A great way to end our meal. If you live in this neighborhood or work at Illinois Masonic, you have got to check this place out. It deserved to be in the top 25! read more

That was easily some of the best pizza I have had in Chicago. Ironically having been in NYC recently, I can say this compares the best to a NY slice. You open up to a beautifully rising dough crust that has been garnished with butter and is crispy and airy. The under carriage is exquisite. There is a nice char and not too dark. There is no flop and the is super thin. There is an amazing crispness in each bite. We ordered the gold medal, classic cheese and mushroom. All were phenomenally good. The classic cheese was as classic as it gets. Red sauce was not super sweet and the cheese paired nicely. The gold medal had pockets of fresh mozzarella and fresh basil and the mushroom was wonderful with fresh mushrooms and white sauce. I have nothing bad to say but to run here. AMAZING PIZZA!! If you are picking up or getting delivered, I'd recommend tossing in the oven for a few....because it just adds to the already amazing flavor. The sauce on the grandma pie is incredible.....probably the best pizza I've had in Chicago (and yes I've had them all!) The regular-NY style is good as well....but you can't go wrong with the freshness of the grandma pie!! read more

Two slices and you are stuffed for the rest of the day. The seasoning is perfect on their pies (these aren't pizzas, they earn the pie designation!). The location was super convenient to major retail stores on Michigan Ave's Miracle Mile, the decor is exactly what you would imagine it would be for a Chicago deep dish pizza place but with a step up over the competition for the comfortable seating compared to the other guys. If you haven't tried it you need to do so. It's as Chicago as the Cubs and the Bears.
