First for a "chrome delete" and then back for a window tinting. I've the service done more than a half year ago and I have been trying to contact them and have it fixed for several times. They normally don't pick up the call and when they did, they told me they will call me back because they need to figure out the scheduling but they never do. I also went their store many times but they are never open. I am not even sure if it's still in service. I've waited for too long and have given them too many chances. I wholeheartedly recommend Diablo Auto Works in Lafayette. Edris, the owner, does outstanding work and stands behind his craftsmanship. I bought a new Tesla Model Y in August 2022. One of the first things I wanted to do was get PPF (Paint Protection Film) installed on the front of the car. My research led me to Diablo Auto Works because they had excellent reviews and they use XPEL film, which seems to be the best PPF product on the market. We were planning our first trip in the new car a week & a half later (to Lake Tahoe) and I wanted to protect the paint before we took a long drive. I was able to get a quick appointment at Diablo Auto Works and the PPF was installed before our trip. Edris did a superlative job on the PPF installation. It's almost invisible but it does an amazing job of protecting the paint. It also makes the front end of the car much easier to keep clean. Edris also kindly recommended that I have the Model Y's glass roof tinted for heat & UV protection, so I had him do that too. OMG, I'm so glad I did. Without that tinting, the sun would have been beating down on my fair-skinned scalp & forehead during much of the trip, especially in the thin air at Tahoe. Not only does the tinting almost eliminate UV damage to skin, it also drastically cuts down on heat from sunlight. So if you are considering getting PPF on your car, or are looking for expert window tinting, give Diablo Auto Works a call! read more

I selected this auto shop based on their excellent reviews and I'm really happy with that choice. Luis and Alex both did a great job with the vehicle. When I first brought it in, the car was not ready to be smogged because the battery had died and the sensors were cleared. Alex explained how to do a drive cycle to get them reset. I gave it a try but was not able to get all of them successfully reset. They were willing to keep the car and take it on the drive cycle themselves which was very very helpful. I would highly recommend this shop for any Smog needs. They also offer drop off and pick up service which was awesome. read more

Probably the worst customer service I have seen in Lafayette, or maybe anywhere. Made an appointment on line with their web site. I arrive 10 minutes early as did another customer. She said she had a 2pm appointment, and I said I did, too. The guy at the desk, who by the way took about 5 minutes to even come insides, said they don't do appointments. We both said we did it on line, and he said the web site needs to be updated. The person in front of me had to go get her registration info and the employee said he would take me. He asked me for me registration, which I gave him. He then asked me for my phone number and I gave it to him. He then asked me for my keys. When I gave them to him he said what is your phone number? I told him I just gave it to him and he said just making sure...ha...Then he asked me for my keys, again, even though I just gave it to him. He then printed out the costs and I said $89.95 is real expensive. I told him others are $25-$40 cheaper he just shrugged. He then got my car, and I remember seeing that the price for a smog check was $39.75 on line. He said that was a coupon and I said it doesn't say coupon. He said I had to tell him I had the coupon before I signed for the service. I said where does it say that, and he pointed out in small white letters where it said that. The person in front of me left when she found out the cost because the web site is misleading! Just about every part about this transaction was sketchy and unprofessional. I asked for my car back and left and found a place in Walnut Creek $30 cheaper and very friendly! The only positive note is that I got my car back quickly and I could go somewhere else. read more

This Review is for a customer service only, I did not actually receive any products or work on my vehicle from this shop. I booked an appointment online Initially for Saturday 27 March and Friday afternoon someone from the Shoppe emailed me to cancel saying that they didn't have any window tint and I would need to reschedule, and they proceeded to reschedule my appointment for the middle of the day Monday when I am at work. So I had to cancel the appointment as I could not make it there from South San Francisco in the middle of my workday. I rescheduled my appointment for Saturday, April 3 and received TWO CONFIRMATION EMAILS from the shop one of them on Friday, April 2 confirming my 8 AM appointment on April 3. When I got to the shop at about 7:50 AM on April 3 (arriving 10 mins early as per requested in my CONFIRMATION EMAIL FROM THE DAY BEFORE) there was a handwritten sign taped to the front door saying they were closed for a week. I tried calling the shop and leaving a message and no one got back to me, I waited until about 805 before I left because it was clear that no one was there. Canceling an appointment once is poor customer service, not bothering to cancel an appointment a second time and allowing your customer to drive 45 minutes to get to your shop before 8 AM on Weekend is absolutely abhorrent. I see from older reviews that this is happened to other clients, and I highly recommend everyone stay as far away from the shop as possible. The service might be great if they actually decide they want to help you, but it seems like many people have had the same experience I have. read more

I've now gone to Luis twice for smog checks. Both times he was communicative, efficient, and friendly. This last time, my car failed the test. He not only had already stayed open a bit longer than he might have otherwise that day to accommodate me, but he also didn't charge me for the failed test and spent 10 extra minutes explaining exactly how we could go about getting the problem remedied. He even gave us a cleaner product for free in case we decided to try and fix the issue ourselves. We will definitely be coming back here because of his excellent service, despite the fact that there are smog check locations closer to my house. read more

Things didn't work out for me here. I booked an appointment time online, and then received not one, but two confirmations from their online booking program. I showed up the next day at my appointed time and no one was there. Should have called first to confirm someone was there. Book here with that in mind. It's hard to recommend this place unless they get there booking system and employees on the same page. Update on first review of my experience; Since the posting of my review the owner has reached out to me and apologized and informed me that he is taking my comments positively and will make sure that this type of incident does not happen again. Do not go here for a smog test, my 2010 Prius failed because it had the incomplete EVAP. "Vehicle may pass the smog inspection with an incomplete EVAP monitor for 2000 and newer model year, gasoline powered vehicles will need all emission monitors in READY or COMPLETE status, with the exception of the EVAP monitor. An incomplete evaporative monitor will not cause a smog check failure". I mentioned this to the Smog Tech, he lied and said it changed this year... They made me pay and if I do a retest I pay again, most places tell you if it doesn't pass you don't pay not Diablo Smog. read more
