The owner Henry got mad at me for parking in the parking lot for diablo grills and threatened false imprisonment on me. He was with his cop buddy who watched the whole thing and when I asked the officer if he was going to let this happen, he stood there and acted like it was acceptable and legal behavior. This man is unstable and has ties with the police to back him, I personally would NOT support this business and give this man any money. Edit: Henry let's not twist the situation and put words in my mouth. I parked in the lot directly in front of the sign that says customers can park there. You said they will ticket me and I asked if the spot corresponds to the sign directly in front of it, you said yes. I said oh no it should b fine then because it says customer parking is ok and I was paying it on my phone as we were speaking. You then said I don't need to pay to which I said oh that's good I don't even care then to pay it. You then said you didn't like my attitude. Although confused I apologized and expressed I didn't mean to come off that way, and asked what gave you that impression. You then threatened me and I asked the officer if that was acceptable. When he told me it was, I decided to stop dealing with you and moved my car to another spot. When I realized you were the owner of this business I obviously did not shop with you and left downtown. You cant get customers by threatening them because you do not want them in your parking lot FOR YOUR BUSINESS, Henry I'm not sure if you were having a bad day or what but you were very odd and confusing to me, and it is YOU who is the rude individual. My husband and I visited Diablo Grills this afternoon. We have been talking about replacing our current grill, which we purchased from BBQ's Galore many years ago. When we walked in, there was one customer service person, who was waiting on the only other customer in the store. We did not receive a greeting, a "I'll be with you shortly...please feel free to look around", no eye contact...nothing. We looked around for a good 10-15 minutes without any interaction from the sales lady on the floor. After a few more minutes, we dedided to leave. Clearly, this establishment is not interested in customer service. A simple "welcome in" would done wonders. Now my husband and I have our first impression and it is not a good one. I am not one to write reviews but I felt compelled seeing all the comments around this business and when compared to my experience I wanted to share to help other's make up their minds if they want to visit this establishment. I came to this store specifically since they carried Blaze products and I wanted to see the products in person before deciding to purchase. On my first visit Peggy was very helpful explaining various products which really just made my research start over on the product line I hadn't concerned. Ultimately, I went stuck with the Blaze products and placed my order last month. I have seen in other comments about lack of customer service in the stores. Well they generally only have one person working at a time (At least the times I visited) and if that person is helping with another customer you will need to wait. With that said, when I was being helped I definitely had the employee full attention. If I wanted to find a negative experience I would say when I was quoted a price I was told the BBQ was on sale. I specifically asked when would the sale end and I was told, "Ohh I don't know" but then later learned the sale ended 48 hours later. That was a little disappointing since had I known that I would have purchased the grill sooner and paid the reduced price. After my purchase was complete I did send Henry a note about my experience and told him specifically about the price issue. He did confirm that does happen but said Blaze had a new promotion and hooked me up with a new fridge. In the end I would recommend visiting this shop. It is a small business which serves a market which is fairly underserved IMO. And for an elevated grill you really only have Friedman's and Diablo to shop from. This place has many more options versus Friedman's and the staff are BBQ experts. read more

Telling your customers that you have covid and we should be wearing masks made us feel uncomfortable. This was probably the only time the people working there paid any attention to us 2. Rude, racist, and snobby My family walked into Diablo Grills after dinner celebrating my birthday tonight. Father's Day is coming up and my parents have a beautiful backyard in Lafayette that they spent a fortune curating. They have been wanting to replace their grill for years but had never gotten around to it. The moment we stepped into the otherwise empty showroom, one of the staff yelled "We have COVID in here, I hope you brought your masks!" We stopped dead in our tracks at such a strange greeting, only to hear a follow up from a woman staffer saying "He's just kidding". The remainder of our excruciatingly awkward visit consisted of us looking around and never once being asked if we needed help. The two sales people didn't even look up at us, even when we asked questions. We are Chinese American. My parents and I were born and raised in California and I have lived in the Lafayette/Walnut Creek all my life. Recent times, and especially this extremely offensive encounter, have been a disappointing reminder that Walnut Creek retains a strong racist undertone and lack of diverse thinking. Needless to say, we will be taking our business elsewhere. We recommend you do too. Do better Diablo Grills. Shame on you. 6/28 Update To the business owner who wrote the thoughtful apology. I appreciate the time you took to respond and believe that your words are sincere. I don't, however, believe that the sales people that greeted us inappropriately that day are sorry in any way. Been researching the Yoder pellet smokers online and wanted to see them in person. diablo grills was the closet dealer to me. Called ahead of time to confirm the models they had on display. Went to the store and spent time looking at the Yoder. Asked some questions. The person who helped me was able to answer them. Ended up putting in an order for one that will be delivered to the store in September. If diablo has the item you are interested in, I would recommend going in and talking to them. I will be writing a several-part review as so many things have gone wrong with my purchase here, that there is no way to get all the inadequate services into one review! I will work on attaching all of the voicemails and emails so there can be no doubt about what happened here and who is at fault. I am shocked that this company is still in business, given its lack of customer service and accountability. I have been working with them almost weekly for about a year trying to resolve an issue with a Lynx Griddle I purchased, and during that time, even though I have asked repeatedly to speak with the owner, the Owner refuses to take my call or call me back! The situation resolves around a $7,000 Griddle they sold me that NEVER worked! On at least eight different occasions, they have had repairers come to the house over the past year to never to fix the unit. I asked them to replace the unit since it has never worked, and they sent another repair person to the house who still has not fixed it!! No matter how many emails or phone calls I send, no one has the authority to resolve this problem has called me back. I have over 50 emails, voicemails, and text messages trying to get them to fix this unit, but they fail to do so.....SO BEWARE! They have not and will not take responsibility for the product they sell you! They will push you off on the manufacturer, which has been a total disaster and has not solved the problem. I told them it would be one thing if they sold me a unit that worked at least once and then it broke; I understand that that is a Warranty issue, but it NEVER worked, not once for a YEAR!!!! And they still refuse to replace the unit?!? I never write posts, but I asked them to please have the owner call me by today, and he failed to do so again, so at this point, aside from taking them to small claims court, which is next, I have no other recourse for what should be an obvious solution. I had no idea that the owner, Henry, was so hard up that he would sell me a bunk unit and keep my measly $7,000 when he could replace the unit. How hard up can he be? So I will follow up with the backup so you can see I am not just a whiney customer; this is seriously the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have EVER experienced! There was not a single phone call for a year from the owner, a unit that has never worked, not even once, and no ownership for something they sold. He should be ashamed of himself for treating his customers this way and leaving Rohnda, the salesperson, to have to deal with this situation for so long with no power to do anything but make more phones calls and some more emails that have not worked! read more

Tried to sell damaged product after we waited two weeks for it. I think what was most annoying is most customer oriented businesses would offer something to try and make it better. They did not. They stood there and we had to basically "haggle" a $100 item to make up for the damaged over $4,000 item. It was very awkward. We also were charged double for smoker pellets after all that. Bought multiple BBQ appliances and 2 Bromic electric heaters for a backyard remodel. After opening the Heaters, my contractor said I needed to order a control box to operate each heater. Went back to Diablo Grills and was told they come with remotes and they should be in the box. They weren't. Went back again and was told they are sold separately and each remote costs over $1000 each!!! Should have been told this up front when purchasing. Asked for the owner to call me back to discuss and never received a call, although the sales rep would follow up and say she passed along the message. Frustrated, I called Bromic directly and they gave me an option that was half the price and worked via my smartphone. Ridiculous I wasn't given this option nor given the courtesy of a return phone call. As a small business owner myself I understand mistakes can be made, but please stand behind your mistakes and return a phone call. read more

Just wanted to compliment my local Yoder Smoker dealer. In Northern California there are two Yoder dealers. One of them, Diablo Grills, has two locations, one in the San Francisco Bay Area and one in the Sacramento area with their warehouse located in Eastern Sacramento. When I decided to purchase a Yoder and rely on the folks at Diablo Grills I was hoping for a good experience. From the start I felt cared for and my questions were answered in a timely and knowledgeable manner. Rohnda, at Diablo's Walnut Creek location, was my contact. She answered my phone calls and emails and helped me decide on the extras. I ordered the YS640s and hopped in line waiting for the next shipment as it seems many more folks had the same idea at the same time I did. I placed my order in August and patiently waited. Yoder has had a hard time keeping up with orders since Covid started as the demand for their products has skyrocketed. I had a family event which delayed my pickup and Rohnda was more than accommodating and said she'd have my smoker waiting for me at their Sacramento warehouse when I was able. Yesterday was the day I was finally able to pick it up. At their warehouse location Mike had it all ready for me. He expertly and carefully placed it in the back of my mini van, all 350 lbs of it. The box fit with room to spare. Mike worked quickly and was very excited and congratulated me on my new purchase. Mike even placed the box into my van in a way that when unloaded, ended up being positioned perfectly upright the way it was supposed to be for construction. That's something I never would have thought of and he seemed to know exactly what to do. That was a very pleasant and thoughtful surprise. My contractors all recommended Diablo Grills for my appliances but I also did a lot of research on my own and found Diablo to be price competitive with all the other alternatives that I researched. After this rsch I selected Diablo Grills for two separate projects (ordered Fire Magic grill and appliances such as dual refrigerators, ice maker etc) and found all the appliances to be of the highest quality. BUT my review doesn't stop here .. I had some special circumstances that required the owner (Henry) of Diablo Grills to get involved and I could not have had a better experience. 1) he took a personal role in helping me, 2) he called me often to check in to make sure everything was being addressed, 3) he cares that his clients are 100% satisfied. This is a fun store to visit. Their displays are mouth watering and they have a great selection of lump charcoals. Patty is very knowledgeable and helpful. They stock a new item for a Big Green Egg (and virtually all other charcoal grills) called a BBQ Dragon that does a fantastic job in heating up your fuel in like five minutes tops.
