I could just tell this restaurant was going to be a great experience from the moment we arrived. Friendly staff greeted us as we arrived and quickly showed us to our table. The atmosphere was warm and energetic, full of diners eating, drinking and enjoying conversation. After a quick scan of the menu, we quickly made our decision to order as many dishes as we could and share. We went for the beef tartare, Chinese scallion pancake, smoked tofu, kimchi trio, spicy rice cake, Chinese broccoli, "that" short rib steak, Kalbi burger, and the kombu cured mackerel. Everything was #brokedamout. The standouts to me were the scallion pancake, short rib, Kalbi burger and mackerel. Parking is available on the street and in private lots. We're already trying to figure out when we can get back here again before we leave. We'll certainly be back.

The staff is very knowledgeable, pleasant, and efficient. The menu is wonderfully creative (Korean-inspired), and all the dishes we ordered were tasty and well-executed. THE THORNS: No dedicated parking. It's kind of iffy finding parking on the street. Prices honestly seem a bit steep for what you get; $40 for a six-ounce cut of (wonderfully prepared) flatiron steak and a laughingly meager scattering of vegetables is a bit dear in my opinion. At $22, the kalbi burger is a much more reasonable choice. Dropping $150 for two entrees, two drinks, and two appetizers left me feeling a bit short-changed against what I was getting. THE VERDICT: Joule boasts a very interesting menu and executes well, but I just can't justify the bill for what I'm getting. You may feel differently. I understand Seattle's Progressive policies and onerous taxation (gotta pay for all those homeless programs somehow), but this is a bit much. Neither recommend nor discourage.

Our server was amazing. Attentive and friendly. We ordered Calamari and Crab Mac n Cheese. The Calamari was great, tender and full of flavor. The crab Mac was just ok, It was bland and not a lot of flavor. It definitely has potential just needed basic salt and pepper and maybe some seafood seasoning because it really didn't have and flavor even the crab.... Other than that we enjoyed our time there and if we are ever back in Seattles airport I wouldn't mind coming here to try other menu items.

Unfortunately, our experience was a little more conflicting than what we had expected. I ordered the steelhead with potatoes and seasonal vegetables, while Dan ordered the crab mac and cheese. We started with the crab toast and paired everything with a Coke for me and their Tropical Tea for Dan. The drinks were good, and the crab toast was even better. Dan really enjoyed the crab mac and cheese as well. Unfortunately, my entrée fell short of expectations. The steelhead itself was good, but the rice substituted for the potatoes was hard and clearly undercooked, and the broccoli was also quite hard. The rice was offered as a substitute because they were out of potatoes, and I have absolutely no issue with a substitution--especially in an airport. But when you're paying $120+ for a meal, the sides should still be properly prepared. One other thing to keep in mind if you're traveling: we had our carry-on and personal bags with us. We were asked not to place our belongings on the nearby tables. We noticed that guests seated at some of the surrounding tables were able to use nearby tables and high chairs for their belongings, so the policy felt a little inconsistent from where we were sitting. Overall, our review reflects our experience, which unfortunately left us disappointed and feeling like the meal didn't live up to the hype we had seen online. The fish was good, the starter was good, Dan enjoyed his entrée, and the service itself wasn't the overall main issue. It was primarily the quality of my sides and the overall value that left us feeling let down. That said, maybe it was simply a bad day for them. We're not saying this is necessarily representative of every visit, but based on our experience, we left feeling pretty disappointed after having such high expectations.

The atmosphere is great and gives off Bangkok street food vibes especially with the fact that it stays open until 2 am. We came in at 6 pm on a Saturday and were seated within 5-10 minutes. The waiter was diligent about checking in on us despite how busy the place already was. Whilst I liked the restaurant vibes, the place where we were seated was so hot with absolutely no ventilation making it a bit uncomfortable for a Seattle summer. There are fans placed throughout the rest of the restaurants, but in the subsection where we were placed, I don't believe that was an option. Another thing that was disappointing is the menu is deceptive in saying that dishes can be made gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc, but that's actually not true. The salads, soups, curries, and Pad Thai all have fish sauce / oyster sauce in them which is not vegetarian. I ended up requesting for vegan dishes instead and I could only order noodles which made sharing with my non-vegetarian friends quite difficult. I ended up getting the Pad Mama which was delicious, but it was definitely not my first choice. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this restaurant for a vegetarian, but the options are incredible for those who eat meat and / or enjoy a good cocktail menu.
