Great food in a "vintage" atmosphere. The service is excellent. Our waiteess knew the correct balance of full service without being pushy. She gave us time to enjoy our meal. Shrimp cocktail was decent. What made it extra special was the house made cocktail sauce. Perfect if you like horseradish. French onion soup great. Steaks cooked to perfection. The Willie fries were spicey, and the fried potatoes were delicious. The ONLY bad thing about meal was the onion rings that came complimentary with the ribeye. They were a bit greasy. My favorite restaurant in Akron. The food is amazing- from the jumbo shrimp cocktail that tastes like they were caught that morning with the perfect cocktail sauce to the grill items. Steaks, chops, local fish, and other entrees are straight-forward and honest. Salads, soups, are also fresh and delicious. We always start at the cozy bar for a cocktail and then move to a table. Love coming to the Diamond Grille, and I can't say I've ever had anything that was not delicious. They have a very knowledgeable bartender and are able to make some very good classic cocktails. My only complaint is that they were not able to serve my steak Oscar Style. I was told that they did not have béarnaise sauce on hand which seems odd for a well known steakhouse to not have. If you are in Akron for a night and can get one meal, this is the place. Diamond grille has been around forever and is situated in an unassuming location. But inside is a 30's speakeasy vibe with Art Deco charm. The staff is very friendly even if the service is at time slow. I did read another review on Yelp that said they rush the dining experience. No! That is incorrect. It is almost French instead. Speaking of French. The French onion soup is delicious. I was worried when I say the amount of oregano, but it made it. The blackened walleye was the best walleye I've ever had. Tender, moist and with a wonderful kick. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The sides were fine, but all were over cooked. So disappointed. My friends have been talking about Diamond Grill for years. So for my wife's 60th BD dinner we chose Diamond Grill. There were six of us. Our server did a good job, she worked hard to keep us moving, but it took a long time to get our main meal and my son-in-laws $50 sirloin steak was very overcooked so he had to send it back (more delay). My grand-daughters scallops and bacon kabab was fishy and undercooked (actually had to send the bacon back to be cooked correctly if you can believe that). The shrimp cocktail was excellent and the oysters were too. My wife's filet was a B+. Bill was $485 for 6 before tip. Diamond Grille will definitely be a one-and-done for me and my son-in-law. Coming in I was instantly alarmed with the sewer smell! It panicked me for sure! Never a good sign when the restaurant has a sewer problem! We all were hungry so went right to main course, I had Filet Mignon medium well should have ordered it just medium, flavor was good a little dry but good flavor, my husband had Sirloin Club medium it looked great but he was unimpressed with the flavor or tenderness of that cut, my aunt had Chicken Breast Sauté with white wine garlic sauce, two butterfly cut breast with the sauce overflowing on the plate, she said it was tasty but sure wasn't presented very well, uncle had Fried Jumbo Shrimps, 5 very large battered shrimp, he said they were good but again presentation was less than what i expected!! I guess you could say the meals were good but not great I was totally disappointed in the whole experience for sure!! My husband looked around in the bar area because we've heard so much about this place, he said there has been a lot of memories and stories that have taken place in this Akron icon that's for sure! Their food is fantastic but they will no longer serve me for some reason. A couple times now I have called in to order one of their delicious steaks to-go because I don't want to go sit in a fancy restaurant by myself and after asking me on the phone who I am, they tell me that they won't do a to-go order for me because they don't know who I am and are afraid I would rip them off by ordering an expensive meal and then not picking it up. If it was always their policy to not do to-go orders I would be fine with this but they have done a few orders for me in the past and clearly do it for people they don't think will rip them off. I really wish they would enter the modern era by fixing their slow service, accepting credit cards and figuring out a way to not turn down business. P.S. If you manage to find a way to entice them to let you buy food from them, I highly recommend ordering their bacon appetizer. It is probably the absolute best bacon I have ever had. read more

It's like a time machine but without having to find plutonium to power your trip back. It has a Wisconsin supper club feel. The decor resembles a 1950's rec room. Average age of the diners appears to be 60+. As for the food, it's standard steak, fish & chicken with wedge/house salad. I went with the salmon and home fries and house salad. The salad was forgettable. The salmon was decent but I have no idea how it was prepared. It appeared to be grilled with an unidentifiable sauce on it. The home fries were like crispy scalloped potatoes. They were good but nothing special. I did not choose Diamond Grille so this is not my type of place but if you want to relive the "good old days", it's a good option read more

My baked potato was not warm enough to melt the cold butter they give you on the table. My wife and I dined here the other night and all I can say is WOW..WOW!! Our server, Crystal, went above and beyond. She greeted us with an enormous genuine smile and asked if we had ever dined there. When we said no, because we are from California here visiting family, she proceeded to tell us a history of this amazing place and gave us so many wonderful recommendations about the menu. She also took time to give us recommendations about other places to visit while in the area, and what blew us away is that she wrote down places for us to visit and even wrote down menu items to order (If Crystal sees this, the galley burger was amazing as you suggested!) We have never dined somewhere that we felt like personal friends of our server before we left. The food exceeded the recommendations we had read, but the service is what we will come back for. The Diamond Grill staff is above the average wait staff, and we will definitely be back because of it.
