    Dungeness Crab Cocktail

My family and I have been coming to Diamond Grille for years to celebrate birthdays, holidays, or just enjoy a date night. This Akron staple, with over 100 years of history, never disappoints. The staff is always professional and attentive, ensuring a great experience every time. We love starting with appetizers--banana peppers are my favorite, and the shrimp and crab cocktails are phenomenal. This is the first place that made me love cocktail shrimp! Their homemade garlic vinaigrette elevates a simple salad, and I always get mine with feta and extra cucumbers. On Wednesdays, the prime rib is a must-try. Otherwise, the scampi with rice pilaf (served with a candle-warmed butter dish) or the Boston strip steak are excellent choices. The service and food quality are consistently top-notch, making this one of my favorite restaurants.

We visited this classic Akron restaurant for our recent anniversary dinner. The service was excellent. The interior is elegant, and our table felt spacious and comfortable. The food was not great or unique in the way you might expect for a fine dining experience, but it was good (scallops, steak, asparagus) and the portions were generous and included bread and salad. The sundae with the sparkler was the perfect finish for our celebration. The rear entrance is a bit confusing and too close to the open kitchen door.

So amazing, this is our valentines/anniversary place. Cool little place that's cash only, with the best steak and shrimp cocktail I've ever had. I dream of the shrimp cocktail. Very nice servers. So great!

Celebrated my birthday at Diamond Grille. Had a reservation on a Saturday night. Seated immediately. Vibe was very old-school, art deco interior and was like being a bit in a time warp. Food was more than solid. Our party had a couple of filet's, strip with bleu cheese and lobster tail. Like the fact that the entrees come with salad and a side. Steaks were well-prepared, everyone was pleased. Wife said the lobster was a little tough, but was a really nice size. Came with bread for the table. Drinks were solid, had a nice wine list, but we didn't have any wine. Service was excellent. Seemed well staffed and did not notice anyone having service issues. Since it was my birthday, got a nice complimentary ice cream. Only issues was the bathroom is downstairs and those with mobility issues might have a problem. I'm in my late 60's and felt like a kid in the place..... Also some don't like that it is cash only, not a problem for me but if you didn't know ahead of time could be an issue.

I love steak and Diamond Grill has great steaks. Try the oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer- my wife loves them. Service is excellent. Staff is friendly amd laid back. This is an old school steak house with a rat pack vibe but it isn't stuffy. No pretentious attitudes here.

It had been 20 years since I was there and it didn't disappoint. Love the vibe of the place, The main dining room is a 1950s movie set, but original to this place. Founded in 1935 and updated in the 50s. Helpful, cheerful and professional staff. A great place to converse over a great meal. Sauerkraut balls were not a favorite, put everything else was just great. The long bone ribeye was excellent, the best. The home fries were served homestyle, which was fine, but I didn't want to share... they were so good! If you are planning a day in Akron, include the Diamond Grille... and time travel with taste ;) yes it is cash/check only, has always been ... It is printed in bold at the bottom of the menus ... if you don't like it, then don't leave a bad review for your inability to read.

Cleveland scene rated top 10 restaurant 1. we walked in & we didn't feel welcomed at all 2.went to the restroom...it wasn't dirty but didn't feel fresh3. you can not eat at the bar (never heard of that ) 4. stuffy, old feel over all not welcoming 5. TOP IT OFF in small print (no credit card) in small print bottom of the page cash or CHECK lol atm is in the restaurant just tacky (check lol) over all the sides, feel we did have cash but over all not worth being there. spent $22.00 we left 9.00 -10 in tip so we weren't being cheap just felt unwanted.

Eh. I wanted to love the staple, but was not blown away. My steak lacked seasoning. Sides were like warm. I didn't feel the hype

Had out of town guests visit me in AKRON. We planned to go out for a nice dinner. So, after asking…read morethem what they were in the mood for, there was only ONE CHOICE on my favorites list that hit all the "hungrys". Off to ALEXANDER PIERCE. When we arrived at the well lit parking lot, we entered and were greeted supurbly by manager and host and seated. We had BRITANY as our server / bartender. From start to stop she was spot on. Never rushed us, explained all their evening features from appetizers, dinners and desserts. The menu covers all that you can possibly desire. Angus steaks, fresh and overly portioned seafood, to delicious pastas. We all ordered a wide variety of meals. The SURF, SURF AND SURF was amazing . So were the SHORT RIBS. I had the twin bone PORK CHOP. Huge, flavorful and never disappoints. Almost forgot, the smokey bourbon old fashions, created right at the table. We got the tour after dinner by Jess, the manager. She shiowed us all the attributes to this Akron gem. The Barrell dining room, the Vault, Screen Suites, the Coat Room lounge and adjoining Parlor room. Then even the new Culinary room where they have classes on how to cook various dishes at scheduled times taught by a Chef. If you are any where near Akron, this is a must try. If you live in Akron, this should become your weekly treat. Akron has many choices in fine restaurants, but there is only one ALEXANDER PIERCE !

5/5 Stars - Exceptional Food & Hospitality for Our 45th Anniversary…read moreWhat a wonderful, slightly hidden place!! Lovely ambiance! We couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary! The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel special, greeting us with anniversary wishes, and our table was adorned with rose petals. Our waiter, Jake, provided exceptional, attentive service all evening. He recommended the calamari misto to start, which was amazingly tender. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lobster bisque and the flavorful George's Bank sea scallops. My warm bacon spinach salad and lobster pasta were equally stellar. I truly enjoyed the homemade noodles, rich lobster, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes blended together beautifully. (I was busy eating and forgot to take photos!!) Coupled with great wine and a complimentary champagne toast for our anniversary, it was a memorable evening from start to finish (plus a delicious slice of cheesecake to enjoy at home!). Highly recommended, especially for special occasions!

I've never been here before but I know it's a fairly popular place so I was quick to agree to the location. We originally sat at the bar but the stools were so incredibly uncomfortable, so we moved to a booth. While our server was nice, it did take her quite a while to come take our drink order. I got a "lavendar breeze" for my first drink and it was delicious. The menu is small, with the focus being on grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm not a huge grilled cheese lover, so I ordered a wedge salad (with house white French dressing) and the sauerkraut balls from the appetizer menu. The salad was on par with what you'd expect, the dressing was tasty. The sauerkraut balls, though, kind of threw me. First, it's a HUGE serving. There was around 30-40 sauerkraut balls in the basket; way more than I ever imagined would be in an order. I was expecting four or five golf ball sized balls. Maybe I've been spoiled by having some fantastic sauerkraut balls, but these were subpar, at best. They didn't have a lot of flavor and the cocktail sauce they served with them was an odd choice. While I still enjoyed time catching up with a friend and the drinks were well done, I doubt I'll come back for food. The menu just wasn't appealing to me and what I did have wasnt good enough to lure me back anytime soon.

Finally made it to Ido Bar & Grill for Lobster Fest after hearing so many good things, and now I…read moreunderstand the hype! We had reservations and arrived to a fully set table waiting for us. There was a small hiccup with drinks taking a while to reach the table, but the manager noticed and immediately stepped in. The food was outstanding. We shared the Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms, and I ordered a lobster tail with a cup of Lobster Bisque. The bisque was rich, creamy, buttery and legitimately LOADED with large chunks of lobster. One of the best I've had. My lobster tail was huge, tender and perfectly cooked, with none of the rubbery texture you sometimes get. Even better, the melted butter comes to the table kept warm over a candle. Others at our table had the Lobster & Steak Alfredo, which came loaded with big pieces of lobster and beautifully seared steak. I attempted to sample said steak, but my girlfriend apparently considered it a protected resource. Lobster Fest genuinely felt like a little coastal seafood experience in the middle of Akron. Great first visit to Ido, and definitely not my last. I'm already looking forward to trying their regular menu and other seasonal specials!

Have you ever had a meal that you're STILL thinking about days later?…read more Yeah. This was that meal for me. I've lived in the Akron area my entire life and have known about Ido Bar & Grill for more than 20 years. And somehow, in all that time, I had never been inside. Not once. It just never really caught my attention. Then Lobster Fest happened. My boyfriend started seeing their ads all over Facebook and got curious. He asked in a few Facebook groups and on his personal page if it was actually worth trying, and the response was pretty much unanimous: GO. So we grabbed another couple of friends, made a reservation, and finally walked through the doors. First impressions? I was genuinely surprised by how large the restaurant is inside. It's beautifully decorated, comfortable, and has a completely different feel than I had pictured after driving past it all these years. I started with the Summertini, which was delicious, but honestly...the drinks were just the opening act. THE FOOD. I've only ever had lobster once before--a tiny bite that I remember being surprisingly good. I'd never had enough to actually order a full lobster dish, so I decided Lobster Fest was the perfect excuse to change that. My meal came with a side salad and I'm a huge fan of White French dressing so I was very happy to hear that was their house dressing. The salad was a nice blend of greens with fresh shaved cheddar and delicious house made croutons! The salad was a great start to my meal!!! For my entree, I went with the Lobster & Steak Fettuccine, and I am so glad I did. The portion was HUGE, and the Alfredo was exactly what I want Alfredo to be: rich, creamy, cheesy and loaded with garlic. And there was PLENTY of it. No sad, dry pasta happening here. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right, and there was a generous amount of lobster throughout the dish. Every bite was better than the last. And apparently, I wasn't the only one at the table making good decisions. The Lobster Bisque was absolutely packed with lobster. The Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms were delicious, and my boyfriend ordered the lobster tail and was completely obsessed with it. Basically, there wasn't a bad decision made at our table. The funniest part of the whole experience is realizing that I've apparently been sleeping on a fantastic Akron restaurant for TWENTY YEARS. ‍ I'm honestly a little annoyed with myself. But I intend to make up for lost time. We'll absolutely be back--not just for another featured menu (a lot of people suggested their Mardi Gras menu), but to work our way through the regular menu, too. After one visit, I already have a list of things I want to try. So, Ido Bar & Grill...you've officially gone from "that restaurant I've driven past for 20 years" to "why the hell didn't I come here sooner?" Apparently, sometimes it takes a Facebook ad and a little peer pressure to discover what's been right under your nose the whole time. If you've been considering trying it, take this as your sign.
