Jeff and Jeremy were nice and professional and the van is unique and cool. The moving itself was as efficient as I have ever seen. They clearly have a lot of experience and know exactly what they are doing. In my case they were racing against the end of the day (when my building's super was going to close the elevator), so they piled stuff on the top of the truck to make sure they could make it in one trip. They could have easily drawn out the process (and extending the time might have made them more money) but instead they finished earlier than expected. The price ended up being towards the low end of the range they had quoted me via email. Some shout outs to their colleagues, too: I emailed Mighty Van because Lightning Van suggested it. The landlord threatened to call the police on them at one point. Only one of the four movers was consistently working the whole time and they had him sitting in the van for half the move trying to avoid a ticket (why they didn't have the way-too-old mover doing this instead is beyond me). The foreman was constantly on the phone with his boss complaining instead of working. Rushed to get boxes into the correct rooms because one of the movers had a second job (non-moving related) to get to and the foreman wanted to get back to his wife. I was offered a paltry partial refund for the experience and billed for all of the extra time. I've moved several times in NYC, as well as to and from other states, and this was a uniquely bad experience.

Here is what happened: - They arrived three hours late, smelling like cannabis, with red eyes. It was obvious they were completely stoned. Later, when they packed the truck and were about to drive off to the new location, I came up to the truck's cabin to ask a question, and saw the driver and another mover sitting in the truck's cabin, smoking a joint (judging by the smell and the type of smoke). Not only is it unprofessional, it's extremely dangerous, especially driving a huge moving truck (a misdemeanor). All signs were pointing to the fact that this was not a freak occurrence, but their usual way of working. When I reached out to them, Vance (their boss) did not comment, whereas the driver said that he doesn't smoke cannabis, but he can't speak for his colleagues. Sadly, for the sake of road safety, I had to file a NYPD report. - It was a rainy day, and their truck was leaking a LOT. About two thirds of all boxes got wet (pictures attached). Some of them were soaked to the point of falling apart as you were carrying them. Many books of ours, as well as original artworks, paintings, our son's drawings and handwritten poems - all got badly damaged. In addition, a desk got pierced by some sharp object (pictures attached), and a pair of Sony headphones broke in half. When I reached out to Vance, their boss, he replied "Hi. Reach out to the foreman. They are responsible for the damages so they will have to take care of it. That's how we go about these situations." So I reached out to the foreman, and he replied that, because I was helping them with the boxes, I am as responsible as they are for the damages, so they won't reimburse anything. I asked if I'm responsible for their truck leaking water (most of the damage was water damage), but my question went without a reply. - Throughout the move, they were extremely slow. In total, it took them about 12 hours to move our 600-square-feet 2BR apartment. They finished around midnight. Four years ago, when we hired Advanced Moving Pros, it took them less than 6 hours. - We had three plants that were supposed to be moved to the new place. Once they packed the truck, one of the movers told me that "they can't take the plants because there's no more room". I later noticed they took one of our large drawers on the truck which was supposed to be thrown away (garbage) - but one of the movers said "Oh, I'm keeping it, that's for me." Had he not kept our drawer, there would have been room for at least two of our plants. So yeah, I would recommend you stay away from these guys. Highly unprofessional, and frankly, dangerous and illegal behavior. They damage your property, and instead of apologizing, they blame it on you (!)

When I offered disposable masks and gloves they declined and said they had their own. Two of them ended up wearing bandanas and one person put gardening gloves on. By the time they got the furniture to the new place I had a cracked bookshelf, scratched furniture, a broken lamp (they ripped off the light bulb with the socket, instead of untwisting the lamp), missing screws and a broken front door to the old place (they removed the door to move bigger furniture, when reinstalled the door would not close). They were supposed to refund a portion of the moving costs to fix/replace the damaged furniture and repair the broken door. After a week dodging my calls and messages, they finally responded after I posted a negative review to their thumbtack. Jose, the team lead had the nerve to tell me he did not appreciate the negative review, when he was the one ignoring my communications. Two months after the move, they refunded 2/3 of what they owed back. It has been another 3 months since and they are still not refunding the last 1/3. Vance, the owner is still not responding to my communications, much less Jose, the team lead who was present the day of the move. If you want to spare yourself the trouble of dealing with such unprofessional and dishonest people, find another moving company. DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY WITH THESE FOLKS.

The first time I moved it was snowing and they brought a shovel, dug out my walkway. The second time was a torrential rain day, they wrapped all furniture in plastic to keep it dry. I have heard of movers going slow to add extra time but these guys bust their asses and get the move done as quickly as possible. Super impressed! After a lot of reddit stalking and asking around I settled with SVEN moving because they gave me the cheapest quote, about $200 cheaper than Piece of Cake. The Good Much more affordable than others! + They were really fast! Though I'm sure that also had to do with the fact that all they did was put stuff into the truck, move them, and then take them up (both my buildings had elevators). The entire move took less than 2 hours, which is their minimum. + Virtual Customer Service leading up to the move was FANTASTIC. They responded to my emails very quickly as well as an urgent call I made the day before to request a very last-minute COI, which they sent around midnight later that night. They also proactively realized that my original move date was going to be on the same day as a World Cup match and offered a different day if I chose to, so that I wouldn't drive up the hourly rate while the truck sat in potential traffic. They also did a GREAT job of breaking down the cost so that I knew exactly what I was paying for and I always appreciate that. The Bad I definitely now understand why it was cheaper -- there was no packing help from them or disassembly whereas the quote from Piece of Cake included disassembly and reassembly + packing and boxes. When they moved my bed, they didn't wrap it in blankets in the room (they could've in the truck) which means that during the transpiration out of my old room and into my old room it was just exposed to open air-- this made me nervous because my bed wooden. + My desk didn't fit through the smaller door of the apartment I moved into, and I expected that they would disassemble and reassemble to take it into my room, but I was told that due to liability issues they are only able to do that for beds. My bed didn't even need that so they just moved that as a whole piece (a slab was unscrewed but I didn't really care about that). Anyways, I was thus stuck with a large and heavy desk in the middle of the living room that I had to quickly find a way to disassemble before my new roommates got home. Due to the cheaper price I'm not too mad about this, HOWEVER my dissatisfaction comes from the fact that the "liability issue" was NOT communicated to me beforehand. I actually emailed the company with the size of my desk and told them it may require disassembly, and to which they gave me a $45 quote for desk disassembly (which shows that they COULD HAVE disassembled it...) and then in a later email wrote "we most likely will not have to take apart the desk to safely transport it. As such I won't add the proposed disassembly fee to your quote." I would've HAPPILY paid the extra to not have had to deal with it myself-- it would've been a quick and easy 20-min task for 2 strong movers but with just me it wasted a lot of my time and energy. Ended up getting my boyfriend to help, but because we didn't expect this, we also had to hunt for the toolbox amongst my many bags and boxes. This is the reason I'm rounding down to 3 stars They also came an hour early which meant I had to rush home from previous plans I made with the original time in mind :') at least they were done very early lol As someone who appreciates cheaper pricing I definitely would still use them again to move my bed BUT with the heavy precaution that everything else needs to be disassembled on my own and that all my boxes need to be packed and ready to go (thank goodness I thought of doing that). If you want to pay extra for a truly no-hassle hands-off move, would definitely consider other companies!

They had 3 flights of stairs and just kept moving. They were polite, chatted with me and just did their job with amazing grace. Seriously! Up and down the stairs like nothing.
