The Chinese food scene in these parts is pretty poor for the most part. That doubles down on buffets. However we have eaten at Diamond Head a dozen times and the food has been excellent. The meats are always flavorful and tender and the vegetables perfectly cooked. The black pepper chicken is my favorite. While the buffet may be a touch smaller than most, the quality of food more than makes up for that. This is the best Americanized Chinese buffet in the area by far. read more

This was my first visit to Diamond Head Restaurant and it did not disappoint. I went at lunch time for the buffet. The price is reasonable and the restaurant has a very open and roomy atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious. I was able to enjoy many of my favorite foods, sushi, seaweed salad, salmon, imitation crab, mushrooms, zucchini, shrimp, hot and sour soup, beef broccoli etc. I purposely avoided the rice, noodles, and fried foods because I am trying to avoid carbs in my diet right now but it all looked very appetizing. Food was fine . Walked in on a very hot day 100 degree heat index , seemed warm in the lobby area but thought it was because close to the doors and super hot out . Was instructed I needed to pay first so I did then as being led to our table were informed of sorry air conditioning is still out . Should have been told that immediately absolutely ridiculous I mean i think they had 3 fans throughout the place which do nothing . The food is really good! But when ordering the buffet they weigh it. I've never in my life at all the places had to have it weighed. To me and friends I've talked to, it's unfair. we are already paying the buffet price. And we wanted the sauce in a separate container so it didn't spill out of the terrible foam floppy containers. They chargered us for the two sauce containers that's the sauce is suppose to come with. They even charged us for a soup! really?? All that stuff is suppose to come with the buffet. I think I'll not ever go there again, yes food was really good but to pay extra for stuff that's supposed to come with a buffet meal and have it weighed is really unfair to customers. Busy place. We usually order through the drive through. Junior Cashew Chicken combo which includes rice, chicken sauce egg roll and cheese wonton with a sprinkle of cashews and green onion on top. Tried the Jr Sesame Chicken combo in addition. It's equally as good as cashew. Give them a try. read more

This is based solely on cashew chicken to go. In my opinion it has pretty darn good cashew chicken! I get it w/ all white meat and sauce on the side to go. The chicken was nice and crispy and plump. The sauce was a tad bit heavy on the oyster sauce but overall it is good and right down the road from my parents house. read more

Thought I would give them one more chance.... chicken is still so dry... I broke the plastic fork they gave me off in the chicken. I ordered the general chicken and there was like no sauce on the chicken. It was like drizzled. The rice was soggy and clumpy. Don't give these people your business. They are so bad. My husband and I tried this place for the first time. We were a little skeptical due to the other reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. We didn't have any issue with cold food. Everything was pretty good. Nothing spectacular given that it is Chinese buffet. The highlights were the frog legs my husband firmly approved of, the crab ragoons were excellent, very creamy and had crab meat in them! I appreciated the plain fried rice since I don't like the onions or peas that tend to be in it. The price for fri night was 9.29 and that seemed a little pricey for buffet. DON'T do it. Bad reviews are valid. Dark and uninviting feel when you first walk it. Over $10 for lunch buffet. Has fewest number of dishes than any buffet I've been to in a very long time, possibly ever. Was not able to handle the pork. Some food was not hit as it should have been. Taking the time to write this while I'm here as I don't want to have to deal with it again later. A co-worker got sick last time he ate here but I thought I would give it a try. Chinese is my favorite type of restaurant but pizza from a gas station would be a better deal. Couldn't handle it in the end. Left half of the food I took on my small selection. Whenever we're in Republic we generally eat here. There's a good selection for everyone and it doesn't break the bank for us to take the family out to eat. If you're looking for a lot of sushi then this isn't the place for you. They have a very small amount it sushi available. Still a good meal for a good price. We tried this place last night because it's closer than Springfield. I kept reading about how cheap it was so even with all the negative reviews we took a gamble. It wasn't the worst I've ever had, but not worth the almost $9 per person we paid either. The fried rice was literally plain rice with a couple pices of egg which people pick out quickly, so basically plain rice. Also a guy followed me around the buffet staring at my plate & stirring everything behind me. Annoying!!!!! 3 stars because it's not the worst buffet I've ever been to, but I won't be going back either.
