Large buffet with something for everything in the average family. Lots of proteins: various forms of chicken, beef, and fish.  Many vegetables to please a parent if their child ate them. A decent, small salad bar that has dried cranberries (nice addition).  The 1000 Island dressing is fat free. They have a grill, and depending on the time, you can get breakfast items to steaks. Plastic gloves are provided throughout the restaurant for you to use while getting your food, but I noticed many people skipping using them. read more

Nothing really shines and some things are just bad, yet I still appreciate it for what it is. I went to dinner first and then a couple weeks later tried the breakfast. For dinner the highlight for me was the meatloaf. It had a nostalgic taste to it. It's crappy, kind of tastes like dog food, but I still kind of like none the less. The other standout was the dessert. A lot of them were surprisingly good. I tried going here on thanksgiving cause nothing else was open, but when I saw the line, I walked straight out. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it isn't. My wife likes the pot roast and the bourbon chicken. The fried okra would be good if it was actually hot. Last few times I have been there it was Luke warm. Same with mashed potatoes. The battered fried shrimp had a strange after taste I didn't eat the rest of it hush puppies were disappointing. Decided to try out the delivery service from the Golden Corral app. Every time I've ordered food from Golden Corral from their app, it wound up getting cancelled by the restaurant. This time the restaurant cancelled it AFTER the dasher supposedly picked up the order already and we never got our food. I'm never going to use their app again or even go to this restaurant for having my money stolen. I really hope the pending transaction doesn't go through, and if they do, I'm going to go through any channels i can find to get my money back. With a $15 price tag for all you can eat I don't expect sushi, but I know for $4 more than that you can get crab legs elsewhere. It seems as though they are focusing on the steak for this price. Catfish that's so dry you'd swear it was on the National Lampoons movie, deep fried items soaked in a bed of oil, meats laying in grease. Had a hard time getting the juice out as there was more juice than beans! I was able to get some roast but why did you have a spoon for the roast? Where was the fork? Was really hard to pick out or up small pieces. Your dessert area had very little desserts to choose from. Your bread pudding was disgusting! I tried your banana pudding but you had so much topping on it, that it tasted nasty! That's being nice about everything I tried to eat! I think of GC as the fast food of home cooking. The fried chicken is some of the juiciest, crispy chicken I've had. Real mashed potatoes and every vegetable you could ever want. Got to send kudos to the grill chef Andrew! The Man can grill medium rare, it's flavorful and tender. You don't often find a decent steak cooked properly that's not a steak house. As soon as you walk through the inviting doors you are sure to be greeting with the warmest smile. The person at the counter at which you pay is super happy and radiant. Although the wait can be long, it is well worth the amazing home-cooked food. The smell of this place is like that of a Baptist Church on fellowship Sundays. We had been in contact with them for over month before our wedding date and have emails confirming dates and times, as well as one on one phone calls where times and dates were discussed. Golden Corral is a love hate relationship. I love that it's a big buffet with a variety of food. One plate you can feast on a large cooked to order steak and the next plate could have your hot pizza slice sitting next to your mountain of nachos. And Golden Corral does desserts! They have dessert options that could easily satisfy any sweet tooth. I'm pretty sure Golden Corral has the only running chocolate fountain in Springfield, MO. It literally looks like a roaring waterfall of chocolate. But with all that said, I give it 3 stars because sometimes less is more and unfortunately to keep costs down (somewhat) taste and flavor and just sheer quality of the food is sacrificed. None of the items on the bar is gonna win a MasterChef trophy, in fact I'm sure if Gordon Ramsay came into Golden Corral to eat he would drop more F Bombs than ever and spit the food out as soon as it touched his tongue. But it is edible and it is decent. And it is worthy of its price. You can get a full 3 course meal for around 13 bucks. But that's only on the weekdays. Weekend prices goes up. Yes, you heard me right. Prices are different from the weekdays and weekends. Eater beware. You will be paying more on the weekends. And with an attraction such as Golden Corral, it does bring a crowd. This place is busy from open to close. Someone will always be in front of you and behind you. Being busy does have its disadvantages such as trying to keep the buffet bar clean and free from fallen food. A lot of times it seems cleanliness isn't important. So you will be exposed that. So in summary, you want lots of food, and it's on a weekday... then go for Golden Corral. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Springfield. They have a beautiful variety of dishes to choose from. I had a tempura battered fish fillet that was so good. Their mashed potatoes are spot on. My husband had a steak he said was very goo and very tender. The dessert area has cotton candy, ice cream, a variety if pies, cakes, bread pudding and a chocolate fountain. Two negative things would be my feet stuck to the bathroom floor and they need to work on their cooking techniques for cooking shrimp. I love shrimp but it just wasn't good.
