Love Em and Leash Em - Waiting for Patti to arrive!

We have a new Lab rescue, a youngster, full of energy, and were looking for a dog walker we could…read moretrust as our pets are family to us. Since we lost our last elderly rescue, our former dog walkers had retired so we found Patti, who unlike others I had called, immediately got in touch with me and scheduled a "meet and greet" to see if she'd be a good fit for our house. I can't speak highly enough of her. She's caring, professional, definately has working knowledge of dog behavior and we can rely on her, even when we had to make a schedule change on short notice due to an unexpected work trip. Our Lab just loves her, and waits for her patiently as soon as she senses it's about "that time" (with the same precision as "it's dinnertime!"

Patti took excellent care of my dog and my two cats while I was out of town for a weekend, and she sent texts and photos each time she visited, so I felt connected to my fur babies while I was gone. She brought the mail in, cleaned the cat box, and she even left an Easter basket of dog, cat and people treats for my pets and my three kids--from the Easter Beagle. When she came by to return the keys, my dog went bananas and was so excited to see her! It was so nice to know all my pets were comfortable and cared for in my home, and not in a crate in a place that was strange to them. It was also nice to know my house still had a dog inside it while I was gone--I really appreciated that extra feeling of security. Patti is the best! We'll be calling her every time we need care for our pets.

The owner of My Best Friend is very nice and all the groomers there are so detailed and also nice. My yorkies have gone to heaven but now i have this Maltese-chihuahua that's blind and even though i live in Los Angeles, whenever i travel to chicago to visit family, i bring my little blind dog to get groomed at My Best Friend because i trust them and because they do a very good job and listen to my requests. I always remind them she's blind to prevent any accidents and they are very cautious with her. Yesterday the groomer told me my little Eevee " is an angel, such a good dog." And yes, my dog loves being brushed and groomed because she used to be a homeless street dog before i adopted her and she appreciates the love and care ppl give her. Even though she's blind, she felt comfortable at My Best Friend and allowed them to groom her, which shows that they were gentle and loving towards her. The groomers are also very good at letting me know when she's done because i have to wait for her since i don't live in the area. But driving to Forest Park to get my baby groomed is so worth it. I have been taking my dogs, and my parents' dogs to My Best Friend since 2007 i believe. That's how i know who is the best for my fur-babies. Eevee before and after picture included. I requested a very short cut because it's almost June and getting hot. I also requested a nice trimmed face and extra short beard. Everyone, including Eevee, loves it.

We have a cat, which is super easy to take care of - all he needs are visits and love. We leave our cat with these caregivers so we know he's in good hands and so we don't have to stress out. Several of his visits this time were good, mostly had the same cat sitter and she seemed knowledgeable. The sitter that came right before we returned from our trip was new but that's nbd. We get home, check around the house as we usually do, go into the bathroom where his litter is kept. I'm baffled to see it's dark grey and dirty, surely not litter. Upon looking further I noticed the sanded grout bag near his litter box (we recently renovated our bathroom) was the culprit. This sitter took the bag of sanded grout and dumped it into his litter box. Our poor cat was using his box in filthy chemicals. I was livid. We looked up the particular grout and didn't clearly see if it was toxic to cats, but we're taking him to the vet as a precaution. Furthermore, our entire bathroom was coated in a layer of dark dirt, as well as parts of our house. I emailed them and left a voicemail voicing my concerns. They called back and the guy literally didn't let me say two words the entire time while saying he was sorry. He also said it was an honest mistake. I'm sorry but no. Sanded grout is clearly not litter and the litter in the box was completely different. Also once you saw it was clearly different or god forbid, looked at the bag - fix it immediately. Don't leave it there. It says ON THE BAG this is toxic. I can understand a simple mistake like not showing up a day we scheduled you or not scooping the box, but this? No. Absolutely not. They offered to pay for our vet visit, but we will also be charging them for the cleaning fees we will have from all the dirt and should be refunded our visit, at least for that day. We have recommended you to several of our friends, but we will no longer do this and we have let everyone know what happened. They will not be receiving our business anymore because we travel frequently and honestly, cannot handle the stress of knowing our cat, our child basically, is in danger. We have more reliable friends and honestly anyone who is intelligent enough to know the difference between litter and literally grout.

The sitters left notes in my apartment for each day. I think there should be a way to send the notes digitally, via app or text or something while you're gone, but I accepted just receiving an email after the first visit. Except that they didn't send me an email after the first visit. I had to email them and their response was "Oops we must have forgotten." I was 1000 miles away and couldn't do anything about it. The notes from the rest of the week make it seem like everything went well. They were very quick to charge my credit card for services rendered though! Second use: 0/5. When I originally set up my account with Out You Go, I requested visits on a total of 6 days. 5 of them consecutively and then 1 day about 2 weeks later while I was on a business trip. When I got home from the business trip, I noticed the food & water bowls were empty and the litter box was a disaster. I looked for a note from the sitter but there wasn't one. Because they didn't show up. Luckily, I was only gone a little more than 36 hours and left them with full bowls as I was leaving, but it's unacceptable. They were left alone with no food or water because Out You Go skipped their visit. I tried to call and speak to someone but got their out of office message. I also sent an email but have so far gotten no response. I have to say, for a company that charges $64/hour, I expect more. I will be searching for a new pet sitting service the next time I leave town.
