I was so disappointed to pay on a ring that I put on layaway for months and working overtime in order to pay off the ring and finally coming to the store to make the final payment only to discover they lost the ring. That's what I was told anyway. What's the use of doing a layaway if this company can't even keep track of merchandise. I will never do business at this store. The trust is gone. read more

This place was very RUDE and likes to rip people off! I went in because they said the buy Diamond rings which my mother gave me one and I wanted to see what the price was since I don't know much about jewelry. I'm a guy so I don't know much about rings but this ring is a 1 CT princess cut with baguette diamonds but the ring was made of sterling silver and not gold. So again not knowing anything the guy behind the counter looked at it and told me it's not worth anything but $10... excuses me!!! You know you could have just said I'm not interested or we will have to past but thanks for your time...!!! NO!!! They told me $10!! That made me feel like a big middle finger to my face... I felt humiliated by everyone there. This is ridiculous to treat someone like that let alone a customer. If they were only going to offer me $10 for my ring and I saw some that looked the same as I had, then they really are taking advantage of people. Avoid this business or purchasing. read more

The store was busy before it was closing on a weekday, always a good sign for a business. Came in for a watch battery replacement, which was done in a few minutes. I was dreading having to go to a jewelry store and wait around forever and deal with pushy sales people but Diamond Jim's was the complete opposite of what I expected. Highly recommend! read more

Too bad I trusted the reviews before I went in. Sold a .6 ounce 22k gold bracelet for around $330. I didn't know what purity it was before I went in. Come to find out it's worth at least $550-620. I'm all for making a profit but that's ridiculous. I would have been better off going to a pawn shop. Now I wonder if it wasn't 24k or what else I sold I was ripped off on. My sapphire set probably had diamonds that I just handed over. I guess all their good reviews are paid for. Live and learn. read more

I left the search in his hands and he did not disappoint. He located a vintage platinum and sapphire bracelet and gave me a great price for an exquisite piece. I don't know where to even begin... How is this even possible? My experience with the 16th Street location has been nothing short of disastrous. Came in for a loose diamond. My husband tried to surprise me with an "upgrade" by adding a halo and the work was poor quality and the diamond was still loose. Workmanship was shotty from the start. We ended up leaving it with the store to have it restored to its original post design. Long story short I made 2 more trips to have the ring fixed. My concerns were not taken seriously and I was told that no one would see the imperfections I pointed out. Its my ring, I should be proud when I look at. I have had my ring back about 1 month and I can't even wear it. They added so much gold filler or whatever its called and sautering that it is plyable and now warped. I have had this ring for 12 years and never has it lost its shine or shape until I brought it to their store. The salesman tried to say that the ring must not have been made with high quality workmanship because the diamond should have never come loose if was done properly. It's 12 years old, stuff shifts but not like the work they did.Why and how is this acceptable or better than original?? I am now stuck with a ring that I can not wear and have to take it someplace to see if this is even repairable. read more

I was gifted with jewelry that I returned due to the fact that I have more modern tastes. Could not get money back, only store credit which was hard because nothing was too appealing to me. I have had good experiences with all employees at both locations with the exception of Monica. I brought my earrings that I just purchased a few days ago for her to check out due to getting an ear infection. On the receipt it stated it was 14kt white gold, which turns out it was not. She told me repeatedly that I stripped the backings (they were the screw in type) and that I was allergic to the metal. I told her the receipt stated it was 14kt gold and she tried to upsell me posts anywhere from $50 to $200!!!! She went to the jewelry repair man onsite and they both spoke in their native language which I understand perfectly, she told him I stripped the backs and that they would not replace even though this was their mistake, not mine. She was very rude to speak to him in a different language (he speaks English just fine), she just did not want me to understand, she should have spoken to him in the back not in front of a customer like that, very unsettling and belittling. If you have jewelry to sell this is probably the place, but do not buy from Monica, if you have a problem, it's on you (and your pocket book!). I took the earrings to another local family owned jeweler who told me that the backings on the earrings needed to be adjusted which he did for free and suggested what to use to clear up my ear infection from the earrings, he stated I did not strip the backings as she told me over and over.....Money does not come easy to buy jewelry and customer service should be of the upmost priority, with her it was not! I found this business after the shoe repair that I was intending to go to had moved. I noticed the sign that said jewelry repair. Upon entering the store, the staff was friendly and welcoming. James was extremely polite and helpful in fixing a purse strap that came apart from its metal bracket. I am extremely impressed with the quality of work and atmosphere. As a big proponent of supporting local independent businesses I stopped in here on a whim to have a watch battery replaced and was pleasantly surprised. THe staff was super friendly and replaced my watch battery for next to nothing while I waited. While waiting I did have an opportunity to look at some of their jewelry- tons of beautiful pieces! Good thing he was done quickly or I may have walked out with a higher tab. But I would recommend this jeweler on customer service alone. Great place! read more

With all the recent news about the price of gold rising, I decided to go through all of my jewelry and get rid of everything - gold & silver - that I don't wear any longer. I took everyone's advice and took my little pink bag of jewelry to three different places for a price. The first one didn't buy silver but gave me a decent price for the gold, the third place gave me a price less than the first place but this was for everything - gold & silver. So I went back to the second place I visited - Diamond Jim's - and got a GREAT price and sold them everything. And while I was there I heard that their business had been mentioned on Channel 5 news the evening before saying that they were the "Good Guys" giving the best and most honest prices. I went in to sell a diamond that I was not going to get a chance to use and didn't need the reminder sitting in my drawer any longer! Jim was very friendly and thoroughly inspected my diamond before making an offer. It was a couple hundred under what I thought I may get (way way less than what I paid for it) but I understand everyone needs to make money. I took my original engagement ring in to have the stone reset. Once it was finished, and I took it home, I was not happy with the job that had been done. I went to Diamond Jim's because of all the reviews I read on Yelp. I had some old jewelry I didn't wear anymore and wanted to cash it in. They all were so friendly and helpful, from Curtis who showed me around the store, Marsha who gave me a diet coke and for James who did my quote for me, which was very fair. I ended up putting a new watch for myself in lay-a-way and used one of the ones I brought in as a down payment. I would highly recommend this place for buying/selling and to purchase, they had some awesome things at great prices. I took in 3 rings for repair and two watches for battery replacement. They replaced the watch batteries while I waited (10 min). Marsha assisted me with the rings. I've been in to Diamond Jim's three times now, and the third experience won me over as a lifetime customer. We purchased my wedding band from from James in late March, and they delivered it in plenty of time. It seemed to fit well, which was good, since my ring is made of an alloy that can't be resized. Unfortunately, a month after my wedding, the ring fell off my finger and was lost at work. When I came to James and Troy, and explained that I had been sized wrong and the ring slipped off, they contacted the manufacturer and had the correct size back in a week. I had expected to pay for my replacement, but hoped we could work a deal since I had been sized incorrectly at first. To my surprise, they replaced my wedding band at their own expense. After reading all the good reviews on how friendly and customer-centric this business is, I decided to have them replace my watch battery. Their battery prices range from approximately $5 to $15. They greeted me in a friendly fashion and estimated that my watch would need a $15 battery (it is a high end watch). While the battery was being replaced, my helper did everything she could to persuade me to purchase more items from the store, ranging from cleaning my watch to buying a diamond ring. She followed me to every display and kept trying to point me to items I might like. She mentioned how a usual jewelry store would charge $300 to $400 to clean my watch but they would ONLY charge $69. Even when I was about to leave she said she wanted to clean a portion of my watch (18K white gold) to show me how great it could look. She used a jewelry cloth and I thought to myself that I have many jewelry cloths and could easily clean my own watch for nothing. I am the type of customer that hates having any sales pressure put on me, even subtly, and would prefer to just look around at my own pace. If you don't mind having this pressure put on you, then you will get a battery for the price quoted, but there are many other places that won't apply such obvious persuasion. read more

this guy tried to scam me and my wife I sold a watch to him to help pay for a necklace that I wanted when it finally came in my wife went to go pick up necklace he told her a way lower number then what he offered me for the watch originally and what we agreed on so she ended up paying more than what we agreed on when she got home and told me how much she paid I was furious and went to confront him instead of making it right and giving us what he owed us he just decided to refund the whole thing so ended up with are money back and a huge waste of time I would never do business here and there selection in the store is terrible everything is old and outdated read more

If you have the need to sell jewelry Diamond Jim's is definitely the place to go. I had a diamond and sapphire wedding ring set that I have been looking to sell. The set was originally purchased at Shane co. After my devorce I attempted to sell them back to Shane co. I did not tell them. right away that I had purchased from them there just that I was looking to sell. They were very quick to tell me that they were poor quality and would only be able to offer me $150.00 for the set that cost me $3000.00. I had no illusions that I would get even a fraction of the original cost back but this was insulting. At Diamond Jim's they seemed genuinely concerned about offering me a very fair price. He explained to me how much he would be able to sell them for and how much he could offer me. In the end I ended up with over twice what Shane co. Offered.
