For some reason I always forget about Diamondback Grill but I stand firm in their food and service are outstanding! This was our third visit and it was nothing short of amazing. The service is fire - our waitress was so kind and prompt and had a smile on her face the entire time and I can really appreciate that. The interior is darkly lit so be aware of that while dining in. The food this go round was soooo good! We got the wings appetizer with mango habanero dry rub and the wings were perfectly crispy just how I like them. We also got the shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were MASSIVE. I also enjoyed the chili crunch and sauce that came with them. For our entrees we got the oyster po boy, burger, and patty melt. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the honey mustard I got for my sweet potato fries is made in house and so yummy. The oysters on the po boy were fried perfectly - I could have used a few more even if the price was raised. In all we've never had anything less than stellar food or service wise at Diamondback and we will continue to return! read more

Food, service and pricing were excellent! It's been so long since we tried Diamondback and I'm really glad we did the food was so good. Drinks were on point and we started with the artichoke dip and it was very tasty. I had the elevated sloppy Joe sandwich (if you can use elevated to describe a sloppy Joe) and boy it was good. I knew immediately it was OJ from the same tap that they probably get beer from. We asked for sodas for the kids but the soda was flat. I had to go to Buie next door and get an actual fizzy soda. The food was okay. Kids ordered cheese pizza but it tasted like a frozen pizza that was just heated up. They barely ate it. We adults all got ribeye sandwiches "Diamondback Steak" The ribeye was great but it wasn't cut into smaller pieces and the portion between bread and meat was not great (more bread than meat). I can't remember the type of bread but I did not think it was toasted nor the right to complement the deliciousness of the ribeye. When I think of hidden gems of Winston Salem this place always seems to be at the top of that list! The food here is by far some of the best in WS and you rarely hear anyone talk about it. Food -10. First I will apologize that I didn't take pics. I ordered the artichoke soufflé with crostini. It was rich, cheesy with a very satisfying flavor. When good food and service goes hand and hand. This is a cute hidden gem with great service and food. I had the 007 martini that was worth every penny, followed by some of the best cauliflower bites. They weren't heavily breaded or greasy. My main entree was the brown sugar tarragon salmon recommended by our waitress, that didn't disappoint. Their salmon is glazed with tomato paste which taste like ketchup with better flavor. My partner was pleased with the trout and roasted veggies. I have some dietary restrictions and my husband and I were visiting the area so I was delighted to find several good-looking options on their menu. We were seated promptly and our waitress was attentive the whole meal. There was a big party in before us which made our meal come slowly, but honestly it's so hard to find restaurants that can handle my dietary needs, I didn't mind. The waitress offered bread while we were waiting. When the food came, it was SO good. I ordered the paleo wagyu burger and wanted the napa cabbage rolls but they were out of those. This one of the best kept secrets in Winston-Salem. The Diamondback Grill offers everything from burgers and fries and other sandwiches all the way up to a great filet. I ordered the Sloppy Joe. It was delicious. Maybe a bit large, but I have come to expect that. Fries were great. There was a large variety of items ordered at our table. Everything came out quickly. Cooked correctly. Our server was spectacular. One member of our party had been there several times, and had dealt with the server before. We have been to the Diamondback several times over the years and I highly recommend it for special occasions, or just a casual dinner with friends. I've been here for a quick bite and also for full dinner with my family. All around, the food is decent but the reason we go here instead of some other spots is because of the Tuna Crudo. Overall, I have not been impressed with the quality of raw seafood in Winston - whether it be sushi or a crudo/tataki/etc offering but this Crudo is great! Last night was our first time trying this we'll recommend restaurant. We were pretty excited. I ordered the salted Carmel Martini- but our server Thomas (who I'm hoping is new) brought me out a chocolate one. Eventually I got the correct one. Sadly the chocolate one was actually better than the one I ordered. HaHa. Our Calamari was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, our main dishes came out at the exact same time as our appetizer, bummer! That's a pretty big peeve of mine. My very handsome date got the steak & potatoes (he ordered the Filet), it was cooked to perfection, but anyone who knows a GOOD filet knows it melts in your mouth, this one not so much. It was definitely a tougher chew. Interestingly enough it's the same price for the filet as it is for the ribeye. I had the tuna & the spicy shrimp. Both were good & for the tuna being frozen & our location, I've definitely had worse, but I've also had MUCH better. I likely wouldn't order it again. We had the bread pudding for dessert & it is served cold, which caught me off guard as I've only ever had bread pudding that was warm. It was delicious though! Our water sat empty entirely too long, in fact I had to ask Thomas for refills. The table next to us was having a lot of issues with Thomas as well. The ambiance is nice, the cafe side & the bar side are like two different restaurants in one. It's very interesting. Overall- we'll give it another shot. read more

Hate to give three stars because I really anticipated this being a five star restaurant but it is what it is. Appearance of restaurant was nice and everyone was friendly. Had a reservation and they sat us immediately which was awesome but now to the concerns. Thomas was very friendly but failed to pay attention to details. Cocktails are slow to come out and my basic Jack and diet was mediocre, definitely on the low side of alcohol to soda ratio (unlike the drinks at Fratellis and etc). He took our appetizer order and also our entree orders at the same time (no problem with that) but unfortunately they all came out at the same time. I think it's safe to say Thomas is new or was distracted and having an off day. Make no mistake he was very friendly and apologetic so I hope this was a one off. The Calamari was delicious!!! I ordered the steak and potatoes and was given the choice of ribeye or filet (not stated on menu) and I chose filet which was a mistake. The meal was delicious and cooked as ordered but it was one of the chewiest filets I have ever had at a nice restaurant (Jeffery Adam's filet melts in your mouth, a lot of good choices in Winston for it also) which was disappointing. We had to ask for more water and I also forgot to mention my wife's cocktail was wrong initially, poor Thomas could be heard apologizing constantly to table next to us. Again I think he may be new, he really is polite. We decided to get dessert and just my luck they were out of our first choice, which happens, so we got the bread pudding. Dessert was good but didn't seem to match the description. It had cranberry pieces in it but menu stated mango, lol, but it was still good. We will definitely try it again (but NO filet) because I feel like this maybe just a one off but will definitely request to sit on the Cafe side which appears to be nicer. Ps. I have heard one of the best waitresses (Leslee) from the Liberty restaurant in Lewisville is starting here in a week. First wine dinner at Diamondback, what a deal this one was and the food and wine were excellent. The Argentinian wine dinner, lasted about 2 hours, the servers here were awesome, the chef outstanding. The wine company that paired the food with the wine, were very knowledgeable about what worked , and I was surprised at how different the wines were by themselves and then with the food. Found out about this on their Instagram page, only $45 plus tax and gratuity. Amazing price for what you got, 4 courses, 4 full pours of wine. They hosted this dinner in their side dining area away from the rest of the open restaurant which was nice. We got to meet some really nice people on our table, love meeting new foodies. First course was a Ensalada Maria, baby arugula, oyster mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, sun dried tomatoes, and a olive oil and white balsamic dressing. So fresh, light and perfect start. Love these meaty oyster mushrooms! Paired with a white wine from Mendoza, Revolution Torrontes. Nice dry, light. Second course, chorizo empanadas, not usually my thing but these were so good, light flaky melt in your mouth pastry, opinions, peppers, chorizo, mozzarella, with a chipotle aioli, spicy but just the right amount, the chorizo was nice and smoky. Paired with a fabulous red blend, also from Mendoza, Bodegas Renacer Milamore, nice, rich, dry, worked so well with this course. Third course, Entrana con chimichurri Roja, grilled ancho skirt steak, saffron rice, and broccoli rabe. Again outstanding. The steak cooked just like I like it, pretty rare, the chimichurri was delicious with it, and I loved the seasoned rice. The wine was my favorite, a red blend, Monte Quieto Enlace, spicy, dry, again paired so well with the course. Forth course, Argentinian flan, not usually my pick on a dessert, but this was different, firmer, not sweet, with a great caramel sauce, really liked this when I thought I wouldn't. Not your typical flan. Paired with a Chandon garden spritz, slightly sweet, because of that fact was my least favorite, but a good dessert pairing. You could buy any of the wines at cost that night and then pick up when they call you. Great deal on these really nice wines. The portions were such a good size too, not quite tastings small, but not entree size, but just a great serving for each person. This was such a fun night, trying new things with great wines. Looking forward to coming to the next one. Love that they are doing these again. If you can do one of these or just come to eat here anyway, such a great place, with great food. I liked Diamondback, but I won't be coming here often. I do feel like the prices were a little steep for the casual neighborhood bar that it is. I got one of the burgers which was really awesome. The burger was so juicy and flavorful and the patty was perfectly cooked. It was served with some type of candied thick cut bacon which was out of this world as well as pimento cheese (one of my favorites). We also enjoyed the appetizer crab hush puppies which were quite tasty. I really did enjoy their dipping sauces too! One drawback - We ordered off the summer featured menu and there were several typos/discrepancies. A friend of ours ordered the pork chop listed on the summer special menu for $15 and when the bill came, her meal was actually $28 (full price). That was very falsely advertised which is unfortunate. I feel like the waiter should have pointed that out. You should try Diamondback, and see what you think! read more

Diamondback Grill was an absolutely amazing!!!! I highly recommend this place! I invited my family here to celebrate my birthday and boy oh boy, everything was perfect! Our waiter was patient, kind and knowledgeable about the menu and the other staff was also super friendly and did not hesitate to interact with us. My family and I throughly enjoyed our food, everything was super tasty, well seasoned, and plated nicely. We will be back! Also, the atmosphere was clean. After a year of being back in the area, I believe we found a weekly hangout. Never went to this restaurant before we left, we went to another well known place (which unfortunately has changed drastically and not for the good.). On the other hand, the service was phenomenal at Diamondback and the food was incredible. The area we sat in was more sports bar like, but they have other seating areas including outside. The calamari appetizer was great, wife's cosmopolitan was perfect. We it 1/2 off bottle night and tried one of their South African wines, it was just what was needed. We had the Ribeye and Shrimp and Grits. The Shrimp and Grits had the best presentation and most flavor of any I've had. Finished off with the bread pudding. We will be back! read more

Went to DB grill on Avalon Road 4/24. 3 adults. Between 6 - 7 Ambiance was mixed. Music was playing while televisions were also playing. Were sat at a 4 top. Table was very small, chairs extremely uncomfortable. ( Wooden straight backed). Dinner plates were too large for the table. Our plates lacked touching by a few inches. No room to place drinks at top of plate. I honestly don't know how the table could have accommodated another plate, comfortably. Also, our table was extremely close to the table next to us. I could have reached the table behind with my hand very easily. Ordered the Lump Crab Hushpuppies, for the table. Honey Butter provided did not pair well with the dish. The bit of sauce on plate was delicious, but not enough to put on hushpuppies. Ordered the Gambas. Was disappointed that I could not substitute crab for more shrimp. Had it prepared with chicken. The dish was surprisingly very oily. Balsamic reduction was over powering. 2/10. Would not recommend it. First Dinner mate ordered the trout and he said it was perfect! 10 out of 10! Fish cooked to perfection. Sides were yummy! Second dinner mate order the market pork chop. He enjoyed the sides. Order the Pork Chop Medium Well. States it was dry. There was nothing extraordinary about our server. She was friendly but kept apologizing for "the wait" ( there was none) We didn't have to wait long for our appetizer or our dinners. The restaurant appeared to be very clean. I did not use the facilities, so I can't comment on that. Diamondback grill has been on my "must list" for years. All in all I was very disappointed by the experience. The meal was pricey, but I am willing to pay for quality food. Will I go there again, MAYBE ( big maybe). We decided to try Diamondback this past Friday night because we were on that side of town. The host was definitely less than welcoming. We didn't have a reservation, so he stated it would maybe be between 30 minutes and an hour wait. We said fine-we'll grab a drink at the bar and he stated that we could not do that because the bar was "full". (I've never been told we cannot spend money while waiting for seating). So we went next door to the bar at Buie's market while waiting-and they were great-go check them out! We waited about 30 minutes and received a call that our table was ready. We were seated and our waiter was great. We ordered the spicy shrimp, lobster hush puppies, and oysters on the half shell. Here's where things really took a turn-the oysters tasted like dead fish. Straight up-so gross. We returned them and they easily comped them from our bill. We decided to try out the shrimp and grits and are so glad we did-they were DELICIOUS!
