Stopped by to grab some dinner with my FIL. The same name sake didn't make it over by us. I recall the food was okay, but same pricey for what you get. Let's hope the original is better. Ordered crab cakes, diamonds signature steak salad, Chesapeake crab cakes, blackened Atlantic salmon up charge for truffle fries and up charge for Mac & Cheese, add on Scallops, small side of French onion soup and a small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette. $113.12 The calamari is tender, slightly soggy exterior, tender at least. The horseradish gives the plain cocktail sauce a bit of kick. The sweet sauce wasn't to any of our liking. The crab cake was full of crabs, exterior was crunchy. The French onion soup is good, but there seems to be more cheese on the outside of the cup than the inside with the soup. They let you pick out your choice of steak knife. My FIL picked the Paudin Carbon stainless steel. The side salad looks so drab and boring, romaine looks colorless. I literally got balsamic vinegar only for the salad. :/ I asked for some olive oil. The blackened salmon is good, nicely cooked. The Mac & cheese is good, starting to really like the cork screw pasta more and more. The scallops are perfectly cooked, meat is tender, but quite salty. The truffle fries are good. Service was good overall.

I have eaten here 2 or 3 other times and looked forward to a nice meal. Ordered the Ribeye that was advertised at 28 day dry aged. Also had smashed potatoes and steakhouse mushrooms. The server brought me the wrong entree 2 times before the correct one and my wife the wrong one as well. Steak was flavorless and dry, so we're the mushrooms and potatoes. The carrot cake is normally the star of the show, it was overrated and dry. Server never cleared our entrees and brought out the dessert before doing so. Not not a great dining experience. Sorry to see the decline in this place. We were given a percentage off of the meal plus a gift card but do not plan to hurry back here. Many other better choices in Howell

Diamonds is a classic choice anytime I'm in the area visiting my friends! It is located right in the heart of downtown Howell and is typically pretty easy to dine in on short notice. The food and service are always exceptional, and you enjoy the rich, dim lighting that gives intimate and family friendly vibes without the prices of a high-end steakhouse. My friend ordered the filet salad which was huge for an entree salad and packed with flavor- she had a good portion left to take home. One of my highlights is their house-made champagne vinaigrette for their salads and the delicious salmon entrée! My only thought was the salmon piece was a bit small for the dinner portion this time, which I don't recall being an issue in the past, so maybe it was just the particular piece that I got that day. We were celebrating my birthday, and our server was so thoughtful and offered me a complementary dessert. I decided on the butter cake that was flambéd table side. Such an elegant treat and experience to complete the meal! I also highly recommend the carrot cake.

It's good. Not great. Absolutely fantastic server. I don't think I'd hike out to Howell for it again but I had a nice experience. Basic salads but delicious dressings. Id opt for Caesar nect time, they looked better. The freebie rolls were very nice with the sweet honey butter. I had lobster risotto which was really tasty. Creamy and the rice was perfect. Just enough toppings to make it texturally interesting but not take it over. My husband liked their shrimp pasta creation but thought the crab cakes on it had way too much breading and found the asparagus woody and stringy. He was disappointed. The carrot cake was perfection. Warm and nutty with a generous amount of frosting. It was tasty without being overly sweet. Gooey and satisfying.

This was our first time back in probably 10 years. I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was, from the bread to the salads to the entrees and cocktails. The mixed grill and ribeye were outstanding. Service was great as well - never waited or wanted for anything. Ambiance was fantastic, as we sat outside and people watched on Grand River. Super enjoyable dinner and we'll definitely be back - much sooner this time!

We were able to sit outside on a nice summer night on the patio area. The service was quick and friendly but it was about 10 pm so there weren't many other people there eating. We started with the nut crusted Brie with berry compote. It was delicious but very sweet- the pita chips were covered in Cinnamon sugar and honey. I ordered the steak brazzo for my entree and it was good but was expecting more meat. I did like the mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce that it came with. My boyfriend got the steak skewers which come with a sweet chili sauce which tasted a little spicy for the record.

Mothers Day Brunch! The dinner portion hours. $500 for horrible, cold, dry, season less, boxed/canned food. I try to find the good in something, anything but there wasn't a thing. All 6 guest have agreed. Anytime no one goes for another portion, that says it all. I did go back to check out the dessert choices: all China Buffet type choices. Menu; crab cakes, noodles, beef stroganoff (no beef), skewered chicken, carved ham and roast beef, etc. No burners were in use to keep any of the food at at least room temperature! Service was very good. Waitress was quite attentive to our group. Ambiance is quite possibly good during normal business. Oh yeah, the red potatoes with parsley were 1"x1" burned/hard cooked.

    Carrot cake to go

Called ahead for carrot cake after an amazing dinner at another establishment. We did not have a reservation at Diamonds and our only option was dining at the bar. We opted to go elsewhere for dinner. We were excited for the carrot cake as we've indulged previously and the piece of cake was more than enough for two people. When we got home and opened the bag like children on Christmas morning, we were a bit disappointed in the portion of our carrot cake this go-round. When you are paying $10 for a piece of carrot cake, I feel it better be far better than anticipated. Don't get me wrong, the carrot cake tastes amazing; the portion size for the $10 price tag was a bit of a let down.

We moved to the Howell area 2014 and have watched and enjoyed the redevelopment and expansion of Diamond's and other Adam Merkel restaurants. Sadly Diamond's has declined to a level of mediocrity in their products and service that are insulting at their price point. My family and I frequented Diamond multiple times on a weekly basis prior to the pandemic and did our best to support and understand the lack of quality during the pandemic. But, after our most recent experiences over the last year it's clear that Diamonds has lowered its standard while raising its costs. I present to you a $45 filet mignon, $15 Rangoons and 3 pieces of steak for $17. What used to be a go to for fine dining with elevated tastes has fallen so far that I hope this review is a warning to all that read it. Costs are rising, wages are rising and we understand that however as the price points raise we still expect and deserve quality product and service. You've failed to elevate the latter with the former. Based on my previous attempts to reach management via in person, email and phone calls I highly doubt this review will be considered by anyone other than the viewers looking for a decent meal. Run. These diamonds are zirconia.

I'm taking my son out for lunch tomorrow for his birthday. At 1:00 do they have the regular menu available, or just the brunch buffet? Also will sushi be available then?

Just brunch and they offer only one featured sushi item a day not during brunch.

We got the spinach artichoke cheese dip, calamari, beer flight, fish tacos, sliders, truffle fries, power bowl with blackened salmon. Too bad their Fog's Mac & Cheese comes with bacon and pulled pork, but it was possible to replace the meats grilled chicken with no up charge. They wouldn't let my FIL have two cheeses on his slider without added fees. Our dinner portion was $99.64. The spinach cheese dip is light on spinach and rather salty. It's so-so. I spilled the mason jar as it slipped out of my hand back onto the table. Oops. The water dumped enough all over the table and our dip and chips too. Guess we are done eating that then. We cleaned it up the best we could with the thin dinner napkins. No one came back by this check up on us and take care of the now water logged table. We should have put in our order earlier. The calamari is too bad, the meat is tender. Crust is just slightly crunchy. The fries are maybe a bit undercooked, wilted too. The sliders are good. The fish tacos aren't bad, meat is still tender. The rice is blah. The Mac & Cheese is good, creamy. Cavatappi noodles are a great noodle for this dish, holds creamy goodness in each bite. The grilled chicken is dry. The power bowl is meh, the veggies seemed to be sautéed in the sweet chili sauce, not for me, would have rather have a soy sauce based sauce for this power bowl. It was way too sweet for me. The blackened salmon is not too bad, although a tad dry. Service got better after our order was placed, the start of it wasn't so good.

Our server was polite but not friendly, and not particularly engaging or helpful. She did not explain the menu, mention any specials, or offer recommendations. For a restaurant that positions itself as a fine dining experience, we expected a higher level of service and attentiveness. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer. It was decent, but there was so much going on with the dish that the tuna itself seemed lost. For my entrée, I ordered the Braised Short Rib. It was absolutely delicious and was the highlight of the meal. However, it was served over a fried potato component that was extremely disappointing. It was overcooked, lacked flavor, and did not complement the dish at all. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye steak. He rarely orders steak at restaurants because he cooks excellent steaks at home, but he decided to try one at a restaurant known for fine dining. Unfortunately, the steak was the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was bland and lacked even basic seasoning. The menu states that the steaks are served with the restaurant's signature zip sauce, but none was served with his meal. For a $68 ribeye, we expected much more flavor and attention to detail. For the first time ever, he did not finish his steak. When we expressed our concerns, the manager came over, apologized, and removed the steak from our bill. We appreciated that gesture and felt the manager handled the situation professionally. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and upscale, the music selection felt out of place for the fine-dining atmosphere they appear to be creating. The energetic classic rock/pop playlist distracted somewhat from the elegant ambiance and didn't match the level of sophistication reflected in the décor and pricing. Fine dining isn't just expensive food on fancy plates. It's consistency. It's a server who knows the menu inside and out. It's attention to detail. It's a steak arriving perfectly seasoned and exactly as described on the menu. It's the feeling that every part of the experience was intentional. This was a huge miss.

The menu offers a lot of delicious options, and both my husband and our friend loved the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. I ordered the Salmon, which was okay. The Spanish Coffee was one of the best I've had. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was how my food allergies were handled. I had included my dietary restrictions in our reservation and also called the restaurant the night before to make sure they could accommodate me. I was reassured after they checked with the kitchen that most items on the menu could be modified to work within my restrictions. Based on that conversation, I felt comfortable keeping our reservation. Since we were dining with others for a birthday celebration, I had hoped the information from my reservation and phone call would have been communicated to our server so I wouldn't need to go through all of my restrictions again at the table. Instead, I had to explain everything during dinner. Because the restaurant is extremely loud and the tables are packed closely together, our server had to stand across the table from me, which meant having to discuss my allergies loudly in front of our entire party and the surrounding tables. It was an uncomfortable and awkward situation. What was most frustrating, however, was then being told that my options were essentially limited to a protein and green beans. This was a far cry from what I had been told the night before that the kitchen could modify most items on the menu to accommodate me. I completely understand that not every restaurant can accommodate every allergy or dietary restriction, and I don't expect them to. My concern is that I specifically called ahead for this reason and relied on the information I was given. Had I been told beforehand that my options would be so limited, we simply would have chosen another restaurant where I could enjoy a nice meal along with everyone else for my husband's birthday. For anyone dining with significant food allergies or restrictions, I would recommend getting very specific information about what can actually be accommodated before making a reservation.
