We ate here Friday night with another couple, and unfortunately, it was a really disappointing experience. I ordered the steak tip salad, since steak tips seem to be one of the things the restaurant is known for. Unfortunately, the steak was extremely stringy and fatty, to the point that I couldn't eat it. My husband ordered one of the steaks that was advertised as being dry-aged, and unfortunately he had a similar experience. He found it very dry, with virtually no juices, and said it tasted more like it had been frozen than properly aged. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself had an old, dingy smell that really took away from the overall experience. We were hoping for a good dinner out with friends, but unfortunately, none of us left feeling like the food or atmosphere justified the experience. While attending Melon Fest today, we decided to try this restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a bad call. I ordered the chicken teriyaki, and the chicken was dry as a desert and tasted like it had been microwaved. The Caesar salad was basically just lettuce with almost no dressing. My brother-in-law ordered a burger and, halfway through eating it, realized they had forgotten to remove the wax paper from the burger. To top it all off, after getting home, both my wife's and my stomachs have been doing circus acts--rumbling, flipping, and generally unhappy with what we ate. Based on our experience, this was definitely not a quality meal, and there appear to be serious challenges in the kitchen. It will be our first and last visit. We visited for our one-year wedding anniversary. I had only been here once before, and after this visit I was reminded why I hadn't returned. We'd heard mixed reviews but decided to give it another chance since it was close to home and seemed like a nice option for a special evening. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and we were seated right away. Unfortunately, no one came to our table for quite some time. After about 10 minutes, a member of the wait staff stopped by to ask if anyone had helped us yet. When we told them no, they quickly got someone over to take care of us. My husband and I both ordered the filet. He chose soup and fries, while I had the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. My filet was cooked perfectly, but his came out much rarer than the medium temperature he ordered. To their credit, they took it back and prepared a new one that was cooked correctly. The biggest disappointment, however, was the steak itself. Despite being cooked properly, both filets were extremely bland and lacked any noticeable seasoning. It honestly tasted like the meat had simply been placed on the grill with no effort to enhance the flavor. For a restaurant that specializes in steak, we expected much more. The highlight of the evening was the complimentary dessert they provided to celebrate our anniversary, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated. Overall, while the staff corrected the cooking issue and the dessert was a nice touch, the service delays and lack of flavor in the meal made the experience disappointing, especially considering the price. Ordered crab cakes, diamonds signature steak salad, Chesapeake crab cakes, blackened Atlantic salmon up charge for truffle fries and up charge for Mac & Cheese, add on Scallops, small side of French onion soup and a small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette. $113.12 The calamari is tender, slightly soggy exterior, tender at least. The horseradish gives the plain cocktail sauce a bit of kick. The sweet sauce wasn't to any of our liking. The crab cake was full of crabs, exterior was crunchy. The French onion soup is good, but there seems to be more cheese on the outside of the cup than the inside with the soup. They let you pick out your choice of steak knife. My FIL picked the Paudin Carbon stainless steel. The side salad looks so drab and boring, romaine looks colorless. I literally got balsamic vinegar only for the salad. :/ I asked for some olive oil. The blackened salmon is good, nicely cooked. The Mac & cheese is good, starting to really like the cork screw pasta more and more. The scallops are perfectly cooked, meat is tender, but quite salty. I have eaten here 2 or 3 other times and looked forward to a nice meal. Ordered the Ribeye that was advertised at 28 day dry aged. Also had smashed potatoes and steakhouse mushrooms. The server brought me the wrong entree 2 times before the correct one and my wife the wrong one as well. Steak was flavorless and dry, so we're the mushrooms and potatoes. The carrot cake is normally the star of the show, it was overrated and dry. Server never cleared our entrees and brought out the dessert before doing so. Not not a great dining experience. My friend ordered the filet salad which was huge for an entree salad and packed with flavor- she had a good portion left to take home. One of my highlights is their house-made champagne vinaigrette for their salads and the delicious salmon entrée! My only thought was the salmon piece was a bit small for the dinner portion this time, which I don't recall being an issue in the past, so maybe it was just the particular piece that I got that day. Ordered Prime Rib on a Friday night which is supposedly only available on Friday and Saturday. My reservation was between 6-7p. Food took almost an hour to hit the table and they served up what seemed like last weeks Prime Rib, I ordered rare/mid rare and got the worst most dry prime rib ever. It had to be from last week, that's how bad it was. I asked if I could get another that was actually rare and they said it was the last one. I don't believe for a second that they even cooked any prime rib that night, how could it be out before 7? They took it off the bill but I left hungry cuz it was no good to eat. Just enough toppings to make it texturally interesting but not take it over. This was our first visit to Diamonds. The wait staff was very nice and doing the best they could to make the experience good. Our reservation were at 6:30pm on New Year's Eve, it was also our 15 Wedding anniversary. My wife and I are seasoned restaurant customers with many steak and seafood establishments. Stared with spinach dip and shrimp ceviche. Both dishes met expectations. Next we both had a salads with blue cheese. The lettuce was very limp and chewy, the blue cheese was ordinary. We both had lobster soup but it was so salty we didn't eat it. We ordered a dirty martini and a regular martini. The waitress apologized for serving them in a short bar glass because at 6:45 the restaurant was already out of martini glasses. The main courses were ribeye with shrimp, and ribeye with scallops. One steak was ordered medium rare which came medium well, and the steak ordered medium came extremely well done. We both didn't want to make a new years eve and anniversary dinner upsetting so we are less than twenty five percent of our steaks. After the table was cleared the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. We thought how bad can a slice of carrot cake be for something to eat so we ordered a slice to go. Maybe do to such poor door experience we thought the cake was average at best. I normally don't write reviews but this experience was very poor and expensive at $220.00, very poor quality food. We were able to sit outside on a nice summer night on the patio area. The service was quick and friendly but it was about 10 pm so there weren't many other people there eating. We started with the nut crusted Brie with berry compote. It was delicious but very sweet- the pita chips were covered in Cinnamon sugar and honey. I ordered the steak brazzo for my entree and it was good but was expecting more meat. I did like the mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce that it came with. My daughter got a side of the Brussels and stole a bit of my husband's steak, and absolutely loved it (especially the Brussels). Now my picky son got the Alfredo pasta.... All 6 guest have agreed. Anytime no one goes for another portion, that says it all. I did go back to check out the dessert choices: all China Buffet type choices. We opted to go elsewhere for dinner. We were excited for the carrot cake as we've indulged previously and the piece of cake was more than enough for two people. When we got home and opened the bag like children on Christmas morning, we were a bit disappointed in the portion of our carrot cake this go-round. Sadly Diamond's has declined to a level of mediocrity in their products and service that are insulting at their price point. My family and I frequented Diamond multiple times on a weekly basis prior to the pandemic and did our best to support and understand the lack of quality during the pandemic. But, after our most recent experiences over the last year it's clear that Diamonds has lowered its standard while raising its costs. I present to you a $45 filet mignon, $15 Rangoons and 3 pieces of steak for $17. What used to be a go to for fine dining with elevated tastes has fallen so far that I hope this review is a warning to all that read it. Costs are rising, wages are rising and we understand that however as the price points raise we still expect and deserve quality product and service. You've failed to elevate the latter with the former. With the name Diamond's Steak and Seafood and the seemingly upscale appearance for a small town eatery, I was quite disappointed in my recent dining experience there. I ordered the ribeye medium fully expecting a decent cut of ribeye at the 39.00 price tag. A reasonable price for a good ribeye....that was not the case. The steak was about a 1/2" thick at best and overdone and tasted more like a lean sirloin than a ribeye. Perhaps they do other fare well but in my estimation they need to up their steak game to a better cut of meat (or sourcing?) . We were really disappointed with our trip to Diamonds. Some things about the restaurant are really cool, for example, they partner with local businesses to source a lot of their menu items locally. Their pasta is one example. Their bread is locally made too, and very good. We made reservations, but there was still a little bit of a wait. We paid a lot extra to get the dry aged New York strip, which I thought would have been impressive. It was such a disappointment. It was severely overcooked. The beef stroganoff, on the other hand, was really good. Their famous steak tips are mixed with a yummy sauce and pasta. We got the carrot cake for free as a yelp check in, and I am glad it was for free because I definitely would have been mad if we had paid for it. I was pregnant so wanted a steak tip salad while we were in the area, we got there right when they opened. I asked for medium well steak on my salad and they came out completely charred. I complained right away and they brought a new salad out, again... very charred. It was so charred that it was gross to eat. I couldn't finish my salad. The waiter was super nice & offered us free dessert, he also noticed I didn't eat the salad so he took it off the bill. The free dessert we got was the butter cake, it was also super dry & not how it used to taste 5 years ago. Overall disappointed in the whole experience & food. German tomato soup was ice cold. Perch was drowned in oil and tasted like absolutely nothing. Filet was ordered medium rare and looked and tasted like it was cooked in an old fashioned betty crocker oven with the light bulb, way to rare. YUCK. BUT all was not lost. My wife did get the steak tips that she seemed to like, so I guess it worked out at least she had a good dinner.
