These chocolates are amazing. They are all delicious but nothing and I do mean nothing hold a candle to the truffles! They are absolutely addictive! Wow is it a hole in the wall. Stopped by last Tuesday and met the son of Diane! he was a really nice and helpful man. The store is really small, don't expect seeing chocolatiers expertly tempering anything! Diane's son i'm so sorry for forgetting your name but you were so nice!!! We bought the caramel melts, the hot chocolate powder, the mixed teddy bear snacks, and the small cube truffles. Caramel melts are really good, and the hot chocolate powder isn't overly sweet. Mixed teddy bear snacks are from milk dark and white chocolate -- honestly didn't care for it. The truffles easily melt in the mouth but have this little alcoholic aftertaste i personally don't vibe with. We also got the hazelnut truffles and THOSE i could eat in one sitting!! Out of everything we bought, i would get the hazelnut truffles again :) overall, a nice place to get a fancy gift for yourself or a loved one! I hate to go against what the last several reviews have put as an overall rating. First and foremost, this place is a cute little trendy shop located at Malibu Country Market. Person working was extremely friendly and helpful to all employees that popped in to check out what this place was about. A pretty good selection is available and not just chocolate bars/bites. They also have some hot chocolate that was pretty intriguing. Now, for the three star part. I would say that $15 for basically a king size candy bar (maybe slightly larger) is expensive, but if it sets the gold standard for a chocolate bar, it's an indulgence I can live with. That being said, it was a good candy bar, but nothing to write home about. The Earth, moon and sun didn't come into alignment as we bit into a magical creamy milk chocolate bar. $15 for something that sets the gold standard wouldn't be horrible, but for something that is basically similar to what I've had at a far lower price. I would come here again, I wouldn't go out of my way, but I'd stop back by here. If you're in the area you should try them out, you may think differently than I do with regard to it being the best chocolate you've ever had. read more

K Chocolatier has been my "go to" chocolatier when I am in town and want chocolates for my friends and family. I have been buying their truffles since my first L.A. trip. The previous day, I called the Beverly Hills location to get the cost of local delivery. Because of the summer weather, the cost would be $45 which is the price of their truffles. Fortunately, I had plans to be in the vicinity of their Malibu store. Because of the 80F temperatures, I waited until I was heading back to the hotel to buy a box. The employee was very helpful. She grabbed a bag of goodies (aka truffles) from the fridge and packaged it in a wooden container. I opted for the $5 wooden container rather than the free one because it is reusable. May be it was the heat, but when the employee offered samples, I foolishly declined. As long as I have chocolate-loving relatives in L.A., I will continue make a detour here in Malibu. read more

My husband and I along with our good friends were celebrating my birthday this past Sunday. We spent the afternoon in Malibu and I wanted to buy our friends some krön chocolate as a thank you. It's a very tiny store that can only fit maybe 4 people maximum. It felt very claustrophobic. The young gal working behind the counter greeted us, but that's where the niceties ended. I said I have Celiac and asked if anything was gluten free. She said the truffles they were sampling were, and after I ate one she said "well, um..maybe not. But I dunno. But I don't know why a truffle would have gluten." Ok...now I'm livid. I explained this is a serious allergy, not a preference and I'm going to be sick because of her error. Out of curiosity about the extent of her incompetence, I asked if anything in the store was actually gluten free. She said she was sure everything else was. I double checked their website which doesn't list any ingredients or allergen information. I was so upset by this point that I wanted to pay and leave. My husband and friends stepped outside and the gal asks me "are those your parents?" Meaning our friends. They most certainly don't look like I could be their child. And even if I was, that was inappropriate to ask. Not long after, I became very ill and had to immediately be taken home. I spent the following day in bed, very weak and completely incapacitated. Thank goodness it wasn't bad enough to go to the ER, but that's not how I wanted to spend my birthday. read more

Cute little boutique in Malibu Cross Creek area for some of the very best chocolates. My favorite is the chocolate truffles - so creamy, chocolatey but not overly sweet. What a treat. The pecan crisps and snowballs ( chocolate and chopped hazelnuts) are new items and so so good! The dark chocolate cherry and chocolate blueberries are also newish items and equally delicious. Another favorite are the chocolate teddy bears! The chocolates are pricey- but make a great gift for someone special and more of a special treat for me. We were looking for a place to pick up a little gift before we left Malibu and thought we had lucked out when my husband said, "let's try the chocolate shop." We're so glad we did. The lady working in the shop (whose name now escapes me) was so helpful and kind. The shop is very small - maybe room for 5 or 6 people at a time. And it is packed with delicious treats in beautiful packaging. The shop attendant offered us K bears - cute little crunchy bears that come in white, dark and milk chocolate. The chocolate itself is a very high quality. We picked out gifts, chatted with the lady working there a bit, and she offered me a few chocolate coins to take home to my 3 year old daughter. So sweet of her! I love that we were able to sample so much and that the presenation was so pretty - helpful when you're picking out gifts. Definitely would recommend this place. read more

Located at the Malibu Country Mart, they sell chocolates as the name of the store might suggest. They offered us tastes of anything we wanted to try, a nice gesture. We tried their signature "bear," which is essentially a piece of chocolate with rice krispies in it. Eh. Not my thing. We also tried one of their alcohol-infused chocolates..... I tried one with vodka. It definitely tasted like vodka, and supposedly, each chocolate is filled with the equivalent of 1/4 of a shot glass. To be honest, I MUCH prefer the alcohol infused truffles at Teuscher....... those are divine, whereas these were only good. Just nothing to rave about in my book, and for the price, they'd better be amazing. The most impressive thing about this store is their gift wrapping/packaging. On the day of my visit they had complimentary samples of the milk chocolate covered puffed rice which was ok. I walked out with $45 bag of kokonuts instead. Their presentation was certainly worth the $45 bucks but the actual product was just average. I would come back here only if I had to buy and impressive gift for someone. read more

I hate most chocolates either too sweet or has a sour taste left on my taste bud after have it. K's I never had that feeling. My especial favorite is scotch shots in dark chocolate. I also like K Bears, Bars, Spanish Orange peel sticks, pomegranates in dark, and truffles. They have selections of packages to choose. I come to Malibu whenever I travel home for Christmas, and a visit to the beach is at least half an excuse to stop for the excellent chocolates at K. As a chocolate connoisseur, I can safely say that K makes my favorite chocolate truffles - rich, creamy, with deep, velvety chocolate flavor. I like her other confections (including the adorable little crisped-rice chocolate bears), but the truffles are what brings me back. The service at this location is also consistently friendly and welcoming. For special occasions, I even take advantage of online ordering and shipping (which is pricey if you're shipping to a warm place, so be warmed). I'm used to paying more for high-quality truffles (every so often :), so while I think the prices are high ($45 for 1 order of truffles) I think they are warranted. If you don't necessarily want to indulge on chocolate, you may want to check out the website for pricing before visiting. Today was my birthday and in the midst of an existential crises where it became blindingly obvious that in my 29 years on earth, the only thing I have achieved thus far is a perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe, I needed an escape. A solo drive up PCH to Malibu on this overcast, drizzly day was the remedy. I turned into The Malibu Country Mart looking for a cup of coffee, but had to stop once I saw a chocolate shop. Birthday weekend called for a brief dieting hiatus, so gourmet chocolate wouldn't be guilt inducing. This shop is probably the smallest store I have ever been in. It must have been a storage closet in its former life. Regardless, I don't need shelf space. I just need a few good pieces of chocolate. Or a bag full. Sarah, the lovely shopgirl, offered me samples and talked to me all about the different varieties in stock. She also showed me the beautiful gift packaging they have, in case I ever like someone enough to send them something impressive enough to be considered a bribe. Yes, it is expensive, but everything I tasted was delicious and unique. If you've ever made candy, you'll realize that the ingredients and the labor involved help justify the cost. These chocolates were made fresh daily in limited quantities. Before you start salivating over the selection, be prepared to pay for these handmade chocolates. With prices starting at $25 and up for a hand-sized bag, these chocolates lived up to its reputation as the "Rolls Royce of Chocolate." For the average chocolate buyer, it was eat and go for broke. Customer service was good. Upon entering the store, the lady gave me samples of chocolate covered teddy bear cookies. They were addictive. I wanted more. I wanted to buy everything in the store, but I'd be in debt buying one bag of each kind. I really wanted to buy the liquor chocolates, but they were $40 a bag! I ended up getting a bag of chocolate covered teddy bear cookies. My boyfriend is allergic to dark chocolate, so that ruled out a lot of options. With purchase, I chose a complimentary Halloween-decorated mini tote bag to package the chocolate in. That was a nice feature. I'm not a chocolate connoisseur nor can I afford these chocolates on a regular basis, but I liked what I tasted and for that, I give it 4 stars. read more

We went into this little shop in Malibu for some dessert. However, their options were limited. They had a lot of chocolates by the bag. They were actually quite expensive. Their small bag of vodka chocolates were $40 (a high grade vodka was used). I wanted to get some pecan crisps in a bag, but even those were $25. The woman working there was friendly (she even recommended a nearby place for milkshakes; she said to go with the white chocolate milkshake). Free samples of two chocolates were offered. I tried the chocolate covered crispy rice. I believe she said that they used brown rice. It was good. I did not try the truffle. My friend said it was just okay. Every once in a while when I'm in the mood for a special treat, I take a drive up to Malibu and come here. I relax, walk around.. do some light shopping. And I always end up in this tiny shop, buying chocolates. I'm not one of those chocolate-crazed girls who has to have her chocolate every day. Usually I prefer more sugary or sour candies. But there's something about these chocolates that I can't find anywhere else. Maybe it's because I always end up buying the ones with alcohol inside? haha.. I definitely recommend the 'hiballs' (chocolates with scotch inside). Recently curiosity got the better of me and I bought some of those crispy bears too - really good! Anyone who knows me knows I'm a chocolate fiend. I'm always sampling as many different chocolates as I can get my hands on. Regardless of price, I had to try for myself what sets this place apart from other Chocolatiers. I think it's the diaeresis over the K. Yes, that has to be it. It's certainly not the quality of the ingredients. The chocolate here isn't bad, but The Food Network dubbed this place "The Rolls Royce of Chocolate" and the only Rolls Royce aspect is the price. Extremely overpriced for what it is. The Food Network should know better; there are many, MANY excellent chocolatiers in California alone who don't charge even half of what K does, and do a much better job. What high-end chocolate is made with soy lecithin? That's a cheap emulsifier that Hershey uses. Boo. read more

(LOL, I read that quote off the pamphlet I was handed along with my purchase.) The lady in the Malibu shop was very friendly and informative. She had overheard the conversation my friend from out-of-town and I had been having about suffering from PMS. She seemed determined to help and generously offered up samples. We felt instantaneously better after ingesting our first dark-chocolate truffle. But the lady continued to hand over more sweets. Want to try our pecan crisp? Sure! Tasted more like a chocolate-covered chip because the roasted pecans were so finally crushed. Chocolate covered rice bears reminded me of Crunch bars. The limited-edition hazelnut chocolate was faaaaaaaaaab... And then there were the liquor-filled chocolates. My friend Tiff enjoyed a scotch-filled one (1/4 of a shot per chocolate!) and found it incredibly enjoyable. We each left the shop with bellies full of fancy chocolate (a most excellent breakfast) and two bags of their best-selling dark chocolate truffles. $40 each. One for each of us.
